1 second delay in typing on yahoo messenger

Q: 1 second delay in typing on yahoo messenger

Hi all -

What a pain! Recently I've started having a problem where each time I type a character there is a one second delay before it appears on my Yahoo Messenger window. Logging in and chatting takes forever.

I downloaded trillian and same problem.

I ran Spybot, Microsoft AntiSpyware, AdAware, HijackThis and tons of others. Cleaned up but to no avail. Here's my HijackThis log. Any advice?

Preferred Solution: 1 second delay in typing on yahoo messenger

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

So it may just be a coincidence. I just installed Windows 10 on my PC. And now when I try to type in yahoo mail it only lets me type one letter at a time. Then I get this twirling blue icon indicating it is working on adding that ONE letter to the message. I have never had this problem before.

Has anyone else had this problem. And if so, how might I get yahoo mail to accept letters typed as I type them?

Hello,
I have an odd issue with one of the computers in my organization. The user has an HP Pavilion DV6000 series laptop with Vista 32 Home Premium. Occasionally if he is sending a message through Yahoo Messenger, after tabbing from another window, instead of typing his intended message, Yahoo Messenger shows a keyboard layout sequence. For example, if he intends to type "Thank you", it shows "Asdfj Kl;"

The only fix (temporary), is to tab to another program such as Outlook, compose an email message (characters show properly there)., then tab back to Yahoo Messenger and type away. This happens both with external Logitech cordless keyboard and the built in keyboard on the laptop. I have tried removing Yahoo Messenger and reinstalling, checked language settings on keyboard in control panel, uninstalled/reinstalled Logitech driver, replaced batteries in laptop.

Anyone ever seen this before? I'm stumped, and google searches for problem almost always lead to a stuck shift or ALT key, which is not the case here.

Thanks in advance!

A:Strange issue typing in Yahoo Messenger

Remember that even when using an external keyboard the original one is still effectively connected and working.

At a guess I would start to blame the laptop keyboard, or at leat the connection to it.

A real odd problem though.

This happens quite often and usually a reboot fixes the problem but I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue.

Once my laptop has been running for a while (day or two) I will notice that when I am pounding away at the keyboard typing there will be a delay until the characters actually show up. Sometimes I am 8-10 characters ahead of what is being displayed on the screen. It makes it real hard to understand if I have typed the correct letter/characters sometimes. If I go to tap the Backspace key a few times to delete it's delayed as well.

When I reboot the problem is gone. Very strange problem and I am sure it's a bug or something that causes a memory leak of some sort somewhere. Call me crazy... LOL!

Anybody else experience this?

I'm curious as to whether yer keyboard is a USB one. Could be the USB port is underpowered or something. You could try plugging your keyboard into another port (if it is USB). Do not plug it into a USB hub. Try plugging it directly into one of the rear ports on your computer.

Has anybody experienced a typing delay from the time you type the words to the time it appears on the screen? This has occured on my new laptop. Never a problem on my 2 yr old Sony desktop (Windows XP Media Center) or Sony laptop (Windows 98SE).

No, but i can probably tell you that the problem is the 1.60GHz processor. You will probably need atleast 1.80GHz to 2.00GHz clock speed.

Hello everyone ! I have a slight problem with my wifes typing on web pages and that seems to be the only place it takes place does not happen in word or any other software installed just the world wide web. she is using IE 8 due to the fact she will not let me upgrade here system from XP so anyway whenever she starts hammering away over there in he corner the text input on the web page does not keep up with her input on the key board. She has to stop for 2 to 4 seconds and wait for her typing to appear on the screen . Have not had the chance to disable all add ons yet as she always seems to be there when I have a chance to work on her system. I have though run several virus scans and malware scans and so forth and so on but nothing really showing up to amount to anything. Everything goes in fine in word and whatever else she uses just seems to be the web . I hope I have been clear enough to explain the situation so if more info is needed I will do my best to offer and continue to research on.

I am a Wikpedia editor and about a year and a half ago I encountered a problem where when I type something in the edit box, it would take a second before the words actually appeared on the screen. This only happens in wikpedia. So I scanned with Malwarebytes and got a malware and quarantined it. After that the issue was gone. About a week ago the problem came back. But I don't know if it's malware again, because Malwarebytes and Avast couldn't catch it. Please help me get rid of this annoying problem.

I recently purchased a Lenovo y50 with the following specs:
Intel Core i7-4720HQ 2.6 GHz Processor
16 GB DDR3 RAM
256 GB Solid-State Drive
15.6-Inch Screen; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M Graphics; Intel HD Graphics 4600
Windows 8.1

Randomly while I use the laptop, I get an odd typing and deleting delay. When deleting a line of text, it goes realllllly slow. When I type quickly, there is a noticeable delay as well.

This lag doesnt happen always but once it starts, i usually have to restart my pc to get it to stop. Is there something wrong with the intel driver? or what i have no idea!!

Thank you for any insight/suggestions

A:Typing lag/delay mystery WTF?

