Automatically start browser at specified time & page

Q: Automatically start browser at specified time & page

Hello,I want to make my browser start automatically weekly, same day and time and open a specified page.My questions are:1. I tried the Outlook way, like in MS tutorial http://support.microsoft.com/kb/254489.Well, in step 7 there is no "This is an Online meeting" check box in my window, and of course no "NetShow Services", so I can't conclude the setup; the question is what is wrong with Outlook (I use Outlook 2003).2. Is there any other smarter way to do this..?Thanx

Preferred Solution: Automatically start browser at specified time & page

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

hi,

i am using eset smart security 5 as my laptop antivirus...
then i connect the wireless in my college..after connected, i open my web browser..
before it show the web page i had to insert the username and password in "Web Authentication" page by cisco (https://1.1.1.1/login.html) setup by my college web technician..

the main problem is when i open the web browser...it's not automatically open that "Web Authentication" page..so i had to bookmark this https://1.1.1.1/login.html link then when i open the browser i had to type this https://1.1.1.1/login.html in the address bar so i can open this link...if i do not type this https://1.1.1.1/login.html link the browser will continue loading until it shown the "Problem loading page"...

i hope you guys can help me to solve this problem so that my browser can automatically open the https://1.1.1.1/login.html link without trouble me to type the link...i think this problem is caused by the eset antivirus...is there any solution without to remove eset antivirus...

sorry for bad english..

A:Web Authentication page not automatically open by web browser

I doubt it has much to do with eset, and everything to do with all of Cisco's software that colleges use to make you log in to the network sucking eggs. The easiest thing to do in XP (which is what I assume to be the main OS you're using based on the screen shot) is to either make the login page your homepage or add a short cut to it on your desktop. You should be able to just drag and drop the link from your favorites/bookmarks to the desktop.

hey guys, I have been using firefox as my browser for a while now. Lately I've noticed that if a page is open for a while, the browser automatically accesses some random link from the page that is opened. Also, this new link also opens in a new tab. When I click back on the original page, it goes back to my original page. Any kind of help with this will be appreciated.
Thanks

Maybe it's a problem with your mouse, I haven't really heard of this problem before.

Recently, my Opera internet browser has been starting up by itself when I boot the pc, and opens a page called extendedunlimited or a russian page. I uninstalled Opera, but then the same thing happened with Internet Explorer instead. I'm assuming this is adware of some kind? I've run a full scan with Malwarebytes, but nothing's been detected, same with Microsoft Security Essentials. I came across a similar topic, where the topic creator was told to run and post the logs from Adwcleaner and Farbar recovery scan tool, so I've included them below my DDS log. I'd like to know if it's safe to clean what Adwcleaner detected?

Hi all!

I didn’t want to dump a hackthis log on you all but I have this problem with IE. My default start page is being changed on regular bases. My start page should be http://www.msn.com but is being change to: http://linklist.cc/index.php?aid=240 This is driving me nuts. I ran Adware and System Mechanic 4 Professional parasite remover and removed all that they had found, but this is still happening. I think I know what to remove from the hackthis search but I would like a second opinion.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Folks,

My browser, FF 19.0.2 is getting slower in starting on both my computers. I have tried waiting at least 5 minutes after powering on my pc's before doing anything. Event Viewer shows nothing out of the ordinary. Is their any way to see just how long it takes other than a stopwatch.

A:Browser start time.

click the help tab in firefox and click restart with add ons disabled see if it start quicker, if so its an addon that is causing the problem,
then you can disable all the add ons and re enable them one at a time to eliminate which one it is.
restart firefox each time you re enable one.
also before trying the add ons you could open the add ons tab and see if there are any updates available for them first

I use Windows 98 (just to let u know).
My Internet Explorer (IE6) start page (previously www.yahoo.com) has been replaced by 'http://213.159.117.134/index.php'. I've tried changing my home page option in IE's properties back to www.yahoo.com, but the 'intruder site' keeps reseting the address field and coming back again...

