I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

After a round of Windows updates, I went to turn on my laptop and recieved the "Primary internal battery (601)" error.  After this screen, however, Windows would not load.  I have tried taking the battery out and 'draining the charge',  and starting up the computer plugged directly to AC with no battery.  Windows still does not load.  The start-up test in the diagnostics menu said the battery needed calibration, however when I go to run the battery test, it gets to "waiting for battery to charge" and exits out of the test without giving me any results at all.  Currently when turning on the computer I no longer get the "primary internal battery" error, it just goes directly to a black screen with blinking cursor.  Any help is appreciated, I'm completely at a loss here!

Hello, first all the facts: Model: Pavilion TS 11Year bought: 2013product Number: E2V68EA#ABDBattery test result: primary battery failed - replace (42)Error code: 0GF2MR - 6MW8H9 - XD7WXF - C0A503 The problem: I have noticed the very first time the battery did not fully charge up to 100% app. 1 1/2 years ago. Then it always stayed at about 75%. I made several battery tests, yet everything seemed to be fine. Two days ago, I noticed the battery was down to 7% - not charging even though it should be. I run some battery tests again and the error stated above suddenly came up. The HP battery test via the support center sated everything was okay, yet as I googled the primary battery failed message, I kind of got alarmed.  There is no warranty left and the touchscreen had to be disabled a couple of months ago, because it was not working properly as well. I hope for advises - does it actually make sense to try to repair it? Can this problem be repaired - as far as I understand, the primary battery means changing the removable battery won't help at all? Best wishes,Kristina

I recently bought a new battery for my HP Probook 450 G0, and i would like to check if this battery falls under battery replacement program announced by HP recently just to be safe. More details here - https://h30686.www3.hp.com/ But there are several problems. When i tried to execute HPBRCULauncher.exe (aka the automatic way to check the battery) it could not finish successfully and said something like "Unknown battery found. Unable to tell whether or not this battery falls under battery recall programm"   Sorry for russian. I couldn't change the language of this program.Plus i can't manually check the battery because CT number which is printed on the battery, was partially sealed by "very smart" seller with his own warranty badge. The only part of the number i can see is "CT:6BCM..." HP support assistant was unable to detect CT battery number and displays CT Number: N/A. So is there any other way to find this CT number? Thanks!

Hi,See if you can get it from BIOS setup:Tap f10 or ESC key as soon as you power on laptop with battery. No other way of finding it, other than uninstalling and reinstalling HP support assistant, then see battery details :http://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/pl...RegardsVisruth

A:How do I fix a an internal Primary battery problem on my lap...

Hi, The error message you receive at boot and the description of the issue both confirm that your notebooks main Lithium Ion battery needs to be replaced ( not the cell on the system board as the message tends to indicate ).  The Primary (internal) Battery (601) error indicates that the storage capacity of the main battery has fallen below 25% of its original capacity. Further information on this can be found in the following HP Document. http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01443470 Regards, DP-K

After my friend's laptop wouldn't run on battery power OR charge the battery I tried many "fixes."

Shockingly none worked that I found.

Only one thing worked for me to my surprise.

A last ditch effort was to open up the laptop (sony pcg-81114L) and disconnect the cmos battery for a few minutes to reset the CMOS.

To my surprise, when powered on, the battery instantly showed it was charging AND when removing the power plug the battery POWERS the laptop now! (and I'd thought I was wasting my time.)

Worked with an off brand battery also.

Many times this has saved many computers that have odd "unsolvable" things wrong with them.

Surely someone else has done this also but I haven't seen it posted anywhere to my knowledge.

Thank GOD for bringing the idea to remembrance!

It's so strange. Today when I turned on my laptop, suddenly, there was a message that my battery has problems so the computer might shut down suddenly. I tried different strategies, like uninstalling the battery driver, or letting the computer completely die. When it turned off itself at 6%, I turned it back on, and it was at 2 minutes battery life. Then in a few minutes, it said 4 minutes battery life for 6%. Now, it's passed an hour, and it says 3 minutes, but changes sometimes to 1-4 minutes. The battery meter is completely wrong, and I don't know what to do since it is closing the computer way too early. I'm still not sure what the problem is. Please help me.

Until one day the charger stopped charging on and off. I unplugged it a few times and then it stopped working. I let the battery die after. I am guessing that it stopped working because i may have screwed up the charger socket by tripping on the cord thus pulling on it im not really sure anymore. The laptop is in a bad condition, it's four years old i think but it can still run. The battery is the same not change. HELP ME for I am an *****

Hey, I really need help. I'm having problems with my laptop. It's a dell inspiron 7559 and was bought around January. Recently I have seen that the battery has no longer been as hot as it used to be when I first started using it. Along with the sleeve on the tip of the screen power adapter (below the part where the adapter lights up) has started to come off, exposing the wires. The battery has continually dropped down its percentage rate ever since I bought it, and it won't go back up. It is currently at 0% battery life and it says when you highlight over the battery icon ( plugged in, not charging). It also happens to show the BIO setup when I start the computer and shows that the batteries wattage and type cannot be determined. In the BIOS setup, the ac adapter type is unknown. The battery has not been through any harsh conditions along with the laptop. I have tried removing the battery, starting up the computer with the ac adapter (which is 130 watts), then adding the battery back, and ac adapter, then turning it on, but it had no effects. If I remove my ac adapter while my computer is on ,it instantly turns off. If someone can support me with this issue, it would be gladly appreciated. Thanks.

