The battery is not detected/ The battery is not used Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro

Q: The battery is not detected/ The battery is not used Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro

My Yoga 3 Pro-1370 does not detect its own battery. At the lower right of the screen, it appears the battery sign empty and crossed by a diagonal line. When I click on it the message "The battery is not used" appears. OneKey Optimizer says: "No battery is present". Please see two images attached. Got the laptop and the battery inspected by a professional but he couldn't fix the problem. He himself updated the Bios, Windows, cleaned the inside and the fan of the computer but the problem is still there. Please provide me with a solution ASAP.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The battery status toggles between not charging, not used, and unauthorized battery after it was calibrated using one key. Before that, the battery was working perfectly, lasting close to 5 hours. Now the laptop shuts off when unplugged and the battery status is constantly changing. I've had this laptop for approximately a year now and it was unused and left in an unopened box for the first 8 months.

I am struggling with this for a while now. In Hungary we basically have no Lenovo support. My Yoga 2 is considered old but still a very-very good laptop. The Energy Manager complains that the battery is old and I can see it in its performance as well unfortunately. I tried several sellers on Ebay but I keep getting some crappy quality, usually old, refurbished like (but it does not work at all) batteries. I want a real ORIGINAL Lenovo battery that is BRAND NEW (not manufactured in 2014), that is a real stuff, not just a sticker on the outside, crap in the inside. Could you please help me?

Hi everyone! Is it ppossible to buy NEW battery form my Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro 13 Notebook? It uses the L12M4P21. I looked at many places but all the batteries are made in 2003 or 2004. As I know they loose their performance if they sit on the shelf for many years... Is it possible to find really newly made original Lenovo battery for my laptop?

A:I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro 13, I need a new battery... but NEW, not battery that was made in 2004!

Hi Moksa,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

It may be hard to say as because of the age of the model but you can try calling in EMEA parts sales desk for your region (Hungary 30 722-37-91). On the battery sticker is also the battery manufacturer which you can try but I am not as optimistic for newer manufactured battery.

I would say that as long as they provide the standard battery one year warranty, then it would be a good option to go.

I hope this helps answer your query.

Regards

Since a few days I am facing the problem that my battery cannot be detected, which results in the system not being able to determine the amount of power left in the battery. I am using a X1 Yoga with 64-bit Windows 10 version 1709. I have already tried reinstalling the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant driver. I also updated the Lenovo Companion app, disabled the battery in the BIOS and restarted the system. However nothing seems to work. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?

Hello I recently bought a Yoga 900S and it was working fine for a day or two, but suddenly the battery symbol had an 'x' and it kept saying BATTERY NOT DETECTED. When that happened, my laptop would only stay awake for a few minutes or seconds then shut down. When I put it on charge, the 'x' was still displayed over the battery symbol but it wouldn't shut down, until a few days later when it would shut down even if it was on charge. So I didn't use my laptop for a day or two and then started using it again. For a few days, the problem was gone, but now it's back. I did recently update to Windows 10, but I don't know if that's what's causing the problem. Can someone please tell me what's wrong with my laptop? The problem is really annoying. Thanks

Been having lots of trouble with my Yoga Pro 3, the latest being the battery.  When the power got low the battery icon would turn red and the screen dim to save power, as it always has done.  But then when I connected the power lead, the power indicated would suddenly say 0%.  I recalibrated the battery, but that fix was short-lived.  The 0% was continuous, and I could not change it.  Looking at various on-line threads, I tried uninstalling Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery driver, having being assured it would reinstall when i next fired up the laptop.  Still no fix.  So, I just bought a new battery and put it in, fired up the laptop expecting at least a tiny bit of charge.  Nothing.  With the power lead in the laptop fires up ok, but now shows an icon in the taskbar - next to the main lead symbol, a battery symbol crossed-through, with the pop-up caption 'The battery is not used'.  If I open OneKey optimiser, it says no battery is present. Any ideas what I can try next?

Hope someone have seen this and found a way of fixing it. The Thinkpad Yoga 14 was bought new from BestBuy, with Windows 10 already installed. A few days ago, after I finally allow Windows 10 to install the "update", the battery started to "disappear", ie the power icon has a "X" and with a message "No battery is detected". The battery driver has a June 21 date, a months after the purchase. So this must be the driver brought in by the Win10 update (note: this is not from Win7, Win8 etc to Win10, but an update of Win10). Removing and reinstalling battery driver did not fix the problem as the same driver is installed again. I also cannot roll back the version as Windows does not show any previous version. I also cannot "restore" as Windows does not actually restore the system: Windows shows the update still installed even after it was "restored" to a state prior to the "update". I also tried to install Lenovo's new power management driver. No help either.  Any suggestions, other than to returning the computer? This is for my son. He'll start his school right now! Thanks!

