Yoga x380 pen lagging while using Word

Q: Yoga x380 pen lagging while using Word

When I write something in Word, the pen starts lagging. The option 'pen' turns off and instead of writing it starts scrolling. I can't write longer than 3 seconds. I don't have this problem with other apps, only with Word.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi Lenovo Community, I'm facing pretty strange CPU Performance problems on the X380 Yoga with i7-8550U CPU. The CPU performance becomes very bad after some operating time. I understand the X380 has a limited cooling capacity, but this behaviour is pretty strange. Environment: X380 Yoga, i7-8550U, 16GB Memory, 512GB SSD, Windows 10 1703 Enterprise, SCCM Driver Package used for image building and installation. Bios Version 1.14 installed (most recent one). Drivers are all checked, and are the most recent version. Speed Step Settings in Bios are on Max Performance, on OS also on Max performance. Running Standard Office applications, like Outlook, Skype, Firefox and some management tools. After system boot everything is performing fine for about 1 hour. (I wasn't able to  record the exact time so far). After this, the system starts to get really slow, and shows a bad response time. As soon as some CPU load is applied, the CPU clock in Task Manager goes down, also the CPU load is not able to reach 100%. The CPU Temperature does not go over about 60° at this point. Directly after the system start it goes up to about 85°C. I monitored the CPU with HWMonitor, and put some stress to the Laptop using Prime 95. After some minutes Torture Test I see following values in HWMonitor (see attachment Prime 1.jpg) After about 1 hour run time, I see following: (see attachment Prime 2.jpg) So, the CPU Clock is far down, all temperatures are not really high, no... Hello my fellow ThinkPad friends, I know that there are already a couple of threads out there concerning high battery drain when the device is completely shut down, but none for the X380 Yoga yet. In some cases (E-Series ThinkPads), a BIOS-Update was released to solve the problem. I would kindly like to ask the Lenovo team to try and figure out whether the same can be accomplished for the X380 Yoga.  When my device is shut down, it usually drains 10-15% a day, which cannot be a regular thing. Of course, I have tried all the usual stuff: - Windows Quick Start is off - USB-power when off is off- Wake-On-LAN or USB-C is off- BIOS updated to R0SET29W 1.13 If you have any other ideas, feel free to post them. Otherwise, I would really appreciate for a BIOS update that might adress the issue. It is kind of annoying charging your device for the weekend knowing that by the next day, you will already have lost 1 to 2 hours of runtime. Best wishes,Manuel

Hello,I am a support engineer for our organization. I've recently tested 15-20 of our X380's and found that the Integrated camera will not activate, and has an error in the driver, as shown in the attached screenshot. Is there a known fix for this? Installing the driver listed on your site, and any listed in the software matrix for the specified device type (20LJ) yields no different results. And we also have 1500 of these coming this week to be prepped for deployment...Please let me know what the fix is

I've had my X380 for only a few weeks now and I noticed it's already getting scratched from being in stand mode. I had an S1 Thinkpad Yoga for years and it never developed scratches from being in stand mode. I noticed that the rubber feet on the palmrest are not the high point but the area below the trackpad is and that's why it's getting scratched.I was thinking if I could get some more of the little rubber feet on the bottom of the palmrest I could maybe double them up to make them taller, but I can't find them anywhere. Does anyone know if these can be bought on their own? Or maybe another suggestion to prevent the scratching? I've temporarily stuck some black rubber strips on the feet to make them taller, but it doesn't look that great. Thanks

I received my X380 Yoga with the i7-8550u a couple week back and the first thing I noticed was the fan running almost constantly. I checked task manager and noticed that even though the CPU usage is remaining low, the clock speed is running at around 3.80 GHz.  My power profile is set to balanced with the minimum processor state set to 5%. If I change the maximum processor state to 99% then the clock speeds drop to below the base speed of 1.99 GHz and the fan quites down.  The problem is the CPU will never go above 1.99 GHz when set like this, so performance is noticeably reduced. I've played around in the bios and the only thing that seems to drop the idle clock speed is to turn off Intel SpeedStep which again stops the CPU from going above 1.99 GHz. From my experience with my past computers the CPU should clock down when the load is low. Is this normal behaviour for this computer and processor? I am I missing a setting, or maybe a program or process is demanding full clock speed from the processor? Any help or comments would be appreciated. Thanks