It sounds likely the charge circuit on the mainboard is damaged.  Contact Dell to have the mainboard replaced under warranty.

Hello everyone! Not sure if this is an issue but it's surely annoying to know, that battery N1 drains at 5% and the other stays at 100%. Is it possible for a mixed discharge between both batteries ?After all the LIFE of the first battery (while using battery only power) is shortened a lot! Is there any option in LENOVO VANTIGE that I am no aware of ?I looked everywhere and i can't find anything.. Bios latest update 1.30 Thank you very much!

A:T470s BATTERY 1 drains to 5%, BATTERY 2 stays at 100% (BATTERY PRIORITY)

Sorry  but see below post.  Basically you cant set discharge order.  The laptop checks battery wear and bases discharge order on that.  Many people including myself have asked for a BIOS switch or at least an option on discharge order but nothing has happened so far and I dont think its going to happen either.  I do not speak for Lenovo..

Hi guys. I have a T470 and after the latest Windows update I encountered a battery naming issue. Before the update batteries had proper order and were named accordingly: battery 1, battery 2, no surprises here. But after the update I noticed the order has changed to battery 0, battery 1 (attached pic below) Yeah yeah, I understand arrays start at zero but what is that? I was just wondering is it just me or you guys have the same situation going on with your batteries? Is there a way to change the order back to "normal"? .

I got the same error, but a different Failure ID, and product ID. Failure ID: 608830-5Q987P-QFPH4K-C0FH03Product ID: A6S16UA#ABA I've had battery issues since the install of the Windows 10 update.ie: if you unplug the cord the system shuts down and does not run on battery power. It did not do this the day before when I was allowing the update to run...on the battery power! I have the HP Pavilion dv7-6b63us Thanks! Oh...and tried the BIOS date and time deal from the previous post...the date and time were both correct.

A:Re: battery check: primary-replace(40)

Hi @unicornsplay, Thank you for the inquiry. I hope you had a terrific weekend!    I grasp that you have verified the date and time are correct in the BIOS.However you got a different failure code, though. This error code is referring to the battery. What were the results when you tested and calibrated the battery. You could also try this step as it is possible that the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery, which is basically the driver that communicates between the computer and the battery has become corrupted. Step 1. Go to Device Manager.Step 2. Select Batteries.Step 3. Right click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there.Step 4. Click Uninstall.Step 5. At the prompt put a check in the box to remove the current driver.Step 6. Shutdown the computer.Step 7: Remove the battery for a minute and then put it back in.When the computer comes back up it should automatically find the driver.Step 8. Go to Device Manager.Step 9. Select Batteries.Step 10. Right click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there.Step 11. Click "Search automatically for updated driver software". Do the same thing with Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller. Please let me know the outcome.

Hi @Marg44,  First and foremost, I want to welcome you to the HP Support Forums! Here at the forums, you have many community members that will help you toward a solution. If my reply resolves your issue or answer your question(s), please click the Accept as Solution button to allow others to find the solution.  Generally speaking, if "Primary (internal) Battery (601)" appears in an alert message, it means the measured storage capacity of the primary battery is less than 25% of the original storage capacity. The number ?601? denotes the associated error code that is recorded in the system log. The best way to check and see if the Battery error is accurate would be to update the Notebook's BIOS and then test the battery again using the Battery Test in the System Diagnostics (F2) environment. Here are the steps for the HP System Diagnostic Battery Test from the Testing and Calibrating the Battery (Windows 7) document:  To access the HP System Diagnostics Battery Test:Unplug the power cord and turn off the computer.Press the power button to turn on the computer.Immediately press the Esc key and press it repeatedly while the computer starts. The Start Up menu opens.Press F2 to select F2 System Diagnostics.Click Battery Test from the list of Hardware Diagnostic options.Plug in the power cord (if not already done).Click Start Batter... Is the warning for the PRIMARY battery or for the CMOS battery?Battery's can poop out on you even if they are new.Should be nothing more than a warranty replacement for the primary, as for the CMOS, best to send it in to have that done under warranty.Soooo, if the primary battery is out of the laptop, and you plug in the AC, do you still get the FAIL prompt?AND....Do the HP BATTERY CHECK from the HP ADVISOR program.

