My Lenovo U410 Touch recently got damaged - the hinge broke causing the touch screen to **bleep**.I was told that a repair was not feasible as none of the repair shops near me were able to source the parts needed.I therefore bought a new laptop. However, there is a lot of data on the old laptop that I want to access, including sorting out the licensing of MS Office (by uninstalling from the old one).I cannot do anything about it as the old machine is completely unusable as due to the touch screen being cracked, it seems to think it is constantly being touched in multiple places on the screen. This means that I cannot access the laptop to copy the data or uninstall Office. Anyone know any way around this that doesn't involve taking it to a repair shop to "recover" my data. I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
I, too, have had the same issue that users in this thread are reporting. I have a U410 bought in the spring of 2014. There was a break at the hinge and the screen is separating from the lid. I've never dropped the computer, this issue arose one day after general, every day use. I've attached photos of the issue for others to reference.

I am not having a very good repair experience. My exactly (to the date) 1 year Ideapad U410 hinge broke. Was not dropped or put pressure on - just poor workmanship. Sent to the 'authorized' repair centre in NOrth Bay Canada. Turn around time is 7 business days. All I get is a message - waiting for parts. This is terrible when a large company like Lenovo can't get parts where needed.I am going through a very rough time as my business is affectedRead other 9 answers
Hi there, I've repaired a broken Lenovo "U410 Touch" with "U410"-parts (LCD, backcover, hinges, and front bezel had to be replaced). Everything went fine, but there's still the loose, ripped up cable that was already loose before my repair.I see only two options for the cable: the white 2-pin socket "CN21", where I couldn't find out what should be connected there, or the 2nd antenna-cable. But the cable does not really look like an antenna cable, it seems to have no shield. Please help me identify the cable or the connector. I've searched a lot for images, no luck. You can see the large LCD-connector for orientation:??Read other answers

Hi Magnutus, welcome to the forums.
Please check if you Lenovo S210 is on warranty under with this tool.
After that you can open a ticket with Lenovo for the screen to be fixed, if it is not under warranty it will have a cost.
If you are the guys that like to fix it yourself (and it is not under warranty) I can recommend you to check the support site for your model, read the Hardware Maintenance Manual (on the documents area) and check how the machine is organized on the inside. On the parts lookup page you can find the parts number so you can find a replacements for the component that is giving you issues.
I hope this links helps you.
Hey everybody, I just received my P40 last week as a replacement for another Lenovo device. So far, everything seems to work fine with one exception: When I turn the screen over to the "tablet position", the touch screen and the touch pen show erroneous behaviour.a) As soon as I make the first input with the touch pen, I cannot make any further input with my finger, so the touch input is simply turned off. The Windows setting to ignore touch input when the stylus is used is not active.b) When I try to tap buttons at certain areas of the screen, especially at the upper edge, the cursor of the stylus starts jumping around and shows up at the lower edge of the screen. That means that when I for example tap on the "X" symbol in the upper right corner to close a window, I actually click on some of the symbols in the system tray in the lower right corner. This problem stops occuring as soon as the angle between the two case parts (screen and keyboard) reaches/exceeds approx. 40°. It does not matter if Windows is in "Tablet" or "Desktop" Mode. I already tried to manually install another Wacom driver mentioned at https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Wacom-Tablet-Service-for-ISD-Driver-Win... and https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/P40-Yoga-issues/td-p/3293985. I had no luck trying driver versions 18.104.22.168, 22.214.171.124 and 126.96.36.199. I would really appreciate your help since this issue makes working in the tablet position... Is it possible to upgrade from the stadard U410 the touch model? I know my compluter uses LCD screen B140XTN02.0, but can I just get B140XTN02.3 with the touch screen and digitizer or will there be a missing connection somewhere? If there is, is there a way around that?
I have the same question, though slightly different. According to the service manual for the U410, two LCD panels are compatible with the U410: B140XTN02.0 non-touch and N140BGE-LB2 touch. I have a hp pavilion touchsmart 15-n029so. Unfortunately my touch screen is defect, so 5-6 points on the screen is constant active. Until recently I managed to disable the driver for only the touch driver (not the screen) through device manager, but then a lately update for windows 10 activated the driver again. So now the 5-6 points is constant active, and I cannot login because the screen will not focus on the login field. This means I cannot login to windows 10. I have also tried to start safe mode (turning off computer repeatly, so it starts up in safe mode), but here the touch screen driver is also active. How can I disable the touch screen driver without login into windows 10?Read other answers
Hi,My U410 touch, like many others, got the hinge problem that lead to brake the glass of the touch screen, the PC display got crazy and I fought 2 hours trying to enter a command to disable the tactile function without success until I connected my laptop to my TV screen through the HDMI port and all of a sudden everything stopped on the display and successfully disabled the tactile function (Human Interface Device) , my U410 is a 6892CTO machine type, having searched for a replacement part for the defective touch screen, I found it too expensive and is not worth the game,My question, can I replace the touch screen by a regular LCD display that would fit my U410 ? the LCD displays for U410 seem to be far cheaper, if we can do that I would save my U410 for a while, yes it won't be tactile any longer but :-) I look for the answer to my question before posting and couldn't find it. Can you help ?ThanksJohnRead other answers
Hello! I'm hoping someone here might be able to help me. I'm running on Windows 8.1. Tonight, certain keys on my keyboard stopped working. These are the: 5, 6, F1, F2, +/=, -/_, home and end keys. The touchsceen keyboard still works, and an extenal keyboard plugged in also works. I have already tried uninstalling the driver and there are no updates available. Prior to this happening, I did have a brief glitch where the number 6 kept slipping in randomly while I typed. I assumed it to be stuck, but, well...now it isn't working at all. Could it be a physical issue with the keyboard? These are pretty random keys to go out all at once. Thanks very much!Read other answers
Last month I had to reformat my hard drive, and lost most of my settings.
Now that my computer is mostly up to speed again, I have two issues I don't remember how I fixed:
Whenever I wake my computer up, the touchpad turns on, even if I disabled it. Before I reformatted, I was able to disable it while a USB mouse was plugged in, but since I reformatted, none of the sites or tutorials I've read match the options my computer lists.
Secondly, I want to get rid of the lock screen, as its completely useless. I had removed it before, but again, I can't seem to repeat how I did it last time.
Any help would be great.

