XPS l701x 150 genuine adapter: can anyone tell me the exact model?

Q: XPS l701x 150 genuine adapter: can anyone tell me the exact model?

Hi guys,

I've recently purchased a l701x with a non genuine adapter. The laptop recognize the battery, but it doesn't charge it, due to the fact that it is a 90w adapter (and not genuine). I believe my laptop doesn't work at the full speed, too.
Now I don't know if the battery that I have is broken, or if it doesn't charge because of the ac adapter.
I'm looking for a genuine l701x adapter, but I've found tons of models out there (pa-15. pa-5m10, just two examples), but I want to purchase (better if used!) THE 150w original model. So I can understand if my battery works or not.

Can anyone please tell me the exact genuine model that Dell sold with 150w xps l701x, the one with nVida GT445M with 3gb of RAM? Thank in advance!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I want to find out if I can upgrade my memory. I need to know my model number. the bios and everywhere else I can find it only has HP HDX-18. That's it. The whole shebang. The Product Number is FF231AV. But ONLY if your looking inside the bios or system information.  The label says it's FF286AV.  Everywhere I go to try and find information about this computer asks for a model number like HP HDX 18 "1001EO" or something in that format.  HP has been shining me on for about 10 years now, I gave up long ago.  Is there anyone on this planet that can tell me what model number I have? Please don't waste my time or yours with the usual "look on the label or look in the bios" methods.  It's not there. Thank you all for reading this mess.

I have a burnt up motherboard in my laptop. My question is do I have to match the exact model to the one that is in there already inside? Or can I get one alittle cheaper? The one that is inside is around $200, and I was hoping to spend a bit less.

Me and hubby can replace and change out anything on a desktop, and even build one from scratch. But laptops aren't our thing

This one is an ASUS K52F REV 2.0. Any suggestions, or do I have to match it up with what is factory?

A:Replacing motherboard in laptop, does it have to be exact model #?

The key word here is "have". No, you don't "have" to - theoretically. As long as you plan to clean install windows then there should be no reason why the parts (display, HDD, DVD, and - assuming compatibility - RAM) will not all work in a new motherboard.

The issue is configuration. Because of the design of the laptop shell, the hard drive and RAM need to go in one particular location to be accessible, the USB ports, sound, and card reader must all align with the openings in the shell or you are into some serious modifications. For these reasons alone the idea becomes unreasonable.

But if you found a motherboard from a similar Asus laptop that has the same layout then sure. It could work.

But at some point the time you spend getting it to work will exceed the value of the $50 or so you are saving. If you are doing it for fun and adventure that is one thing. If you are doing a repair for need it could be a time sink.

I apologize for my inexperience on the matter and this question may seem somewhat unorthodox. My liquid cooling system dripped on my video card and motherboard, killing both instantly. Naturally I seek to replace them with the same exact models. What my inquiries are as follows: Are there any significant issues that may arise with replacing them with the same models? What are the necessary steps that must be undertaken to successfully replace them? The Video Card is a Palit GeForce? GTX 560 Ti 2GB and my Motherboard is Sabertooth x58. My operation system is Windows 7 Home premium 64 bit.

- I assume I have to tweak my Windows 7 OS, considering a New Motherboard is essentially a new PC. Do I use my re-installation disk or contact Microsoft?

My best regards beforehand.

A:Help required for replacing motherboard with same exact model.

If it were me I would just put it in there and try to boot it up. It may decide that it's found new hardware (even if it's identical to the old stuff). Let it do it's "new" hardware installation and whatever reboot(s) are necessary. I would pay close attention to attaching everything in the same ports/slots etc as it was on the old board.

You may have to do the robocall to Microsoft for activation. The key here is to (honestly) say "no" if it asks you if the copy of Windows is installed on any other computer.

My MB (a Gigabyte EX58-UD3R) croaked after just under a year of use and I replaced it with the same model just over a year ago. Everything I described above is how it went for me when I replaced it, including booting from the original hardware with Windows already installed. After the phone activation I have had no problems, either with the new board or with Microsoft pertaining to "Genuine Software" issues.

(And I'm curious to know if you get the "Windows did not properly shut down" message when you start it up for the first time.)