My X1 Yoga 2nd Gen is 9 days old.  I loaded a minimum of programs (Microsoft Office, Symantec Anti-virus ... and that's about it).  I've noticed that since the first day I got it, it frequently runs into spells of lagging a LOT.  It's especially noticeable when navigating on the trackpad - the pointer lags behind by several seconds - and I can't do anything until it "catches up".  I've turned off all the extra Windows 10 "stuff" (i.e. 'optimize performance') and Task Manager says that I never use more than 15% CPU and 25% RAM - and this is a fully loaded X1 Yoga 2nd Gen.  I've installed all updates, adjusted the trackpad settings, turned off Cortana - and it's still acting like a computer that's 4 years old ... what gives?

Hi at all,I got a brandnew Lenovo 910 Yoga with newest i7 core and 16GB for christmas. Now I am a bit in doubt about this laptop because it keeps freezing and lagging a lot when I browse a little in Chrome. When I open 4-5 tabs and stream BBC radio at the same time or load a page with lots of gifs like Tumblr- it hangs up. Mouse freezes, laptop does not respond to commands anymore, takes up to 30 seconds to go back to normal.I had task manager open to check the pressure on the system but there's nothing going on... CPU running between 5 and 20%, RAM being up to 45% ... so I really dont see a problem here that would cause such a strong laptop to crash....? I updated BIOS and used companion to check for and install all possible updates there are, but it didnt really help much.  My old Carbon X1 who had only 8GB RAM and an old i7 4th generation core was totally able to deal with my browsing-behaviour, despite being less powerful, so I dont understand what's going on. Anybody having an idea on where to look for the problem? I am running out of diagnose-ideas.  Thanks and happy new year,Lisa

As far as I see it, FB Messenger only took up 250MB of RAM and almost no CPU usage.. Shouldnt crash that fast, should it?

When opening Firefox, Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, the browers really slow to open, and switching browsing webpage takes 5 to minutes and many times will stall.I have run the Malwarebytes, and has trying free Kaspersky to scan for virus bt did not find any viruses or malwares.  I sent to service centre to check but they claimed they found no abnormality on hardware, successfully detected by system. The laptop has been many times reinstalled via one key recovery, and running fresh but still lagged and slow. Also there are some really strange choices like the IR / Hello camera, it is available on only ONE model of X380 and then is only available on L380 without world facing camera. Hello lenovo community, this is my first post so if this is not in the right area or anything feel free to remind me. I wanted to share a bug/feature i just discovered with the lenovo yoga x380. The laptop itself just started too soon to power up the fans which brought me to conclusion that the laptop is overheating very fast.. Wrong! I found out that when plugged in, the CPU Clockspeeds drop to 200-300 MHz rightaway (in Balanced Windows Power Settings). As soon as you open an application however, the clockspeeds instantly go into the 3 GHz for about 1-2 seconds, before dropping to 200 MHz again. --> This causes the temps to go up very fast for a short period of time which causes the fan to go ON for about 10-20 seconds before turning off again. However if you watch the clockspeeds at battery powered they are at 800 MHz lowest! They never drop to 200-300 Mhz (maybe for 0.1 seconds then it goes up again).  By changing the lowest possible CPU Clock from 5% to 10% and back to 5% the problem dissapeared for me and now my fan wont spin up every 30 seconds and the laptop is completely quiet. I did all this on the balanced power profile, if i go to the performance power profile in windows im at 200 MHz in Idle again... So  is this intentional? Or is this a bug?   Clockspeeds on Battery (Idle)Clockspeeds on Power (Idle)

Hello guys! Today my new Thinkpad Yoga x380 arrived. I used it for a while and noticed that the battery wont charge with the standard poweradapter. At first I thought it was because of the threshold-charging-settings (where it is supposed to not charge the battery until it drops below a certain percent-value of charge). But ive already tried charging it via usb-c, and doing so works fine. Edit: In addition, the charging-adapter isnt even recognized by the system. It simply does nothing. Except for the USB-C charging. (Charger works fine, i measured it with a voltmeter) Am i supposed to send it in, and make use of my warranty? Kind regards Martin

