Solved: How Do I Put Saved Pictures Back in My Pictures Folder?

Q: Solved: How Do I Put Saved Pictures Back in My Pictures Folder?

I formatted my drive after I saved my favorites and my pictures to CD. Formatting cleared up the problem of two dial up connections. I tried everything on that. The duplicate connection is no more. Finally! Anyway, back to why I am posting again. I want to put the pictures that I saved from the My Pictures folder back to the My Pictures folder. I have set one of them as the new desktop background. (It was before the format). I have looked in Help and Support, but I can't seem to find anything. I have typed in "Export Pictures from CD to My Pictures folder" without the quotes and I get a list of links pertaining to CD recording errors and other things like that. I did right click on a picture in Drive E (my CD-RW) just to see what would come up and I noticed that on the Send To menu that these pictures can be sent to the desktop. Is this what I should do then? Send them to the desktop and open them and send them from here to the My Pictures folder? It can't be that easy, can it? Let me hear from anybody.

Preferred Solution: Solved: How Do I Put Saved Pictures Back in My Pictures Folder?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I accidentally saved about 100 pictures on my desktop as shortcuts. I didn't import them because I had a 4GB CF card in and it would import all of them everytime lately. I checked the folder and saw the pictures there and deleted the pictures and reformatted my CF card. I am unable to find the pictures anywhere I have Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit operating system. I can't open the pictures because there is no file associated with them. Is there any way to change the desktop shortcut picture to a file I can access? I might be able to try file recovery software but because I reformatted I'm not sure it would work and I only want to get the last 100 pictures back? Thank you for your help, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

A:Solved: Pictures saved as shortcuts on desktop

Shortcuts contain no file information so you can't get pictures from them.

But if you haven't overwritten the files on the camera, they are still there. Try PhotoRec.

Here's a strange one.....

All the pictures and folders from the 'My Pictures' folder are missing. I checked my recycle bin but they are not there. There is one folder in there of some stock photos (about 1 GB), but everything else is gone.

At the moment I am running Recuva, but it is taking some time. Any ideas on what may have happened?

I'm stumped.....it has to be something simple and obviously something I did!

All the pictures in my Pictures folder have disappeared, leaving behind a bunch of empty folders. I did not delete them, and I have no viruses according to AVG. It appears that this happened to a few others on this forum, but no solutions were presented.

If it helps - I noticed that the Read Only button was checked on the main folder, so I unchecked it, and I watched the status window un-apply "read only" protection from all my actual pictures files, so it seems to me that they're still there but invisible.

I performed a system restore, and Recova is in the process of performing a "Deep Scan" for my pictures (the quicker scan did not find the files). Has anyone solved the problem of the disappearing pictures? Is this a Vista problem, or perhaps a problem with an update? Any help would be appreciated!

A:Pictures disappeared from Pictures folder!

Read only shouldn't have anything to do with it. Have you checked the Recycle Bin and AVG's quarantine? Is the Hidden attribute cleared? Have you installed any new programs or updates?

Was having problems with virtual memory and computer coming to a complete stop due to downloading a Norton upgrade. My computer tech suggested backing up everything on my computer and reloading Windows XP Home Edition. He backed up what he thought was everything on my computer that was under my user name and reloaded my computer but my pictures in my Kodak pictures file were not under my user name; therefore, all of my pictures are gone. The tech has now transferred everything on my computer over to his computer and is now trying to find the pictures. Anyone have any suggestions on how to retrieve the pictures? Has anyone ever had to send the computer to a lab to get info retrieved and how much does it cost? Thanks for your help!

This could be one for the books,

Last night when I went to look at the Pictures folder in My Documents there was a folder of pictures and six other pictures in my folder that no one, not me, nor anyone else downloaded to the computer. All of them are JPG files and we have friends who have e-mailed pictures to us.

However, in my fifteen years of computer experience I know that I would personally have to download those photos to mu computer in order for them to be viewed. A family member has posted unrelated pictures on E-bay. We are trying to think and there were no e-mails opened, no photos looked at, nothing between the time that this happened, (Last Night.) Because a family friend who is into photography sent nature pictures through E-Mail, I just assumed it was from him and said, "Oh, I put those pictures that you downloaded last night in a folder, and the other computer user in my family said, "What pictures?"

I don't use Photo Sharing of any kind, My Avast Anti-Virus log shows now threats. All of the pictures are OLD. BUT here is the interesting thing, of the photo specs of them so far that I can see, they were taken by a person who has the SAME type of camera that we use on this computer. BUT we just got the camera last year and no one else has used it. The dates on those pictures go back from 2000-2003.

There is no evidence of anyone using any photo sharing application software. The computer runs as well as as ever. Any ideas?

A:Mysterious Pictures Showed Up in My "My Pictures" Folder

Do a search by date for the dates a day before and a day after the picture date. Maybe those ppictures were attached to some album or video show viewed recently and automaticly posted to MY PICTURED folder. Or perhaps the person who did email you mistakenly included some pictures, maybe even by forwarding an olld email from the picture taker.

This has happened before. In fact, it's always happening. Some folders will properly update their folder picture accordingly, while others refuse to do so.

Anyways, I have a bunch of different folders where I store my music. Be it Games, Movies or whatever it may be. I've recently changed the tag and image on the entirety of mp3 files on several folders. Some folders managed to update the preview picture, while others didn't. The old images from the old mp3 files are still on display, no matter what I do. I even tried deleting everything inside one of the folders, but it's still displaying the images associated with the mp3 files that are no longer there. Go figure.

I'm clueless as to what's causing this as well as to how to fix it. Could someone help?

I'm hoping someone out there can save me.

