Chinese Broadband Telecom company IP Address detected on my PC. Need to block this. Possible Malware?

Q: Chinese Broadband Telecom company IP Address detected on my PC. Need to block this. Possible Malware?

Yesterday, I did a scan of my network with WireShark 3.2.6 Scan was done on my hardwired Ethernet connection. I am somewhat new to advanced wireshark and I do not know everything there is to know but I am in the process of learning.
While looking at the results of a short scan I saw some unsettling IP Addresses that were appearing on my network. I do a lot of schoolwork online and I need to setup Windows 10 Professional's Firewall to block this IP Address or possibly even a range of
IP Addresses.
Problem is: When I do searches with keywords such as "Blocking an IP Address with Windows 10 firewall" I end up receiving results that are intended for businesses or results that are meant for a Windows Server.
I need an understandable solution to this potential security problem. One that I can use Microsoft tools to fix and not some 3rd party app if possible.
My system:
Windows 10 Professional build 18363.1016
MS Office 365 Enterprise Edition subscription through my school
Dell Optiplex 790 with the latest BIOS update
Dual drives SSD system drive and Mechanical ATA drive for data storage.
WireShark 3.2.6 results
Source: Destination: My private IP Address for my PC.
Protocol used: TCP Note: 3 instances.
Below is my PC sending out an 89 byte message to 4 different times.
Source: My Private IP, Dest:, Src Prt: vpad 1516, Protocol:

Thanks for your help in advance!

Preferred Solution: Chinese Broadband Telecom company IP Address detected on my PC. Need to block this. Possible Malware?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

There are several post like mine out there already but none of the solutions have worked for me. When I am connected to my company LAN I can go to Google (my home page) in IE7 on an XP Corp SP3 Laptop. about every other time I click on a link I get the following error box.Whether I click ok on the error or click the X, a new browser window opens maximises and opens my home page. When I am on my home network the behavior is different, (probably because my home firewall is not blocking the site) When i click any link from my home page there is no error box but my click gets hijacked to an advertisement or fake virus protection sites. Here is what I have tried:1. Full scan and immunize with Spybot S & D (found a lot of cookies etc. didn't fix this issue)2. Full scan with Symantec Endpoint protection (finds trojans once a day, probably friends of this issue)3. Full scan with Malwarebytes (fixed other issues it found but not this one)4. Purchased full version of Spyware Dr (found and fixed 4 issues but not this one)5. Disabled all browser plugins, including those that run without permission. (did not impact the issue)6. Searched for any files or registry enties with "hpprintspool" in them (there were none)7. A:Malware Cannot find http://(chinese characters) Make sure the path or internet address is correct

Hi jgardner,Welcome to BC HijackThis forum. I am farbar. I am going to assist you with your problem. One or more of the identified infections is a backdoor trojan.A backdoor Trojan can allow an attacker to gain control of the system, log keystrokes, steal passwords, access personal data, send malevolent outgoing traffic, and close the security warning messages displayed by some anti-virus and security programs.I would counsel you to disconnect this PC from the Internet immediately. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.Though the trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of it's backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the Operating System. Please read these for more information:How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud and CC Fraud? When Should I Format, How Should I ReinstallWe can still try to clean this machine but I might not be able to make sure it will be 100% secure afterward. Please tell me if you want to go on with cleaning.

Last night I checked what clients I had logged onto my wireless as I was getting some weird download spikes I couldn't understand. The spikes were anything between 0.5mbps up to 3.0mpbs on the wireless. What I found out that was weird was that two of our phones had their client name changed to a chinese company's mailing address.

The table isn't perfectly aligned. I exported that out from my router. The router is an ASUS RT‑N66U. I might have some kind of bug on one of the computers in the household though. I'm running scans on that right now. My first confusion is just on those client names being changed. They should simply have "android[numbers]" listed for them.

