Unable to sync iPhone 4 with iTunes on Win 7 Home Premium 64bit

Q: Unable to sync iPhone 4 with iTunes on Win 7 Home Premium 64bit

My old computer crashed and I'm now on a new PC with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
I installed the latest iTunes successfully, but found that my iPhone 4 is now not syncing with it.

It can detect the phone, but it's not adding or deleting anything - apps, music or photos. I used to be able to select a Photo Folder to sync from the PC hard drive, but now it no longer works. It, however, works well with my notebook which is running on Win Vista.
There is no error message, the sync and backup apparently goes on only for a few seconds, and then iTunes says it is searching for which apps to install but nothing changes. Even when I've clicked Apply.

I've also tried closing iTunes and I've rebooted the phone but no dice. I've also uninstalled iTunes to reinstall. Doesn't work either. And yes, I installed with the 64-bit installer.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi guys.

I posted the following over at apple forums and didn't get a single response.

Hope maybe someone knows something about this.

Message follows...

I got a new laptop at Xmas 09. It's a Dell Studio 1555 with Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium.

Ever since then I cannot sync my iPhone. It worked fine with Vista.

I downloaded and installed various versions of iTunes including the 64 bit version that SHOULD have worked. It doesn't.

It recognizes it. It even says 'sync in progress' but this only lasts 2 seconds before it says 'sync complete'. Of course it didn't sync at all and my library is unchanged.

Any ideas?

Thanks for any help

So my problem is this. Have had an iphone 3gs for 6 months. I've been using itunes on my PC (windows XP) succesfully to sync and update my phone. Now that the new update has come out I've been wanting to link with itunes to download it but for some reason my computer recognizes my phone as a camera (so i can transfer pictures using my basic Nikon program that's all) but itunes will not recognize the device. This tells me that the USB port is in working order but that's all i know Please help. Also it should be noted that my technological IQ is one notch below retarded so please simplify where possible. Thanks y'all.

I have just upgraded to windows 7 ultimate 64.

I though Brilliant as it i can have itunes on it and it will work with my iphone sync.

Ok it sort of does apps work fiune abut when i want to transfer movies and music it doesnt work.

Before I start i do not sync my musi, i choose what goes on as I have more than 8gb of music.

The first way I tried was simply selecting the songs and dragging them on to the iphone. It seems to work out fine but then it says that The iphone has lost sync and stops copying.

I then tried

Creating a single playlist with what i want on my iphone and making sure the iphone nly uploaded that playlist. Same thing happens, it loses sync.

It only uploads about 4% of the music which is 3.4gb worth,( I have 6gbs free on my iphone)

FINALLY

When these rrors occur my CPU usage goes up to 100% and it means my computer is un bearably slow and its a struggle to shut it down.

This happens everytime, anyone got any ideas what the problem is?

p.s. its an Iphone 3g

Hello,
I have a HP dv6 that I force shutdown. Upon reboot, it asks me to do a Windows diagnostic and if I select that option, all I see is a blue screen (not the blue screen of death) and nothing else happens.

No progress bar, nothing...a DOS window did appear and disappear in a flash at the beginning.

Now, I had installed Ubuntu (through wubi, I think), and if I choose that OS option while booting, it boots up just fine. I can even see my Windows folders, files, etc., through Ubuntu file manager, though I can't copy, open of course.

Now, I have my 5 CD-R system recovery disks that I'd burned at the beginning.

I changed the boot order to CD in the BIOS, popped in recovery disk 1 and I see the two progress bars "Windows loading files" and then the blue screen appears again and nothing else does.

Thinking my recovery disks were corrupt, I plugged disk 1 into an Acer with the same Windows 7 Home Premium OS. When I attempted to boot my Acer from the HP recovery disk, I got a nice window with a message saying that this laptop is not supported by the recovery disk and to contact HP support.

So, the recovery disks are fine.

I'm not sure what else to do.

Any help will be appreciated.

A:Unable to boot Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit dv6 using recovery disk

Try running chkdsk from a booted Win 7 install DVD or flash drive.

