New PSU in Lenovo M58P desktop now system shuts do...

Q: New PSU in Lenovo M58P desktop now system shuts do...

Like many others recently, I picked up a Lenovo ThinkCentre M58P (7484 A14) desktop computer via eBay. It runs Windows 10. From eBay, I also bought and installed a new PSU (www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-750W-750-Watt-BLUE-LED-Quiet-Large-Gaming-Fan-SATANEW 750W 750 Watt BLUE LED Quiet Large Gaming Fan SATA ATX PowNEW 750W 750 Watt BLUE LED Quiet Large Gaming Fan SATA ATX Power Supply PSU PCIeer Supply PSU PCIe-ATX-Power-Supply-PSU-PCIe-/400646802599?hash=item5d48690ca7:g:i5sAAOSwgmJX1wGf). Since then, the computer shuts down suddenly, and increasingly frequently. As of today, it will not run at all. It starts to run, gets as far as booting the o/s, and then shuts down as though the power were cut off. I have never heard of and I never considered a compatibility problem with the power supply, which is listed as being ATX. Inside, I have this PSU powering the system board, one SATA CD/ROM drive, the SATA HDD, and an Nvidia Quadro 4000. Can an ATX power supply be incompatible, as mine apparently is? How so?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hmmm...removing the Nvidia Quadro 4000 seems to have solved the problem. Is it an issue with my card, or is the Nvidia Quadro 4000 incompatible with this motherboard? I wouldn't have thought it would be incompatible.

This is a little confusing to explain, essentially when using "Restart" the computer will hang on the second Lenovo screen during boot up. It can shut down and turn on just fine, but it seems like if it tries to boot up too quickly from being turned off it hangs. If I use "Shut down" and let it rest for 20-30 seconds it'll boot up normally. It can also "progress" when encountering this problem, if it hangs and I turn it off but don't wait long enough it can go past the second Lenovo screen and hang on a black screen with a flashing "_" in the upper left hand corner, and if I repeat that it'll move onto a black screen with the blue Windows logo but no loading circle and hang there. I hope that makes enough sense to understand. Now, it's not that big of an issue, like I said, everything else works fine. But when my computer will try to auto-restart after an update or if I'm reinstalling Windows and it needs to reboot itself then it ends up frozen and sometimes that ends up messing up the update or reinstallion. I'm not exactly the most educated with computers, but I noticed an option for Hard-Disk Pre-Delay in my BIOS and was wondering if enabling that could fix the problem, if not then any help fixing it would be appreciated. And following the pinned post:Model Number: 9965A9U System Type: x64OS: Windows 10 ProBIOS: LENOVO 5CKT63AUS (Can provide other specs if needed)

A:Lenovo Thinkcentre M58 & M58p: yes, is compatible with GT 1030

I'm a huge fan of the GT 1030, but haven't seen any posts here on it and the M58/p.   You may be the first to try it, however the GT 1030 does work with the next gen model, M90/p (and newer), and I haven't seen a case where a GT 730 worked (on systems with PCIe ver. 2.0 -- GT 730 is known to work on M58) and the GT 1030 did not (meaning it has good backward compatibility, unlike AMD graphics cards.)  That doesn't guarantee that it will work, but there's a very high probability.  I hope that helps.

Edit:  Earlier versions of the M58 and all M57 have PCIe ver 1.1.  I would not recommending using a PCIe 3.0 card (GT 1030) in a 1.1 slot (PCIe 2.0 cards like GT 730 do work in 1.1 slots.).  Check your Intel Chipset specs to see which version is supported.

Edit 2:  I'm now thinking that all M58 had version 2.0 PCIe. M58 did have 2 generations of Intel processors, but I believe the Chipset stayed the same.

