Preferred Solution: Lenovo Essential B590 MBX29IV-Can this run MKV 1080p files?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Lenovo Essential B590 MBX29IV-Can this run MKV 1080p files?

Based simply on the specs you have listed, it should be fine for 720p but may not do 1080p as the screen resolution may not go high enough.

You have listed the resolution as 1366x768 which should be fine for 720p (1280x720) but 1080p (1920x1080) may be too high for it.

Hello. Yesterday I have dropped my 4 years old Lenovo B590 and I left it alone for a day. Today I'm trying to turn it on and I have a trouble with it. When I do it for the first time it says it does the Automatic Repair and Diagnosing Your PC, and then shows the Automatic Repair blue page with options to Restart and Advanced Oprions. And if I Restart it, it is then stuck on Lenovo first page and does not load further. So then I have to turn it off and on again. And there is Automatic Repair again. So what shall I do? Cause I have a lot of more or less important documents and it would be bad to lose them. Thank you in advance

If you have a data on the hard drive that is important to you, I would take your computer to a reputable local computer shop and have them try to backup your data.    It is possible that the drop damaged the hard drive, but the fact that it tries to boot at very all is a good sign, so there is a good chance that your data can be backed up.  In a worst case scenario, you may have to replace the hard drive (which are not too expensive), but it may be repairable too, but if you data is irreplaceable, I would not touch it until I had a backup in hand. Good Luck,

Almost a year ago now. I had a error for my fan on my lenovo b590 show up, I took it apart. Ordered a new fan from eBay and well it wouldn't fit. It was a little bigger than the old fan. I'm ready to finally fix it again. Can someone give me the link of where to buy a new fan. One that will fit it. On amazon, eBay or another site that is decently priced. I don't want to order another and it not fit. Please and thank you

A:Lenovo b590 fan error

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !
Have you tried doing a search using the part number on your old fan?  The Hardware Maintenance Manual for your model is showing two part numbers for the fan and heat sink assembly.  That may  account for why your first replacement didn't fit.  I am also assuming that you are looking for the fan only without the heat sink.  Here is what is shown on page #85 of the manual....
LB59A Thermal Module UMA W/FAN  90201914
LB59A Thermal Module DIS W/FAN  90201913

Hi, I have a B590, Model: 20206. It has Intel Pentium 2020M 2.4 Ghz CPU, 4 Gb of RAM (1 stick), and a HDD hard drive. 1. I understand I can upgrade the CPU to Intel I5-2520M. However, in one of the previous posts, it was mentioned that: "1. Ensure that you purchase the CPU with the Lenovo FRU # on the box. 2. The significant increase between the stock CPU and the Intel I5-2520M is small. If the upgrade cost of the new CPU is minimal then this would be a good investment in speeding up the machine. " What does Lenovo FRU # mean? Does it have to be a specific number or can any Lenovo FRU work? What if I don't get one with Lenovo FRU? Also, how much boost in performance (in percentage) can I expect by upgrading the CPU? 2. For RAM, my current model uses 1 stick of 4Gb ram, so I can add another stick for 8 Gb total right? I understand the following are the needed specs: PC3-12800 DDR3 SDRAM SO-DIMM 204-pin. However, I'm not sure what voltage/speed (Mhz) I should get.  I cannot find the voltage or Mhz info for my current RAM. Please advise. 3. For SSD, I believe any 2.5' SSD with 7mm thickness would work right? Thanks

Hi, I want to add RAM to my B590.'System' tells me that I have 4GB installed. I found this in one of the forums: I?m glad to inform you that the RAM can be upgradable up to 8GB (4GB x 2) and with the specification DDR3 PC3-12800 (204-pin SODIMM) will be compatible with your B590 Laptop. ...which is helpful, but unfortunatley doesn't tell me whether I may have 1 x 4GB installed or 2 x 2GB - is both possible?if so, how can I tell what I got? (I'm not familiar with the hardware, so I'm not comfortable simply opening the thing up and looking around, at least not without instructions) thanks a caboodle ! :-) helm

I have a Lenovo B590 which was working correctly. However, this morning I tried starting it and this is what happens :

The power indicator lits on for about 2 seconds, and the fan starts running. Nothing on the screen. Than, it shuts off. fan stops. For about 2-3 seconds. And then it lites up again. And this sequence repeats itself. I've checked the battery and the charger and they are ok. So, what's next???