How to run chkdsk or System File Checker (SFC) from the Recovery Console
Boot your Vista or Windows 7 installation DVD
When you see "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD", press Enter
At the "Install Windows" screen, click on Repair your computer at lower left
At the System Recovery Options screen, make note of the drive letter assigned to your boot drive (normally C and click Next
At the Chose a Recovery Tool window, click on Command Prompt. You will be sitting at X:\Sources directory
Run chkdsk or SFC
If you did not note the drive letter of your boot disk, you can enter bcdedit and look at the osdevice line to see what it is.
For chkdsk, type chkdsk c: /r and press Enter (use the letter from above if not C.
For sfc, type sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c:\ /offwindir=c:\windows and press Enter (use the letter from above)

Let either run to completion undisturbed.

Vista or Windows 7: If you don't have a install DVD, you can download a legal copy here:
Windows 7 Direct Download Links
Windows Vista Direct Download Links

Make sure you get the same version you have installed: 32 or 64 bit; Home Premium, Pro or Ultimate.

Hello, I am having an issue getting windows 7 service pack 1 to install (windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe).
I get error code TRUST_E_NOSIGNATURE(0x800b0100). These are troubleshooting steps i have already attempted. I had antivirus and firewall disabled during this whole process.

1.First i attempted to use the microsoft fixit tool located here Troubleshoot problems with installing updates - Windows Help
2.Ran a Sfc scannow test on command promt (no errors found)
3.Ran a diskchk on the harddrive which my windows OS was located on (no errors)
4.Ran System Update readiness tool which completed (log is attached)
5.Added Windows6.1KB947821-v34-x64.msu to my %Windir%\Temp\CheckSUR \servicing\packages\ directory. Reran System update readiness tool (same missing manifests, mum, and cat file errors in log).

So basically the next step from what I read is to do a install repair or to manually copy in the missing manifest, mum and cat files. I would prefer to do that latter but i don't have another 64bit machine to get the files from. I dont know where i would attain these files.

This is really a continuation from an Apple discussion thread.
(Apple - Support - Discussions - iTunes Unknown error (-53) when trying ...)

Over there, a user showed me how to change my security settings, which made the error go away once:

"
On Win& and Vista go to CONTROL PANEL, User Accounts, click on any administratively privileged user Account, click on link "Turn User Account Control ON and OFF", go through the prompts (you need to be an administrator to be able to do so) and choose OFF.
Click OK and back out.
RESTART your PC.
LOG BACK into iTUNES and Sync away.
"

From the user account, I couldn't access the menu... I had to search for "User Account Control", then slide the bar all the way to the bottom.

After rebooting (logging back in the next day), the error came. I was able to log back into my admin account, go the this window and click "ok"... after logging back into my normal account, it worked; once.
I tried that trick again today with no luck.

I've switched to askign over here since this sounds more like a Windows 7 issue than an iTunes issue.

Note: I've tried "run as Admin" with the same results.

Ideas?

A:iTunes Unknown error (-53) when trying to sync iPhone

I get the same error, but it doesn't seem to affect how the iPhone syncs. I've still been able to upload and update my music, ringtones, etc. without any problems. I get that error and click "OK", it goes away and the iPhone continues to be sync'd..

Interesting problem, but unfortunately I have no insight.

im not sure if this is in the right area but Hello, i just got a new computer. it is running xp, has 120 HD, 250 backup, 2gb RAM, Nvidia graphics card. A good computer. the only problem is when i sync my iPod Touch 2G (with iOS4) or my iPhone 3G (also with iOS4) with iTunes (iTunes 9.2 [latest]) it freezes up. it'll get past apps and stuff, but once it gets to music it freezes. ive waited hours and nothing happens. on task manager it say "Not Responding". and ive done everything; reinstalled itunes, restored both devices, set itunes at low (then high) priority in task manager, did the same for Sync Service(s), ended the Sync Service(s) task, and more! NOTHING is working! PLZ help! give me as many solutions as possible. thank you!

its not in DFU mode. i already did that whole deal. idk what else to do!
OH! and to see what would happen, i ran music while syncing and it froze but the music continued to play. and i cant open itunes at all

Ok..... this one had me really tearing my hair out. For months, trying to get iTunes to "see" my Apple iPhone on my Windows 7 x64 system was like pulling teeth. But I've finally got it to work with a compatibility workaround!