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

Hello all,I have a G50-70 with windows 10, CPU i7, GPU Radeon R5 M230, RAM 16GB.My issue is that the computer shuts off ramdomly, even when it has been just turned on, I've seen the issue with people that where doing something stressfull for the CPU, but to me, it happens mostly while I'm using Fusion 360, whatching a video in Youtube, or just when the laptop is in standbay... as mentioned it happens also when it has been just turned on.I've already cleaned the Fan and all the interior of the motherboar from any kind of dust, I've performed several scannings with Antivirus and Anty Malware and it is clean, when I play it doesn't happen, but as soon as I close the game, it shuts off.this started to happen a couple of months ago, the laptop was in my backpack in my room (and it wasn't used for maybe 3 months), I took it out just to let him update, and I found out that my keyboard was not working properly (I've replaced it with an original one and now it works) and this issue appeared. before that it has never done anything worng.I've sent an email to lenovo's support but it was greatly ignored (I hope this forum doesn't do the same).

I have my Lenovo Y50-70 for a little more than a year. Six days ago I upgraded it to Windows 10 and I also installed the drivers and the newest version of the BIOS from the Lenovo website.  Then, in these past six days, the laptop shot off suddenly three times, without any warning, and by making a pop sound. I can then restart it and it works after that but this is very worrying.  When it shot off I was doing light stuff, browsing, have a couple of documents open. I also play games on it but nothing very heavy.  I looked it up and I see that others have had a similar problem but I don't find any solution. If possible, I would preffer not to send it back to Lenovo.  Does any of you know if a solution has been found to this problem? Thank you.  Paul

A:Lenovo Y50-70 shuts off without warning

Hi Paul, When the issue happened, will you need to press again the power button or computer will reboot itself? Because if it shutting down and you have to press the power button, most likely it is overheating. What I can suggest is to monitor your usage and download this application, HWMonitor.  How to check for thermal issues with HWMONITOR (Over heating) Idle ModeUtilization : 0 - 30%Temperature : 30C to 50C (Normal) - 51C to 60C (Over heating) Normal UsageUtilization : 20 - 40%Temperature : 50C to 60C (Normal) - 61C to 70C (Over heating) Heavy UsageUtilization : 50% aboveTemperature : 60C to 80C (Normal) - 81C and above If machine reaches 100C, unit will shutdown by itself to protect the CPU. Note: Desktops tend to be cooler than Laptops and AIOs. Ambient temperature may also affect minimum temperature of the machine. The below post is just a guide and is not a standard. See more here

I have a lenovo b40-70 and my mother has a similar model, ever since we got our computers we´ve both had the same problem.Every day, every couple hours, eventually the notebook will disconnect itself from our wifi, and not allow you to connect to any network until you reset it. Sometimes it takes hours before it happens, sometimes happens four times in three minutes.A while ago someone in a forum recomended messing with the power saving options of the network adapter, however I have tried multiple combinations without result. What bothers me is that it won´t reconnect to any other network once it has decided to stop the connection, it just stays there opening and closing the wifi menu and pops the message "unable to connect". We have tried enabling and desabling wifi connections, only reseting the computer works but its tiresome, I cannot download anything or watch any video longer than half and hour, it seems to get worse whenever Im doing something internet-demanding. My mother has the exact same issue with a similar model in her office, and wont happen to any other notebook in our house, so its not an issue with our internet connection.

It's not overheating, i know that.If someone knows how can i fix this, I'd appreciate the help. It's a brand new laptop that i don't even have for a week yet. Don't really want to give it in for warranty because i need it for work everyday.

After I upgraded the BIOS to v3.03 it did not hapeen anymore. It happened especially when watching YouTube videos, I also had a couple of BSOD: DPC_Watchdog_Violation or something like that. Since I upgraded the bios the issue disappeared.

Hi, I'd like to see if somebody have any idea of what's happening to my sistem: a Medion M3 Composer with Mobo: MSI Ms-7046 socket 775, P4 3.0HT, DDR-SDRAM.
It has been working flawless for about a year, two days ago, I go boot it, and the WinXP splash sceen got frozen. I powered off the PC and powered on again...Single long beep, that repeats regurarly and no video...no boot.

I tried to reset the CMOS by removing the battery. When I powered the PC back on, it shut off immediately and by itself re-powered on after 2-3 seconds doing the same long beep, no boot, no video.

I tried all kinds, removed, all devices, tried one by one the RAMs, installed another CPU, etc. all with no success.

I tried anothe MoBo, but didn't finish booting (!)...it shut off by itself after a couple of BIOS screens...maybe this motherboard is not fully compatible with the system...or faulty PSU???