Hi use Clean boot,
Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup
Click Start and type in the search box,
msconfig
Click on the suggestion on top or hit the Enter key,
Go to the Startup section and take some screen shots for a complete list,
Go to the Services section and on the bottom left Check the box to Hide All Microsoft services,
Repeat the screen shots,
See the links above my signature on how to take and upload screen shots here,
Cheers.

Yahoo Messenger 9 version 9.0.0.2034, yahoo.co.in e-mail, Yahoo answers, etc. do not run/open on my PC. On attempting to log into Messenger 9 I get an error message: “Please click Try Again to re-enter your ID and password. If you have forgotten you ID or password, click Sign-in Problems”.

Earlier they would open only if they were the first programs I switched on when I would start my PC else I would get an error message “Messenger encountered a connection problem. Please check the network connection and then click "Try Again" (81003004)”.

My computer system: AMD 64 3200+ 2.01Ghz, 1 GB RAM, 80 GB HDD, Windows Professional XP-2, IE 6 with Cookies Enabled, MS Office 2003, BSNL Broadband, Java (TM) 6 update 11, Java (TM) 6 update 7, no Startup programs other than AVG Free version 8. I am based in India.

I have checked with those using the same broadband connection as to not facing any problem with Yahoo.

Yahoo FT Server and Yahoo! Messenger are provided as exceptions in my Windows Firewall. In IE6 under Security Sites I have not blocked any website.

Where could the problem be?

A:Yahoo Messenger 9, Yahoo email, Yahoo sites not opening on Windows XP2, IE6

Hello there, this problem is not extremely important, so by all means, if someone else needs to be helped first, no problem.

When I open firefox 3 or the IE Explorer, and I procede to type in the search bar of any search engine or just the address bar there is a slight delay in when I type to when the typed shows up on the screen. Just wanted to know if there is any remedy to this situation.

Steps I have taken....

1. I have just rebounded from a devistating virus attack. Thanks to your forums and Simon I was able to get things cleaned up.

2. I am using clamwin as anti virus

3. I am always scanning my pc for malwar via spybot, ad aware and other such programs as well.

If you need a greater detail for what I have done in reguards to the virus there is probably a way you can link to my other posts in the other forum.

Let me know, and thanks again in advance.

I just got this HP Pavilion x360 (the convertible laptop/tablet) last week, and I've been having troubles with the keyboard. On certain websites, such as this one, there is no typing delay. However, on Facebook, Facebook Messenger, and Word Online, the characters I'm typing DO NOT appear on the screen at the same time that I'm typing them. It either freezes for a second and then quickly inputs all of what I've typed, or it just takes a few seconds longer for each key I press to show up on the screen. I've checeked to make sure Filterkeys isn't enabled and that no extensions are running in the browser. This happens in both Microsoft Edge and Chrome. P.S. when I was registering for an HP support account, I just realized that the @ key and the " are switched. So shift+2 gives me an ", and shift+" gives me an @ sign. Please help! I really like the computer other than this horrible typing lag.

Check task manager to see what % your CPU is running. You may have some malware or failty software that is occupying almost all the CPU time.

This only happens on a few websites, like ebay and some shopping sites. I found a post from a person who was experiencing the same problems and tried to follow the same fix, however my "Hijack This" log does not look the same. Just started having problems with my internet access yesterday. Coincidentally (or not), I also downloaded software from the partypoker.net site the same day. I'm guessing that is what is causing the trouble. When I type, there is a significant delay and sometimes the keystrokes don't appear at all. I've gone through each step in the "Preparation Guide for use before posting a HijackThis Log" and the problem has improved but still seems present. I'd be very grateful for any help in solving the problem. When I restart or turn on my lap top after it's been off for a while it will only give me my background picture. No icons, no start menu at the bottom, nothing. Until I try to run a new task from the task manager (CTRL-ALT-DEL is the only keystroke-type command I know) Then everything starts appearing as if nothing was wrong. When I type online there is a huge delay between when I push the buttons and when they appear on the screen. My virus scans show nothing is wrong. (I use trend-mirco's firewall and virus scanning products and also use firefox and I don't know if trend-micro only works on internet explorer or not...) I tried defragmenting to try and speed up the typing ting but it did no good... I don't know what is wrong but I do know that I can't get the updates from the updates.microsort.com website even though they are in the trusted websites thing in internet explorer (which is what I used to try and get the updates because you can't get them through firefox) and every time I open the computer (even from stand-by) I get a message from trend micro telling me it is stopping unauthorized changes and that change is some sort of "program Library Injection" that has to be blocked about a hundred times in a minute for the first 2 to 5 minutes of the computer being on. Hi all.

I come now with a new problem. I pretended for some time I did not care, but that is now making me pull the hair from my head.

I installed something (which I did not pay attention to at that time and I don't remember what it was) and too many other programs after that (programs I constantly use, and therefore I don't want to get rid of). If I roll back my computer to an earlier time to dismiss this problem, I would be uninstalling all those valuable programs I am talking about.