Hello, Quick one based on my investigations related to random BSODs that I witness since I purchased and set up my Omen PC (you can read about this here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-performance/bsod-caused-by-haldll-and-n...): What is the exact model of Radeon card fitted in this PC (HP Omen 870-095na)? According to Product Page: http://store.hp.com/UKStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=Y0Z74EA&opt=ABU&sel=DTP It's AMD Radeon? R9 380. According to Radeon software though, as well as GPU-Z / Speccy and SiSoft Sandra it's: Graphics Chipset AMD Radeon R9 200 Series or ATI AMD Tonga PRO [Radeon R9 285]. I understand that there is not-so-inisignificant difference between R200 & R300 series - could someone help claryfying this to me please? Many thanks, Tad

What if I replace the motherboard with the exact same model BUT change processors? Will I have any issues?
Was in the process of updating the bios. Not sure what I did wrong but it's dead. Have to send it back to super micro. I ordered an identical motherboard. But was updating the bios so I could switch from a quad core westmere chip to a hex.
Everything I have read states the OS is married to the motherboard (Win7 64 OEM). So if I get away with no issues from the motherboard swap, will the processor swap give me issues.
My system is a dual boot ubuntu 64/Win7 setup. I don't want to reinstall if I can help it. Advice would be appreciated.

(thanks admins for correcting this. Didn't mean to hijack that other thread)

A:Replace motherboard with exact same model BUT change processor?

you should not have any problems with Win7 even if its an OEM version. MS can reset if you have to call don't worry, just call them and explain what happened they are not going to crawl through the phone line and tear your head off or anything.

Hi Guy,

Just throwing this one out there.

I am having trouble with my new Tenda 54M Wireless PCI Adapter Model: W54P card it installs the driver right but when i go to enable it, it doesn't work.

It also calls it a Ralink RT61 Turbo Wireless LAN Card if that helps solves the problem.

The Driver is
Driver provider: Ralink Technology Corp.

If you need anymore info please post and i will reply asap

A:Tenda 54M Wireless PCI Adapter Model: W54P

One thing that can help with that is finding the Hardware ID. There are two ways about it. One is to go to Start, Right click on Computer, select Manage. Go to Device Manager, expand Network adapter, and double click on the device. Go to the Details tab and select Hardware Ids from the drop down menu. For instance, my Hardware Id is VEN_1814&DEV_0301 and if you google it you find that its a Ralink RT2561/RT61 chipset. I was able to install this device by going to Ralink's website and downloading thePCI/mPCI/CB (RT256x/RT266x). I installed the executable as driver only. I then did a manual install, selected Browse my computer for driver software, Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer, selected Network adapter, then selected Ralink Corp, and finally selected the RT61 v2. This worked for my particular device but it can be different for yours. This is only an example as something you can try.

I've tried to install with the included CD, plug and play, device manager, and installation program from the manufacturer's website and still get the same error: "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. Initially I had another brand of network adapter that I tried to install, and got the same error so I returned it thinking it was faulty. Same problem with the Belkin. Any suggestions? I have ran the sfc /scannow in the command prompt as administrator: "Windows Resource protection did not find any integrity violations". I also ran the WindowsFixit tool, which did not work either. Under the Device Manager I found the Install Error: "The parameter is incorrect. 00000057". When I try to update the driver from the device manager, it tells me the best driver is already installed. It still has the yellow exclamation point on the "Belkin Wireless Adapter" in the Device Manager. I am getting pretty frustrated! Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Axel,
Does the system overheat? Are there any bluescreens / system crashes?
You have tried most required steps to resolve the issue.
Ensure you backup all data on the system.
Try flashing the BIOS - http://dell.to/2gPpgpW- force the flash if required - http://dell.to/2hnhjs4
If this does not resolve the issue, then replace the fan.
You could contact our team to get a quote for a paid service call - http://dell.to/1vnT6CQ
You could also order the parts here - http://bit.ly/2gB12Sy

Is the system set for RAID mode?  If so, you'll need to put the Intel RAID driver on a flash drive, pause the install with F6 when indicated, and load that driver.
Note: the driver requires 7 SP1 -- it will blue screen with the original 7 disc, so be sure yours has SP1 already on it.