We got a new hp pavilion laptop recently, it has a touch screen. When using it to scroll down a page, it automatically magnifies. We then close thumb/index finger to shrink the copy to original size, over and over again.
We do not want the magnification, it's annoying. How do I disable it?
Is there anyway to tell windows 8, "I'm not using a touch screen so stop telling me to tap things via messages"? I'm using a desktop.
2 possiblities, i've seen both of these work
Go to Control Panel, then Hardware and Sounds.Select Pen and Touch and go to the Touch tab.
At the top is "Use your finger as an input device." Uncheck it.
Click Apply and then OK.
Press the Windows logo key + X.
Select Device Manager from the list.
Click the little arrow next to Human Interface Devices to expand the list.
Click the touch screen driver (in my case, NextWindow Voltron Touch Screen).
Right-click, and select Disable from the list.
Click Yes on the dialog box that asks if you are sure you want to disable the touch screen driver.
Give them both a try

First do a Power Drain
(If the battery is removable)
Remove AC and Battery and hold the power button down for 15 sec.
Turn the computer back on and see if the Touch capability is now detected under System Properties,
I suggest you contact Lenovo Technical Team about the Issue as this may be a device detection issue.

Why? because my Samsung ATIV Book 9 plus screen has a slight crack, I mean barely noticable, but it totally wrecked the touch screen as in it starts to freak out. little circles come up on it as if it is being touched and so, it seems when I disable the touch screen that does not happen. But when I restart the computer it enables itself. Also sometimes it enables itself in the middle of the computer being on. I have gone to the Human Interface Devices and even clicked on the uninstall of the touch screen, but it installs itself right back in minutes. I can disable it, then if I restart, it is enabled again. And it can mess with things when it is enabled as it starts flipping out.
So, I want to be able to have it permanently disabled somehow. Is that a possibility? and it is incredible if it is not. I do not want to spend for a new laptop screen. The crack is barely visible, actually, but it is there from top to the bottom of the screen but barely visible.
Using Autoruns, you have to hunt down all the EXEs, DLLs, etc etc etc that involve the touchscreen operations, and disable said files. I did that for my extra antivirus program [now mummified] -- and it has not come back to life since then.Read other 8 answers

The laptop has vertical lines of dead pixels running across the screen and I want to get the LCD replaced. Now the non touch screen model of this laptop has a Full HD variant (1920x1080) as opposed to the standard 1366x768 WXGA HD display while the touch models only come with the WXGA HD LCDs. Can I replace the LCD of my touch screen model with the FHD one? I have been able to detach the digitiser from the LCD itself and have the hinges and screws so I would assume it would be a simple case of changing one LCD with the other. The replacement touch screen models all come with the digitizer and hinges attached which is not something I require so it would be easier (and cheaper!) if I only got the LCD replaced. Lastly, if this is possible, do I need to purchase any additional cables? If so, which one? Thanks in advance.
You're going to need at least the FHD wiring harness:
and the bezel
You may or may not be able to re-use the back cover/hinge assembly - usually these are different between non-touch and touch versions.