I did find that the one computer was responsible for the spikes on the wireless. Maybe it's also responsible somehow for the client name changes? If so, I can go through the scan list and post the logs from it. I'm more or less looking to see if anyone has any insight on what could log into my router to change the names or somehow force them to change.

Our email scanning is run by an external company. It has been working up to a point, but due to the large amount of spam getting through they are upgrading this service. As part of this upgrade, I have been given a list of attachment file types and asked which I want them to block and which to allow.

Half of these I am pretty sure about, but I need some guidance on what some of the others are and whether they are a genuine security threat.

Here's what I have left...

Binary - encrypted

Binary - not protected

LZH compressed archive (if we allow .zip, any reason not to allow these?)

Microsoft Compress

Possible install shield

PEM - Privacy enhanced mail (we are allowing PGP, so why not these?)

ARJ (see LZH comment)

Apple double resource fork

Apple single

Embedded OLE Object

Embedded OLE Package

Lotus 123

MS Project - MPP

Pattern matched

Win32 Unknown Executable

PKCS message

Then, is there any reason to allow any of these scripts in a business email message...

I use a laptop computer that was issued to me by the company I work for. They provided me with an Embarq mobile broadband air card to get high speed internet. Once connected to the air card, I access Outlook to get my business emails and do work related research on the internet using internet explorer. However, I also use the same computer to retrieve my personal emails by going to Internet Explorer then aol mail. I also visit several baseball websites using the company laptop. (My son is a minor league player.)

I know that if my IT department wanted to see what I've been doing on their laptop, they can request it, do a forensic search and see where I've been.

However, can the IT department see where I go on the internet, get my aol email password, etc. from the server at the office without me knowing it, when I use a mobile broadband air card?

PS: I don't go to any bad sites. And, this was not written on the company laptop.

A Chinese advertising company is responsible for two of the biggest waves of malware for both the Android and iOS ecosystems, a recent Check Point report reveals.

Yingmob, an advertising company based in Chongqing, China, is supposedly the group behind the YiSpecter iOS malware and the HummingBad Android malware.

Both function in the same way, meaning they infect devices to show ads and secretly install other applications, earning their creators money from pay-per-install programs.

Crooks making over $300,000 each month
Check Point estimates that HummingBad alone delivers over 20 million ads per day that achieve a click rate of 12.5 percent, which is the equivalent of 2.5 million clicks per day. Additionally, HummingBad installs over 50,000 fraudulent apps per day.

Putting all these numbers together, Yingmob earns over $3,000 per day from clicks alone and another $7,500 from fraudulent app installs. That's around $300,000 each month, or $3.6 million per year.

Check Point researchers say that HummingBad has managed to infect 85 million devices at the moment, and Yingmob has complete control over these smartphones because it illegally rooted the devices and can push any type of malware or make the devices take any action.

hello, Did my first build. Moved over the ssd and hdd's to new build. all seemed well and good, as I install all drivers from gigabyte disk. pc seem to run fine until I play an online game I like, battlefield bad company 2 ( played it a TON on old rig and never ever had a BSOD) . no after about 5 to 15 minutes of play its happened every single time I try to play.

not sure what all more info you need , but I will provide any info I can. just ask

I run win7 ultimate and ubuntu (WUBI install). I made a backup with acronis true image 2013 w/ plus pack, via a boot cd with plus pack. placed that backup onto a brand new ssd (I bought a second ocz vertex 3 thinking of doing a raid 0 setup but decide against it do to loss of TRIM) and it was odd as one os either ubuntu or win7 would boot and work with networking but not both. the two ssd's are the same so i simply unplug the new one and plugged in the old one into the new build. and every thing (both os with networking) work fine. UNTILL I try to play bc2.

I have added a second gtx680 in SLI , using the 3 way SLI connnector as the spacing of the x16 slots on the mobo.

I greatly appreciate your help with this issue, not sure if I can replace the ntoskrnl.exe or whatever else it may be.

