HP Envy 14 cannot connect to a particular Wifi

Q: HP Envy 14 cannot connect to a particular Wifi

Hi all!I have a HP ENVY 14t-u000 CTO Notebook, and OfficeConnect ASDL wireless 11g (3CRWDR100y-72) Router by 3com.The notebook was connected to the wifi router and working properly, but then I left the PC in sleep mode and came back couple hours later, and I tried to reconnect it back again to the router, and it just wont connect. I tried rebooting both the router and the laptop several times with no results. Tried all the possible solutions listed in here, still fruitless. The funny things are :1. The notebook connected to the network properly with LAN ethernet cable connected to the router,2. Other devices (phone, tablets) connect to the wifi router properly and able to access internet, 3. The notebook connected to other wifi network (other than the router) properly and easily. No problems detected whatsoever (I tried using phone wifi hotspot thethering)Seems that the problem exist specifically if my laptop connect to this particular wifi router.Any helps would be appreciated, thanks a lot

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My HP Envy m6 laptop cannot connect to our wifi connection and only connects using the cable connection, ethernet. It was still fine when I downloaded windows 8.1 but all of a sudden displays limited/no connectivity. I tried everything I can including resetting tcp ip settings thru command prompt, finding other drivers till someone suggested me to put my laptop back to windows 8. Still didn't fix the problem. Now, my laptop does not access wifi nor detect any wireless connection whether our home wifi, or others. Please do help me. I really need to fix this. I'm a student and I badly need wifi connection since its the only available connection in our school. I am not knowledgable about this issue and it would be really great if someone could help. Thank you so much!

I have been in talks with Sony to establish the password for the Direct-5T-Bravia.  when I go to settings and see the availability to connect to the Direct-5T-Bravia and enter it I am told I cannot connect to it.  The one reason I see, only because of what I see when I connect my iPhone5 to the same connection is this.  When my phone is connected, I am on 4G.  4G is not available on an HP notebook.

A:Wifi connect HP ENVY dv6 to Sony KDL 70W803B

Hi, No, 4G is not available on HP Envy dv6. I don't know what is your HP Envy dv6, does it havd Bluetooh (BT) ? You can try BT if your TV also has BT. I connect my TV to my devices (phones, tablets, NAS, computers ...)  at home using my home network, and it is very easy that way. Usig 4G may cost data depending on your contract, Regards.

Hello, I have an HP Envy which came with Windows 10, and has an Intel 7265 WiFi adapter. I started the setup and was able to see the WiFi connections and connect to two - home and office. Once all the updates completed, I typically used it between the two WiFi locations - both work great. However on a trip, I tried connecting to another WiFi and have since tried about 6 different options and all fail - the "Connecting" message shows and then disappears and no connection has been made. The different WiFi devices include a 2Wire, Dlink Access Points, Cisco Enterprise Access Points, a three different phone based hotspots. All do the same. Debugging steps:1) Update driver. HP's site has a March 2016 driver.2) Installed the Intel AC-7265 driver from 9/20/2016.3) Change settings to switch preferred band to 2.4 GHz and also to 5 GHz and neither make a difference - the Enterprise DLink and Cisco devices work at both frequencies.4) Changed the 801.11 channel widths to 20 MHz only.5) Changed "wireless mode" in the driver to 802.11 a, then g, then a/g and back to the default a/b/g. Did all of the above with the firewall on Bitdefender turned off. None of these worked, so figured I would post here, to see if maybe someone else has had something similar and did get a resolution. Any assistance is appreciated.

About a week ago, our cable internet connection went out. Before I had a chance to reboot the modem & router, my 11 year old decided to completely reset the router to factory settings! Ugh! This caused several issues: my home network is now gone, only a unsecured factory network is available. When I try to plug my laptop into the router via ethernet cord (in order to login to router and setup secure network) my computer will not recognize the router and won't connect to internet. I tried troubleshooting with my cable provider and they say it's in my computer (IP address will not reset) and he recommended I replace my network card. However, today when I brought my laptop to work, it will instantly recognize the wifi at work. So is it really my network card that is causing issues? Please help, I'm desperate and not tech too tech savvy!

Hi there,

I have a new problem that has just cropped up today. I am no longer able to connect to public wifi or my phone's wireless hotspot. My laptop either will not connect or connect with limited access. It has connected without issue in the past and as soon as I returned home it connected to my wifi here.

