Solved: Cannot resolve hostnames through DNS server

Q: Solved: Cannot resolve hostnames through DNS server

I am using an eMachines W3502. My internet comes through Suddenlink, and the cable modem is connected and working properly. It has been reset, both by myself and by Suddenlink. The NIC is also working correctly, as far as can be seen. I have an IP address, and the adapter correctly gets the DNS servers automatically. However, for reasons unknown, the computer will NOT resolve DNS addresses. If I ping a remote IP, I get an answer just fine, but if I ping google.com, the name cannot be resolved. I have confirmed with Suddenlink that their DNS servers are working fine, and I can confirm that. (I'm using a second PC to troubleshoot the first one, and to do so, I'm connecting through that same cable modem, and using the same DNS servers.) I have tried manually entering Google's free DNS servers, and (which I confirmed that I can ping), and this did not resolve the issue. I've flushed the DNS (no help) and even installed a second NIC. The second NIC detected perfectly, and behaved exactly like the first. It can get an IP, it can ping outside, but it cannot resolve host names. I've exhausted Suddenlink's tech support - they have confirmed that their hardware is working, and they won't support the issue beyond that.

I will post the results of a sysinfo as a reply to this message. For further assistance, I'll also post the results of a ipconfig /all.

Thanks ahead of time!

Preferred Solution: Solved: Cannot resolve hostnames through DNS server

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): Unable to resolve the server's DNS address.

I changed laptop to OpneDNS servers but this did not solve problem. I checked router info but it seems to work OK, however it is a new Motorola router/modem Surfboard SBG6580 model and I did not have these problems with previous router. Older router was not DOCSIS 3.0 compliant but this one is allowing me to couple to Comcast's Booster speed connection.

Hi, thank you in advance for any help or suggestions.
My laptop is connected to a router via wifi but it keeps getting a DNS fault.
I have another PC linked to the same router via WiFi and that works perfectly all the time. I have the same problem on both google chrome and IE browsers where I just get the message telling me that the DNS look up failed.
My internet is still connected as I can dial into my remote CCTV cameras and I can ping website ip addresses. Its driving me crazy because it is so unpredictable. Most times I can just turn off my wireless adapter and turn it back on and it works for another hour or so. But sometimes it wont work all day, unless I start my laptop in safe mode, when it works everytime!
I have flushed the DNS cache several times but to no avail.

Please has anyone got any suggestions.
im running windows 7.

Thank you

I have been running my xbox through a bridged connection from my laptop for the last year. Recently I updated the firmware on my router and now I am getting this error on the xbox. The xbox is the only platform I am having issues with. Both pc's, ps3, and wii work fine. To begin with I should mention that before even getting this far I had to put in the mac address of my laptop for the xbox to even connect to the network. Once I did this, however, the xbox did correctly identify my ip address, dns, addresses, gateway, etc. Even though it did identify these it will not connect to the internet. I have seen people mention that you should plug the xbox directly into the modem bypassing the router to see if it resolves the issue. My modem is my router so I can't do this. I have also noticed a multitude of threads on this but have not seen any resolved.

As the title says, I'm having a lot of trouble particularly with the BC irc server, wyldryde.

It was working fine before, and all of a sudden it can't resolve the server "irc.wyldryde.org" Port 6667, and I've tried several other variations of the name, and I recently pinged it, and it redirects me to myself at

EDIT: I've tried other servers, and they work fine. I'm thinking maybe the server's down...hopefully that explains everything.