I have read the guide to posting here and believe I have followed it. if I did something wrong , please bear with me and I will do it properly .

again, I greatly appreciate your helping me correct my issues.

thanks and good day

Anyway, your dumps point toward defective/corrupted memory.

Eh, may sound kind of strange but I think I have a stalker. Over the last few months I have been getting odd e-mails from this one person who I do not know (supposedly), now I have been getting messages left on my AIM by the same person. I set up a "spy link" in my profile and I now have that persons IP address. Is there anything I can do to somehow block that address and make myself invisible to this person?

A:XP: how to block an ip address

With most email clients you can just setup a rule to delete emails from a specified domain. You can set your AIM preferences to block certain users or only allow people in your buddy list to contact you.

What is even crazier is the fact if I log in as ADMINISTRATOR on that pc I still can not access the internet, but if I go in as a normal user... I can go on the net.

I'm on a network with SERVER 2000 and 6 PC's
The DNS range (from the router) is from to 150...

The IP address of the XP machine that still remains blocked is:
WIN2K pc was and change it to just to make it within the range. Didn't work.

Can I block the WIN2K pc from accessing the net with the admin tools from the server 2000 ? or do you have any tips that I can try from the router side. Please remember it did work. All I do is windows update and norton update. Just one day it stoped working.

Unless you use an ad-hoc network of some kind, I'm pretty sure they would need to go through a router that you are both connected to. You can employ MAC filters on a router pretty easily, on your computer it may be more difficult.

I am putting together an old system to use. I reformatted the 2.65 gig hard drive that I was given for free. Told it works though noisy. Ran into some problems getting win98 se installed but finally ok. Tried to install a free 3 month internet prog (bell sympatico) and when i was asked to reboot i got error msgs.

so i reformatted again thinking that maybe the internet disc was corrupted but now i have scandisk telling me that the lba MAY be incorrect.

i accepted the large disc formating (+512mb) it forced me to make a second drive. so i have c (formatted) and extended drive d (also formatted) which is active as a logical drive (or some such, the exact wording escapes me right now) what would be the best steps for me to take right now should i delete the partitions and start over and if so what exact steps should i take to partition? thanx berthasbutt

I have 2 computers connected to a router connected to DSL modem. Both computers have Kerio Personal Firewall. The logs keep showing that address sends out UDP through port 138. I read somewhere that this is a broadcast address. What is that?

Is it ok to block it? Will it affect file transfers between my 2 coms or the internet connection or something else?

A:Is it ok to block broadcast address?

It's a NETBIOS port for mapping a drive on the network. If you block it, it will probably affect drive mapping between the two computers. If you put your local LAN in the trusted zone for the firewall, this problem should not exist.

If your friend has high-speed internet, the IP address can be easily changed by simply unplugging the modem for a while, and then plugging it back in. I do this to change mine 2 or 3 times a week, just for the sake of privacy.

Is it possible to block emails from everyone else, except the ones listed in your addesss book? I couldn't find an option to do that. Hotmail has a feature to block mail except those on your contact list.
YOu'd figure OE has something as well.

I use OE 6.00.29 WinXP

I am tired of receiving those spam mails advertising some kind of stupid stock alert.
I also use Norton anti spam,. It used to block these, but it seems like they are now coming to my regular Inbox, instead of Norton's anti spam bnox.

The mails contain an image, along with regular text to fool the filters.
Thanks in advance,

Can someone tell me how to find a programs IP address so it cannot "call home". I tried blocking it with a firewall, but it still manages to "call home". For example, when using TuneUP Utilities 2010.

Thanks guys!

A:Finding a program's IP address to block

Use a firewall like Comodo or whatever you like. When a program tries to call home, firewall should detect the outbound connection and notify you if you want to allow or block it.

I have Vista now, and want to block my network from accessing specific IP addresses. When I had Windows XP, I used to use Sygate Personal Firewall to make advanced rules to do this. However, SPF does not work on Vista. What resource-lightweight solution can I use to block specific IPs? Thanks!