What I did notice is I am connected to an unidentified network with no internet access in addition to my home wireless network:
Acer Aspire S7 392
Windows 8.1 64 bit
Intel Dual Band Wireless 7260 (driver updated)
Disabled my firewall and antivirus

I just connected to my phone's hotspot again and here is what I am coming up with:
Attachment 57082

And when I run ipconfig/renew
Attachment 57083

Any ideas what could be causing this?

I have a HP Notebook 15. I restarted my laptop this morning and when it came back on, all options for connecting to the internet via WiFi were gone. I am able to connect to the internet via ethernet cable, and everything works this way. There are no options whatsoever to connect to WiFi or reset the connection or anything, however the WiFi itself is working because other devices in the house are connected to it. I followed a HP technical support online page, which provided step-by-step instructions of various ways to reconnect to WiFi but nothing worked. I tried restarting the computer, updating the driver software, making sure it wasn't in airplane mode, and troubleshooting. Nothing worked. What should I try next?

Okay, so my desktop is connected to the network by wifi to the wireless N (plus B and G) router. It connects to the internet fine and dandy. My iPhone can connect to the router, but drops the wifi signal most of the time. It doesn't seem to want to hold the connection because of either distance or interference from the wall or whatever.

What I want is to connect the iPhone's wifi to the computer for a stronger connection. But I don't want to move the router because it's centrally located and my office is kinda further away from it.

1 computer
1 802.11n wireless USB adapter connected to computer
1 802.11g wireless PCI adapter connected to computer
1 802.11n router connected to internet
1 iPhone with 802.11b/g connectivity
Is it possible to do this? I know what people have done it with one wired connection and a wireless connection from the computer. But can it be done with TWO wireless adapters connected to the computer?

Thanks in advance for any replies....

PS...I know it'd be easier to just use the computer to browse the internet since I'd be in the office anyway...but I work as a 3D modeler and alot of times I'm testing renders for scenes and such and can't stop the render without losing the progress. If I browse while it's rendering, it's possible I can crash the computer because of the heavy resources the 3D engine is already using.

A:Possible to connect iPhone's wifi to computer that is connected by wifi to the net?

Doesn't hurt (except maybe your time) to try. Get an ad-hoc wireless network working between computer and iPhone (using dynamic addressing). Then in Network Connections bridge the two wireless connections.

If it doesn't work, show the following for the computer before you bridge and when you have the bridge.

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista type CMD in the Search box after Start)

Type the following command:

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

I am ready to give up on HP AND Windows 7.  My laptop worked fine until a week ago - did all - reset router, plugged HP 15 laptop into router....wireless has stopped working - low signal sometimes if I spend hours removing and reinstalling, etc.
Reinstalled network adapter - have Kaspersky 2017 - tried turning it off.  Using Windows Firewall - tried turning off.
Keeps saying network adapter has invalid IP config.  Laptop of my husband next to mine is working fine!  Same settings.
Have done EVERYTHING.....running HP Network Diagnostics....same errors - problem w/wireless adapter or access point and "wireless connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration.
Previously I used to see my neighbors wifi network names in the bar at the bottom where the wireless strength shows.  Now only see my computer/homegroup (which I also deleted and reset umpteen times)....is this a clue?
Thank you.

A new router has been sent and the problem still persists, a bt engineer has also visited but cannot find a solution.

Can anybody please help me?

A:I can't connect to wifi but connect with an Ethernet cable works, even when it isn't plugged in

It gets confusing as to which device is being used so as a guideline
disable one or the other (wifi vs wired) and don't allow both to be active at the same time. Technically, which ever device gets an IP address from your router will become the gateway to your ISP - - ignoring the connectivity of the second device to access your router.

With a laptop, we just toggle the keyboard to enable/disable wifi and the wired is easy - - just pull the cable out.

create a desktop shortcut to \windows\system32\devmgmt.msc
to control the devices (needs admin access)
expand [+] network adapters and you'll see the list
mine are

Dell Wireless 1502 ....
Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller
Just right-click->disable and you can always right-click->enable

The png posted shows both are enabled and the wired has the gateway.
If the cable is disconnected, this is quite impossible.

SO, first control which device is to be used and then make the connection.

This is the idea, I have DVR for CCTV and I need to configure it for port forwarding, and since it has only LAN connection it is not possible to connect in pocket wifi, so i used to have a wireless router since it has a LAN connection. I'm not at all sure I understand. Are you trying to use the wireless router as a Wireless Bridge (to connect to the pocket wifi via wireless and the DVR via ethernet)? If so, does the router have wireless bridge (or AP Client) mode?

