Q: Lenovo Companion problem

I tried to open lenovo companion and do the optimization but i failed due to a problem that lenovo companion has encountered. i restarted my laptop twice but the problem still exist. Also, i unistalled it and installed again but nothing happened. What else should i do to fix the problem ?

Preferred Solution: Lenovo Companion problem

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

I am currently running Lenovo Companion 3.62.1.0 on Windows 10 Pro on my Thinkpad P50.Everything used to work correctly, until Companion started giving out the "There is a problem in retrieving new Updates. Please try again later." messsage when I check for new updates. I have no idea what happened, it used to work just fine. Any help is appreciated. Regards.

Hello,  When I try to run the "Optimize Your ThinkPad" It hangs up on the PC Cleanup and doesn't progress to System Accelerate, or Critical Update.  Is this something I should be concerned about, as my machine seems to be running fine?  Also in Companion, when I try to run the Hardware Scan, it says it cannot run the scan at this time.  Both operated as expected a couple weeks ago.....Thanks for any guidance.John

I used Lenovo Settings on my Lenovo Yoga 3 11 for the battery conservations mode. So I was forced to install Lenovo Companion since it recently replaced Lenovo Settings.Ever since I did this, I have noticed the following:* Screen brightness keeps changing by itself slightly* Screen contrast keeps changing by itself slightly* Colours look muted and unsaturated, and filtered. Makes the sceen look worse than it should.* trackpad is only ignorred if the tablet mode is fully flat. The slightest opening causes the trackpad and keyboard to become sensitive. All of this irrespective of whether Dynamic Brighness Control is enabled or disabled in Lenvovo Companion hardware settings, and regarless of whether recommended hardware settings are used.Anyone else noticed anything similar? I'll report back after I've uninistalled the app to see whether any of these behaviours disappear.

A:Noticed issues ever since I installed Lenovo Companion (which replaced Lenovo Settings)

So I deactivated "Change brightness autoatically when lighting changes" in Windows Display Settings. This seems to have been the cause of the brightness and contrast changes, but the colours still look blander than I recall. Sorry to suspect Lenovov Companion so quickly, but the changes coincided with it's installation. Admittedly Windows 10 Fall edition just landed too.

I have a problem with the Lenovo Systems Interface Foundation Driver. It's not working although it shows under System Devices to be installed, the latest version, but I cannot use any of my Lenovo apps. Under events in Systems Devices it has a note that says : "Device ROOT\SYSTEM\0003 requires further installtion" What can I do th get the driver working as it should. Thanks

When I do a Hardware scan using the Companion all areas go through OKButWhen I use the Solution Centre for Hardware scans it stops at Mathermatical Operations test & goes no further.Question why?

Hi, a couple of weeks ago, I tried to open Lenovo Settings and it instruct me to uninstall it, as all functions are now integrated to Lenovo Companion. I did, but noticed that the Lenovo Battery Gauge still points me to Lenovo Settings (left click on the battery gauge). I uninstalled Companion, and Settings, rebooted, and installed companion again, but looks the Gauge does not uninstall. How can I remove the gauge and make it point to companion? Thanks!

Hello, I need help on my Lenovo Companion app with it's dust removal option.
 
I just bought my Lenovo ideapad 700 for a week now.
 
Previously I had the dust removal option in the Lenovo Quick Optimizer widget on taskbar.
 
After I turned it on, the option never existed anymore in the quick widget and even in Lenovo Companion app itself.
 
Would really love to see this feature again in my new laptop.

Recently, whenever I launch "lenovo Companion" and choose "system update", the "critical auto-updates" (under schedule lenovo updates) runs forever and never come to an end! This has never happened before and it seems to have something to do with your recent sysyem down or configuration change.

Use the windows store for latest Companion version.Use SIF download from  Companion offering, not SIF10ww512.exe on the support page.Best solution: Discard Companion and install the latest System update.systemupdate5-07-0027.exe. Companion, LSC new have soooo many issues.If the support site, which is waxed for a few days, functions.

Helloi've installed & unistalled lenovo settings and lenovo companion several times on my 320-15k laptop and they don't work .when i try to open one of them the window just appears and disappers after 2 sec quickly.i just want them due to conservation mode , so is there any solution?

Lenovo Companion has not detected any new updates since Apr 2. The last update installed by Lenovo Companion was the driver for "Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit), 8.1 (64-bit), 7 (32-bit,64-bit) - ThinkPad" 14.8.4.1046. Looking at the drivers web page there are a few updated drivers since Apr 2 but Lenovo Companion is just not showing any when I check for new updates. I understand that not all drivers on the website are for my particular model but these look applicable for my setup. They are not showing up in Lenovo Companion though and my current drivers are older than these. Intel Snowfield Peak 8260 Bluetooth Driver 18.1.1546.2762 on Apr 4BIOS Update 1.40 on Apr 11Hotkey Features Integration 8.80.10 on Apr 15 Any ideas?