My Lenovo B590 was working fine yesterday, today suddenly I can't make it boot up. I have recorded a video that demonstrates the behaviour of the Laptop on Power On:https://youtu.be/T9IcxsIgRcE It remains in an endless loop of powering up for a sec, making some click-sound and turning off immediately. Longpress power button ends the loop. AC cable is connected, battery is inserted. Things I tried that didn't solve the issue:Power On only with AC cable (normally and with 20 sec long Power press)Power On only with battery (normally and with 20 sec long Power press)Removing both RAM and trying it with one each in each of both RAM slotsProbably an issue with the motherboard? Anything else I could try?

A:Lenovo B590 not Booting at all

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !
Sorry to hear of the problem you are experiencing.  I would try removing the optical drive and then try powering the laptop up.  If that doesn't work then remove the hard drive and power up.  Since the click sounds mechanical in nature, that would lead me to suspect either one of those devices.  If the laptop powers up with a drive removed then suspect that drive as being faulty.
Your model's User Guide will explain how to remove those drives.  Here is a link to that manual for your reference.....

I have a B590 that came with Windows 7 Pro. I have been trying to get it to boot from USB and nothing seems to work.
I have the settings in the Bios at,
Under Boot Tab
Change Boot mode to Legacy
USB Boot should be enabled
Under Security
Secure Boot is disabled
and I set USB at first boot device.

As soon as I save and exit from Bios, it boots Windows.
I reboot and use F12 and click USB and it boots to Windows.
I have tried a Data Traveler and a Patriot Slate.
I have made them bootable in diskpart and tried FAT and FAT32.

Does anyone have any knowledge about this? I asked this in Lenovo forum, but I figure you guys are smarter.

A:Lenovo B590 wont boot from usb

Hello philetus now this begs the question what is on that USB stick? If it some form of Windows 7 media I am wondering how you managed to get it on a stick and also have you updated the USB drivers.

I am also concerned that you have been into the BIOS and changed it around like that not that I am any great expert on what should be changed, but I do know I had to change a few of the EUFI settings on my Asus ROG to get it to boot 7 which included changing the BIOS to the latest version before I could install 7 drivers.
This is the complete list for 7 64bit and the USB is second from bottom Laptops and netbooks :: Lenovo B Series laptops :: Lenovo B590 Notebook - Lenovo Support (US) -

Just a by the by EUFI BIOS on a laptop is in my experience harder to figure out than a desktop machine.

With the Firmware configured as follows, will installing Windows automatically format the Hard Disk Drive with a GPT (GUID Partition Table) and remove the FreeDOS which I don't need?

I recently bought Lenovo B590 laptop, installed Windows 8.1 Pro on it, downloaded/installed latest drivers from Lenovo from my laptop. I see a quite a lot blue screen errors. Most likely these started to appear after I installed and played "return to ravenhearst" game. But even I have uninstalled the game I still get the errors.

I downloaded test tools (memory, vide, motherboard, pci express) from Lenovo websites but they could not locate any problem (I ran these tests only once for a single pass).

I also executed "sfc /verifyonly" command and it found no problem.

Mini dumps are attached. Can someone please have a look at them and pin point the problem?

Can you please provide links to the page(s) where you got the Lenovo tests? I'm not familiar with them and would like to see how they compare with the tests I recommend.

For starters:

At work we start all repairs with a set of diagnostics. Often they find problems that weren't even expected. It's a waste of time to try to fix software on a system that has hardware problems.
Please try these free diagnostics for starters: Initial Hardware Diagnostics
Also, please ensure that you have ALL available Windows Updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

Out of 5 memory dumps there were 4 different BSOD error codes. The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things:
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
- overclocking/overheating - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers)
- low-level driver problems
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnost... Read more