A:Cannot Resolve Bc Irc Server

Since I can't figure out how to delete this thread, I'm going to just say that I resolved the issue, after 4 hours. Last thing I checked was the wyldryde website, and told me that most of the servers were down, but I found one close when that was up, and it connected beautifully. Sorry for this, you may delete this thread.

it does not seem to be a long enough disconnection to test if a DNS issue - so i would suggest we change the DNS to use google open DNS - see how below

to test if DNS you could open a web browser and type then it should open this website, but wont have some of the links or pictures - and trying the web address by name http://www.techguy.org/ will not work

I installed WinXP yesterday. I had Win98 before. (I just knew something like this was going to happen, that's why I stuck to Win98 for so long!!!)
I set up a few Dial-Up Connections (via US Robotics 56K faxmodem) and they connect but I cannot surf or check mail. My browser tells me "Page not found" and PuTTY (with which I tried to connect to a server I have an account on) said "Host not found".
Then I used NSLOOKUP to obtain the IP address of the server I tried logging on to and pasted that in PuTTY and it worked. I pasted the IP address into my e-mail client's "Provider's host name/IP" field and that worked too!
So it basically works.

But the system still can't resolve server names.

I tried connecting with the "Obtain DNS server automatically" option checked (My Connection > Properties > Networking > Internet Protocol > Properties) and it didn't work. Then I checked the option for manual DNS and entered the IP address which was returned by the NSLOOKUP command (I typed "nslookup" without arguments in a command prompt window) - because that's the IP of the server I connect to... right?
It still didn't work.

So now what?

Hi all,

I use Chrome most often and I'm constantly getting the Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): Unable to resolve the server's DNS address, with "sending request" at the bottom of my screen.

The problem happens with other browsers as well. Some useful information: it never happens on my work laptop, which uses the same router. I upgraded my router when it first started happening, and also changed from Windows firewall to Zone Alarm, and changed to AVG free for anti-virus. Still happening. So I think it must be something in my laptop software/settings and is not related to the router or the firewall.

I have no idea of what to do. It's the strangest thing. When I first started having problems, I noticed that the CSS didn't fully load on Yelp.com. Then I started getting the error 105. When I get that error, the only thing I can do to fix it is restart the computer. I've tried clearing the cache, but it does nothing. I've done every suggestion Google has to fix the problem and nothing fixes it. Just now images stopped loading on Facebook, then the CSS was all screwed up, so I just went ahead and restarted.

Sometimes after I restart and my internet is working well, it happens again within five minutes. Maddening. Hence my user name...

Another strange thing is that sometimes my network connection suddenly changes to local only. It's rare though and is not happening every time I get this Error 105. I got the Error 105 all day ... Read more

Recently we had our internet upgraded to get more Mbps. But right after they upgraded our internet there are some weird things going on with the internet. Whenever I go to a video streaming website the video will be replaced with a message
"Unable to resolve server's DNS address"
If it does not display that message it will load the video, but it will load it as slow as if we had a dial up connection; but the case is we have 15Mbps down and 1.2Mbps up with 30-40 ping. (speedtest.net) I was just wondering if there was any way to solve
this. I have tried some of the solutions posted on this website but none seem to worked. Please help and thank you.

A:Unable to Resolve Server's DNS Address

Have you contacted your internet service provider (ISP) as DNS usually are ISP related. Have they reset their modem or router,  not just power cycle?
I suggest you change the Preferred DNS server, try the following steps:
1. Click "Start", input "NCPA.CPL" (without quotation marks) and press Enter.
2. Right click on the connection that you use for the local connection, and then click "Properties".
3. Click to select "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)", and then click "Properties".
4. In the Internet Protocol window, let's change the "Preferred DNS server" to
5. Click 'OK' twice to complete the modification.
If the issue persists, please repeat the steps and change the "Preferred DNS server" to
Also, if the issue persists, I suggest you run the following command:
ipconfig /release

ipconfig /renew
To get IP address & DNS from DHCP, the DNS server should be internal DNS server IP.

Hope this helps,

Hey everyone. I have a test tomorrow and I've been reviewing everything. So far it's been easy except for what should be the simplest thing. I have one vmware running Windows Server 2003 with IIS hosting a web site, and I'm trying to connect to that site either locally or from a XP vmware, but neither are able to connect. I updated my Hosts file with the relevant host name and IP address and flushed my DNS cache but it still spits out errors both locally and on my XP vmware.