Now, my laptop only manages to run on battery for about 1 hour or so with battery saving setting turned on. What happened to my battery? How could it have worn of so fast. My laptop is 1.5 years old. Sometimes i forget to take out the battery when it is fully charged, how ever, battery never gets hot, so, as I know, it should not wear of that fast, especially in ~1 month period...

A:2h of battery just disappeared...

It sounds like the battery is starting to fail. Sometimes, a cell or a few cells go bad, and that drastically reduces the capacity of the battery.

Since a few weeks my battery indicator is gone in de the lower taskbar. I ticked all the boxes in the Configuration screne but still no pic.

I am not sure in which category this applies, so I apologize if this is not the correct location...

I am working on an HP G62 with a couple of issues.

First is that I keep getting a "Primary (internal) Battery (601)" message at boot up. I replaced the CR2032 CMOS battery - which tests good under load, by the way - and tried to run the battery calibration under System Diagnostics (which I didn't really think applied to the CMOS battery anyway, but HP says it does so...) but I still get the same message. I also cleaned the battery contacts with a fiberglass brush. When I did the battery calibration, it just hung. That was on AC, so I tried it on battery and the laptop died after a couple of minutes - leading me to believe that the SECONDARY (EXTERNAL) battery is the battery that is bad, despite the laptops insistence that it's the primary battery...

Second problem is that when I try to boot to windows "normally" it goes through the "starting windows" screen but then very QUICKLY flashes a blue screen and reboots. When I try to boot into the System Recovery software, it boots up to a blue-background screen with a mouse icon that I can move but the recovery software never loads, regardless of how long I let it set.

Any ideas on either issue would be ever so greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.

A:Primary (internal) Battery (601) + System Restore Fails

I'm not familiar with laptops that have both primary and secondary batteries connected (with most laptops you need to physically replace the depleted battery with the spare). Why do you think that it is really the secondary battery? Wouldn't the error code be 602 instead of 601? If both batteries are the same you could switch them and see what happens.

Can you get into the BIOS and check to see if it is detecting the hard drive? If so, run any disk diagnostic that the BIOS may have.

Hi Everyone, I know I am not the first person to post about this problem, but I could really use some help. Look, I have been pulling my hair out to get some answers and to be frank I'm getting kinda irratated with all the runaround. My computer no longer recognizes my battery. There has not been any sort of damage to the computer, and my father ( a computer programmer) and I have done everything suggested in this forum and anything we could think of to fix this problem with no success. I really just need a new battery. I'm really not comfortable opening the laptop ourselves to get the part number. I have been give a number for hardware support, but they want to charge me $60 to help. I really don't feel like dropping that kind of money for a person to tell me a part number. I've looked online for replacement batteries and trying to find a battery for computer model seems to be impossible. Is there anyone who can help me? I've only had this computer for 7 months and of course stuff only happens after my warranty expires lol. Thanks, Zach

The battery icon at the bottom right of my screen diappeared and is apparently "inactive." It happened after a reboot i believe. I go into the settings and set it to "always display icon and notifications" or whatever for the battery/power icon, but it says "this icon is inactive and will display when it becomes active" or something along those lines. why is this?

A:Battery Icon Disappeared

Hello PittPens, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Sometimes restarting the computer will resolve this. If not, then this may be able to help enable the Power (battery) system icon to have it show up again.

Hope this helps,

Just started my laptop up & the Battery Icon has gone from the system tray. I have tried to right click on the area & under the notification tab looked for the tick box but it is there but won't let me tick it.
I have done a search on the troubleshoot & states that i have to have system administrator rights, i am!!!
How do i get the icon in the notification area?
I'm running windows Vista on an Acer aspire 5051, any help needed is much appreciated.

Mine does that too sometimes. Generally, if you really want/need that icon, just restart. Should pop back into place.

A:Battery icon Disappeared

To fix and restore the missing system icons in Vista notification area or system tray, right click on the black/empty space on the system tray itself, or on the taskbar. In the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog window that appears, click on Notification Area tab if it’s not already there.
In the System Icons section, tick the check box for Clock, Volume, Network or Power components to display the corresponding icons in system tray.
does that not work ??

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525, and recently I noticed that the battery meter in bottom right corner (task bar) has disappeared. Does anyone know how I can get it back? Thank you

A:Battery Meter Disappeared

this may just work

hi i have an inspiron 1300 and had the same problem

firstly try going into control panel then through the power options and check always show icon, if its already checked, uncheck and then recheck it then hit apply, hopefully that might work for you.. it didnt for me.
if that doesnt work try rightclicking the system tray(where the date and time is) go into properties and make sure the battery icon is on 'always show'.
if that still doesnt work have a look in device manager, see if there is a seperate catagory for 'batteries' if there isnt then you will most likely have to reformat and reinstall windows.... this is what i had to do after spending about 3 weeks looking around on various websites for help.

hope this helped.
