Outlook Delegation: Bane of my existance

Q: Outlook Delegation: Bane of my existance

Greetings!

Stats: Outlook 2002, Exchange 2000, Delegated Mailboxes

Here are the issues we're having:

Person A gave rights to Person B to manage their mailbox (delegation). The delegation is set up correctly, but its hindering some functionality (which may not even exist).

1) Can Person B (the controller of A's box) utilize A's contacts via the Address Book? At this point, we cannot. We tried to add it via the Address book 'Tools --> Options' menu, but its not even listed. We also verified the properties of the delegated contact list and its checked to generate Exchange Views.

* Basic problem: Person B cannot utilize the contact list from anything except for manually clicking on the 'Contacts' folder in the delegated mailbox. (So, using the To... doesn't work)
2) Can Person B set 'reminders' in Person A's calendar? If so, we have something set up incorrectly. Presently, reminders in the delegated mailbox do not pop up for the controller. Ideas?

* Basic Problem: Events come and go in the delegated calendar without reminding the controller (Person B).

I recommend downloading and running Outlook PST Repair. It's a PST repair tool that I've used it in the past to recover emails, contacts, tasks and notes from corrupt Outlook files that are damaged or inaccessible. Supports Outlook 2000, 2002, 2003, 2007, 2010 and 2013.

You can download it direct from this link http://goo.gl/1bjhSi. (This link will automatically start a download of Outlook PST Repair that you can save to your computer.)

A: Outlook Delegation: Bane of my existance

1. As far as I know, "no". But did you double-check that the Person A's address book is an "Outlook address book"?

2. Unsure

Check www.slipstick.com (the ultimate Outlook resource, IMHO)

A few days ago i started getting a steady stream of popups ... mostly from a place called Heavy.com, and partypoker.com. Now it has progressed to other places as well in the same manner. I've tried pretty much all the solutions i could think of.. Housecall, Panda, Stinger, Spybot search & destroy, Combofix, HJT, ATF- Cleaner. Popup blockers dont stop them either. I even now own Trendmicro PC-cillin in a effort to try and stop them. So i'm out of ideas of things to do ... so hopefully someone here will know what to do. Alright, it's story time,

So, about two or three days ago, I started realizing some connection hiccups. At first, I thought it could just be my computer, because I tend to leave the laptop on all night occasionally.

What was happening, was my internet was dying out randomly for no apparent reason. While surfing, I'd click and suddenly get an error screen after a long attempt to load. When I called my ISP, they suggested I replace the Modem, claiming they have a tendency to die out after a few years.

All that's fine and good, but it wasn't the problem. So, after hooking up the replacement modem, the problem persists, kicking me off my video games, interrupting my web surfing, and quite frankly, driving me up a wall.

So I took a break to cool down before I actually got angry, and when I came back, I found things had only worsened. Now, instead of kicking me occasionally while I'm playing games, it won't let me load them up at all. World of Warcraft errors, and Battlefield 2142 tells me it's contacting the master server for a half hour. I get the same result with every game I've tried to run, and any other programs that have to connect outwardly.

It's odd, because I can surf the internet now just fine, but nothing else.

I confess, my knowledge of networking is one of my most limited facets of computer savvy, so I don't really know where to begin, or what I need to give you guys to help you figure it out.

This white paper explains how to troubleshoot delegation issues that can arise in Kerberos authentication scenarios. The paper summarizes required infrastructure and describes Windows authentication scenarios. The central discussion is organized around four troubleshooting checklists: one each for Active Directory, client application, middle tier, and back-end. The appendices detail diagnostic tools and give examples of how to resolve problems in typical IIS to SQL delegation scenarios

So I have an infection of Vundo... at least. Tried cleaning with Symantec AV in safemode and followed their instructions to delete the registry keys at the bottom of that link. I thought I was getting somewhere but this little red X is a persistent little [email protected]#$%.

The desktop settings are locked down so I can't change that wallpaper and that little red X pops up a bubble message every few minutes. For all I know Vundo is gone already, subsequent full scans w/ Symantec AV reported nothing, and some program remains that's causing me this grief. All webpage requests are redirected to 7search or some other BS, task manager & registry edit are disabled on reboot.