So, I go and install DNS on my W2K3 Server vmware and add the forward and reverse lookup zones and voila, it works with no other modifications.

What am I doing wrong here?

I have been having an odd intermittent problem with email on one of my two computers. Both are running Win XP and Office 2007.

On the laptop, everything works fine. On the workstation, an email will occasionally get stuck in the outbox with an error message saying ?Connection to server interrupted?. This only happens when I reply to an email and only to certain contacts and not always the same ones. Other emails come and go without any problem while this one remains in the outbox. I can even send a new message to the same contact without a problem.

I called in a tech. He made a change to the DNS server address. In the ?Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties? dialog, he changed the DNS server setting from ?Obtain DNS server address automatically? to ?Use the following DNS server addresses? and then in the ?Preferred DNS server? field, he entered ? He said that it was an old AT&T DNS address that was reliable.

This seemed odd to me, but after he did it, the email went out and I have not had any problems since (2 days).

Question #1: Is this a reasonable thing to do for this problem?

Question #2: What does this do?

A:Changing DNS server setting to resolve stuck outgoing emai

what it does is all networks go by ip but humans cant remember so we use names like pchelpforum.com what dns does is translate that to an ip so the network know were to go. if its slow then nothing goes anywhere. a better dns is & this very fast and also block malware site

We have 2 x Server 2008 R2 domain controllers and 120+ Windows 7 x64 clients.
We have a print server which runs Server 2008 R2. We have several other servers which also run Server 2008 R2.
An issue occurs intermittently and apparently at random, whereby a client will be unable to resolve the host/computer name of the print server.
When the issue occurs, we have confirmed the following:
- The client has a valid IP address.
- The client?s DNS server addresses are correct.
- The client can ping the IP address of the print server.
- The client can resolve the IP address of the print server by using nslookup and the server?s FQDN.
- The client cannot resolve the IP address of the print server by using nslookup and the host/computer name of the print server.
- The issue can occur regardless of which domain controller the client used to log on.
- When the output of ?ipconfig /displaydns? is printed to a text file, many of the other servers in our domain are present in the DNS cache but the print server is not.
- After the ?ipconfig /flushdns? command is executed, the client can resolve the host/computer name of the print server immediately.
If anyone has any thoughts on the cause of this issue and how to resolve it, I would be very grateful.

A:Windows 7 clients intermittently unable to resolve host name of server

Hi Squelchy,

How many computers are having this issue? From your statement below, I see one.

whereby a client will be unable to resolve the host/computer name of the print server.

Have you tried updating the NIC's driver?

What if you are logged on as a different User from that PC, are you able to replicate the issue?

A workstation on the network had the Locky virus launched on it Monday. I got ThreatTrack on the line to assist with this, and the tech removed several folders, e.g. Windows\temp, and others, and I had a bad feeling about this while he was doing this. I
was told to log on with a different username in safe mode, which is when I gave him access to the machine via team viewer. After he got off the system, name resolution would no longer work. From any browser, I cannot bring up any web pages via a hostname,
but web pages do pull up with the IP. From the command prompt, I cannot ping a hostname because of name resolution problems, but I can ping an IP. Nslookup does work, however. I initially tried "netsh int ip reset", and eventually removed the network
adapter from the device manager and reinstalled it. Nothing worked. I've been searching for an answer on Google, but nothing so far. I also tried "sfc /scannow". All prior system restore dates prior to the infection have been deleted. The DNS client
service is running.
The system in a 64-bit Windows 7 SP1 installation. Does anyone have an idea?