I'll attempt to descibe what happens exactly once I'm connected to the net...
Once I've connected to the internet, opening IE takes me to 'http://213.159.117.134/index.php' , 'www.Cool Web Search.com', ’about:blank’, a few ads about fixing spyware on my pc and another window named 'tpx/open/console_out.php' or something like that...one after the other in succession...(then again, I’m not sure I got the order right…that isn’t important anyway…)

Once I get the 'tpx/open/console_out.php' window I find it necessary to close it immediately 'cuz if I let it load, it disconnects me from the internet , and my second attempt to connect back proves futile as I get a message saying 'The modem is being used by another Dial-up connection. Close the other connection and try again. ' (so I've learnt by experience...sigh...)

I don’t know if this message I encounter is related in any way to a Dail-up Connection dialog box which keeps popping up on my screen almost without reason randomly at any time, right from the moment I switch on my pc. This Dail-up Connec... Read more

Hi and welcome to TSG,

First click: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4086.html to download CWShredder, but don't run it yet.

Next click: http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/FxAgentB.exe to download the Backdoor.Agent.B Removal Tool from Symantec. Save the file to a convenient location, such as your Windows desktop.

Close all the running programs

If you are on a network or have a full-time connection to the Internet, such as a DSL or cable modem, disconnect the computer from the network and Internet.

Double-click the FxAgentB.exe file to start the removal tool.
When you receive the message telling you start any other applications, click OK.

Click Start to begin the process, and then allow the tool to run.
Restart the computer.

Run the removal tool again to ensure that the system is clean.

Be sure to save the log file the removal tool creates to post back here later.

Run CWShredder immediately. Click on the cwshredder.exe then click "Fix" (Not "Scan only") and let it do its thing.

Please download and run the following programs:

AD-AWARE

Go here: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

iii) the hdvid-codec v10

I have removed it from the "Uninstall list". When I try and uninstall, they said error occurred and it was removed from the list.

My browser, Firefox, requires more than 30 seconds to start up. It is a little faster after other programs have run and it is not the first to start.

Also when the computer boots up it turns on the floppy drive for a few seconds. This also happens when the browser is starting.

How can these nusances be corrected.

A:Browser takes long time to start

try disabling any addons and toolbars to see if it is any faster.

as far as your floppy drive at boot, thats normal. however, you can speed up the check by making sure it is not first in the bootorder - put it last.

Everytime I go to my toolbar in explorer to review internet options, the home page is set as

Every time I try to change it to the default page I want http://www.google.com/, it changes it in the box but when you check back it reverts back to

res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\shdocpa.dll/security.htm#subID=PRFV;6784

I haved scanned with SpyBot S&D and used AVG but have had no luck. I have windows 98, yes I know I'm way behind the times! I'm not an expert but ran regedit yesterday and found the above entry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/InternetExporer/main. The above value data is linked to the value name "Start Page". I tried modifying the data to google, but again it reverts back!

Would someone be able to help me with this and guide me with what I should do?

I don't use IE, I use Opera portable
It was not registered as the default browser which it is now,
Clinking on web links within applications (help & support links for example) opens the browser ok, but only to my start page, not to the intended web page.
Also, when I click on a HTML file, it does the same thing. Opens the browser to the start page, not the file.

It's not recognizing the link or the file.

I went through the URL Associations etc. in the registry and they all point to Opera. Protocols point to Opera also. I was successful the 1st time I tried this, but I don't remember exactly how that was different that this time. (I had to load a recent backup image for other unrelated problems left over from a bloated program I couldn't clean out).

Any ideas??

For a few months now, every time I plug in my pc for charging, internet browsers start popping up repeatedly. It's unbearable. Whenever I try typing something, the page constantly refreshes itself so whatever I've typed gets erased. I've scanned using Bit defender, Avast, Microsoft Security Tool, Malwarebytes..you name it. Whenever it isn't charging it works as usual.... I've done a clean reinstall and nothing has solved it..any idea of what it could be or what I could do to solve this?