Symptoms:

1) Start iTunes
2) Plug in iPhone
3) iTunes freezes for at least 5 minutes or longer
4) iTunes becomes responsive but no iPhone is recognised (thus no sync can happen)

This would also happen with 1) & 2) reversed (i.e. plugin phone (which Windows 7 x64 recognises immediately)) and then start iTunes. Same freeze up/lock up for 5 mins or longer.

What I tried:

I'd love to bill Apple for the lost time where I tried almost everything out there written on the web. There are hundreds of threads about this very problem going back at least three years.

I tried Apple's "fixes" by restarting their services - no joy
I tried (of course) updating all drivers (Win 7 said I was using latest drivers OK)
I tried updating to every new issue of iTunes that came out but there was never any resolution.
I've wiped out Apple softeare and reinstalled, System Restored and all to no avail.

Then I realised the real problem. Actually the iTunes/iPhone/Win7 x64 combination just does not work, period. Apple seem unwilling (or can't be bothered to effect a fix). They must know about this its all over the net. They just don't care.

So... the solution:

1) Right click the iTunes icon
2) Click 'Properties'
3) Click the 'Compatibility' T... Read more

As I read the help file in Vista, the Home Premium version does support Sync over a network. I haven't been able to figure out whether XP Home Edition version supports Sync over a network.

1. Does anybody know if I can Sync between these two systems?
2. If it is not supported directly, does anybody know of a workaround?
3. If there is no workaround, can I find freeware that will do the job.
4. If no freeware, what can I (do I need to) purchase from Microsoft?

I'm wondering if anybody can help with the following.
I'm running Win7 Home 32-bit with all of the latest updates and also have the latest version of iTunes installed. I'm trying to connect an iPhone to my PC, via iTunes, but it is not recognised by iTunes, and I keep getting an error saying that it cannot read the iPhone.
However, the iPhone does appear in Windows Explorer (apparently as a camera, as I can read the DCIM file and look at the photos there), but as the iPhone is not jailbroken I cannot see any other files. The iphone is running iOS5.
From searching online, it appears that the problem may be that Windows thinks it is a camera, and has atatched a particular driver to it (an MTP driver). Others also suggest that I need to have the phone installed with a different driver (usbappl)
If I uninstall the phone or try and automatically update the driver then it says that there is no better driver.

I have also tried to specifically update it with the usbappl driver (by updating the driver and using the "have disk" option and then browsing to where the usbappl driver is installed). In this case I get an error saying that "the folder specified doesn't contain a compatible driver for your device).
Can anybody suggest how I can get Windows to update with the correct driver, or some other way of getting iTunes to see the iPhone.
Many thanks for your help.

Uninstall all itunes and related softwares (apple mobile device driver, bonjour, etc) and then reboot the PC. Then reinstall iTunes and connect your iPhone. While connecting your iphone, make sure your device is connected to the internet as it will download the driver from windows update.

I think my problem rests with differences between Vista Home Premium and Vista Ultimate.

It appears to me that my Sync program fails because, as far as sharing is concerned, Microsoft treats V-HomePremium and V-Ultimate as different operating systems.

Here's a brief summary of my setup: a simple Vista workgroup.
Both computers connected to 2wire router provided by AT&T

LAPTOP...................... DESKTOP
wireless connection...... wired connection
Vista Home Premium.....Vista Ultimate

When I go to windows explorer, I get different results, depending on which computer I am using.

If I am sitting at my ULTIMATE DESKTOP computer, everything works just perfectly. I can explore & sync with my HP LAPTOP perfectly.