This issue has happened every now and then on the wifi only for some weird reason and in the past couple of months and now it's starting to happen on my wired network. I cannot go to any websites such as google.com unless I use their IP directly. This means some things like Skype and TOR (only method I have of posting this at the moment) still work. I've tried everything from static to DHCP LAN IPs, router/ISP/opendns/google's DNS servers, and nothing seems to fix the issue. This affects all wireless and now wired devices including android, windows, and lubuntu. Chrome gives the error message "DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG". What on Earth is wrong here? Is it the router? Modem? Is it my ISPs fault? Does anyone have any clue?

A:Cannot access any hostnames, only IPs

Not a Chrome fan.. Drop to DOS and type in nslookup and see what the output is. Here's an example:

C:\Documents and Settings\MikeyB>nslookup
Default Server: google-public-dns-b.google.com

In the above you can see from my computer here, I have google's dns resolver manually configured in my ipv4 properties. You have said that you have tried putting in a static DNS address and it did'nt work. I'd check inside your router for the info that your ISP might have xmitted to you.

Also, flush out your DNS cache

ipconfig /flushdns

My current setup is this.

PC A = Domain controller. 2 nics (bridged) and adsl connected via usb.
PC B = 1 nic
PC C = 1 nic

PC A has a ip of
PC B has a ip of - DHCP
PC C has a ip of - DHCP

PC A is the domain controller and also serves as a DNS and DHCP server running win2k3. PC B and C are running winxp.

I have a few problems which ive just noticed.

Firstly, PC C always joins the domain with the first charchter of the hostname being capitalised...why?

Secondly, all machies can ping each other, but if i ping PC A from PC B, and then try pinging PC B form PC A it suddenyl stops communicating (cannot find the host - times out).

Thirdly, if i ping PC C from PC B it pings fine, but does not display the FQDN only the netbios name.

I have tried to re-register the DNS server as well as checking firewall rules etc. One thing i have realised is that i have not entered the domain name as the primary DNS suffix on the client pc's. I am currently at work and will do this when i have the chance. But apart from this what else could be the problem?

I found out what happened (unbelievable).

This is the proof Western democracies are slowly
falling into China-like dictatorships while people
keep on sleeping.

I connected another PC to the Internet and...
guess what? The same problem arose.

To cut a long story, my ISP (Telecom Italia) has
blocked some sites, they are not accessible at all.

If you connect to those sites while a local server
is NOT running, you are presented with a "Page not found"

But, if a local server like Apache is running on your machine
and you try to connect to a given censored site, you are
redirected to (localhost).

I have had the confirm of this by trying to connect to
a different censored site (kickasstorrents.com) while Apache
was running. Same behaviour as kat.ph (that is, I am redirected

I'm using a wirless labtop but I'm having an issue where I cannot ping any hostname on the network.
From labtop:
ping hostname of a computer on NW << errmsg 'Ping request could not find host.'
ping IP of a computer on NW and it works.
When I ping local hostname or local IP I get a, 'request timed out'

From another machine on the network:
When I ping the labtop's hostname I get, "Ping Request could not find host..."
When I ping the labtop's IP address I get, "Request timed out."

I also did an IPCONFIG /ALL and pinged the default gateway IP, DNS and DHCP servers and all worked.

Is there any way to configure something here so that the wirless labtop can communicate with the rest of the network?

A:Cannot ping local or remote hostnames

this is called Ping By Name, the other form is Ping By IPaddress.

You should always be able to is Ping By IPaddress and if not, then there's a problem
with the TCP settings.

Ping By Name requires some service to translate Name=>Address.
At home, the simplest means is to add the names into the host file.
The file is located at
You may need to login as an admin id AND to reset the read-only attribute to
be able to save the file.

Use Notepad to do the edit.

The content should be
name (sp) addressthere must be at least one (sp) SPACE between the name and the address
eg: linux7srvr

ALL THAT SAID, you may have further issues on the network configuration.
The address of each system normally changes everytime you start the system due
to the DHCP service in your router. It is preferable to use DHCP rather than static
addresses, especially when you will seldomly need Ping By Name.