Night before last broadband went down for hours and helpline was back up with 2 hour delays.  After 5 hours service came back on, but when I clicked on my Google icon I got:  " www.google.com/cgi-bin/redirect.ha"  in the address bar along with the Error 404 notification.  Also the tab with the Error 404 on it had the ATT globe on the left.  I can't get rid of this particular page although I don't know much to try.  I can reach regular Google  by clicking on the icon showing the 'g' on the blue back- ground on the apps bar on the same page and I get a new tab and all goes okay from then on.
I tried deleting the address bar info and putting in the correct address from my other page and all goes well until I close that page, go back on and get the error msg again.   Related item or not, I checked my browser account activity and found 'Atom feed'.  I can't find out anything on that either.  I'm really curious about this; I use my laptop for browsing and email and that's about it.

A:Strange URL in address bar after broadband outage

Download Ccleaner and see if it solved your problem...
PS: just for safety sakes, i would turn off the router, and back on again...just so everything can start up normal (although this should have nothing to do with the url though...)

Hi everyone,

Since putting a commercial dvd into my pc the reader/writer I used will not write. I get the error message 'INVALID BLOCK ADDRESS' (immediately after the lead-in - which nicely ruins the disc, of course)!

I reinstalled the o.s. from an Acronis back-up and the writer worked - once. After that I had the same error message again.

I downloaded the device firmware update (which was already installed) and tried to install it again.
The installer reported that there were 8 such devices and asked whether I wanted to update them all!!

I then discovered that if I uninstalled the device proper, from within device manager, and rebooted I could write with it - but only once - thereafter I got the error message and another ruined disc! I have successfully done this several times just to use the writer the once each time.

This proves to me that the writer is not inherently 'duff' & neither is the prog (re-installed) or drivers. But how to effect a permanent cure?

Is it possible to find and 'uninstall' the 'ghost' devices (to which the prog obviously trys to write)? I can't find them!

Also, if I could find and remove them, is the device damaged by the dvd so that it will aalways re-install the 'ghost' devices?

Uninstalling and rebooting lets me write once every time using the ailing writer (it always reads incidentally).

Anyway, (without posting the fail log) that's all the info. The fail log by the way, sh... Read more

A trojan that's currently doing the rounds in Japan is using Windows itself to try to defeat security software on infected machines.
Trend Micro reports that the BKDR_VAWTRAK malware, which steals credentials used for online banking at some Japanese banks, is using a Windows feature called Software Restriction Policies (SRP) to prevent infected systems from running a wide range of security programs, including anti-virus software from Microsoft, Symantec, and Intel. A total of 53 different programs are blocked by the malware.

So this is the case: I recently visited a Chinese Website on my Windows XP system. I have to admit that I had no Antivirus or Antispyware software installed on my computer at the time. Any way, with the help of Yahoo' s Antispy Scan I found out that I had quite a lot of Spyware on my system. The're names: Cinmus A, CNNIC downloader, Quiq, Sogou, Cdn helper, pctools.dll, Cinmeng among others. I used Spybot(free version), Zone Alarm Internet Suite Trial, Xcleaner(free), CWShredder, Hijackthis, AVG AntiSpyware Trial, AVG Antivirus Trial, Avast Antivirus (free), Ad-Aware SE (free) & McAfee Internet Security Suite 30 day Trial. They removed most of the junk, but were unsuccessful in removing Cinmus A, pctools.dll and some of the registry keys from those nasty buggers. I'm not sure but it seems like not much of our top rated Antispyware/Antivirus programs can handle Chinese Adware & Spyware. Please HELP! I'm currently using McAfee Internet Suite trial which really does secure my system, but doesn't detect Cinmus A, and I can't delete or shred pctools.dll. Plus, McAfee Trial ends on the 1st Of July 2007 (so if I don't come up with something quick, I'm kinda screwed: cause all that stuff will phone home to China and reinstall themselves). I'm deperate. Please someone, HELP ME!