So yesterday, my laptop (A lenovo G560) Crashed and was unable to boot. I didn't have an original OS CD, so the only thing I could do to recover my computer was to use the built in OneKey recovery feature. Well, thanks Lenovo, because it was a little bit broken (stopped recovering at 98%, but the computer was formatted as if it were brand new.)

Well, thanks to this broken recovery, it seems a few key system files were missing. The first one was some COMCTL32.dll or something like that and I couldn't install any programs because I kept getting that error. Well, I ran windows update and it seems to have fixed that problem.

Next we have MSVCR80.dll. Now, whenever I try to run a game, or open Adobe Reader or programs like that, I get the error saying that this DLL file is missing. I have tried everything (maybe short of borrowing someone's Windows 7 CD and doing a fresh install again.). I even downloaded the DLL and placed in the according folders, did a registry edit and etc. I don't know what to do anymore. If it's noteworthy, for some reason I can't uninstall .NET framework either (and I think this may be the root of the problem.) Anytime I try uninstalling it from control panel or downloading it from Microsoft, the installer opens for one second, shows the .NET framework icon and then just vanishes, like it wasn't even there (the process terminates and is gone as well.) What exactly would be the problem and how do I fix it?

Scientists Set Internet2 Speed Record
By Susan Kuchinskas

Scientists at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) set a new land-speed record for Internet2, a second-generation network serving universities and research institutes.

The team, which included folks from AMD (Quote, Chart), Cisco (Quote, Chart), Microsoft Research, Newisys, and S2io, transferred 859 gigabytes of data in less than 17 minutes. It did so at a rate of 6.63 gigabits per second (define) between the CERN facility in Geneva, Switzerland, and Caltech in Pasadena, Calif., a distance of more than 15,766 kilometers, or approximately 9,800 miles.

Scientists are racing to move gigantic amounts of data by 2007, when CERN's Large Hadron Collider (LHC) will switch on. This huge underground particle accelerator will produce some 15 petabytes (define) of data a year, which will be stored and analyzed on a global grid of computer centers.

High-energy physicists are excited about the LHC because they hope it will allow them to find the Higgs boson, a theoretical particle that they believe creates mass.

"Physicists are trying to fill in the blank spaces in our model of high energy physics," said Jim Gray a Microsoft Research engineer who helped set Wednesday's record.

But this $10 billion collider will be of little use if scientists ... Read more

I've come here after running several ineffective scans, including McAfee Security Center, AdAware, and SpyBot S&D.

My laptop has contracted a particularly annoying adware virus. Every few minutes, I'll hear an audio advertisement for detergent or "crunchy onion chicken," or the ubiquitous "congratulations, you've won." Sometimes two ads play at once, but they never have a popup/window counterpart. This is the malevolence of the virus: I have no idea where the audio is coming from. As a musician, the virus is especially awful because it has made music painful to listen to. I can barely get through a full song without hearing an advertisement. I recently purchased a new computer that has Office 2010 installed. I would like to move the contents of my .pts file from my old computer which has Outlook 2007 to my new computer which has Outlook 2010. Before, when I wanted to transfer my .pts file from one computer to another I would just copy the file to a portable hard drive and then transfer the file to the other computer. However, Outlook 2010 is completely different animal. When I go to C:, Users, App Data, etc., new computer, it is completely different from my other computer that had Vista. My question is, how can I transfer my .pts file and/or my address book, calendar, contacts, etc. for my older Windows Vista computer that had Outlook 2007, to my new computer that has Windows 7 and Outlook 2010 installed? Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.

A:Solved: Moving Outlook Messages and Address Book From Outlook 2007 to Outlook 2010

Hello referee07;

Copy your .pst file from your old computer to the new one or your portable hard drive.

To launch the Outlook 2010 Export/Import wizard, first go to File menu, navigate to Open, and click Import.

In the Import And Export wizard, select Import from another program or file option and hit Next

Under File Type, select Outlook Data File(.pst) and hit Next

Now choose the file to import, select the options, and hit Next

Once done, finally select the folder to import from(if you want to import complete data don’t change any settings) and make sure Include subfolders is checked. You can either import the file to the current folder or choose the folder.