A:Lenovo B590 + Win 10 = WiFi problem

Hi Swarm23 ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
Just a headsup B590 may be affected by Win10 upgrade as a non supported model.
Windows 10 Upgrade Guide - IdeaPad and Lenovo NotebookLenovo supported systems list for Windows 10 Upgrade
After upgrading to Windows 10, some software or hardware functions of your computer might be unavailable. In addition, some software issues might occur. Installing the latest Windows updates, device drivers, and application updates may fix these issues
Same reasons why support site do not have compatible driver available at the moment.
What you can try is to go to the device manager and right click on the Wireless card under network adapter . Choose properties. Uncheck box on Power management tab "Allow to turn off to save power".
Go to Advance tab and set roaming aggressiveness / tendency to highest and restart .
Check if there is a better connection , else proceed with choosing native driver offered by Windows .
Go to device manager and right click to update drivers , browse my computer , let me pick from the list and choose among those offered . Try each offered driver starting from top.
Update us how it goes.

For a Lenovo B590, Model number 59410449, which has the i5 processor, what is the maximum amount of memory that is supported?
Mine shipped with 6 GB.  I'm worried that if the max is 8GB, I will have to buy two 4GB memory sticks.
Does anyone know what the maximum for this model number is?  Am hoping it is 16 GB!

A:B590 - Memory for Lenovo Model 59410449

Hi AC2000 ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
Based on the product specification for this model , memory :
8GB max7 / PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3, non-parity, two 204-pin SO-DIMM sockets; * System automatically clocks down for processors with 1333MHz memory controller
This is the recommended Max memory supported for your model eventhou some processors can handle more (example : 15- 4310U handling 16 GB) since certain consideration are maintained by the systemboard and BIOS for full functionality and avoid non essential upgrades for users.
Your 6 GB ram probably have 2GB and 4 GB (PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3) at the moment so you can simply match the a similar 4GB to max it to 8GB and be able to use dual channel synch for faster communication and transfer.
Hope this helped answer your query.
Update us what works best for you.

My Windows 10 Anniversary version broke down on my laptop Lenovo B590 some days ago. After trying several solutions in UEFI I changed the BIOS to load first from DVD/USB and after that I can't do anything - only first standard Lenovo screen shows up and then blank screen - tap Enter - no reaction. Using F2, F12, F9/Fn and/or Delete/Esc buttons don't help and nothing else. Esc gives "Entering Diagnostich Splash Screen" and then blank screen. Conclusion, impossible to get into UEFI any more.I then created a bootable USB with ISO image using Media Creation tool from my wife's/this laptop. Then trying to use the (restricted) repair function from USB without success - then tried to make a clean install but got error message saying that the partition on laptop was GPT version partition and the iso image don't fit to this. Then downloaded the ISO file directly using Media Creation tool and then used Rufus 2.10 to create a GPT partion for UEFI - but the Lenovo laptop would not react on the USB tool at all - meaning blank screen only.(Trying to create  the MBR partition version with Rufus on USB gave the same result as with the USB from Media Creation tool with the message that the partition on my Lenovo was GPT and therefore the MBR could not be used!)I have now talked to Microsoft support who could not help but referred to this community for help - so ....help, please?

I've just bought this laptop, and it came with windows 8 preinstalled, and I'm trying to install Windows 7 on it.

I have a bootable usb, which I've used many times to install Windows on my other laptops, but the B590 just wont do it. I feel like I've tried everything. I changed the boot priority order in BIOS with USB HDD as number 1 but it still just boots into windows 8.

I've tried removing everything but USB devices from the boot order, and now I get this boot menu:

Which is exactly what I want to boot from, but when I press enter to boot from the USB device, nothing happens. It's incredibly frustrating.

The USB device IS bootable with a primary partition. I've used these steps to make it bootable in DISKPART:

After having no luck on the B590, I tried booting on the USB on a different computer, and it works perfectly well. Starts installing windows 7. So it seems like the problem is not with my usb device.

I even tried restoring the USB drive and using Lenovo Bootable Generator application to make the usb bootable, with the same result.

Can anyone help?

A:How to install SSD Disk on Lenovo B590 model 6274

hi nonesofar13,
Welcome to the Forums.
The B590 (6274) does support an SSD and you can opt to get a 2.5" or an mSATA form factor.
- Sample items
- Sample items
Since you already have a HDD, you can try to get an mSATA SSD and make it as your boot drive and just make the HDD a storage drive (i.e., For picture, movies, etc.).

