I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Is it safe to use dolby access windows 10 feature with dell audio drivers? will it affect speakers ?

For best results, I would try to use only one or the other at a time, i.e. disable as much of the Dell Audio processing as possible when using Dolby Access and vice versa. But even if you didn't do that, it wouldn't be "unsafe" to have both. The main use case for Dolby Access seems to be in order to transmit Atmos audio, though. That can only be sent as a bitstream audio signal on HDMI to an AV receiver that is capable of decoding Atmos, and Dell Audio's processing wouldn't affect a bitstream signal at all.

Hello Everybody,
I thought I'd create an account so that I could share / brag about making the internal speaker on the OptiPlex 760 (and presumably others) work with Windows 10 and likely Windows 8, as well.
When I upgraded from Windows 7, one of the first things I noticed (once I realized it had booted up and I was staring at the desktop and not a splash screen) was that the sound wasn't working.  There was an installed driver (courtesy of Microsoft), a generic HD Audio that probably came from Analog Devices, themselves.  It noticed that there weren't headphones (front) or speakers (back) plugged in, but not the internal speaker.
After some (unsuccessful) fiddling around, and searching, I found this post from 2009 (right around the release of Windows 7).
http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3513/t/19299870

That worked well for Windows 7 using the Vista drivers, so I went in search of the Windows 7 drivers (which had since been released) in the hopes that it'd work for Windows 8 or 10 (update R228257):
http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=66TNR

Booyah!  I didn't even need to run the installer in compatibility mode!

A:DELL OptiPlex 760 Internal Speakers and Windows 10 (ADI 198x integrated audio drivers)

I, too, have an Optiplex 760 made in 2008 that I have updated to Windows 10 Pro.  Since I usually use an external speaker, I didn't notice this issue at first - until I tried the front headphone jack; there was no sound, and plugging in the headphones didn't silence the external speakers.  Eventually, I found the Sound tool in Control panel that lets you choose either the external speaker jack on the back or the front panel headphone jack and the internal speaker.  My current audio driver is the Win10 version, 10.0.10586.0.
What I'd like to clarify is whether you are having to choose which connector to use, as I am, or whether that driver will let you have a speaker plugged into the rear panel jack and still use the front panel headphone jack without having to choose in Control Panel - as it worked in Windows 7.

VidyaSOmannaspeakers are not working
Hello. Plug in headphones into the headphone jack and listen. If you do not hear audio through the headphones either then it is probably not a problem with the speakers.
If you do hear audio through the headphones when plugged in, but no audio through speakers when the headphones are unplugged, then there might be a failure of the speakers. Test the speakers for failure by running either the audio test in the ePSA test, or by failing the color bar test in  the PSA test {Your laptop will have either the ePSA test or the older PSA test.) Instructions for testing the speakers.
If the speakers pass the speaker test but produce no audio when you are in Windows (but you do get audio through the headphone jack), then the audio driver might be at fault. To test the driver, switch between the Realtek audio driver and the Windows native audio driver.

Open the Device Manager (find it in the Control Panel, or type devmgmt.msc into the search box).
Expand the "Sound, video & game controllers" and right click on "Realtek High Definition Audio".
Select to "Update Driver Software".
Click on "Browse my computer for driver software".
Click "Let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer".
Put a check in the box "Show compatible hardware" if not already checked.
In the list of devices, click "High Definition Audio" (the native driver).

Hi,I'm now using Ideapad Z510. After upgraded to Windows 8.1. I'd went to the Lenovo website searching for new driver update. But, after i install the "Realtek Audio Driver 6.0.1.7023", the "Dolby Home Theater V4" is not running(audio sound not playing through). And, the "Dolby Digital Plus" is running instead of "Dolby Home Theater V4".Then, when I try to reinstall the older version "Realtek Audio Driver 6.0.1.6954" from Lenovo website, the "Dolby Home Theater V4" is running again.Truly, the "Dolby Digital Plus"'s sound is crisper and louder than "Dolby Home Theater V4". But the sound of "Dolby Home Theater V4" has more bass and more function (like Graphic Equalizer, more Intelligent Equalizer etc.).Is this an update or what? What should I choose? The newer driver (for Windows 8.1) or older driver (for Dolby Home Theater V4)?  Thanks. (confused now) @@

A:Dolby Home Theater V4 changed to Dolby Digital Plus after Realtek Audio Driver update Windows 8.1

I only installed audio driver ver. 6.0.1.6798 which includes Dolby Home Theater V4. Since no issues are encountered I have not updated to the latest version for my unit (ver. 6.0.1.7027). Does this Dolby Digital Plus mentioned by you better than V4 in some aspect aside from the ones that you already stated?