A:TPY 260 - Lenovo Companion not getting updates

There is always a delay between when drivers are posted on the website, and when they show up in Lenovo Companion (or System Update).  I won't bore you with the details, but it is a internal process reason that requires additional work and testing.  Anyway, it usually takes 2-3 weeks until new drivers show up in Companion (or System Update).  Sorry for this inconvenience.

Lenovo Companion seems impossible to launch, except from the app/start menu in windows 10.I tried to copy the absolute filepath into HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM\TPHOTKEY\8001 file entry but it does not work.I also tried to create a desktop shortcut, but the message says ?This application can only run in the context of an app container?.I don't know what the final message indicates, but it is for sure not easy to configure the blue ThinkAdvantage button.There must be a way?Thanks/Anders

Hi,I have Lenovo ideapad Y700 with WIN10.Today I tried to open Lenovo setting and I got this error message:"Check your account Lenovo Companion is currently not available to you. go to the store" pressed close on the popup message and get anouther error:"file system error (-2413322111)".The same happen when i tried to open the lenovo companion.I went toi the store and its written that its already installed (as should be).What can I do? and why do I got this error message. Thanks in advancedMeir

I have Lenovo Yoga. It's quite new. Win 10 included. Now, for some reason or another Lenovo Companion won't start anymore. It says that theres a problem and you should restart pc. But restart won't help. I also treid to re-install Companion app, but that didn't help either... Any idea what's wrong? And how to make it workagain?

I have a T440s which I bought in July 2014. It is out of warranty. Lenovo companion reports my "primary" battery is "BAD" but says absolutey nothing else even though it reports a full charge. In fact the lenovo battery icon in the corner of my display shows battery is green and 100%. I'd like to understand whether this battery is bad in the sense that it should be removed from the computer immediately, or whether it has detected that it is no longer holding a full charge and could be left there. I am almost always at the desktop in a docking station so I don't need the full charge. I don't understand why all they report is "Bad". Any suggestions as to how I might find more or if it is just reporting lower capacity and nothing more? Also, it was kind of confusing which battery they meant when they said "primary" is bad. I could see an argument that either is the primary battery. Better to have used the terms integrated and removable. I removed the removable battery and reran the test to determine the primary battery is actually the integrated battery. I think the service person said the opposite. The lenovo companion page that reports the battery is BAD has a link for more information and it goes to a general lenovo webpage that has nothing to do with support. They are trying to get me to apply for a lenovo credit card I think. Its so disgraceful how they dropped the ball on this one. Alex

Since latest Windows 10 Update  Lenovo Setting, Companion and Windows Store won't start anymore. tried different options, starting as Administrator i got the message, that this App is not allowed to start as Administrator, i should change the user account an try again. But as User the App won't start at all, even Windows Store is not reacting. Any Suggestions? Thanks in advance sonoftheboss

Just wondering if anyone has solutions to the following solutions for my problems with my X1 Yoga - i5-6200u & regular 1440p screen...My battery life runs ~3:00 when screen brightness is 60%. The fan will go on quite loud if I have ~8 Chrome windows open on regular websites... I've run a When I open Lenovo Companion to try to run Diagnostics, I get a Windows popup that says "This app is not currently available to you."

I have just installed Windows 10 & the Lenovo Companion Package.Problems:-1 When I go into the Companion, it keeps asking me to install the "Dependantcy" package.I do this but then it asks again, & again, what is the problem?2 When I go into the "Companion" /Systems Update I turn the 3 switches "On" to get automatic installation of Lenovo & Windows updates. But the next time I go into the Companion the switches have been turned to "Off". Again what is the problem? I can't see any icon to check to keep the switches on.Also my Win. 10 set up is set to give automatic updates.Hope somebody can help an old man

I just did an update of my system to Windows 10 on my X220. Also, I downloaded the Lenovo Companion most updated version. Anybody can tell me please why I am not able to check on my battery condition; instead, I am getting the following message: "We can't detect your system's battery at this time". Thanks in advance.

New P7 1, Hardware Settings Just Hangs with "Initializing Settings" message. System Update working OK..I deleted the other 2 lenovo proghams because they  indicated that they were  included in Lenovo Companion.Should I delete Lenovo Companion and download it and re-install it?