However, if I am sitting at my HOME PREMIUM LAPTOP computer, where I spend 95% of my time, I cannot explore the shared folders & files on my ULTIMATE desktop. Instead, I get a "login" window, saying "Connect to DESKTOP", which asks for a login and password. This stops windows exploring & the sync program.

Keep in mind, on ULTIMATE desktop, I am sharing exactly the same folders as on my laptop, and with exactly the same permissions.
I logon to both computers with the same administrator account, same password, same everything.
I have tried with & without "password protected sharing".
No consistent differences.

The only solution I KNOW will solve this is to wipe my DESKTOP U... Read more

I'm looking for a few answers to why I cannot boot from disc from my 64 bit home premium disc. Its been really frustrating not having an operating system at all (my XP disc is dead). I get the "please insert a system disc" error. If anyone knows what the problem may be, the help would be appreciated. I'm not looking forward to paying a tech 60 bucks to install vista for me.

A:64bit home premium

orestes I am sorry and surprised that 6 hours has passed and nobody responded to you request for help. I hope you check back and see this.

If you cant boot from the Vista media you need to check a few things.

For one be sure you are putting it in a DVD drive. CD's with Vista are avalible but are usually special orderd unless you get lucky and find one on the shelve.

Check you systems BIOS and find the boot sequence and be sure your DVD/CD drive is set to be the first device your system attemps to boot.

With the Vista disk in your optical drive you may be able to press F12 during bootup to select the boot menu which would give you the option to boot from your DVD/CD drive as well.

From this point you now have a place to start. If none of these work I would try a different DVD drive.

Please post more information about your system as this my aid myself or others to help you further.

Good luck.

What programs are you running, Firefox and Thunderbird over time increase in memory usage, they start out at around 70,000K and will climb to over 200 - 300,000K, opera web browser levels out at 70,000K. The first one was "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA", and after restarting my PC, now get "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL".

I have no idea what these mean, or what is causing this. If you need more information, please let me know.

Thanks for your time, and consideration with assistance to my issues.

If you can access the HD

We really need the actual DMP file.

If you wish to have others assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder. The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Start your own thread in the "Crashes and Debugging" section of the forum and attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
* Briefly describe the problem history and circumstances in the same post. Somebody will attend to your query as soon as possible.

Hi, I bought a notebook preinstalled Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, of course, licensed.

But I found it incompatible with some software. So I decided to use 32 bit.

I want to format the whole drive and install 32 bit version of W7HP.

Can the product key of W7HP 64 bit be used to activate W7HP 32 bit in the same computer?

A:W7 Home Premium 64bit used in W7 Home Premium 32 bit. Can?

Yes. You are entitled under the EULA to either 32- or 64-bit Win7 with each license.

I have been trying to Sync my Cingular 8525 with Office 2007 on Vista Home Premium and can not get the system to Sync with the PDA or vice versa.

The error that comes up is "Synchronization could not be completed. See http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=72544" which I've followed to no avail.

For the uninitiates, Active Sync is not recognized on by Vista, hence Sync Center.

The PDA syncs just fine on my other XP Pro/Office Pro 2003/Active Sync sytems. Does anyone have any clues or pointers that I can try in resolving this issue?
Cheers - Fitzy

I am running Win7/Pro x64. My System Spec is in my Profile.

I do not have iTunes installed on my desktop. I do have an iPhone 5, a hand-me-down from my son.

Yesterday the phone needed to be charged. I attached it to a USB port. I was asked by the phone if I trusted my desktop. I said yes. I was told that there were no new images on the phone to import, a fact I already knew. I've encountered this dialog before. It seems to be part of the procrustean Apple way of computing.

What troubles me is that a process started about the time I plugged in the phone. At a rate of 5-10 files/sec the 'modified' date was changed on over 3,500 jpg files on my data drive. I've not analyzed the order in which they were processed but suspect that it was A-Z on the file names and also on folder names.

Could this behavior result from iTunes running its 'sync' process? If so, is there anything I can do to prevent it from happening again?

