I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I recently bouht refirbished Yoga 500-15IBD, It has Intel HD 5500 and GeForce 940M. When I bought the laptop online I was under the impresion that the display is FHD. Unfortunatly the maximum resolution that I see in the Windwos 10 display settings is 1366x768. Is this a software issue or the display is not FHD? I am wondering if it is possible that seller changed the original FHD display with HD display. I can't find the full spec of the laptop. Machine Type Model: 80N600FWUK.

I bought a new Yoga 500 15IBD 2 Months ago and since a view weeks the Laptop had several power breakdowns while in battery mode. All of a sudden the Laptop turns black, all lights and the hdd turns off and I have to connect the power cord to get it started again - although the Battery certainly isn't empty according to the OS-Battery indicators AND often having the Laptop fully charged less than half an hour ago. (The Yoga runs for at least 3 hours if the bug does not appear). Now this is no driver issue, I have the problem while running Windows 10, Linux Mint and Backbox Linux. I suppose it's either a battery issue or a faulty architectual design. Since  I see a lot of similar power-off related messages accross the spectrum of lenovo devices, could someone finally publically explain the source of the problem so there is a chance to get rid of it ... especially in future products?

I bought the Yoga 500 a week ago however immediately after starting it I have been faced with problems. At first i thought its normal since it is a brand new laptop and it takes time till it adjusts but that didn`t happen. The problems are as follows: 1) The mouse coursor  and touchpad keeps on blocking regularly. I tried it also with an external mouse and I faced the same problems. 2) WIFI:  a) it keeps loosing its signal continually             b) It dissconect from the wifi almost every 30 minutes              c) Whenever i want to reconnect to the wifi it shows there are no connections available eventhough my phone and my girlfriends laptop is already connected ( and there are over 5 other wifi-s available from my neighbors)             d) Every single time I have to use the troubleshooter which says "problem with wireless adapter or acces point". And then it dissconnects again.  Thank you for your help

The Bluetooth version is combo Wifi Broadcom 4335/ Bluetooth Brcm2045It always show as working device in Device Manager. Can turn on, turn off. Can descover and pair with other out side device such as Smartphone. Browing file on other device is ok. Now let try to transfer files back and fort, very terrible, it only works for small file, let say less than 100kb. For larger file, the transfer always stuck at some point varies. Try to change the Smartphone, change the angle, position of the laptop and the phone, the transfer speed some time change but, extremly slow. This is hardware fault, should I take it to warranty? How to talk to them and how do they would reply.Do they just say it is working? Or do they erase my laptop?

I have a TP S1 Yoga (Model 20CDCTo1WW) running Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit. I utilize it mostly at work and have it hooked up to a Thinkpad Onlink Pro Dock.  I use the dock to run two external monitors, for connecting to our network (through an ethernet cable) and utilize the USB ports on the front/back to hook up a wireless keyboard/mouse, for powering my phone and for thumbdrives.  I had the problem of the Onelink having port "flapping" issues (network would disconnect and connect at random times) as discussed elsewhere in these forums.  The solution that I found was to update the bios.

I proceeded to attempt to update the bios (which I had not done since I purchased it in January 2014).  The current bios version is: GQET32WW (1.12), 1/22/2014.  I downloaded the TP Yoga bios update utility for Windows 8.1 (64-bit), Version 1.18.  I read the README and then ran the utility.  It installed the utility software to a location on the local drive ("c:" ) and then proceeded.  I went through the setup screens, selecting the "Update ThinkPad BIOS" clicking through a few more text boxes (with the warning about not powering off, keeping it plugged in, etc) until it asked to reboot. I clicked OK to reboot, which it did.  This is the next thinkg I seen on the screen:

I have a type DY20 Thinkpad Yoga 14 and foolishly accepted recommended Lenovo System updates including a bios update. Shoukd have known better. The system will not boot at all now. I started the update from within the Lenovo maintenance system with 90% battery and AC plugged in. When i checked things 30 minutes later after the screen said shutting down i discovered the power button on and function key lit but no action. I just let it sit all night. Today no change and i can power off the system with the button but can't force it to boot. The laptop had been working perfectly before this misguided bios update. The system is out of warranty. Is there any possibility of recovering the old bios or any other recovery method?