I recently purchased a Lenovo Ideapad 110-15ISK, Model 80UD0017US, and would like to purchase a 2nd power adapter as a backup. I saw in the hardware manual that there are several part numbers listed, and the specific ones on my adapter are:45w AC Adapter Model Name: PA-1450-55LLLC P/N: 5A10H42923 In looking for the part online, I saw several on eBay and Amazon with the PA-1450-55LL reference, but at least one seller mentioned that the size of the connectors aren't always the same. In the hardware manual I did not see a reference as to the connector size (ie 4.0mm*1.7mm), which is the connector size reference I saw by one seller. Does anyone know the connector size on this power adapter for my model? Thanks,Kim

You don't want to do this -- there's a real risk of a system board bricked if the power fails during the flash.
Connect an OEM Dell adapter (or take the system to a shop that has one and have them flash the BIOS).

Hello everybody! Couple of weeks ago I bought my Dell XPS 17 so I am new here.
I have to say I am very happy with my new PC. Until I found out my Bluetooth is no working and in fact has never been working even when it was factory new. It is not displayed in Device Manager, there are no files/folders related with Bluetooth on HDD when I search. Though in BIOS bluetooth is enabled. At the beginnig I even thought that my PC has no bluetooth, but then I consulted User Manual and internet, which proved I was wrong. So I Tried to download DELL`s drivers for bluetooth:
But when I click on setup.exe a window shows up tells me to switch on Bluetooth (Wireless switch Fn+F2), but that changes nothing. This window remains and the installation is not continuing, as if Bluetooth switch isn`t working. Then I installed software and apparantly also the driver directly from win64 folder and it seemed to install everything. But bluetooth is still not working and does not appear in Device Manager, although I now have files in Bluetooth folder in Program Files. If I click on bttray.exe it is shown in Task Manager as a process, although icon does not appear in taskbar as it should be. So - still not working.
Of course I don`t have a need in bluetooth very often, but it is quite pity that something is not working on a brand new PC for which I have paid A LOT of money. Disappointing. :(
Can anybody help me? Nobody has had the same problem? Thanks!

Hello, everyone!
My laptop (Del XPS 17 L701X) started to freeze randomly, so I was thinking that my power supply may be failing (sometimes my laptop also lost power if I the power supply a little bit while connected, sometimes the same supply made a buzzing noise). I have to say, unfortunately this supply was not genuine Dell part, but some "Delta Electronics" supply. Anyway, I googled for Dell genuine power supply and found this one: Dell 130-Watt 3-Prong AC Adapter with 6 ft Power Cord
So that is one that I ordered (bear in mind, I don't have the original one that I bought my laptop with), but when I plugged it in, my Dell issued a warning, that AC power supply with only 130W is connected, the system may operate slower and that  I need 150W or more. Turns out my Laptop originally came with a 150W power supply, but even at the DELL official page it is said, that this 130W supply is the real deal. So I would like to know it this 130W supply will be enough or should I send this one back and exchange for 150W one. Do I have the risk to not to have enough power?
I have found on one page that this particular laptop consumes 123.2W on full throttle, if this helps (I have no means to test this myself, I believe).
Thanks in advance!

Today my laptop wouldn't boot. It comes up with the Dell logo, with XPS underneath, and the progress bar under that. Once the progress bar is finished it says:

The operating system is Windows 7 64 bit, home premium I believe

I've gone through the diagnostics, and the hard drive check said "not applicable". I checked the BIOs, and the primary hard drive is not there, but the second one is showing. I've reseated the primary hard drive to no avail. I'm assuming I'm going to have to replace the primary hard drive, but wondering if there might be some other solution. I have the original installation disks and tried doing a system restore but of course it doesn't find the operating system so can't do a system restore. I also tried system repair, which didn't help. I haven't tried system image recovery, mainly because it would replace what's on the drive with data from 2014, but I'm not sure that this would work anyway - would it? We are getting ATA logs into splunk. Now, we are trying to normalize the ATA logs(data) doing that we need to identify under which data model these ATA logs will come under.

Below are the data models available in splunk documentation

Network Resolution (DNS)

If someone is working on it please give an idea under which datamodel this logs will come.

Hello,i've purchased a 4X10H04506 tablet dock for my Helix 2 20CG. Charging and HDMI on the docks works well, while none of the three usb 3.0 ports seems to work properly: no devices detected at all, and the led on my sandisk memory pen do not light, like there is no power on the usb ports, or are turned off.Don't know what to try: do I have to ask a refund for the dock, or maybe there is something I can check or should try?thank you for any help.PM

You have 4GB soldered memory and 1 slot(socket) to add  additional 8 GB RAM 2133MHz DDR4.Thus 12 GB max on your machine.