If we have no Apple OS experts on this forum, does anyone know of an 'Apple forum' that is as respected as sevenforums is in the Windows world?

thanks

baumgrenze

I just got an iTouch and want to shift my Windows music files to iTunes. So, I go to iTunes and download: iTunes 10.0.1 for Windows (64-bit). I tried the one that says it is for Vista, but when I install it says to use 64 bit.
After the download, I click the iTunes ".exe" and I get:

The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, of if the Windows installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance.

I have tried all methods on:

Still I have the same message. Please help. Without iTunes, iTouch is just a pretty hunk of metal.

After the format I lost every user friendly software that I need to recovrer my system and I have to do it manually now. I tried to install windows7 with another cd I found at home and used my product key under the laptop but after the installation It is is service pack 1 and I can't upgrade to the latest version of windows 7 64bit home premium. I also tried anytime upgrade option in windows but it soesnt work.  1) I need my original latest windows2) I need my user firendly hp recovery software and factory settings backup files (which I used many times for recovery before) so I won't need to update all the drivers and windows everytime I format my laptop (I am willing to use my baby 5 years more 3) I will try to setup my ssd as cache (I think this was how it setup before the format isn't it?) Thank you for your help in advance, Mert.

I've tried to follow the details as in THIS POST but can't find the output file in My Documents.

My system specs are:
Intel Core 2 CPU 4300

Help me please.

Could you try following those instructions in there again? If it doesn't work, try running it in safe mode. It's beyond helpful with diagnosis.

If it still does not work, navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump and zip all of those files up and attach them to your next post.

These two blamed on your USBPORT.SYS. I would run system file check to verify and repair and read this USB Driver - General Fix for Problems

Run a system file check to verify and repair your system files.
To do this type cmd in search, then right click to run as administrator, then
SFC /SCANNOW

Read here for more information SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Let us know the results from the report at the end.

My current build has been good to me over the years, but it's definitely starting to show its age. I feel that it's time not for just an upgrade, but an entirely new system from scratch. New case, new mobo, new RAM, new everything.

This includes a new operating system as well. I definitely don't want to transfer the OS from this build to the new one. The most I'll do is put some files on a USB drive and copy them over to the new one. There's way too much leftover HP stuff and who knows what else from when this build started as a prebuilt PC some 6 years ago.

I don't want windows 8 or 10, I'm perfectly fine with Win 7. It's flawless, and has less compatibility issues with old games (I'm a sucker for old-school gaming).

I've looked around for a boxed of Win7 copy to buy, but all of them say they're 'OEM', which I've heard not good things about. It's also not the same as what I have currently. All I want is a new replacement for the exact one I already have: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1. I've found this on amazon but I can't find out if it's OEM or not:
Amazon.com: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit DVD + Genuine Product Key

A:Where to buy a non-OEM version of Win7 home premium SP1 64bit?

It looks okay but yeah it's not the official box. Not sure why they don't sell them anymore, maybe to get everyone on Windows 10 to use their market ?

Since it was a prebuilt, you should have a sticker on your pc with the windows serial key, you can enter that into Windows website to download the official windows.iso, they also have a usb tool to make it bootable from USB.

Plug in your usb, boot up from usb, install windows. Simple

https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/soft...nload/windows7 Enter your key here.

Hello Gaz, You've got a lot going on there...

Please fully disable your smartcard reader, not only the usb connection in device settings, but also the respective storage volumes it tries to create (if they are visible in device settings) i.e. F:\ (SD card), H:\ (SM card), G:\ (CF card) and I:\ (MS card)

Also please re-install (if you need it) your PS/2 mouse, its driver seems to be messed up.

Then reboot. If you still have problems, next step is to:

- Look at "STOP 0x0000003B" Stop error on a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 when you use some IEEE 1394 devices
- and follow: SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

and please give us a little more info on when, how, in what circumstances you get these crashes.

Some background on your videocard would be good too as it is also mentioned as an issue...