Lenovo, I've just upgraded my Yoga 260 to a brand new Yoga X380, which is the most expensive Lenovo computer I've ever purchased since this year's crop of computers is fantastically expensive for some reason.  I really didn't mind spending great money on a ThinkPad though, since it is supposed to be an excellent computer.  I've purchased about 16 of them personally since my first ThinkPad 600E.  However... I'm beside myself with a fundamental flaw in this latest computer: The keyboard and TrackPoint buttons are MUSHY.  That is, the same terrible keyboard and mouse action that you'd get on a Dell or something.  You can feel the rubber movement underneath it.  THIS IS NOT A THINKPAD KEYBOARD.   The trackpoint buttons are mushy garbage, you can't even tell when it is "clicked" or not, they're just soft nothingness. I'm incredibly disappointed.  Can I send this back to you and have you put a REAL THINKPAD KEYBOARD in it?  One that has firm key response?  One that lives up to the ThinkPad name?  I can't stand using this computer with this terrible keyboard.

A:X380 Keyboard and Trackpoint Buttons "mushy" - can I get another one?

Follow up to my own posting, it looks like there are Chicony and Sunrex keyboard and mouse FRUs for this computer. Is one of these keyboards the "real" ThinkPad quality I'm used to and the other less so? If so, can I get these parts exchanged?

I'm not sure how to approach this becuase there are so many methods of repairing or generally speeding up your internet connection.

If you have a cable modem unplug the power for 60-120 seconds.
Or, close any recently installed programs that might be accessing the internet.

Any 920 owners tried to play MS Wordament on their new 920?  It played fine on my MS Surface Pro 4. On my 920 I'm getting garbled audio and flickering video. The flickering video only happens when I use the included pen. If I use my finger instead of the pen there is no flickering but the audio is still garbled. I have the UHD version. I uninstalled Wordament and re-installed but no change. I also have all the latest drivers from Lenovo.  All other apps I've tried have wonderful audio quality and beautiful and stable screen visuals. MS Ultimate Word Games is a free install so I would be grateful if others with UHD display and a pen can see if it's an issue with all UHD  920's or just mine. I suspect the HD screens are fine.

Hi. The newer versions of Word include a terrific equation editor. However, it suffers from a bug (known for years now, but Microsoft doesn't seem to care) that it crashes sometimes when backspace is used in or directly after a formula. I've gotten used to it and configured AutoSave to 1 min and try to only use Delete in formulas. However, now and then I still accidently use backspace and cause it to crash. On my new X1 Yoga (Windows 10, Word 2016), this causes strange behaviour: When Word crashes, the cooling fan goes full speed and I can't do anything to stop it besides restart. If I try standby or hibernate the fan stops, but goes to full power again after resume. Is there a way to fix this? Or is there at least a software way to make the fan stop that doesn't require restart?

Recently, I noticed that my Yoga2 Pro's display keeps blinking and flashing whenever I interchange from Adobe Reader to Google Chrome. The display will just turn black for 1 sec and turn back ON again. Same issue with Office software such as Powerpoint or Excel. If I just work on 1 program and don't interchange programs, the display will be fine. I am very sure it is a display driver issue and it occurs after Win 10 updates. Booting in Safemode also will prevent that problem from happening. The Display driver listed on this website is not working http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/LAPTOPS-AND-NETBOOKS/YOGA-SERIES/YOGA-2-PRO-LENOVO/downlo... and will have the same issue with Intel 4400... I know that this model is obsolete and the warranty is expired. But this is obviously SW update/Driver issue with Win 10. Could someone from Lenvo help to fix this? Thanks a lot!

I doubt i can use the laptops for a while anyway i can open this on wordperfect

A:Solved: Word Perfect- Word 2003 - word 2007

If you saved the file in the "new" Word 2007 format (with a file extension of .docx) then you will be unable to open it in the other applications.

For Word 2003 you can install a converter, but I know of no XLM converter for WordPerfect.

When using Word 2007 you need to "save as" Word 97-2003 format to retain backwards compatibility.