Hope this helps!

Alright, here are the facts:

1. When I start up my machine, the windows login screen tells me that I have (1) message in my Outlook 2007 - I have it set up through google.com, so my Outlook address is a gmail.com address. Yet when I open my Outlook, I don't see anything. Some messages come through, every time I restart, the screen tells me I have a message in there.

2. I had the Outlook 2007 set where when I open it up it asks for a password, and when I send something out, it asks for a password. All of a sudden, it doesn't do this anymore, no matter how many times I restart the computer, or close and open Outlook. I even attempted to use the repair feature in Outlook, but it worked to no avail. What is going on? My business depends on me being to secure my email accounts, and receive important emails - I can't afford to miss a really important one.

3. I also have this software called ComboFix that I've been hearing about which is supposed to be really good, but I didn't run it because I don't have anyone to guide me through any of the results, plus I heard it could possibly mess up my machine. I would like to run it if it will cure my machine and make my life easier.

**My machine is Windows XP.... Please can someone help me? It is greatly appreciated.

We are running Exchange 2003 SP2 and our clients have Office 2010. Our Outlook profiles are created automatically by using Group Policy to set a registry key which points to a PRF file with all the Outlook settings. Lately, many of our users are reporting that their emails are getting stuck in the Outbox. If you look at their Outlook profile, they have two Exchange accounts listed. You cannot delete either of them; it gives a message that this is the default email account.

The immediate solution is to recreate the user's Outlook profile. This allows the stuck email to send. The real issue is that this keeps occurring. Recreating the Outlook profile sometimes fixes the problem for a long time, months maybe. But other times the problem occurs the next day. This is happening with users who have established Outlook profiles as well as new users logging into their PCs for the first time. I've attached the code from our PRF. Any help is appreciated, as we have around 400 active users and we're constantly chasing after this issue.

A:Outlook 2010 Email Stuck in Outbox; Corrupt Outlook Profile

Couple steps you may apply...

1. Repair the offline file with a Microsoft utility called SCANOST.exe. I’ve seen this file reside in a number of different locations, mainly within Program Files. It might be best to search for it with Windows or Google Desktop. SCANPST.exe will also work, though you’ll have to go digging for your outlook.ost, which should be near c:\Documents and Settings\ %profile%\ Local Settings\ Application Data\ Microsoft\ Outlook\ outlook.ost. If your file is significant in size, you’ll save a lot of time with the repair operation by not creating a backup. Because if the repair finishes successfully and Outlook still bombs, you’ll need to.
2. Shutdown Outlook completely, including any runaway outlook.exe processes in the task manager. Open Mail in the Control Panel and before you delete your profile completely, write down the server settings! There’s no need to worry about backing up your mail as it’s stored on the Exchange server. (Essentially, you’re deleting that outlook.ost when you drop your mail profile.) Now, start Outlook and it will create a new profile, where you’ll configure the server with the information you wrote down previously.

Hi

I am using Vista Home premium 32 bit and i am using windows mail for all my emails. I also have office 2007 with Microsoft Outlook.

Problem is that i want to use microsoft Outlook but i can't transfer/export my email accounts from Vista Windows mail to Microsoft Outlook or even outlook express for XP. I have forgotten 3 critical passwords so I cannot recreate the email accounts in Outlook....

How can I export my email accounts to microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express from Vista Windows mail??? please help.

Thanks

kapilkaaiser

A:Exporting Email accounts from Vista to Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express

Hello again kapilkaaiser,
I think you need to import the required info into Outlook 2007 -

In Outlook 2007, click File > Import and Export > Make the appropriate choices
> & hopefully the Import / Export Wizard will oblige.

Post back with your results.

I would like to know if I could send an outlook email via command line while also attaching a file via command line. I am trying to have a Windows 2000 or 2003 server inititiate an email when it sees a certain text file arrive on the server. The email should run automatically with the file attached. I've found this attached link on how to do the command line: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/192341/en-us But no mention of attaching a file. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

I just put in a new hard drive and installed the latest version of Office 2007. I kept the data and archive files from Outlook 2003 so I could import them into Outlook 2007 and get back to business. However, that did not happen. It was able to read and bring up most of the data, but I am missing some folders which are critical.

