Preferred Solution: change file format

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: change file format

You need to download the codec. Even the conversion programs (which by the way take hours to work) need the codec to do what they do. I recommend the XVid codec.

Can it be done?

Some video files I have are not supported in WMP, or in WMM. I have a 3rd party media player that plays them, but it has limited editing capabilities.

If I pull the vid files through a file recovery utility, set to recover video files, in MPEG-2 format perhaps, will they recover into a format that's supported in Windows applications? Would there be quality loss of the vids in changing the format?

Welcome to SF!

You will need to extract the rar file, and create a new zip file. Use Rar Extract Frog or a similar program to extract the RAR. You can then create a new zip folder from the New menu on right-click.

Hope this helps,

I am downloading audio voice files to my computer from an Olympus DM-10 digi recorder and they are coming in as wma files.

I would prefer them to be in dss format.

I've searched the software options and cannot find a way to change the default.

I think it may be a computer default? I think I saw a flash of something like DirectX when downloading, but I can't find that software on the computer. (And even if I did, I'm not sure I would know if that is the "fix" I need or if I could figure out how to change it.)

HELP PLEEEEEASE! Thanks!

A:Audio File Default Format, Change?

Nothing to do with the computer, according to the manual (just looked at it using Google) its a matter of the recorder defaulting to DSS format in SP and LP mode recording, and WMA format in SHQ and HQ mode recording.

Have you checked the manual? Page 7

Hi everyone,

I recently accidentally formatted a hard drive. So, I quickly install a file recovery software (EaseUS Data Recovery). Then the result shows that most of SWF files are big in size. I think that lots of my files have been converted or combine with other files. So, how do I recover my files?

A:File format changed into other format after format a hard drive

This may not be the best answer, but I would recover the files first. That is you biggest concern right now. Then try to see what you need to do to fix them.

A:how to change files from firefox format to another format

The simple and obvious answer is to just change the files that you want changed and leave the others alone. But you must have something more in mind.

What is "firefox format"? To what format do you want to change? Using what tool, application or method?

I'm running RC 7100 as a Media Centre, freshly updated from Windows Update. I'm using a Hauppauge HVR2200 DVB-T tuner card to receive digital broadcasts, together with a SKY settop box. I'm testing the WTV Converter (righ-click from Windows Explorer) and I'm getting the error above on 1 of the test files, and would like to understand whether this is an error in the conversion program, or because I'm trying to put content into the dvr-ms format that simply won't fit because of the format of the digital recording.

This works:
From the SKY settop box UHF cable I have recorded a 30 minute program giving 1,707,264KB (average 948.5KB/sec), WTV Converter works fine.

This fails within 5 seconds of starting:
From the DVB-T tuner I have recorded a 75 minute program giving 7,257,068KB (average 1612.7KB/sec), WTV Converter fails with the error "WTV Converter cannot convert the file from .wtv to .dvr-ms format because the content is not compatible with the .dvr-ms format".

In the properties of each file, the only difference I could see was that the DVB-T recording said 'DTV Content=Yes' whilst from the SKY setop box it said 'DVT
Content=No'. The properties dialog allowed me to change the flag from Yes to No, but the WTV Converter still fails with the same error.

I don't believe the file is corrupt, since it plays successfully in the Windows Media Centre.

Note that the error message does not state that the failure is due to copy-protection. I was able to google ... Read more

A local business http://www.dinospizzausa.com/ wants me to add video to his web site. Problem is he brought a Panasonic VDR-D220 recorder. It records to DVD and memory chip. I can move the files with no problem to the hard drive but can't open them.

This recorder came with no software that opens this format. Now what I would like to do is not only find software (Free) that will open this format but also convert it to a format so I can play it on his website using Media Player. In the folder when downloaded to the hard drive are three files, VR_MANGR.BUP, VR_MANGR.IFO and VR_MOVIE.VRO.

Has anyone come up with software that will do this or an easy way to add these videos to a web site so they open when the web page open?

I have been using this same Excel file for many years. I viewed on my new home laptop 2 days ago, using a 2010 Excel Version. It was created on 2007.

I opened it on my work computer, version 2003, and now get the above error message on both machines. The file can no longer be opened.

I have tried emailing it, still won't open.

I have chenged the file type to both .xls and .xlxs neither open.

I downloaded the program on the home page of this site, and it said no file issues, no known problems for this file.

When I click Open File, it still shows where I had the file opened (the file name in lighter gray font - but cannot open.) The original file is in black, and I can open. But, get that message.

I also tried to open and fix - and I tried both options, with formulas, and without formulas, and all it opened was foreign characters.

Any other suggestions? Or is this file gone? Unfortunately, my most recent back up is 3-4 months old...

You don't have to change them. You just fire up your favorite CD burning application, use a CD-R, (not CD-RW) and drag-n-drop them onto an audio compilation and burn them. Presto, you have an audio CD.

Hello,
Okay I would like to know if this is possible.
I currently have several forms. I am creating a new form using the form wizard. So I click on insert->form. I go to form wizard. click ok. I add the needed fields. click next. it asks me to form with "subforms" or "linked forms". I click subforms then next. This next slide gives me four options "1 tabular" "2 database" "3 pivot table" "4 pivot chart". I want to choose 1 tabular, because it is the best for me, but I would like the layout to be slightly different. The top portion places the fields vertically across the form, and the middle portion places the records horizontally.
I would like to make the middle portion place the records vertically instead of horizontally. Is this possible?
I tried to modify it using the click and drag method, but then it would only let me access one subrecord at a time instead of all 3 subrecords.