Hopefully, you don't need to debug your network every day, so I would recommend
AGAINST all of the above and use Ping By IPaddress when necessary.

Hey Guys,

I got what I assume is a real simple problem for you folks but then again this is my first try in the world of networking/webdev/servers.

The Backstory
So I have a Linux server in my house (runs Fedora 14) that I was using as a FTP server for my friends and I to upload files to when we needed to share stuff. It used to be linked to my dyndns account which pointed my old hostname lucout.homelinux.com to my FTP server for FTP connections.

The Problem
Now that dyndns is no longer offering free accounts I've taken the next step and purchased my own domain (lucout.com) from namecheap.com and want to point my FTP server to that domain.

What I Have Done So Far
I got my namecheap account set up to have A type host records that point to my comcast-given IP address 50.152.XXX.XXX for the @ and www. hostnames. I also have URL forwarding turned on with those settings.

I have ddclient (finally) running on my linux server with the following ddclient.conf file:

daemon=300 # check every 300 seconds
syslog=yes # log update msgs to syslog
#mail=root # mail all msgs to root
mail-failure=root # mail failed update msgs to root
pid=/var/run/ddclient/ddclient.pid # record PID in file.
ssl=yes # use ssl-support. Works with
# ssl-library

## To obtain an IP address from Web status page (using the proxy if defined)
use=web, web=checkip.dyndns.org/, web-skip='IP Address' # found after IP Address

## NameCheap (namecheap.com)

Why go through all this if you could just keep running with DynDNS for the pay for service plan? I was also affected by this and they gave me a coupon code to save an additional 20 or 25% (can't remember) off their service packages. I ended up just paying $60ish for 5 years of service.

I have forgotten the url of a site I've used a lot. It hasn't been real long since I used it, so the site should still be active. I have looked through stored passwords, bookmarks, and histories for many browsers, and can't find it. I've searched online by what kind of site it is - a site to help memorize lists, like names of all the elements, or countries of the world, or words in a foreign language, and haven't had any luck with that approach.

What I want to do now is use a program to search the entire hard drive for domain names and make a list- searching every file would probably do, or every file but able to pick folders to include and exclude might save a lot of time. The domain name is almost certain to end in .com, if not, then .net, so being able to pick which domain names would be useful too.

For this purpose I don't need to see the file except for the domain names. Ideally each domain name (hostname, perhaps, something like "stackexchange.com") listed once, in alphabet order, or maybe sorted by the date the file it was in was last accessed or modified or created.

Something like

but much much larger.

I am unfortunately not in a position to spend money on the software.

So svchost.exe (netsvcs) connects to weird hostnames and I found out by chance, when I opened Resource monitor. What does this mean? My antivirus/firewall application seems to think there's nothing wrong. How can I be sure that there's nothing suspicious going on?

Thank you

Have you searched any of the "suspicious" entries? Could be just things from your isp provider but I don't know.

I cannot resolve local DNS names for my network. I can resolve external DNS names, but not local DNS names. These resolve okay on the server, and on my main2 server. dnsmaster is running Mageia Linux 4.1, and it is running whatever version of bind it has. main2 is running Windows XP, and is on the same subnet. It works okay too. My Windows 8.1 client cannot resolve the names. I tried this fix: http://social.technet.microsoft.com...al-names-working-fine?forum=w7itpronetworking, and it did not work. My machines are all on a workgroup. They are on the SMILEY workgroup.

Been trying to get to the opendns website to sign up. The site takes about 5 minutes to load and when it does there is no CSS.

Problem appears to be related to Vista as I can resolve the site on my XP Notebook. I've tried on 3 desktops that have Vista.

This is the only problem and site have a problem with. No other problems with anything or sites since I can remember.