Alternatively, you can just replace the HDD with a 2.5" SSD and optionally get an caddy or a SATA enclosure to convert the HDD as an external drive.

Hi I have changed boot order and also I have disabled UEFI in order to install linux on other partition(not done yet). as I always do on other laptops. But now after changing to legacy mode I cannot access BIOS anymore. I got pxe-e61 error. OK so I insert USB linux drive and it is working properly with live boot.  But I realy need to boot Windows, but it is not possible becoáuse of UEFI being turnd off. Also It is not possible to access bios, because BIOS was accessed from recovery windows menu, whitch doesnt load anymore. Also when it is booting up (lenovo logo) I press esc (no other keys are workind) which open menu where I "can" boot to BIOS. So I press F1 menu dissapears but I end up with same PXE-E61 error. Any advice how to enter BIOS and change it back to UEFI mode ? thanks

A:Lenovo B590 cannot access BIOS - UEFI disabled

I hope you meant to say Lenovo B590, because I cannot find any reference to a Lenovo G590 Not sure why, but others have reported that to regain access to the BIOS, you have to do the following. remove the battery and power, then remove the back panel.remove the BIOS battery.    See page 44, 45 and 52 of the Hardware Maintenance Manualleave it for a couple of minutes (I would say 5 minutes or more).replace the BIOS battery and the cover, then the battery and then the powerBoot up and use F1 / F2 to go into the bios Hardware Maintenance Manual Lenovo B590https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/b590_hmm_en.pdf I hope it works for you too. Good Luck,

my harddisk went dead (click-click) so i took one from another laptop and formatted. got a boxed win 8 but i can't install. Secure boot is off - I can access the bios but when i boot up all i get is a blinking cursor and black screen. the PC came originally  with an oem install. I think the gpt table is missing (or something).

Have you tried to format the drive as part of the install? What is the HDD size?

Hello! I have an Lenovo b590 (the one with intel i5) with nvidia 610m. I would like to upgrade my graphics card to a better one. I've done some research and i've seen that on most laptops, the graphics card is soldered on the motherboard. The graphics card on b590 is upgradable?

A:Lenovo B590 power adapter making click noise not booting at all

Hi rezaulhasan ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
You can follow the power checkout guide as shown here on the hardware manual ( page 30-31).
Checking on the LED status on each attempt would provide information on possible points of failure.
Likewise while the machine is off, use the recovery button (item15 page79) to power on as this can also help isolate if the power button itself is having the issue or if the adapter / motherboard that needs further rechecking .
Update us how it goes.

Hi,  My first post here and I'm wondering if anyone has upgraded their Lenovo from a 720p TN screen to a 1080p IPS screen? I own a Lenovo T460 20FMS1YT00 - with a 14inch 720p TN screen. I'm having trouble finding a screen upgrade. I've also read that you need a cable upgrade too when you go to 1080p from 720p? Any help would be appreciated on what screen and cable I need exactly. Thanks.

Which ram is best for upgrading the ram in lenovo H410e desktop and what is the maximum frequency of RAM supported in the DIMM slot? Also plz suggest me a good power supply of 500 watt and a good ASUS Graphic card..Plz help me..

A:Lenovo Essential H410e Desktop upgrade

I had H410e for more than 2 years and right now it supplied with 8GB ram (4GBx2 10600 PC 1333 DDR3). Maybe it can be 16GB max (8GBx2). You can use either 10600 PC 1333 or 12800 PC1600 DDR3 (make sure if you want to use 2 dimm memory, it has a same speed (PC1333 or PC1600). I've upgraded the original powersupply with FSP Hexa Plus 500W 80 Plus (you can choose another brand powersupply like Seasonic, Super Flower etc. but make sure it was pure power (80 plus) For graphics card, i'm using Sapphire ATI Radeon 6670 and running well. *I've tested it with Ati Radeon 5570 and 5670, no problem. I think even Ati Radeon 7750 will be great in H410e, just make sure you must upgrade the original powersupply to higher watt (> 500 watt) before use that graphics card

Hello. I just bough a screen for my computer.
I am using Windows 7 Professional 64bit.
Radeon HD5850 1GB graphic card.
Using HDMI cable

And I was hoping to get a great screen in 1920x1080 resolution by buying this screen. After reading like 10 reviews on google search it was a great match to my demands.