I am a very frustrated and angry customer at the moment as i keep running into Road Block and unacceptable answers.  This issue is enough to cause me to never buy another Lenovo laptop or any laptop at Best Buy!I bought my computer in July and in September i noticed a key had popped off-  the "< ," key next to the M key.  I have used the key board only when i was setting up-  now at my office and at customers i set it in downward dog mode ;-) and use a blue tooth key board.    So it is not from use that it broke.   I took the laptop into BEST BUY and was told that the key was missing a metal part on the back so they could not fix it onsite-  i would have to send it in and be without my laptop for a week to 10 days - unacceptable -  this was a month or more ago. I searched on the LENOVO website and could not find a way to purchase a single or the entire set of Keys!  I am self employed as a software consultant.   My life is pretty busy and i finally decided today to bite the bullet and ask for a call from Lenovo support.  Again i am told the only way to fix this is to send my laptop in for a repair.  I asked to just be able to buy a KEY - i am told that well they do not sell individual keys - they would replace the entire keyboard!  So sell me the keyboard and or send me one an i will take into best buy to have them replace it while i wait.  They cannot do that.   I live... Hello All, I have an issue with my YOGA 700 laptop when logged in multiple accounts simultaneously. Whenever an account is left logged on and the user is switched as opposed to logging off, the cpu usage ramps up very high with several RUNDLL32 processes being the culprit. I have checked the RUNDLL32 processes with Process Explorer and the command line are as follows:C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe C:\ProgramData\LenovoTransition\Server\x64\EnableAutoRotation.dll,RunCustomMonitor The directory is as follows: C:\ProgramData\LenovoTransition\Server\x64\ The only solution I have found is restarting the laptop. The problems comes back when again more than one user is logged in. Also, the rundll32 processes only run high cpu on one account at a time and there doesn't seem to be a preference for a specific account, all of them are plagued one at a time with the problem. Disabling the Yoga Mode Control service is a fix but that breaks the mode control which is essential in this laptop. I have tried installing all the available software on the Software page foor the YOGA 700. The rundll32 processes drain the battery very fast and I can't always log off other users when they have apps open!  I have posted a screenshot of process explorer showing 2 rundll32.exe processes using 25% cpu usage each. However, sometimes up to 4 rundll32.exe processes open up and they use combined 100% cpu usage, which makes the laptop run very hot and slow. In t... Read more

Disclaimer: I received the Yoga 920 as a review loaner unit from Lenovo. All opinions are my own, nobody is paying for my review, and no one is reviewing this content before it's posted.

Left: Yoga 920 in Bronze. Right: Yoga 910 in Silver

On the surface, both the Yoga 910 and Yoga 920 look nearly identical, but in my testing, I prefer one over the other. Let's dig deeper to see the differences between the two!To get this out of the way, both machines have 1TB PCIe storage, 16GB memory, and the Yoga 910 has the 7th gen i7-7550U processor, and the Yoga 920 has the 8th gen i7-8550U processor.

Hardware & Design
Both the Yoga 910 and Yoga 920 are built out of aluminum, which gives them a high quality feel to them.  Both laptops have the keyboard integrated into the chassis, which means less keyboard flex. One thing that I find better in the Yoga 920 is the fact that it's all smooth edges around.  The Yoga 910 has pretty sharp edges which means you could scratch your surface or yourself.  The sharp edges of the Yoga 910 was a common complaint, and I'm glad they rectified it.

The Yoga 920 also has a little slit on the display lid that makes it much easier to open the lap... Read more

I recently did a Windows 10 update to my Lenovo Yoge Ideapad  11 S on July 16th and now my touch screen does not work. When I check the drivers for my monitor and touch screen I noticed the driver was missing. I cannot get Lenovo or Microsoft to fix this. What else can I do to get that driver back ?

Hello Dws520Thanks for using the Lenovo forums. Was this the creators update?
If so, have a look on the following post, this should show if your device has been tested with the update yet:
https://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/solutions/ht503655

From what I can see, your unit does not seems to have made the list, which leads me to believe that this will be the cause of the issue, I would recommend that you revert back to the previous version of Windows, and observe if the fault still occurs or not.

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.==================================================================================Did someone help you today? Thank them with a Kudo! If you find a post helpful and it answers your question, please mark it as an "Accepted Solution"!

Hey. I bought my Yoga 520-14IKB (Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 256gb NVMe SSD, GeForce 940MX) 2 month ago, had no problems, till last week. Now sometimes i experience such a strange behaviour. Mainly i work on my laptop in normal mode, and sometimes, during such work, it can false trigger a tablet mode for a few (2-3) seconds (notification appers), which causes the keyboard to switch off for this time, despite the fact, that it still stands as a normal laptop, not even close to position, which triggers the yoga mode. How can i fix this? System is Windows 10 April 2018 Update, have all the latest drivers and latest version of BIOS.