I'm a fairly computer-literate person but I may have painted myself into a corner. I can't start my Vista up through normal means as explorer.exe freezes the entire computer. This is a bit convoluted so I'll start at the beginning.

For a few days my computer needed to do some heavy lifting, so I left it on a few times overnight lately. I hadn't powered off/on for the past week or two, so I can't tell exactly when the boot problem appeared, but I noticed the whole thing had gotten mighty slow. No HDD access noise or anything, just a longer and longer wait at various stages (green loading bars, then desktop loading, etc).

I assumed at that point my login attempts were locking up the computer. So I loaded a restore point with a Vista recovery CD, to no effect. I began to noticed that the comp would lock up at different points of the login (and when I used different Vista accounts), so I thought maybe the system files were damaged. I ran the Startup Repair (?) program on the recovery CD, which apparently detected errors. It did its thing, but after the computer locked up upon restart the entire process quit on me.

The next time I ran it to try to continue the repairs, it scanned the OS and detected no errors. Around this time, something weird also happened with the USB readers. They stopped detecting the all-important thumb drive which held the SATA drivers necessary for the recovery CD to detect my OS. USB is a little unreliable now as the recovery CD will only detect my digi... Read more

Non of the outputs work from the rear panel of the card (both headphones and speakers), and the system says that it has the proper drivers installed (SBAXVSD_PCDRV_LB_2_12_0002.exe). Any help is useful, thanks in advance!

The drivers you have installed were the first release Vista drivers and are garbage, if anything you want to use the latest drivers that were released last month (which are working just fine opn my Audigy 4). Alternatively you can also give the daniel_k driver set a try,

SBAX_PCDVT_LB_2_15_0004EQ.rar - FileFront.com

which will also allow you to use some of the apps as well.

Here's the deal - I built a PC out of parts I bought online. Brand new. Windows 7 64 Bit Premium Home edition is freezing like crazy
.
The first two days I had this PC up and running it was fine. Then when I played Starcraft 2 for a while it froze before I quit for the night. No problems for a day after that between playing SC2 and left 4 dead 2.
But today? Today it got way bad. For a while it wouldn't even let me boot into windows. I 'm not sure what I did to work around that. I've been playing around with so much shit. Switching between the two sticks of ram I have, running scans, chkdsk, whatever. No problems found.
I read somewhere that the BIOS settings for the RAM needs to be set otherwise it will cause problems (since it defaults to automatic I think?) or by getting updates for the motherboard.
I'm honestly completely clueless. I installed the latest drivers for my video card but I have no idea what specs I need to change in the bios for my ram.
I've got: GeForce GTX 470
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-10600CL9D-4GBNT
Intel Core i7-930 Bloomfield
ASUS Sabertooth X58 LGA
So is it the RAM frequency? The voltage? Is it my video card? I reinstalled/updated drivers for that. What's the deal here? No malware or viruses showed up so it's not that. One thing I should mention is that all of this, I THINK, occured after one of the most recent windows updates... Read more

Your security programs are good. Consider adding the free versions of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and SUPERAnti-Spyware as on-demand scanners. But on those "tune-up" programs...they contain registry cleaners, which are the current "snake oil" of the interwebs these days.Bleeping Computer DOES NOT recommend the use of registry cleaners/optimizers for several reasons:? Registry cleaners are extremely powerful applications that can damage the registry by using aggressive cleaning routines and cause your computer to become unbootable. The Windows registry is a central repository (database) for storing configuration data, user settings and machine-dependent settings, and options for the operating system. It contains information and settings for all hardware, software, users, and preferences. Whenever a user makes changes to settings, file associations, system policies, or installed software, the changes are reflected and stored in this repository. The registry is a crucial component because it is where Windows "remembers" all this information, how it works together, how Windows boots the system and what files it uses when it does. The registry is also a vulnerable subsystem, in that relatively small changes done incorrectly can render the system inoperable. For a more detailed explanation, read Understanding The Registry.? Not all registry cleaners are created equal. There are a number of them available but they do not all work entirely the same way. Ea... Read more