I need help recovering from my Yoga 2 Pro freezing during the reboot while updating my BIOS.   A few months ago I upgraded my original EVO 850 128GB SSD to a matching EVO 850 1TB SSD, with fresh install of Windows 10 Pro from a bootable ISO thumb drive and restored data from MS Office 365 OneDrive. Battery conservation mode stopped working after that, even with that feature set in a new copy of the Lenovo Settings tool.  I tried tackling that problem (and a few other glitchess) by downloading updates from the Lenovo Support site.  Drivers that were newer installed with no problems, skipping ones that were older than MS Windows Update versions.  But the BIOS update is now a real problem.  I confirmed I have a Yoga 2 Pro and it told me it is proceeding from version 31 to version 43.  I assume it completed the flash and was trying to reboot when it hung.  Of course I am out of warranty, and probably now can't get premium paid support considering I don't have the original 128GB SSD with recovery partitions. Can anyone help me?  It might be as simple as powering off and restarting into the BIOS to reset some defaults I had changed.  But I'd rather let it sit until I get a response here.  Thanks in advance for any help from someone that had this problem and got past it with a known solution.

I upgraded my yoga to Windows 10 soon after purchase a year and a half ago.  I have had few problems but one persists, intermitent problems charging with the AC adapter. There appear to be many Bios updates since the one that came with my yoga. I am running v1.03 and would like to update to version 96CN31WW(V1.17) but am justifiably concerned. - There is no means of backing up and restoring the current Bios so an update failure could be catastrophic.- The Bios readme file indicates it is for Windows 8 and 8.1.  I read a forum post that indicated that this shouldn't be a   problem on WIndows 10 and I agree but there is so little feedback in this forum or elsewhere about successful or   unsuccessful Bios updates on Yoga 2 13 so I am nervous about proceeding.- I don't know if this Bios update will solve my problem (no documentation from Lenovo about what any of the prior   Bios updates fixed) and there is always the possibility that this change could make my notebook more unstable. Again,   no means of going back.- For the reasons above, I always consider a Bios update a last resort. Anything else I can recover from and I am out of   warranty. I would appreciate any feedback on the stability and success of 96CN31WW(V1.17) updates and any information about what problems prior Bios updates for Yoga 2 13 addressed.

I have been suffering the, what seems common, screen flicker issue with my yoga 500 when on battery. After reading through some threads i discovered the problem was either, Drivers or Bios. After trying both drivers from lenovo themselves, and the latest from intel/nvidia the problem still remained.i then tried updating the bios. After windows shut down, the Phoenix bios updater stated a message that the bios had been sucessfully updated. The laptop then restarted and no longer posts or goes into windows. The Nova button also has no function and just causes the keyboard to illuminate and the fan to spins for 10 seconds before stopping.(Same as power button)Any advice?

This sounds a lot like a prior thread about porblems with BIOS 1.08, but that thread ended up marked as solved, while for me the issue returned on the latest BIOS update to 1.12. My CPU temp got up to 92C without the fan coming on. Conclusion: there still seems to be some kind of condition where the BIOS completely disables all cooling. I think it's the same problem as that earlier thread, and it's clearly not solved. Thankfully it IS possible to get out of this state by rolling back the BIOS version to the one that worked, instructions are posted here and three posts below that for further clarification.  Symptoms: you start noticing that the TPY gets oddly hot during normal use, or it experiences a forced shutdown due to overheating. It's also completely quiet. But: the fan itself is operational because you hear it briefly spin up during cold boot.  Given that LoneSentry mentioned that the problematic BIOS 1.08 did work on second install, there seems to be some 'random' glitch in the update process or in the BIOS. Meanwhile I'm pretty unhappy that I'm having to do continued truobleshooting on this machine.   Edit: going to the BIOS update page I saw that a newer BIOS was available (1.13), which you can install without having to disable Secure Rollback. Lo and behold. the fan is working again. The fan started blowing full speed right at the start of the EC flashing procedure. This is NO... Read more