The 2018 Anniversary Update for Windows 10 has finished installing. There were no obvious bugs or errors, until I checked the audio. My Dolby Audio won't open or better yet can't function properly. See attached picture. After getting used to the rich and optimised audio provided by the pre-installed Dolby Audio in my laptop, I can't seem to get the drivers back or look for the drivers themselves. Dolby recommends me to look towards my laptop manufacturer which is here but I still can't find the drivers. My worst option is to start a "clean" installation that causes me to re-install all my apps. I have a slow internet connection and it pains me to know that I won't be able to hear that crisp sound that Dolby Audio used to deliver in my laptop. . I hope someone can help with this. Edition: Windows 10 Home Single LanguageVersion: 1803Installed on: 11/05/2018OS Build: 17134.448Serial Number: PF0NSU9XThe error once I open Dolby Audio from the tray.

I have been upgrading some Lenovo laptops recently to Windows 10. Mainly Thinkpad E531 and E545. Each time I upgrade one, it reboots saying: Unable to start the Dolby Audio driver. Please restart the computer or reinstall the driver if the problem persists." Restarting the laptop does NOT solve the problem. Reinstalling the driver does NOT solve the problem. Unstalling the Conexant 20671 and drivers via Device Manager does NOT solve the problem. Uninstalling the Dolby drivers does not work, either through Settings>System>Apps and Features or through Control Panel. Nor does reinstalling the driver after that. (Although, to be honest I am not sure i am installing the correct driver as I cannot find one for Windows 10 on the Lenovo site.) I tried searching for Dolby is the C: drive search bar for a Dolby.msi (as per this posting https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-11e-Windows-E-and-Edge/Dolby-advanced-problem-with-E531/td-p/1... ) but couldn't find one in the search results. Whilst it is easy to click OK on the error box, it is annoying when it is day after day after day after day etc etc etc. Can someone please help? This is ridiculous.

I am constantly having this problem with my laptop. As I plug in and unplug my headphones throughout the day, I've noticed that after a couple times the bass gets really quiet and almost completely drops out. Since I have some pretty decent audiophile headphones with really great bass, it is super annoying and noticeable.
One workaround I have discovered is to go to the audio settings (either in Windows or the Dell Audio app), and switch the Default Format (the thing with 24-bit, 48000Hz in it)  to something else, play some audio, then switch it back.
A little word on my setup: I have the latest drivers from the Dell download page installed. I am running Windows 10 64-bit with all the updates. I have Waves Maxx audio "enhancements" disabled. My Default Format is usually set to 24-bit 48000Hz, but the problem eventually happens no matter what I set it to. The "headphone size" option is set to "Medium", but as far as I can tell this option does nothing if I do not have Waves Maxx enabled. Switching it also does not fix the problem.
If I play audio using WASAPI (this basically means that the music player takes over the sound card completely, and bypasses whatever audio processing Windows and the driver has) the problem does not happen.
How do I fix this problem? It's incredibly annoying, and most likely has something to do with the audio driver, since this does not happen in Linux, and it did not happen when I was runn... Read more

Hi all,

I'd be grateful for any advice to my problem....

Last month I bought a new PC, a Dell XPS 8500 with an Intel Core i7-3770 processor. The PC has onboard audio (Realtek High Definition Audio).

I didn't buy new speakers as I have a perfectly usable set of Creative 6.1 speakers.

My problem is that although my computer plays Windows event sounds through all the speakers, applications such as iTunes only emit sound through the front pair.

I have googled the problem and as a result have configured the Realtek to use 7.1 audio but without the side pair.

Also, I have disabled the Realtek driver and have reloaded by asking Windows to select the best available.