I've done this to try and repair: multiple antivirus scans, malware scans, flush dns, reset ip, reset winsock, reset ipv4 and ipv6 stacks. Deleted history, cache, etc on three different browsers FF 3.6.6, IE 8, Chrome

Searched Google until my eyes hurt. Found a few others with similar problems, but there was no fix. I've read about some the IPv6 issues with Vista, but know enough about that to be dangerous.

Thinking it might be a Vista issue I considered using my free upgrade to Win 7 until I found that a number of my programs are not compatible with Win7 and I would have to purchase upgrades.

I would be eternally grateful if someone can help me resolve this problem.

As always, thank you in advance for your comments.

I had installed couple of softwares for creating a hotspot on my laptop but it did not work properly and then I uninstalled them. One of the softwares has left some trace and is showing a message everytime I start my laptop and keeps on coming up even I close it. The message box says: 'Network Connections' - You (or a program) has requested information from resolver1.qheal.ctmail.com, which connection do you want to use?
It shows all the connections availvable and the application connects if I select one. And if I select 'cancel' the message comes again.
It seems that the application is of Windows XP but some other program is doing this. I need to permanently stop this message from coming up. Please help.

My computer is on the floor (tower case) and I have mobility issues so sometimes it is hard for me to bend down to plug my headphones into the computer for private listening. I inadvertently touched the USB port with the headphone jack by mistake and it detected a power surge issue, so I disconnected the headphones, selected the reset option instead of close and rebooted. All is well and Device Manager shows no conflicts. I have a Dell Dimension 3000 and it is very difficult to feel those ports with the plug.

I have a Dell Dimension 4400, running Windows 2000 Professional. First off, this computer was given to me a few years back, and I do not have the cd for it to reinstall.

I'm able to power the pc on, I get the Dell logo, Windows 2K appears to start up, gets halfway through, then I get the blue screen with a stop error 0x0000007B, inaccessible boot device. I'm not able to enter safe mode. In the bios event log, I previously got a pre-boot error, cmos configuration error and the battery was low. In addition, the date/time was not accurate. Last week I replaced the cmos battery and now I receive a pre-boot error, cmos battery failure. Changes I've made to date/time in bios are not taking. In other words, I make the changes, save and exit by hitting F10, computer restarts and I get the stop error screen. I power the pc off, go back into bios, and the date/time changes I've made are not there. Actually, none of the changes I make (and save) take. All four diagnostic lights on the back of the pc are solid green, I've installed the cmos battery correctly. I've been told I need to reconfigure bios (uhhh, what?!!! ) Feel like I'm missing something so basic, but just can't figure it out. By the way, I did NOT write down any configurations before I changed the battery; found out afterwards, I should've done that...DOH!!! Also, how do I run a chkdsk /F if I can't get past the blue screen? All help is appreciated.

I have read (I believe) all the posts about Adobe Flash problems, but have not found any suggestions I haven't already tried. I've had Flash on and working without any problem in both IE and Fire Fox, but today it won't work. Keeps telling me that same message others have posted of needing the newest version, and having Java Script enabled. I have done that. It says it installed correctly.....but nothing plays on any site that requires that.
I also have removed the program, restarted the PC, downloaded it again from the correct place, reinstalled it, and it still does the same thing......on both IE and FireFox.
I am running Windows XP Professional, v. 5.1, IE 8, and FoxFire v. 1.92.
I apologize if I missed something, but don't think I have???
Would surely appreciate some help.

I have a home network with four devices on it: a desktop with Windows XP SP3, an external hard drive, a laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium, and a laptop with Windows XP SP3. The desktop connects through an ethernet cable, the two laptops connect using wireless connections, and the external connects with a USB cable to a router.

I also have a domain hosted through an external company. I have no problems accessing my Website with my two laptops, but it times out at my desktop. I performed a tracert from the desktop, but it seems to stop at the router. I tried pinging my domain name, but it isn't resolving to the proper IP address. It is, instead, trying to resolve to Both laptops resolve the domain name properly.

How can I get it to resolve to the proper IP address from my desktop?