Then I got the screen, and tested it. However when I selected to run in 1920x1080, the quality was horrible!
I try to do print screen, but only the analog display is horrible, not the results on the computer.

However if I tune this down to 1600x1200 resolution, it looks great. But I want to have the full 1920x1080 effect not the 1600x1200 effect.

I checked the drivers, and it says my latest driver is "2009/10/29_001003". Witch looks like a recent date.

I have tried to google any specific drivers for this screen for vista/Win7 that got a newer date than my drivers. Without any luck.

I try to google other people who have same problem as me, however, I only get to 1000x different reviews of this monitor, fake driver download/repair sites and such things.

I got very mixed up feelings about this. I do not know if I shall try to deliver back the screen, or that 1920x1080p isn't for computers? Or maybe HDMI cant run 1920x1080p? Is it a malefactor fault? Shall i just stick to the screen and appreciate that it works good in 1600x1200, I mean it isn't that much lower. But I keep dreaming that the screen is originally made for 1080p and that the screen quality wil... Read more

Hello everyone! I ama new user and i am coming up with this post as I couldn`t find any kind of solution for my problem.Recently I decided to do a reinstallation of my operating system, which also previously was Windows 7 Ultimate (x64). The installation went as usual, and after finishing it I went on to install all the latest drivers from the Lenovo site, for my product. When getting close to installing almost all the drivers i`ve needed, i stumbled upon a new version of the BIOS amnd the drivers and sfotware recommended for my laptop, by the producer. So i proceeded to install the upgrade, restarted the computer when it prompted me to do so, but after the so-called restart the laptop did not boot up as usual. At first it was telling me to not do anything as the BIOS is being flashed and then it was telling me something about some sort of image processing, things that i did not understand at the time (i have never encountered anything like that). After that my screen turned black. I have not done anything for a few couple of minutes as i thought it was supposed to be like that, but then i just force shut it down and unplugged the AC adapter. When trying to boot it all up again, the only thing i got was a black screen and nothing else. After doing a little bit of research it appears that, somehowm i`ve managed to corrupt the bios on my laptop or something, and nothing else would work at this point. I tried to remove the BIOS battery and the ram and then put them all back, trye... Read more

My computer has a 64GB SSD and a 1TB HDD. When I first installed the SSD, I did a complete wipe on everything and set it up so Windows and essential boot and running files would be on the SSD, while my HDD served as a drive for storage and programs, basically everything else.
It's been running fine for a while, but over time my SSD has been filling up and I'm not exactly sure what's been causing it. I try and make a point to place everything I install into my E drive (the hdd). Most of the time it's automatic. Right now it only has 10.1 GB left in it's capacity, so I'm not in the red yet, but I wanna get this problem taken care of early and keep it taken care of so it won't be a problem again.
Alright then, so let's go over it.
10.1 GB free of 59.5 GB, so that means 49.4 GB is being used up.
Going down the properties of each folder in my C drive... (including hidden)
AMD, 138 KB
Intel, 921 KB
PerfLogs, 0 B
Program Files, 525 MB
Program Files (x86), 6.50 GB
ProgramData (hidden), 16.8 GB
SuperChargerProfile (hidden), 270 B
Users, 5.24 GB
Windows, 23.0 GB
Using a byte calculator, this adds up to 52.05371 GB. hey, that's not 49.4. what gives? My folder options are set to show everything hidden.
Anyway, the size of my Windows file has more than doubled since I did my initial tweaks. How can I fix this and keep it from happening again?
Also, is there any way I can set it so I can view the size of my folder contents in the size category? It's all b... Read more

A:Need some tips on emptying my SSD for essential files only

For purposes of comparison only...my Win 7 partition on this system is 60GB, I currently have 42GB of free space on that partition.  Most of my apps are installed on my XP partition, but it's not programs that take up hard drive space...it's data files.  And there is absolutely no reason at all to have data files on a SSD, IMO.
In any case, you can use WinDirStat - http://download.cnet.com/WinDirStat/3000-2248_4-10614593.html to see detail on what is where and how large/how much.