But still the problem persists.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

dagi

A:No audio except front speakers (Dell, Realtek Audio)

First, for proper operation you must use the Dell supplied sound driver. Non-Dell will either not work or install or will not work properly, and that includes the basic function Windows installed HD Audio Codec.

6.1 is an oddball speaker configuration for current technology systems, its either 2.1, 5.1 or 7.1.

I used to do a lot of support on the Dell users forum (community) and recall that certain applications will only play audio through "stereo" speakers only. My experience on the Dell forum (I had over 37,000 posts and am still registered) also is the reason I note the Dell supplied sound driver.

You could also post on the Dell community Desktop hardware section and one of the user experts there may have more suggestions.

If I open an email that's meant to infect my pc just by viewing it can it affect any OS or does it depend on the browser?

A:Can a virus that affect Windows affect a linux partition on the same PC

(Admins delete my post if I'm not allowed to respond to this topic)

I don't think it can, unless it's a cross-platform malware like the Boonana trojan. Windows malware downloaded on Ubuntu can affect Windows, though (not sure it it has to be moved to the Windows partition manually or not).

I think since Wine is virtualization, it shouldn't affect Ubuntu, and because Ubuntu is a linux/unix distro, it shouldn't be able to run anyway (but don't take my word on that).

Not sure about the last question.

hi zwrtronpxict,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Try Reinstalling Audio / Dolby Components in this order

Open Device manager and Uninstall the Audio Driver. (make sure to place a check on delete driver software prompt to rid of the driver completely from your system).

Then Open Control Panel / Uninstall a program and Uninstall all Dolby Component
then delete the Driver Backup under C: / Driver  / conexant folder.

Now Download the WIndows  Audio Driver and Install it
for your System, Here it is  Conexant Audio Driver
After Extraction and Installtion completes.
this will Creata a new back up under C: Driver folder.
Open that and find the DolbyGUI folder Open that and you'll find the Dolby Install that matches your Audio Driver

Hope this helps
Cheers!

dejibytealso my left speaker had stopped working before re installation, and the audio jack has a bit broken off exposing the metal stick(i dont know maybe this is a problem)
That information wasn't in your first thread. That might be why there is no audio through the headphone jack.

In light of this additional information, it is possible that you have 2 issues: broken headphone jack, and an interruption in the audio signal to the speakers. I understand that you reseated the speakers, but the ePSA test proves that the signal is still not getting through, or they have failed.
If the laptop is no longer under warranty, all I can suggest is that reseat the speaker cable again.
As for the headphones, I don't think that the Inspiron 3542 has a jack circuit board, so your best option may be to get a usb audio jack. It only costs a few dollars on Amazon. Don't know about the availability in your area.

Hi ILIASKG,
We would need more info about the issue.
When does the static occur? What application are you using when the static occurs?  Is this issue while playing audio or video or both on the machine? Does this happen on both online and offline files - files from your HDD? Do the headphones work fine?
Update the BIOS - http://dell.to/1SVquRD
Turn off the speaker enhancement and check -http://bit.ly/23gupYw
Run the audio test and headphone test in pccheckup - http://dell.to/21y9GPi
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us.

G'day From Australia I'm basically trying to help people with Dolby Home Theater 4 if they have Realtek Audio Software installed.

Okay so if you're getting an error message saying the driver is wrong when you install Dolby - you'll have to go to Control Panel then Programs then uninstall programs and uninstall Dolby.

Once it's uninstalled use you're file browser (the yellow folder near the start Button) and click on C drive. Click on Programs and Find the "Realtek" folder. Click on "Realtek" then click on "Audio" click on the file "PCEE4" then click on "Dolby Home Theater" this will install the right version for Windows 7 - simply follow the promps, and you good to go - remembering you need to click on the short cut of Dolby on your desktop and click the on button to activate Dolby.

I have uninstalled the audio device and reinstalled and it still does not work.  The error messages says: "The current Dolby Digital Plus audio driver verision is 7.6.4.9 and the software application expects driver version 7.3.2.2.  Please install a valid driver and software application combination.  Any idea how this can be fixed?  Thanks

I've just updated my Z830 to Windows 10, and keep getting the following error message:

The current Dolby audio driver version 7.2.8000.17 and the software application expects driver version 7.2.7000.7.Please install a valid driver and software application combination.