I have a Lenovo Flex 2-15. It operates with or without the AC adaptor being plugged in, so I am quite sure it does have a battery. I could not determine how to display a battery level indicator or icon which is a common feature on most laptops. I just couldn't find such a thing on this machine. I loaded an app called "Lenovo Settings" (version 3.111.0.0). When I click on the Power Status tab, I see a battery icon with three dashes, a status messages "No battery Installed", and "AC adaptor is attached".  [ When I unplug the adaptor, it still says it is attached! ] So, several questions:   - Does this "Lenovo Settings" app really do anything? Is it compatible with the Flex 2-15?   - How do I see the battery status?   - Did I accidentally uninstall a utility? Thanks for all the help in advance.

Get a messagebox saying "battery not detected" and it's not charging from mains. So laptop has now turned into a desktop... as needs plugging in continually... making it almost useless for purpose. This happened exactly after firmware update a few weeks ago. By coincidence the management software also kindly informed me that it could manage the battery better and stop it wearing out by only charging up to 90% - fair enough, but don't treat me like a muppet and disable it without any way to get it back. Tons of Windows 10 updates today (after not being able to use it for a few weeks) but still no battery. I tried F1 BIOS but nothing there to enable the battery (only to disable it). This is frankly a joke - timing shows it's due to the firmware update because the battery was fine and lasted a couple of hours right before. In 25 years of countless laptops, have never had this problem - batteries weaken gradually but don't suddenly lock up and require a paid replacement suddenly. How do we run down our original battery properly before polluting the planet? Phil

My original 9 cell Lenovo battery pack dropped from 3 hrs to 2 hrs capacity after a couple of years. So when it stopped working, "battery not detected", I thought it was forced into retirement due to low capacity. In fact I opened the pack and all cells were unexpectedly within millivolts and were good to at least 2 Ah. I get an aftermarket 9 cell pack, and it arrives with zero volts. eBay seller quickly sends me another. But the W540 cannot detect it. I order two 6 cell packs from two other vendors. None are detected by the W540.So it strikes me maybe there is something wrong with the connector, and not that the handshakes had failed by these aftermarket manufacturers. Lo and behold, the two positive pins on the laptop were bent, and so was the plastic tongue. It turns out that you can gently force in the battery and hear the double click of the lock, and due to misalignment, normal insertion would bend the pins. No connection will be established if the male pins on the laptop are bent. After straightening them, which breaks the plastic tongue guide, I was able to insert the battery and the battery is now recognized. So if you get a "battery not detected" error, before suspecting the cells or the pack, you may want to check the male connector pins on the laptop and make sure they are all straight. Also check the female connector on the pack as that can be bent, or the female connector pushed into the pack. I believe the alignment of the battery connector is a bit off with res... Read more

I bought lenovo y500 two days ago in INDIA.  In the lenovo energy management system 8.0, I found a battery calibration option and decided to do it.  The steps mentioned there were as follows. 1. Full charge2. Full discharge  The process performed full charging followed by complete discharge of the battery which caused the laptop to shut down.   When I tried turning on my laptop, it could not start.  The battery charging indicator LED wasnt switched on even though the power cord was inserted into the laptop.  I could start the laptop only after removing the battery.   Once the laptop was on, I inserted the battery back in and it began to charge.  After about 50% of charging, I removed the power cord and inserted it again.  Now the battery couldnt resume charging.  I again had to shut down the laptop and repeat the above steps of inserting battery after switching on the laptop without battery.  Only then the battery would resume charging. After this, I decided to allow the battery to charge to 100%. But, the charging remained stuck at 99% and could not fully charge the battery.  When I removed and reinserted the power cord, the same problem persisted of battery not resuming charging. Please help me with this problem.  I read on few forums about uninstalling microsoft ACPI which supposedly solves this issue.  However, ACPI returns back after I restart my laptop.I also tried switch... A:LENOVO Y500 BATTERY NOT CHARGING AFTER USING LENOVO'S BATTERY GAUGE CALIBRATION

ADMIN Edit - While the original post below is marked as the solution, because service will be required if the battery will no longer charge after performing a battery reset, I am adding a Lenovo update here to confirm.   Normal operation will allow the battery to relearn its capacity characteristics when using the battery reset function.  Typically this is not needed in normal use..   Batteries are equipped with a safety feature that will permanently disconnect them (like a fuse) if cell imbalance or an internal short is detected.   This tends to be statistically infrequent, but also normal, and would require a battery replacement.  (Batteries have a 1 year warranty).   This battery feature can also  produce similar results to what is being discussed in the thread, so it should first be considered by service.   This particular  forum discussion also involves a situation that could affect a limited number of systems, and could lead service to replace the system board during warranty.