A:Solved: Desktop cannot resolve domain address

Hi mysdyva, and welcome to TSG.

1) Are the laptops and the desktop connecting to the same router?

2) Run IPCONFIG /ALL from the command prompt on a laptop and for the desktop. Do they both show the same DNS server settings?

3) Any chance you have a HOSTS file set up on the desktop that may include a mapping of the domain name to the address?

been dealing with hangs/ no response for about 4wks now. Went thru a malware investigation on another forum and couldn't find anything.(Adw, JRT, Mbar, eset) Thought an external backup drive was the cause (if fell), disconnected it, things ran better for a day, then back to hangs and no response. I resorted to a system restore prior to these events. This did not resolve the problem.
Things seem to go bad when the system is idle. I did find a pup.optional.fullspectrumadmin w/mbar on a safe mode boot scan prior to the system restore. I may have picked it up after those scans. Every time I boot up, I get a 'new hardware found' message and the install wizard box opens for me to install a driver for the 'multimedia audio controller'. I'm assuming it's referring to the sound card. I put in my soundblaster cd so windows could search it for the drivers but it didn't work. Also put my original Dell install/driver cd's in, did the search, and that didn't work either. This all started last week when I walked in and saw my computer trying to boot up. Once I got in, the date was reset back to Nov. 2003 and I had to sync it with time-a.nist.gov. That part has been resolved but the 'new hardware found' keeps happening. I'm getting sound so I don't know what's up with the sound card, unless it's referring to something else.

I've a workstation running WinXP Pro here. We've just a basic MS workgroup with a few shares. All the computers except for this one can resolve their respective names just fine. But, on this particular computer, I can't resolve any of the other workgroup names nor can those other compouters resolve the broken PC's name. The errors I'm getting are so general, I really have no idea where to start to fix this problem.

I'm using static IPs. Ran the Net Setup Wizard. Firewalls are off. IPs are pingable. It's all on the same subnet.

What might you guys suggest?

Click View options are currently unavailable.
Down, you disabled Enable Quick Start (recommended).
Click on Save changes.

I'm putting a website together for my cousin and we're going to transfer their domain name. We're planning on doing the hosting on Lunarpages. The domain name should transfer just fine, but one concern we have is whether or not their current e-mail address (which shares the same name) will also begin directing e-mail towards the new host. So will their current e-mail address transfer easily too?

A:Is transfering e-mail accounts as easy as transfering hostnames?

If it is the same domain name, after the transfer, setup the email
addresses in the control panel at the registrar, and everything
should work as soon as the transfer is complete and the
domain is active.

Hey All,

I am working on a server and recently two of their mail accounts have began not sending out email. When I first looked into the outbound box, the mail I sent out is still pending. It usually takes anywhere from 1 minute to several hours to for it (Argosoft Outbox) to be delivered. Also, when I send out a email to that particular a particular address, it will just sit there.

I have also done scans with AVG 8.0 and found that it had I-Worm/Bagz.D infection. I quickly quarantined that infection as to not allow to infect other files on the pc / server. I have also done a Hijack This Scan, please can someone look at this and tell some about what I am making out.

XP Pro SP2, all latest updates. When I reboot, I can correctly sync to a time server, but after an unknown amount of time it goes back to saying "The RPC server is unavailable" instantly after clicking Update Now, regardless of what server I tell it to sync to. I also noticed that if I view my nForce Networking Controller status, then click Properties and go to the Authentication tab, everything is greyed out. If I hit OK without changing anything (I can't change it even if I wanted to), a message pops up saying "An unexpected condition occured. Not all of your requested changes in settings could be made" and just goes back to that window. I have to hit cancel to close it. These two issues seem to be related since right after I reboot, the Authentication tab works normally (as well as the time sync like I mentioned above), and they both seem to stop working at the same time. I have no idea if it happens after something I run or if it's just after a certain amount of time or what. Any ideas?