The driver is looking for an earlier version, not the latest version, of the driver.

I've tried finding an answer to this problem but the only thing I've come across is an earlier thread on this forum about a Z830-10U, with a suggestion to go to http://win10upgrade.toshiba.com/swup...=en&country=GB. Our model isn't listed, so the suggestion was to try the Z930. I tried this but it didn't work.

Could someone please advise on how I can fix this problem?
with thanks, Julieanne

I have been trying to look around for a solution however none of them work. On my playback section it says "no audio devices are installed" and i can't change the volume or even get access to the little bar you use to change it. If it helps my computer was recently fixed up and i was thinking that they may have forgotten to reconnect the speaker but that wouldn't explain why headphones don't play any audio either.
Any help is appreciated

A:My dell inspiron 7559 laptop will not play any audio through headphones or speakers

Check for  any settings in he Bios.  You might be able to turn audio and microphone on or off there.
If the audio is not listed in Device Manager, in some form, the boot may not be picking it up.  The Realtek audio or at least High Definition audio device should show up.  If you have a device which shows as unknown, that might be it but missing a driver.

Hello,my dell xps 13 has an issue where every few days the speakers stop playing clear sound and begin to crackle.  If I reinstall the audio driver it fixes the issue...for another few days.  Suggestions?

A:Dell xps 13 speakers crackle every few days, audio driver install fixes

Are you checking the version of the drivers you are installing.  It almost sounds like you install earlier drivers and the Dell utility will reinstall the latest?
do you have the version numbers of the Realtek drivers?
Are you using any enhancements or other changes to the Default settings?

Hi, I purchased my computer (specs below) about two years ago. After an update approximately a week ago I had two problems with my audio:

1) My Dolby Home Theater cannot automatically open. If I try to open Dolby Home Theater or troubleshoot it it will automatically shut down. As soon as I log into my computer I get an error that reads more or less that "Dolby Audio cannot open; please restart or reinstall the driver if the problem persists." Alternatively, if I reinstall my Realtek Driver from what's on the Acer website for my computer, I receive a prompt that PCEE4 needs to be installed, which completely halts the installation process.

2) I think the Dolby issue is probably causing trouble with my media players. Windows Media Player, will give me an error message (error C00D11B1, to be exact) if I try to play music or video. When I troubleshoot, it just says that the media library is corrupted. It will only detect, not apply a fix. I've attempted to un and reinstall via Windows Features to no success. I'm also having issues with Media Center and Quicktime (the former will not play at all, the latter it will play but without audio). Music will play fine on all other applications, including Firefox, Chrome, Windows Movie Maker, and Skype.

I've

1) attempted system restore- earliest I can go back is two days after the update
2) attempted re installation of Realtek- could not finish; states PCEE4 must be installed
3) turned Media Player and Media Center off and on ... Read more

So the Yoga 920 has Dolby Atmos integrated, but I've read everywhere that is meant to be used with headphones and my laptop uses the Dolby Atmos with its own JBL speakers, it makes a big difference but I don't know if this is normal and I've noticed a tiny clicking noise when adjusting the volume on youtube and also in some other videos when a certain frequency is reproduced.I don't know if its normal for the Yoga 920 to use Dolby Atmos for the speakers or something went wrong and it damaged the computer, the clicking noise comes from the earphones too so the JBL speakers can't be the problem. In fact, I just noticed that there no difference in sound when Dolby Atmos is activated or deactivated when using the headphones, maybe the software got "confused" and think the speakers use Dolby and not the headphones. I need a Yoga 920 owner to please listen to the intro of this youtube video and tell me if there's a clicking noise in those first 3 seconds to see if its normal or my audio is distorted.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVbH8tsxxyM&t=54s Thanks.

I purchased my laptop about a month ago and just over a week ago my internal speakers stopped working and instead just make a very quiet popping/cracking sound when audio is being played. My headphone port still works perfectly tho. Every so often the speakers will start working again randomly but always eventually stop working again. I'm guessing it is a hardware issue and plan on sending it back under warranty but just wanted to make sure as happened very randomly.Cheers