Hello, My Thinkpad Yoga is connected to a large display through ThenkPad docking station. Its lid is closed. During my work, from time to time I see random touch clicks on my screen, and random opening of menus. It is clear that the touch screen is active although the lid is closed. When I open the lid, and still connected just to the 2nd display (large screen) display the phenomena stops. Worth noting is that although only the 2nd display shows an image, the laptop touch screen is still sensetive to touch. This is I guess why the random touches show up on the screen -- it feels the keyboard not fingers. I expect the touch screen to be disabled while the lid is closed or when projecting only to the 2nd screen. The solution of opening the lid while connected to the docking station is not acceptable. Lenovo's local support suggestion to disable touch for the Yoga is also not acceptable -- people purchase Yoga to get Touch. A solution please! Yaron

The touchscreen stopped working suddenly on my Envy TouchSmart Sleekbook 4-1115dx. The trackpad (from how it seems) causes Windows to switch to touch mode on the W541. What triggers touch mode?- Using the trackpad;- Unlocking the laptop. So why care if the W541 does not have any touch capabilities anyway?- Apps switch to touch mode which enlarges elements and makes work inefficient;- Websites switch to touch mode which makes certain web elements unusable;- The notifications button is moved off the screen for a while (see attachment);- The famous touch keyboard button shows up in the taskbar. What we have tried so far:- Updating all drivers provided by Lenovo;- Disabling tablet mode from Settings ? Tablet mode;- Disabling the Synaptics Pointing Device from Device Manager;- Disabling Human Interface Devices (even though nothing with ?touch? is listed here) from Device Manager;- Disabling all trackpad features from Synaptics. The way to work from the W541 is to use a mouse without ever touching the trackpad and to never lock the laptop which is ridiculous. Operating system: Windows 10 Enterprise (issue also confirmed on Windows 8)

What is the problem? any help?

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
If the machine is showing No Pen and Touch Input under system properties then it's not identifying the screen as Touch capable.
- Link to picture
Things that you can try:
1. Perform a System Recovery via the OneKey Recovery button to check if the issue is on the OS level (ensure you backup important files first as this procedure will wipe all data on the OS partition).
2. Use HWINFO or similar utility to identify the monitor used on the system and compare it to the Touchscreen panels used on the Y50-70 Touch.

Alternatively, you can post the machine type model (eg. 59-123456) of the Y50 for me to check if it has touchscreen capability or not.
Let me know how it goes.
I have a Y-50 Touch screen laptop and the touch screen has been acting up for the past week. There are times when the touch screen works properly and there are times when the screen is not functioning properly, but for like about 3 minutes. When it does not function properly, then the touch screen either does not fully work or the screen it self starts playing around with nothing touching either the trackpad or the touchscreen. When this happens, the sensors on the screen seem to be triggered in the middle of the screen as it thinks that I touched the screen but I really haven't. I have already tried out the steps to resolve the problem but nothing seems to work. What could possibly be the problem? Thanks in advanceRead other answers

Okay, so my laptop has a key next to the F12 key that all it does is mute the volume and my F6 and F7 keys have no Function key command. I was wondering if there was some way to map any of these keys so that when I press Fn in conjunction with them it disables/enables my touchscreen (because sometimes the touch screen can be more of a nuisance than a benefit). My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 15R Touch.
If anyone can help me by pointing me to a program that will allow me to remap Fn + (other key) commands that currently have nothing assigned to them that would be a great help (or if someone could tell me how to do it on the command line that would be cool too). Also, is there an easy way to disable the touch screen that can be mapped to the keys or is it too complex for that? Looking around Google some people have more trouble disabling it than others so I was curious if this was even possible to do in a relatively simple fashion.
Here is a picture of a keyboard like mine:
Edit: In addition, if you could help me find a way to map a command to disable/enable the touchpad (my old laptop had a button for this but my current one doesn't) I would greatly appreciate it, because when you're using a mouse sometimes the touchpad can get in the way.