Thank you for you time and effort.
Sincerely,
David

My currency format is displaying xxx.xxx,xx. It's really messing up my financial software (Quickbooks). I have gone into the control panel/Regional and Language Options/Customize Regional Options/Currency and found it is set up incorrectly. However, I'm unable to change the settings to xxx,xxx.xx. I don't have any choices in the dropdown lists. The separator only displays . (period) and the decimal point is , (comma). Is there some other setting I need to change in order to be able to change the currency format?

I believe that you should be able to just edit the Decimal and Digit grouping symbols. Options would presumably be offered in the drop down boxes only if you have more than one locale installed.

Evening All:

I have 2(SanDisk 32Gb) pendrives that are formatted in NTFS. This presents a problem. They are "recognized" as HDD's and thus, cannot be "ejected" in normal manner using "Safely Remove Hardware" icon. When I try
this, there is not an 'eject" to click. I believe this is because the NTFS format makes[reads] them a HDD and, of course, HDD's cannot be "ejected". So, is there a command that I could run that would change the formatting from NTFS to FAT32
without having to empty all the contents of the drives, re-format, then re-install all the data?

In particular, I go into the "Keyboard" application in Control Panel, and English (United Kingdom) is listed as the first item.

N.B. English (United States) is listed as the 2nd item in this list, and I can't remove it (I remove it from the list, but it is put back in the list when I restart the keyboard application).

Whatever I do, the keyboard layout remains the same - for example, the " and @ keys are the wrong way round.

If the image files you're unable to open were obtained via download to a folder name that includes certain special characters (for example, the symbols seen in "【Pictures】") this creates a file path that, although acceptable to the operating system, is not recognized properly by IrfanView (or other apps), yielding the somewhat misleading "Can't Read File Header, Unknown file format" message (should really say "File Not Found"). Simple solution is to rename the download folder, or move the image files to another directory with a name that's recognized properly by IrfanView. Hope this helps some who are encountering this confusing error!

Hello to everyone,

I'm trying to boot again an old installation of windows 10 that has been damaged by the miray hdclone tool that has removed the partition table but not the files. Infact with the getdataback tool I've been able to recover every file. What I did has been to reformat the disk and to copy again the recovered windows 10 files on it. The partition scheme of the disk previously was GPT,but I converted it to MBR because if it was GPT I wasn't able to make it active. After this,I have restarted the PC with the windows 10 dvd inside and I have issued the following commands on the command prompt :

bootrec /fixmbr ok

bootrec /fixboot
=> access denied

bootsect /nt60 c:
ok

bootrec /fixboot
ok

bcdedit /export c:\bcd2
The store export operation has failed.
The system has attempted to load or restore a file into the registry, but the specified file is not in a registry file format.

I don't know how to fix this...

Whenever I save something from the internet to a text file and open the file with Notepad, it will bunch up all the words and sentence into a group of words. Example:
 Notepad.JPG   52.65KB
  11 downloads

However, when I open the file in Wordpad, it will come out like this:
 Wordpad.JPG   57.71KB
  10 downloads

So I was wondering does anyone know why Notepad do this. Also my computer in a Window XP.

A:Why does Notepad change the format of it's content?

This has to do with how Notepad recognizes the end of a line. In Notepad, only a carriage-return character followed by a line-feed character is interpreted as the end-of-line marker. Other systems like Mac OS X and Linux use only the line-feed character. Whenever Notepad opens a file that uses only the line-feed character (for example, if the file was originally written on a non-Windows system) it doesn't detect a proper end-of-line marker and so interprets the text as being on a single long line.

Wordpad supports many end-of-line conventions, which is why it can display both the Windows and Mac/Linux conventions correctly. You might want to look at one of the many Notepad replacement editors available online. My favorite is Notepad++, which includes tools to convert a file between different end-of-line conventions.

Hi people, I'm new around these parts, but I'll try not to be an annoyance.

I had a client come in yesterday with a problem with MYOB displaying the wrong date format. Specifically, it displayed it in MM/DD/YYYY format, instead of DD/MM/YYYY.
Looking at MYOB support, it says it takes the Date format from the computers regional settings, and will change as you change the settings.

The machine is Windows XP SP2, it has no other errors that I've noticed. The machine is only a few months old.

We changed the regional settings, with no effect. We then went to customise the date format. If we made any chages, even selecting something from the dropdown boxes, it would say 'Invalid character' and not allow the changes. I hadnt added any characters, just selected one from the dropdown box. You'd think that they would be correct.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. I'm hoping to have the machine back in the office next week to work on it.

Welcome to Win7Forums Ghost!

It is definately not true that you have to reinstall Windows with a MOBO/Processor change. 7 is smart enough to detect the processor and use it, the only issue might be the MOBO. 7 will more than likely load a default driver for it but you may want to load the manufacture version to make sure you can use all the features of it.

Hope This Helps

All the date formats in the "R & L Options" drop-down boxes include the year, so I don't understand which WLM boxes were not showing the year or how it could be fixed by making another "R & L Options" choice that also included the year.

I'm no expert but downloaded programmes from BBC iPlayer have availability rights which is why they are made to expire after 30 days. My guess is that the format was changed in an effort to prevent people converting and saving them for longer than the 30 days. Saying that I expect someone may know of a converter that has overcome this.
