I had to do a system recovery on my PC. Got it back up, got the drivers I needed re-installed, updated the Microsoft software from the MS website etc..

I am using Windows XP Home Edition (SP2)
When I try to open Media Player (10) it gives me a message "An internal application error has occurred"
I went to Control Panel, Add/Remove Program, clicked show updates, Add/Remove Windows components and unclicked WMP to uninstall it.
Reinstalled it the same way and no difference.

Also found the advice on restoring the dll and it doesnt work!
Any help would be nice. I don't really want WMP 10 I prefer and want WMP 9 as it seems to work better. So how do I get rid of this endless loop that I have got myself into?

I did not reformat the drive when I did a recovery. (Non-destructive recovery is what I opted for) I am using an HP a1100y and have also found no help from their phone support and their website.

If the system came with WMP 10, I don't believe that you can use WMP 9.See comment at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...es/default.aspx for XP users.I would actually move up to WMP 11.Louis

Ok, so I had a nasty virus on my computer that caused me to reinstall Windows XP Pro. After reinstalling, I had to run HiJack This in order to get rid of pop-ups, winnet, and comwiz.

However, since reinstalling XP Pro, Windows Media Player 9 will not work. The program will not even open. Everytime I click on it to open, I receive the message: "An Internal Application Error has Occurred" and that's it, nothing else. I click OK, and the program never loads.

I read through the other threads with the same problem, but nothing has worked. I cannot restore because since the reinstallation, WMP 9 has never worked. I tried uninstalling WMP, but it is virtually impossible. I tried reinstalling WMP, same problem arises.

What can I do in order to get WMP to work?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I tried to open windows media player and it is giving me an error message "an internal application error as occured" it doesn't tell me how to fix it so I googled it to see if I could find some answers. The microsoft website only gives one solution for this problem and it does not fit my problem. I can also not find the media player icon in my add and remove program folder but when I right click on the desk top ICON I can find the target and it shows that it is still installed on my computer but for some reason I can't get to it.

I was going to try to do a system restore but that does not seem to be working either, the system restore screen opens but it is blank.

So I guess I have two issues, if I need to list the system restore issue in a different forum, let me know but if someone out there can help me with both issues, I would be grateful.

Thank you

We are using OS Windows XP
The version of media player on the computer is 10 to the best of my knowledge (I did try to re-download it and it seemed to download okay but I get the same error)

Hi, I've been having some problems with my computer (Win XP home) and wondered if anyone could help out there.
A few weeks ago I left the computer downloading something pretty safe overnight (I've done it several times before) and when I came back in the morning some things were playing up. It doesn't seem to be a virus as the rest of the system is working OK and it doesn't show up on any scans. Most such as problems with the printer spoolers and IE I've managed to sort out but Windows Media Player is still giving me grief. I used to have wmp 10 but when I opened it it said the internal application error message, so I uninstalled it and rolled back to wmp 9. This worked for a while until then it started up the internal application error message. I've tried installing wmp 10 again many many times (including things to it that have been suggested in other forums like moving files to other directories) but it just fails claiming that "to update windows run windows media player 10 setup again". I've tried hundreds of fixes from various internet forums including re-regestring vbscript.dll and jscript.dll, uninstalling and reinstalling wmp via Add/Remove programs and even fiddling with the registry editor but none seem to work.
I've tried installing wmp 9 again but it just says "another newer version is already on your machine". I've tried uninstalling wmp completely by deleting the folder in program files but unsurpri... Read more

Trying to start Windows Media Player brings error message that"an internal applications error has occurred." wplayer2.exe is still able to play video and sound files (mp3), except when you try to play an audio cd (cda), it responds with an error message, 80040265,"Cannot play back the file. The format is not supported."

I've checked an error 80040265 through the MS knowledge base and, after suggesting that the media be checked as to whether it's supported or damaged, it advises removing and reinstalling WMP. First, since it's native to XP Home SP!, there is no remove button in control panel. Next, given this fact and the nature of the problem, what would I try to install over the present version, version 9 or 10?

I have Windows XP. I had to reboot my computer using the CD and I somehow reinstalled using the recovery disk. The problem I am now having is that I cannot get windows media player 10 to open. I have gotten several error messages. The first is Internal Application Error=80004001. I am also getting an error that states 0xc0000005 @)0x2515CF1E. I went to the microsft web site and it is advising that I may have a registery problem. I checked. regsvr32 jscript.dll and it says it was okay. I checked regsvr32 vbscript.dll and got a message that "Loadlibrary failed - The specified module could not be found." Microsft says to correct the problem, I should got to start, run, type in misconfing in open box, click expand file, and type the name of the file I want to restore (which I assume is regsvr32 vbscript.dll). Up to this point, I am ok. I just don't understand the next set of instructions which sates "in the file restore box, tyne the name of the file I want to restore and in the file restore box, type the path of the widows xp. cab where to restore the file or click Browse to the locate the Windows XP .cab file." It also notes that Windows XP .cab file are stored in the I386 folder of Windows XP. What does this mean? Can you break it down real simple for me? Is the internal application problem for the player really a registery problem? I have been trying to figure out what to do about ten hours. Please help. Thanks.