Unfortunately when I put the orignal MSI MoBo, and put power, I didn't got any self-suts off...but I smelled what I shouldn't have smelled!!!

ANY HELP, CLUE???

THANKS!

A:Lenovo v570 shuts down while booting

Well since the hard drive is the only real wear item, that would surely be suspect.    Does the hard drive make any strange sounds?    If you can get into Window and open a command prompt, you can check the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive by typing the command below and pressing enter.     You can also run that command from Safe Mode (command prompt)   wmic diskdrive get status It will return a status of each drive of OK, Bad, Caution or Unknown.    If is returns anything other than OK, then your drive may be bad. You might also try removing and re-seating the RAM modules by following the steps outlined on page 45 of the user manual linked below. Lenovo V470/V570/ B470/B570/B570e User Guide V2.0https://download.lenovo.com/UserFiles/UserGuide/en/User's%20guides%20and%20manuals/B570e/Lenovo%20V4... Note:   If you cannot get Windows to boot at all, and you have not backed up your data, you may want to have it looked at by a computer shop right away, because they can remove the drive, attempt to backup your data, and replace the hard drive if needed.   If the drive is failing, the more you use (or try to repair the system) the greater the chance the drive will fail completely. Best of luck,

I've only had the AIO for about 3 weeks and about half a dozen times during that period it has just powered off and restarted while in the middle of using it. It's happened just browsing, playing a game online and even working offline on a spreadsheet. When it did it today, I opened up the Lenovo Companion app on restart and noticed the last time it did a system update scan was two minutes ago, about when it powered off. Is it possible that this was the cause? Have others seen this same issue? If this is the problem, what can I do? Rather not send it back but I shouldn't be having issues like this with a 3-week old machine. Everything else with it seems fine.

I'll try and explain this one best i can. User came to me with their Yoga 15 with an issue where it randomly shuts down on battery power, as in completely switches off.  It sometimes displays a message to say the battery cannot be detected, other times just shuts down. The conclusion I've found is that when the bottom panel is off the machine the battery is completely detected in Windows, and the Lenovo Settings app. It runs fine, never cuts off even with lots of IE instances open.As soon as I put the bottom panel back on the battery appears to be disconnected in Windows, and it also shows it not charging. Intermittently it also states the battery power is low or not detected when booting up. Found that there's a battery / system reset button on the underside that may be the cause of the issue. Pressing this button with the underside of the Laptop off resets the machine entirely, I believe it's the battery reset button incase the machine ever gets stuck at any point (as by rights it's a non-removable battery and there's a small pin hole on the case over this button). Works flawlessly without the bottom case in place, as soon as I re-connect it when the unit is on Battery power I loose the battery status in the Lenovo Settings app. The machine will then randomly shut down. Any thoughts on this one, it's the strangest thing. Many thanks all.

A:Lenovo Yoga 15 - shuts down on battery

When you put the panel back, is it touching/blocking any wires?
Have you tried to do a factory reset? If everything works fine then, try updating drivers one by one to see if it comes back.

I have Windows 10, and a Kingston sv300s37a 240gb SSD, Bios version 3.0 (its not the newest because i had issues with that but that was a while ago). Not even sure when this started as i keep it in sleep mode most of the time, i had to reboot and i noticed this. The only thing that changed was  the Nvidia driver because it updates automatically, but that updated like 3 times since this problem started.

Hope someone here can help me. My PC keeps randomly shutting down.

It behaves exactly as it would if I had held down the power button. And if I try to turn it back on too quickly, it tries to restart but dies again after about 5 seconds. If I wait about 3 minutes, then I see the blue screen with the error code : STOP Fatal Error Cx000021a and it cycles through a crash dump. Then it takes me to the screen where I can choose to ‘start windows normally’ or go through the repair process. If I wait about 15 minutes, then it will restart normally.

It feels like it started happening occasionally (about once a month) about 10 months ago, but since then the frequency has steadily increased and now it is happening more than once a day. Yesterday it shut down 6 times. I have figured out that it only happens when I am connected to the net, whether by wifi or by Ethernet. And it seems like I don’t need to be on a browser or on the web, I just need to be connected somehow.