Hi All,

I have two wifi APs in the home and I have it all set up so that one is the Internet by cell phone tether and the other is the cabled network via the router wifi.

Works just fine - except.

On wifi 1, Internet I have it set for "Connect automatically" which at boot up it does.

On wifi 2, Network I also have it set for "Connect automatically" which at boot up it does NOT do. I have to go in and connect manually even though the "Connect automatically" is checked.

It seems win8 sees "Connect automatically"and does it but then stops checking other connections. Probably a "feature."

Is there some way to force both "Connect automatically" to happen?

There is a group policy setting for this, but even if both are connected you will only be using one of those connections at a time.

Latitude E6520 running Windows 10. Was working fine and then 2 days ago the wifi dropped and won't go back on.

When I boot up, the wifi icon shows black and white with the little asterisk. I can click on it and see my network, and my neighbors, all showing up fine. However, after I click to try to join the network, it thinks for a bit and then says: Can't connect to this network. Even if I put in the wrong passcode I get the same error so it's never getting far enough to even validate that.

After I click Close to that, the Wifi icon then shows with a red/white x. I can then no longer see any wifi networks available at all. After a minute or so the red/white 'x' goes away and I can then try again but get the exact same results.

The network card that was in the laptop (DW1530) didn't technically have a Windows 10 driver from Dell so I took a card from a different laptop that is supported (DW1504) but it has the exact same results.

I also tried connecting to a different wifi and got the exact same results.

Anyone have any idea what might be causing this or how I can fix it? My other laptops, phones, Fire TV stick, etc can all connect to the router just fine. The laptop was just reimaged a week or so ago and worked fine for a few days before this happened.

Just to start off, I am COMPLETELY clueless and have no tech savvy whatsoever, so simple language would be appreciated

I've owned this laptop for a little over a year, and all this time I've been able to connect to Wifi without a problem. This morning the icon at the bottom left of the screen told me there was no Internet connection available. when I troubleshot it, it suggested using the Ethernet cord to connect. The Ethernet cord connects them fine, and the internet connection becomes available, but I'm still unable to use the Wifi.

This is an issue with my laptop, because all the other devices in my house are able to connect to the Wifi, and the modem is showing all the appropriate lights and such. I've tried turning it off and on again, but alas, this once that method has failed :/ I've also tried resetting the modem, and it made no difference.

Last night I was uninstalling various programs that I didn't need, and that's the only thing I've done differently to my usual computing habits. I don't think I removed anything unless I knew what it was, but it's possible I accidently removed something important. I don't know if that has any relevance or not, but it's all I can think of as the reason for this.

My laptop is a Toshiba Qosmio, and the system I use is Windows 7.

My modem is Telstra Bigpond.

Please help! D:

Hello! I have a "HP HP ENVY x360 - 15-u101ns (ENERGY STAR)" that was bought some time ago but I'm only using it now (so warranty is over). I'm having a lot of trouble with the wireless connection. It keeps dropping very very frequently in many different networks (some more than others). With other notebooks/tablets/mobiles that I usually use with these same networks I never have any problems (they literally work perfectly). I've tried everything I found on the internet. I went to the driver manager and chose the option so that the wireless adapter could not be turned off to save energy. I tried to update the wireless adapter driver through the windows update. Then through the HP Support Assistant. I tried resetting to the original driver. I tried downloading the driver from HP website and installing it manually. I went to all the http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02543015 steps and they were useless. Almost always when internet goes down I can run the troubleshooter (both of windows and HP Support Assistant) and it will restart the wireless adapter and the wifi connection will come back (magically). To give a little background, the notebook has been reset to the default (HDs formatted, original windows 8.1 re-installed and then, without any other installation or use, updated to windows 10). No anti-virus is installed (only windows defender). Can anyone give me any further idea on what may be causing this problem, or if this is simply a chronic HP/Intel... Read more