The critical folders are folders that were created manually. They were used to store email messages that came in that were important. They were simply dragged from the Inbox and put into that folder. There were also folders within that folder. I'm not sure if these folders and subfolders were in the Inbox or not. They may not have been.

The way I imported it was by going to TOOLS>ACCOUNT SETTINGS>DATA FILES tab>and pointed to the old PST file.

I also pointed to the archive.pst file as well, but later went to FILE>ARCHIVE and pointed to the old archive.pst file in there. Bot ways did not reveal the folders that are needed.

Is Outlook 2007 not able to read all data from Outlook 2003 pst files, or is there a fix for this?

Please advise.

A:Move from Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2007 not successful; not reading certain folders

I purchased a new Notebook with Office 2007 installed and copied over my Outlook 2000 pst file. I also had manually created folders for filing important emails. Mine were sub folders within the Inbox folder. Everything copied over, but I could not see the manual folders at first until I double clicked the Inbox folder in the side panel and then they spilled out. I would look for them in that panel and double click anything there starting with Inbox, Sent etc. Also try doing a search for any subject or address of an email you may have saved.

When copying over the pst file I think everything is copied. Appears you did not just copy contacts for example, but the complete pst file. I think the folders are there as Sub Folders, just hidden within one of the main folders such as Inbox.

I have some users on Outlook 2003.
Here is the situation: When he opens outlook it automatically opens with the Outlook Today window. That is fine. But after he moves around and goes to the Inbox and then clicks on the Tasks. When he clicks on mail again he wants to go back to the Outlook today window.
He says he has done this on his home Outlook but can't remember how he did it.
Is there a way to do this.
I have played around but could not find a setting.
Any help would be great.

In Win7x64, Google email in the form of HTML source becomes mangled in Office Outlook (which I've substituted for incompatible Outlook Express).

To replace Outlook Express, I first tried Thunderbird, and then Eudora. Only Office Outlook, which is part of MS Office, had all the functions and options of Outlook Express that I like, plus formatting and organization features.

I could use Web Mail with Gmail or ATT-Yahoo, to which I have access, but I prefer getting my mail to my PC and keeping it there.

You failed to mention Windows Live Mail which is Microsoft's free replacement for Outlook Express for Windows 7: Windows Live Essentials 2011 - Download free Microsoft programs The web installer for Live Essentials will let you download just "Mail" if that's all you need for now. You can always go back to the install file to download other parts of the suite when you want.

From earlier posts a solution was offered to this problem (see below). After executing these instructions I received an error (also below). The "debug" option highlighted the code line: objRecipients.Add (Range("C" & i).Value).

Your suggestions for a fix would be greatly appreciated.

gang I found an old post here that describes my situation, something I caused but don't know how to undo.
The system in question has Windows XP Professional, and MS Office 2000 Professional, the main reason for which is OUTLOOK. When Outlook cranks up it triggers an error message which is in my subject line:
"Outlook requires Microsoft Outlook Express 4.01 or greater....". The system of course also has OE6 on it which we don't use, but it does work etc.

The issue is me: I use autoruns to shut off everything non-mandatory, and, as another thread-poster identified, there is something in the list of goods that I have disabled that OE is dependent on, if I understand the old thread properly. The problem is that the poster [OP] in that thread said he found the key, but he didn't NAME THE ENTRIES
Thus, I dunno which ones he reversed that made the issue go away.

if anyone knows, pls let me know, so I can fix my goof.

thx
Z

Hello all:

First time poster.

In the folder/tree view on the left in Outlook 2007 (Windows XP Pro) the Contacts folder is not showing up.

In Outlook 2003, it was right there underneath Calendar, which, by the way, is also missing from the Folder/Tree view.

I can access my Contacts via the big tab at the bottom but I want the tree/folder view as it broke up the hierarachy very nicely.

Any ideas?

Thanx in advance,

Use "Folder List" view to see all of your folders in a single list. Either click the little folder icon in the Navigation Pane on the left-hand side or click Go | Folder List in the Menu Bar.