In reading this forum and feedback over the last week or so pertaining to the XPS 15 products and the Battery  I decided before my wife and I each plunk down $2300 each for new laptops I better find out if replacement batteries are available....  Well,   after being on the Phone with 5 different people today at Dell in both Sales and tech Support...  The Batteries Are Not Available.  That makes the Dell xps 15 the smallest door stop in my house.
We started to look for replacements of our current Laptops and did alot of reading on the Dell XPS 15 with the 7700 HQ processor, 16 gb of ram and 512GB of SSD storage.... 4GB of Video ram and a 1050 processor.    The unit requires a 97Whr battery.    So,  I figure I'd check in to see what the cost of the replacement battery was and if it was available if we wanted to buy a spare..   I was floored by the amount of time it took to the the answer and what I was told... but in short here it is...
My first attempt was thru on line chat.. I was told that the battery was discontinued and that a reconditioned 43 wat would fit the Unit..  My first comment was what the heck do you do with a 43whr battery in this powerful laptop... but no matter how I asked the question the answer was the same...  So I inquired about one for a previous year 84whr battery and I got the same answer...    That tells me something is wrong they would ... i broke my dell xps 12 model 9Q23 lcd screen and i've been searching high and low for a replacement screen but to no avail. I have however found a replacement lcd screen for dell xps model 9Q33, from a quick google search, they both look similar to one another but with different specs.
So i was wondering if i purchased replacement lcd screen for model 9Q33, would it work on model 9Q23?

A:Does dell xps 12 model 9Q33 lcd screen would work with xps 12 model 9Q23?

According to parts-people.com, the LCDs for one don't work with the other despite the similarity in design of the two systems.
There are some places showing screens for the earlier 9Q23 in stock.

I have a nvidia riva tnt2 model 64/model 64 pro pci bus videocard.
The other day I bought the follow up of MOH (sorry forgot the name because returning it to the store)but ofcource you already see the problem rightaway:error log file of the game told me the card was missing out on some functions. Can this card be updated so "heavy duty games won't be a problem in the future?(il2/fb-wolvenstein-cfs2 run good though!)

Thanx for listening!

A:nvidia riva tnt2 model 64/model 64 pro update wanted

Well...you can get the latest drivers for the card, but it won't help that much, because it's a TNT2...and PCI....

If you wanted to play newer games, you'd have to get a new video card....but if you're running a PCI video card right now, then it may not be worth it...check if you have an AGP slot, is should be above the PCI slots on the motherboard, and slightly offset from them...if you have an AGP slot, then that's good, because you could get a good video card...but if you don't, you'll probably be better off getting a whole new system rather than just upgrading the video.

I have the Nvidia Riva TNT2 Model 64 / Model 64 pro video card and i want to install a game but the video card has to be in 256 color mode and in Windows i can only go to 32 bit what can i do? Any comments or posts would be great! Thank YOU!

A:Nvidia Riva TNT2 Model 64 / Model 64 pro Problem?

Just to be clear, 32-bit is actually 16,777,216 colors, so its much more then 256 which is just 256 colors. So for 256 you need to lower the color depth not increase it.

There was a 5 page thread on trying to downgrade from Ultimate to Win 7 Pro but I thought I should start a new thread. I have a thead on a different forum but was hoping someone here might know the answer.

Users computer says Windows is not genuine, was 7 pro, in Sept 2013 we upgraded to Ultimate to use Bitlocker. System bought from Dell, used Anytime Upgrade to Ultimate. I spent ages on phone with Microsoft today, they have completely agreed both copies are valid, and the computer is saying they're not, in error, they will not admit that it's a Windows Update that caused it likely.

They took over remotely, and 30 minutes later gave up, none of the methods worked. She then advised me to BUY a copy of 8.1 and do a clean install. I don't want 8.1, if we have to reinstall I'd rather do Win 7 Pro again(same valid code) and then up to Ultimate again(same valid code), or go to Win 10 when it comes out. Of course you can't upgrade a "non genuine" copy of Windows 7 to win 10, even if it is in fact genuine.

We don't want to have to reinstall. MS also told me I need to downgrade to Win 7 Pro, put in the code, then upgrade to Ultimate. To do that they said I have to do a clean install. I've seen all the links to Windows Downgrader but we aren't exactly thrilled to be advised to use a 3rd party app. I have not tried the registry suggestions yet, I'm not particularly comfortable dealing with the registry. Two questions.

If MS had been willing to just give me a new U... Read more