I bought this version of the laptop in November 2013 and a few days later I had to return it because the WiFi would not work. I got my second one and the WiFi worked for about 6 months. For months I thought it was Time Warner Cable and I would argue with them time after time doing speed test after speed test and sending me a new router. So then I started calling Tech Support for both Microsoft and HP and got the run around. Finally the place where I bought told me it was HP. So again I called Tech Support and they finally agreed that it was their hardware they began helping me. Each of their solutions would last for a months. FInally the WiFI just flat stopped working. After arguing with them about how long this problem has been going they finally agreed to fix it even though the 1 yr Warrenty had expired. They had me send it off to the facotry or HP repair shop for 7 days. Here they replaced 3 or 4 items.  This worked for about 8 months. I have been asking for help but again they want to be paid for knowledge even though the probem was never really solved. I have been trying use this Forum for help but I cannot find anything.  HP Envy dv6 Notebook PC Windows 10 64-bitOS Build 14393-.321Intel (R) Core (TM) i5--3230M CPU @ 2.60 GHz 2.60GHz That I am aware of the Updates have been installed as they took place on 10/12 and today is 10/14. When I plug into an Ethernet connection it works great. I bought an HP Envy 360 a couple months ago and it is really having problems. First, the google chrome application would not open at all, once I figured out to run as adminstator other problems started to emerge. Now, every once in a while, I will click on the wifi logo on the bottom right of my screen and it will say it is loading, but take over 5 minutes to load or not load at all. When this happens, I cannot open applications on my laptop like google chrome. The only way to get rid of this problem temporarly is to restart, please help! Thank you.

Good evening to everyone,I own an HP Envy 15-j104el with the latest version of Windows 10 (1607). Last summer I've replaced the original Ralink wifi adapter with a more powerful Intel Wireless-AC 7260 Dual-Band, 2x2 + Bluethoot. All right, the signal is much better and the yield in the use of the pc is consistent I've only one problem: I can't find wifi networks in 5 GHz. I can find only network in 2,4 GHz. This is a problem because my card should support these networks, both 2,4 and 5 GHz. I' ve installed the latest intel driver and checked in the various settings, and really everything seems ok. I think that it is an antenna problem of the notebook. How do I make sure if the integrated antenna in my notebook is compatible with dual-band cards? If there are other experiences with the same card or the same notebook, they are welcome.Someone can help/explain me? Thanks in advance

My HP ENVY m6 Notebook PC wireless internet access has been acting out the past couple days. I am currently running windows 8.1. I have done a trouble shoot my internet over and over and the connection is fixed for a couple minutes but then back to the same "no internet access" message. After trouble shooting many times, I decided to restore my computer to an earlier date then maybe it was an update or something that messed up my wifi adapter. So i did that, and the problem persists. I re-installed my adaptors and that did not work. I most recently went through the extent of even factory resetting my laptop and deleted everything. The problem is still there. I know it is not my connection because all my other devices are connecting just fine. I have read many of the forums for this problem and also other people's posts but nothing seems to work. I get the message "the default gateway is not available" when i trouble shoot my connection problems.
Also, when i go into ipconfig, i get a message saying "domain_not_set_invalid" for connection specifics.
This is getting really frustrating. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, I basically have this HP Envy 15 notebook and while it usually works ok, there's this think that it's wifi capabilities are simply atrocious, especially if the laptop in question is too far away from the router. Now, I did read somewhere in this forum that someone managed to fix this problem remotely. Would it be possible for you to do the same thing for me?

I've been having wifi connectivity problems for the past 8 months. I can connect for a solid 30 seconds before it says limited then no internet. I've done every troubleshooting possible, and no one will help me resolve this issue. I reset my computer (lost all my apps) hoping that it would resolve and no luck. AND after resetting it no longer has sound capabilities.

Hello.Recently I got a new router, which has two networks. One, with a 2,4 Ghz wifi and the other with the 5 Ghz wifi. I read through my laptop's specs and details and it said to have a dual wifi card incorpored, which means it supports the 5 Ghz wifi. My problem is it doesn't recognize the 5Ghz network (the network name doesn't appear when searching for available connections). Is there any issue that may be causing this? My laptop model is HP Envy 15 j108la.

Hello everyone,

Let me start off by saying whats wrong. Every since I've had this computer I have had an issue with connectivity. I have gone through several different troubleshoots with HP as well as looking through countless forums and webpages and none of them seem to help. When doing a speed test online I get about 15-18 mbps. However, when running the test on all other laptops through the house they get 50-55 mbps. Which is very frustrating. The most frustrating part is that when plugged into the router through an Ethernet chord, I get the normal 50 mbps. The service we have is from Comcast Xfinity and it is one of the highest services you can get I'm pretty sure. I'm not sure but I think that rules out any ISP issues.

Here are some more steps I have tried:
- Installed the recent BIOS
- Installed all drivers
- Check the cables on the wireless card
- Uninstalled and re-installed the wireless card

That's pretty much all I've tried and I'm starting to think the Wireless card is fried. Which if that is the case, I'd rather figure out for sure so I don't go spending money for no reason.

Hope y'all can help me out!

Thank you!