Hi all, I've been reading tonnes of threads here trying to solve my problems (which seem to keep getting worse) to no avail. I had some spare time at home and decided to download and install my free upgrade to Windows 10. I backed up all of my important documents etc to OneDrive as I intended on performing a clean install. Said clean install went flawlessly with Windows 10 installing the first time with no issues or errors. Since I had performed a clean install, all my previous apps, including the stock Lenovo apps, had been deleted. I had anticipated this and only really desired to reinstall the app that automatically adjusts the screen orientation when folding the cover back. So in an effort to find this app and any Windows 10 related updates that may be available I went to support.lenovo.com and used the handy Lenovo Bridge app to automatically detect my hardware and suggest relevant updates. While combing through the suggested software I noticed a BIOS update that noted added support for Windows 10. Hi! Does this laptop model with InsydeH20 rev 5.0, Lenovo BIOS version EOCN61WW BIOS have any hidden options in it? I can't run some games with it to it's full potential, because the PL1 power limit it locked and set too low so it throttles if I don't cap my fps. I already undervolted it to get the powers down a little bit, but it didn't make enough difference. So I'd like to increase the power limit if it is possible somehow. I found some discussion on the case in point with other laptop models, but I'd like to know if it's possible with this specific device, before in dwell deeper into the matter. From what I gathered, I should tweak the EFI partiton variables with a Linux system for example. Am I on the right path here? You don't have to warn me about the riskyness, I know it and I have some experience in tweaking devices like this, not a guru though. E: I found out that I need some additional hardware to modify the BIOS (SPI Programmer and a SOIC clip). Do you have any other suggestions on what to do to stop the throttling?

Hey! Got myself a brand new Yoga 910 and installed the latest BIOS update to fix the fan noise issue: http://support.lenovo.com/se/sv/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-910-13ikb/downloads/d... However, immediately after installing the update, the screen started having graphical glitching issues with artifacts flickering on the screen all the time. For example, if I'm on my desktop, I have the Trashcan and Spotify icon at the top of my desktop, and I will see "ghosts" of these icons flickering over the lower half of the screen. I tried updating the graphics driver to the latest version but it didn't help: http://support.lenovo.com/se/sv/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-910-13ikb/downloads/D... The graphical artifacts that flicker on the screen seem to be based on what content I have on the screen currently. The computer was fine when I got it. It goes up to 100%, and then starts showing "update couldn't be completed, undoing changes".

Hello, so I bought a lenovo ideapad 100-15IBD about a month ago, and it has been working fine until today when my screen wouldn't turn on. I turned my laptop on and the fan starter working but the screen was still black. Last night it worked fine and it was updating and I guess after updating it didn't work. So what should I do?  I already tried to restart it but it didn't help.

Hello to the BleepingComputer community,First of all I'm sorry I haven't finished some of the steps from the Preparation Guide. It's because these steps require a reboot (e.g. Step 6: Disable your CD Emulation Software - DeFogger will ask me to reboot the machine), and I have a bad feeling about the question if it is safe to reboot in my situation: I'm not sure if I have a type of malware which is ready to infect the BIOS - if it is so, then it could infect it much easier during the reboot process.- If there is a good way to find out what is the problem (and fix the BIOS threat part if it really is present) without rebooting / shutting down this PC, or at least without booting from this hard drive (which I feel is probably infected), then please tell me what should I do.- If you know a place / forum where I can get a specialized help for this (seemingly BIOS-malware related) situation, please tell me where I could go.- If there is no way to move forward, I'll go ahead and risk the reboot, and follow the other steps (steps 6 to 10) in the Preparation Guide, no problem.I kindly ask you to please read below the details of the problem as it occured to me, and the things I have tried so far.The PC is AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core BE-2350 2.1GHz, Motherboard Biostar TA690G AM2 (with AWARD BIOS), 4GB RAM, 200GB SATA HDD, and an ASUS EAH4870 card added a few years ago. It's with WinXP SP3, AVG Free 2012, (standard) Windows Firewall, and it's behind a router.I ...