Welcome to Seven Forums callumshell1. The 1st thing I would suggest would be to run the System Files Checker.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

See if it finds and corrects any errors. Also, see if you locate the 2 dx logs mentioned, in the windows directory, and post them here, or just the text if they are short, which they may well be.

Might i first say, Welcome to the Forums!

Now than, there's one of your problems zer01717, DirectX can easily be installed when you first install a game. You do not need to manually download it to install it. If the problem is internal, than the problem is that your computer is still installing everything from after start up. I don't know how to fix this, but someone else on the forums might be able to help. All I'm saying is that you might just need to wait for a few days BEFORE installing it. Did you also install WinRAR when you got it?

G'day
I am running Windows XP professional Service pack 1. I had been running several servers on the machine and had not installed SP2 before (mainly because I was lazy and didn't want to go through the hassle of trying to get them runnin on SP2).
-Scanrouter V2 professional
-FlexLM autocad licencing server
-APC Powercute Business edition
-Ricoh ESA transformer

I have bought a windows 2003 server and moved all the servers over and then tried to install SP2 on the XP machine.
Installation seems to go fine and finishes and when i restart i get an error popup before the login screen - lsass.exe -system error An internal error has occurred in RPC.
I click ok and computer restarts.
I have to run a SP1 repair install and restore system state data to get the computer running again.
I have posted this topic on experts-exchange where I got some very good advice but was still unable to solve the problem and decided to reinstall from scratch.
That's where the laziness kicked in again and I really don't want to go through the hassle of setting up everything from scratch since I use this machine to manage a network
of 40 computers and 5 servers.
Things I have already tried
-Scanned with adaware , spybot, stinger, malwarebits, panda online, trend housecall, avg8 - some problems found and fixed
-Run SP2 from safe mode
-Run subinacl to reset registry permissions
-Updated directly to SP3
-Reinstalled MSDTC

Does anyone have any ideas on what i can try.

"An internal error occurred in the Microsoft Internet extensions"

This cute little errormessage is causing me trouble.

Background:

I have a small application that fetches a index-file from a FTP-server. I have written the software myself and it works on 13 diffrent computersetups around Sweden. But on one special computer it wont work?

On that one computer you can use Internet Explorer and Explorer to reach the FTP-server and fetch the file so the FTP-protocol works on the computer and in that network. My software works on 13 other places so the software is tested and works. BUT on the one system the software can connect to the FTP and login but when trying to fetch the indexfile all I get is the above errormessage.
Does anyone recognies it or does anyone have an idea on how to attack the problem?

We have tried to reboot the system with out any luck.

Hello,
The error occurs from a Windows 7 Home computer to a Windows 7 Professional computer.
I connect successfully through a Sonic Wall VPN client.
I can ping the IP address of the remote computer.
I run remote desktop (using IP address of the remote computer) and get error:
"Remote desktop connection.  An internal error has occurred."

It used to work flawlessly and all of a sudden quit working.
Please advise.

A:Remote desktop connection. An internal error has occurred.

Please close the case.
I fixed it.
It was a VPN configuration issue on the Sonic Wall.

Hi all,

I'm trying to restore Windows Vista from a backup, but it's not working. I get the error "An internal error has occurred while enumerating backup sets". I've tried using a Windows 7 repair disk, and that at least identifies the backup. The Vista disk, however, doesn't. I have other backups on the external hard drive that I'm using (all for Windows 7), so could that be the problem?

This is what I get when I select "Windows Complete PC Restore" on the Windows Vista repair disk:

This is what I get when I select the backup I'm looking for, but on a Windows 7 repair disk:

Is there something I can do to get past this error? Or is there some other software that I can use to restore this backup?

Best regards,
yosefu_kun_98

Hi all,I'm experiencing an issue when I try to start up my Thinkpad: sometimes the screen starts blinking and an error message from Windows appears saying :" An internal error has occured" and then I can't login and I must restart the machine to solve. Is anyone experiencing the same issue?I've checked in the event logs but the only error message I found it's named WiMan (Id event 1) with this general description: "Intel(R) Wireless Manageability Driver is not compatible with Intel(R) Wireless(WiFi) Driver version. Please update Intel(R) Wireless(WiFi) Driver".Also this error message it's strange because my wirless driver are updated through the Lenovo Vantage application... Really hope someone can help me.