Since the first installation, when I select in excel (using the mouse), when I am typing in Word, Internet or whatever other program, things stop working. There is a delay in response. I type, but I don't see what is just typed on the screen, because the computer freezes undexpectedly, and then it comes with the whole thing at once. In the meantime, I could have made a mistake in typing, but because I couldn't see it right away on the screen, I cannot be sure if I made it, and have to wait until the computer 'defreezes' back and keeps working along.
The delay doesn't last too long, but it's frequent and recurrent. So it's always there. It is a pain in the neck, and I am being very decent to say it.

It is not the Ram, because I have plenty of it. It is not the speed of the chip, because my computer is not old. It is not a wrong installation of the programs I installed because everything works fine at the end. It is just that freaking delay that re... Read more

When I input something with my keyboard, the touchpad/trackpoint doesn't accept any clicking for about ~0.5 seconds. Its a small delay but it is driving me insane. T460 laptop, Synaptics Clickpad V1.1 Things I've tried:-  Reinstalling drivers, and restarting laptop. Nothing changed.-  Turned palm rejection to minimum. This fixes an earlier problem where the mouse would stop moving with keyboard presses, but it doesn't affect the clicking delay.-  Went into the registry editor, found 'synaptics' under 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE' but couldn't find any variables that indicate a delay after keyboard presses. I'd really appreciate any help with this. ~3 hours of googling isn't helping me. I found this site through fixing a problem - namely that a registry entry showed up in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\CurrentVersion\WindowsNT\drivers32 . Removing this key and the file fixed that problem but another has showed up in the aftermath. This may or may not be related to the problem but it all started at about the same time.

Now whenever I run Yahoo Messenger and open a chat window the part of the window that would display messages will not paint. No messages show up in it and moving the window around simply moves whatever image was showing through when it was opened. Closing the window results in a crash:

[codebox]AppName: yahoom~1.exe AppVer: 9.0.0.2152 ModName: unknownModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 0ebb1e21[/codebox]

Windows Messenger (which I never use but thought I'd try now) crashes when it is trying to set up the passport account. It generates no error message that I can see.

In an attempt to fix the problem I have -
uninstalled YIM. Deleted the program files directory. Removed the registry entries for HKCU and HKLM.
reinstalled YIM v9.
uninstalled YIM. Deleted everything as above.

The biggest problem is that this new version does not allow one to go back to an earlier version. I have another yahoo account also where i luckily did not upgade to the new version. Here yahoo messenger easily opens in Yahoo Mail.

My computer runs on Windows XP Home plus Service Pack 1 + 2. Windows Messenger version: 4.7.
Often, when I open Outlook Epxress (version 6), Windows Messenger is loaded although Outlook Express should not log on automatically on Windows Messenger (corresponding option box is unchecked) and Windows Messenger is set so as not to run or load automatically when the computer boots.
I want to disable it (in Outlook Express), but as a consequence Outlook Express may take a very long time to open. I found a tool to disable Windows Messenger but I am not sure if it can prevent a possible delay in Outlook Express:
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_mess_disable.htm
Also, I don't wish to change the registry manually, as it can cause serious problems...
Renaming or moving the Windows Messenger folder does not work - it is protected, and I can't removed the protection.

Is the tool above worth running?

Hi Tech Support Guy Forums,

I have a very annoying problem. I am using Yahoo Messenger, have been for some time. A couple weeks ago I noticed that I ran into latency issues, meaning I would receive no incoming messages for 5 minutes, then I'd receive them all at once. Gradually the problem got so bad I have to restart Yahoo Messenger every 5-10 minutes.

Now, this problem does not affect web browsing, e-mail downloading, or any other web application. I checked my Networking under the Task Manager and it goes to 0% network utilization when Yahoo Messenger stops delivering messages. However if I then instruct my computer to visit "Tech Support Guy webpage" it loads instantly and my network utilization spikes up.

I also notice that Yahoo Messenger is taking over an increasing amount of memory - it is up to 50k memory usage according to Task Manager, whereas before it was around 20k.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it hasn't worked. Any other suggestions?

Oh and PS: Ran AntiVirus and didn't detect anything.

Hey everyone!
I want to choose between Yahoo messenger and MSN messenger. I know they can hold both MSN and Yahoo contacts. Please tell me which you think I should keep and why.

Thanks for your time!

A:Yahoo Messenger VS. MSN Messenger

personal opinion ... MSN messenger, but thats only because more people I know use it. I use Trillian to connect to yahoo, ICQ and AIM.

as a side note, I've been having a lot of trouble sending messages to contacts using yahoo from MSN (although theirs seem to get to me ok)

Have messenger on XP computer, using netscape browser, working fine last Wed., then I can't sign in on Thurs., uninstalled program, installed program, no go. Nothing changed in the computer to cause this. I have checked the proxy connections, and all seems to be fine, like it was before.
Can someone help me?
Thanks, SB