If your system experiences these symptoms, please contact service during the warranty period.

I'll try and explain this one best i can. User came to me with their Yoga 15 with an issue where it randomly shuts down on battery power, as in completely switches off.  It sometimes displays a message to say the battery cannot be detected, other times just shuts down. The conclusion I've found is that when the bottom panel is off the machine the battery is completely detected in Windows, and the Lenovo Settings app. It runs fine, never cuts off even with lots of IE instances open.As soon as I put the bottom panel back on the battery appears to be disconnected in Windows, and it also shows it not charging. Intermittently it also states the battery power is low or not detected when booting up. Found that there's a battery / system reset button on the underside that may be the cause of the issue. Pressing this button with the underside of the Laptop off resets the machine entirely, I believe it's the battery reset button incase the machine ever gets stuck at any point (as by rights it's a non-removable battery and there's a small pin hole on the case over this button). Works flawlessly without the bottom case in place, as soon as I re-connect it when the unit is on Battery power I loose the battery status in the Lenovo Settings app. The machine will then randomly shut down. Any thoughts on this one, it's the strangest thing. Many thanks all.

A:Lenovo Yoga 15 - shuts down on battery

When you put the panel back, is it touching/blocking any wires?
Have you tried to do a factory reset? If everything works fine then, try updating drivers one by one to see if it comes back.

Recently my Lenovo Yoga 720 15-IKB has started shutting down after a few minutes when on battery. It's fine when I use it plugged in. But once I unplug it and it's using battery (even when fully charged), it will consistently turn off after a few minutes. Nothing has changed that I know of since this started happening. It just seemed to start doing it one day. It hasn't been dropped or anything, it hasn't even left the house. I read around a bit and saw the recommendation to update the BIOS. So I've attempted to update the BIOS via the official Lenovo support page but run into an issue and it can't complete. It has me download 4mcn33ww.exe and kicks off Insyde H20FFT (Flash Firmware Tool). The process appears to run as expected until it turns off the laptop to restart and once it boots back up with the screen black, a red message states "Warning: No Battery Connected, This process requires AC power and a charged battery to avoid accidental power-off during an update". I attached a photo of what I see. I, of course, have the laptop plugged in during this process so I'm not sure why it says that. And prior to starting the BIOS update, Windows states the laptop is, in fact, charging/plugged in.  At this point I'm stuck. The only potential fix I've found online is to update the BIOS, but I can't update the BIOS due to the AC power error it seems. Any ideas? Thanks!

Last September 2016 I bought a new Lenovo Yoga 3 PRO, I was quite happy with the battery life and the overall quality of the product. Now, 6~7 months later I still quite happy with screen, audio, materials... but not with my battery life. I give this computer use as home main driver for coding and web browsing, with some photo editing with Adobe Lightroom from time to time, nothing intensive that might heat up the computer on excess. I also try to give the computer "healthy" battery cicles, not leaving 0% battery for long periods neither leaving 100% battery plugged all the time. However, when today my battery seemed not to charge and have been experience shorter and shorter battery life over the last months, I was shocked when I saw on HWMonitor that my total battery capacity droped from 44.000 mWh to 14350 mWh. I could not believe it. Check here: That is too much battery loss for such a short period using my computer! Any idea of what I can do to fix this? About a year ago, I replaced the internal battery on my X240 running Windows 10.  For six or seven months, all went well.  Then, from time to time, I started seeing this message: What's maddening is that it doesn't happen all the time.  If the battery had developed a fault, I would expect to see this message every time I started the machine up, but it happens about 30% of the time--and exactly when varies as well.  It can be just after boot time, or it can appear after an hour or so.  On those occasions when it happens, shutting down and restarting the machine sometimes (but not always) fixes the issue.  I've  replaced the external battery (Battery 2) and never encountered this problem with that battery.  The whole thing is particularly annoying because I prefer the 3-cell external battery for size reasons. Before I go purchase yet another internal battery, does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi: I bought Yoga C930 on Jan 2019. It showed 12 hours maximum when I first open it. I updated battery firmware last night. After updated, the battery 90% showed 3 hours remaining. What happens with a new firmware? Regards,Dhatchai