We have several users on a Windows 2012 RDS server. Recently two started having an issue logging in. They VPN to a Sonicwall firewall (which is successful...we can ping the server).
When they try to connect using the Windows RDP client we are now getting "An internal error occurred". I cannot find out where details of this error are so It's VERY frustrating to try to fix based on "something went wrong" as the definition.
I need to get this working ASAP. How do I track down where this is failing?
Note: This is a Sonicwall NSA 250M firewall with sufficient VPN licenses. We can PING the remote server through the VPN tunnel but we cannot seem to get folders by opening Windows File Explorer and typing in the server IP (e.g. \\172.65.44.18). It times
out (and there are shares on that server so we SHOULD see SOMETING).
Is this a sudden firewall issue or something to do with RDP server licensing or something else? I have no clue where to even start investigating this.

Hi Everyone

First post so will really try to brief and clear. I'm trying to use a prog to update some game saves and my xbox profile. The process is quite simple but each time I run it I get the above error. I've googled and much of the responses are mumbo jumbo to me but I can confirm that I have .Net 4.0.30319 installed and have tried disabling my virus software (PC tools) to no avail.

I can post the log if necessary but I'm frustrated as there are loads of You Tube vids showing this process and no hint of this problem.

I simply don't believe I'm the only one with XP using the software so it must be compatible.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks for your time.

It would be most helpful if you told us what software you are using when you get this error.

Edit: I think my frustration came through on this. I've been trying to fix this issue for a few weeks by using old discussions that do not seem to be so relevant. I'm sure there is an easy fix to this but I am missing it and hoping someone here knows about the problem in relation to Windows 7. Thanks.

An unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application. Click continue and application will ignore this error and attempt to continue.
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the machine
rather than being handled by this dialog.
When I restart or turn my Sony Vaio on it tells me I have this error. I have Windows 7 and I have read through many different discussions on this error and have not solved my issue. I can't find anything about JIT debugging on my computer. I have seen "go to tools, select options, click debugging and check this or that but I find no debugging options. I haven't seen any new discussions on this topic and it was suggested I start a new one.

I hope someone can help. This error is preventing my computer from updating on shut downs.

I had a very bizarre problem today. I downloaded about 50 .mpg files and put them into a folder on my desktop. I opened one of them, and it worked fine, but after that every time I even opened the folder that the files were in, only half of the thumbnails would appear and then it would tell me that I had a Visual C++ Runtime Error, from explorer.exe aborting. At the same time as this, windows would pop up a little message saying that my virtual memory was low. Later, it popped up a message saying that my Media Player needed to be reinstalled and that my Norton Antivirus needed to be reinstalled. Then it disabled my Norton Firewall and my Norton Antivirus. Lastly, I started getting error messages telling me that my soundcard needed to be configured to handle voice files, by enabling hardware acceleration. The only problem with that was that Windows would not let me access the advanced sound settings!

I am running Windows XP (all patches up to date), 256 MB Ram, 75 Gig HD - so I figured the "low" virtual memory had to be an error. I tried tripling the virual memory to 1GB and also tried letting Windows automatically set the virtual memory size, but neither of these fixed the problem. My immediate thought was that it was a virus or trojan, but Norton VirusScan, Swat-It Trojan Scanner, and System Suite VirusScan all failed to detect anything, and all of them have their definitions up to date.

I ran a Google search to see what other things I should try and none of the... Read more

Hi,

We are having a problem on a Windows XP Pro SP2 machine running Windows media player 10. It says "this version of media player is incompatible" when you try and open it. We have tried removing version 10, and putting on 9 but you get the same problem. This happens if you download the install file from the website or install WMP from the WindowsUpdate site. Has anyone come across this before, or got any ideas on how to get WMP to work?

Thanks a lot,
Daniel Murfitt

Dear All,

I would like to search for your help on this issue regarding deploy solution from Visual Studio 2013  to Sharepoint 2013.
Previously, I am able to direct deploy the solution successfully from Visual Studio 2013 to Sharepoint 2013.
However, these few days I have encountered the error message "Error occurred in deployment step 'Recycle IIS Application Pool': A task was canceled. " when I try to deploy the solution to SharePoint. I didn't change any setting in Visual
Studio and SharePoint.

Currently, I just able to use Sharepoint 2013 Management Shell to write command and deploy the solution to my SharePoint. It's working fine if I am using the Sharepoint 2013 Management Shell to deploy the solution.

Unfortunately, I cannot debug my coding due to cannot deploy the solution from Visual Studio 2013  to Sharepoint 2013. I am suspect that my server has canceled my task when I try to deploy the solution, but I don't know what happened to
my server since I didn't change anything.

Appreciate if anyone can help on this issue.
Thank you very much.