I wondered if it was a lack of RAM issue. So a few months ago I looked up the steps to increase the HD space reserved for RAM, but that didn’t help. I have noticed though that my HD is almost full -- less than 3 GB free.

Within the past few days I have uninstalled AVG & Malwarebytes just in case (I installed Panda as my new AV), I did a Windows Update, updated Fireforx & updated my wifi driver from Lenovo. None of this helped.

Somehow I got many trojan virus's. I downloaded Malwarebytes' Anti-malware and ran it in safe mode which found 14 problems and repaired them. The system is freezing up now and then and I can't do a normal restart, just ave to shut the power off. I have Firefox and as I am playing my online game I will see te page flicker and i get a page that opens for "Home Income Wealth System". Usually after that page opens about 5 minutes later it just closes everything and goes to a black screen. I did try a system restore but no change.

So my laptop Lenovo Ideapad 110 is 1 year old. It's not that good. So it started like 5 months ago where it would randomly shut down when not connected to the charger. I think it's a problem with the battery because just recently I decided to factory reset it and when I connected my phone guess what happened, it freaking shut down. When it does that it makes a silent beep and I cant turn it on everytime it shuts unless I plug in the charger. Anything I could do to stop it without replacing the battery?

I purchased flex 3 5 months back but from few days occasionally, the screen goes black (backlight is still on)  while I'm using the computer, as the hard drive stops whirring and the computer itself seems to go to sleep. However, the power button nor the keyboard can seem to wake it up and I end up having to do a hard reset to power it back on. Oddly, the power and battery lights are still on and I can still switch on the keyboard backlight. This happens even when the battery is above 50% full. Please suggest solution for it.

Hello,Few weeks ago I had power supply outage, since then the laptop died. I decided to gamble and bought new motherboard. I?ve installed it and i get this strange problem, the laptop starts for about 2 seconds and turns off, I can hear the fan working but only black screen.I tried everything I could find on the net so far, I took off the battery off, did the same with ram stick and even replace it with a different ram stick that works on a different laptop, I also tried to drain it with long hold on the power button, but nothing. I saw some people saying it could be a problem with the new motherboard that can?t recognized the hardware or something like that (it?s the same motherboard just a new one). They say to take off the CMOS battery but for some reason, few hours of looking at the laptop parts and searching the net, I couldn?t find the CMOS location.Anyone have any idea on what could happen and what can be done apart from what I?ve already tried? Cheers

Hi! I got a Lenovo ThinkPad for Christmas 8 months ago, and when I got it, I started setting it up, you know setting up my profile and whatnot. I made a profile and started installing games and all that kind of stuff, so after I did all that, I unplugged it cause I wanted to put it away into the case because I had somewhere to be the next morning, so I wanted to put it away early to get it over with. Anyway, when I unplugged it that first night, I expected the battery to just start slowly draining, like all laptops do, but instead the laptop just INSTANTLY shut down, just poof, black screen, so I started it up unplugged, and it drained very quickly. At first, I thought maybe it was because the battery wasn't charged up, but it was still odd how it just shut off instantly when it was unplugged. I thought it was odd, but put it in the case anyway and went to bed. I used it for a few days, plugged in at all times, however one day, I was playing a game, and the computer accidentally got unplugged, I don't remember how being it was about 7 or 8 months ago, but anyway like I said it was accidentally unplugged and once again, POOF black screen. This time I was very irritated cause I had to restart everything I had done in my game in that session. Before the computer was unplugged I hovered over the charging icon, and seen it was at 100%, so I was very confused now cause it should have kept going even after it was unplugged, because since it is at 100% it would only make se... I have had my Lenovo Y50-70 for little over a year (so it is out of warranty) and just recently I have been having an issue with my screen turning off if it is adjusted or tapped. It will turn off if the screen is moved or sometimes when I am adjusting the laptop or moving it. The system stays on it and it is just the display that shuts off. If I hibernate the computer and turn it back on without moving the screen, it begins to work again. Oddly enough, this only happens about 60% of the time even if I try to make it happen. This seems to be a hardware issue but I am not too tech savvy so any advice would be very helpful.  Thanks!