So the other day my browser was being redirected when clicking on my search results. The browser would also shut off automatically. I downloaded MalwareBytes, AVG and SuperAnti Spyware the only thing they found was Exploit.PDF. Now the AVG components have been removed, so nothing is running that can really protect me, Ive run Highjack this so i have the log files for that. I can log into windows in normal mode, i can browse the internet, after "removing" Exploit.PDF the browser re-direction has been reduced but still occurs as well as shutting down firefox.Any help would be great. ThanksEdit: Moved topic from XP to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

I would try installing Avira Free, updating same...then running a complete scan.http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Anti...nload-6527.html Click on the Softpedia Secure Download (US) button.Although Malwarebytes is a good tool, it cannot find/remove everything that might cause such problems (IMO).Louis

I am using free avast for my av program. I have using avast for many years and have been happy with it. Just recently I just upgraded to 2014 and it takes a long time between pages to go from page to page (10- 40 sec) that is too long and I am getting older with not to much time to live, and I do not want to waste it waiting for a page change. If I disable avast and run without av the pages zip by rather rapidly. So my problem is with avast enabled..has anybody had the same problem? Should I switch to an other free av prog???
Kas

A:Avast 2014 takes a long time from page to page

First thing I would try is to disable the Avast Browser add-ons if you are using them.

If that doesn't help, some other things you can try:
Do a Repair Avast.
Set up exclusions for your browser(s) in Avast.
If you're using a 3rd party Firewall, check the settings.
Do an uninstall using the Avast clean utility and re-install Avast.
Post your issue/question on the Avast forum, maybe someone there has seen this and knows an answer.

Hello: I just received some windows updates as well as upgrading to Internet Explorer 7.
Note: I had to remove IE 7 the other day as I was having issues opening certain webpages.

Anyway, IE 7 seems to be navigating fine, other than the fact that when I click on my desktop icon to launch Internet Explorer it opens to a webpage that allows you to Customize Your Settings.

Although, I have www.google.com as my home page within Internet Options (General tab), Google does not open, but rather http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=69157 opens then quickly converts to http://runonce.msn.com/runonce2.aspx which then opens the Customize Your Settings webpage.

I noticed that the default setting in Internet Options is displayed as http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=69157 , so I tried to change that to www.google.com, but it reverts back to http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=69157 .

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Ted569

A:Home page automatically opens to "Customize Your Settings" page

That is new with IE7.0. You should only have to run through the customization once though. Then click "Go To My Homepage." That should be all. Have you done that yet?

I had a question: How do i get to the little menu where I can choose which applications automatically start up when Windows starts up and which do not? I forgot how to get to that menu but I remember that I could check and uncheck which things would start up, etc. The reason for this is because everytime I start windows, it tries to load my scanning software which I don't need started anymore due to the scanner not being connected at all anymore, and the uninstallation not going as properly as it should of.. but it just bugs me that it tries to connect to the scanner (with about 3-4 attempts) when Windows starts so this is my best option...

That is not a setting accessible to you, sometimes it is offered by the webpage itself though. You can hit the F5 button to refresh your page if you want a quick way to do it.

I am running Windows XP Pro, IE 7.

When I have connected my laptop at my office to a flat screen and pressed Fn F8 to display on there, any webpage - once I click somewhere on it - automatically zooms down to 10% size. I cannot fix this once it occurs, until I disconnect the display and reboot.

If I press Zoom > 100%, it Zooms to 100% then quickly zooms out to 10%.

Apologies if this is a well-known issue, but I searched Microsoft for zoom related problems, and this didn't come up.

This zooming problem only occurs in IE, no other programs.

Thanks

Its not a hardware issue. It happen regardless of whether I use mouse or touch pad. I scanned with BitDefender and MalwareBytes AntiMalware. Neither of them could solve the issue. I restored to a previous point and the problem persists.

eg, when I open my facebook, it keeps scrolling down through my news feed without stopping loading new stuff and keeps going down. and If i press my windows key iam able to stop it momentarily and i can scroll upwards and when I remove my finger it starts scrolling down again.Help.