I went to open my main Pictures folder and nothing happened. I right clicked the link and the Properties tab was blank. I used the Shell: My Pictures command to restore the folder but the contents are gone.

I've no idea how the contents can have disappeared.

The 'data usage' in My Computer shows that these folders are no longer on C: or D: (my harddrive is partitioned).

Any suggestions as to how I can try to restore the pictures?

I did briefly run DataRecovery software, and it looked like it could locate all the files, but I have about 10,000 photos and I would like to be able to restore them in the folders they were in originally if possible, rather than one huge list of files.

I do lots of deleting of unwanted pics within the folders so presumably if I restored everything I would end up will all the ones I had selectively deleted in the past too. (better than nothing, I know).

Any tips or suggestions about what I should do would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks everyone

I have a problem with "my Pictures" folder (Windows XP HOME) .... (IT HAS MOVED) It is missing from "My Documents" folder, it now resides in "Shared Documents" folder. When I open it from "start" menu, it opens in
the "Shared Documents" folder. Recently "My Pictures" folder was (dragged) to the "shared Documents" folder to transfer photos to another computer, now "My Pictures" folder can't be moved back. I get a warning stating that it can't be moved or re-named. I found a web site that had an article on "How to restore My Pictures folder" so I re- installed the new folder in "My Documents" I then had to transfer all photos to the new folder. Path from Start menu to "My Pictures" is "C\Documents and Settings\All users\Documents" and the path shown from new "My Pictures" in "My Documents" is (C\documents and settings\owner\my documents). Is there a way to straighten this problem back to normal? Appreciate some help, bobo123

Hey guys not sure if this is the area to post this but let me know if not and where.

I just got a new pc with windows XP and im tryng to save pictures from the internet (cd album covers to then print for cd labeling) anyway the problem is that it doesnt work. Hers what i used to do with win 2000:
go to amazon.com or allmusic etc, find the album cover picture, enlarge if possible for better pic quality, then right click over image, then "save picture as", then either as art or bitmap whatever and save to desktop folder. then i would just go there and it would give me a preview of the pic and then i would open the cd labeling software so that i can open the pic to it and print. easy enough right/ well it will do everything on XP as i mentioned above, except thqat when i go to the folder that the picture is in, the picture is there but it wont open with anything. it even says preview not available. i know the the sample pictures XP come with, do preview and open as well. So my question is, how do i get these pictures to open with XP after saved from internet? thanks for the help or where i may find it. John

I'm sorry if this problem has been reported elsewhere but I couldn't find it, so here I go: I usually save pictures that are attached to an e-mail (I'm using Outlook 2010) to my Desktop first and then rename them and move them to my Images-folder. However, after moving these images, I can't find them back when searching, so they're apparently not indexed. Rebuilding the index doesn't help.
This does not happen when I save the images directly from the e-mail to the Images-folder. Also, the only way I can get the renamed files on my Desktop to get indexed is to open them and save them under a different name.
All this only happens with image files, not with other file types.

Of course, I could solve the problem by saving the attachments directly to my Images-folder, but I'm curious about the cause of my problem ...

Many thanks in advance for your help!

A:Saved emails don`t show pictures

it's all down to paths m8, your pics aren't saved in the 'saved e-mails' ok & there's no need to save em in there anyway if you let the mail program keep your sent e-mails in the 'sent' folder.
The red X is there to say "the image is missing" as the path to the pic is wrong ok.

I have a problem with one of my vista accounts' picture folder. When saving to "my pictures", I went back to my "user" folder to find the pictures folder... but the picture I saved was actually saved to what appears to be a 'false' recycle bin; Only, this 'recycle bin' does not behave like the actual recycle bin, since I can browse and even open photos from within it, and it also does not have the "restore" option... When I try to change the name of the "recycle bin" folder to "pictures" (from the properties window) it says that there is already a folder with the name 'pictures', but then refers to the same 'recycle bin' with my photos. How could this have happened? How do we get the folder to return to the normal "pictures" appearance? It's as if part of the software thinks that it's the pictures folder, and part thinks it's (somehow??) the recycle bin (based on its appearance). Thank you.

Hello Jsprong, and welcome to Vista Forums.

This should be able to help restore this folder for you.
Backup anything that you do not want to lose in these two folders to another location.Use OPTION THREE in this tutorial to make sure that the "Pictures" folder is set to it's default location of "C:\Users\(user-name)\Pictures".Delete both folders.Restart the computer to apply. It may take a couple of restarts before the Pictures folder is back in it's default location. If for some reason the icon is not correct for it, then you can use this tutorial to fix it.Hope this helps,

Hi, I have a pretty basic question. What is the best way to back up your computer files? I used to use floppy disks and I am confused as to how to do it now. I have some CD-RW which I saved my files on. Now it has been some months and I need to do it again. It says that the files are read only and I can't do anything with them. I would like to either replace them with the updated folders, or delete what is on the CD and start over or do whatever is the best and easiest way of backing up. I have always kept our family pictures on my computer but I am wondering if they are taking lots of space? My friend uses wink flash so I am thinking of transferring my pictures to that website but would like to back up my computer first. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Cheryl

A:Back Up And Pictures

Hello Cheryl,

When you backup files on to a CD they become read only which means you can't make any changes to them. If you need to make changes to a file you must copy the file of the CD and then make changes to it unfortunately you will then need to make a new CD or use a CD-RW. My prefered method of backing up would be to use an external hard drive and store my files on it. It is so much easier than CDs, more reliable, and not prone to much damage.

If you want to know the size of the pictures you can right click on 'my pictures' folder and select properties it will then calculate the disk space used by that folder.

I had moved 'My Pictures' folder away from C: \Users\username\My Pictures when I first set the computer up and I had it in another partitioned drive (E.

For space reason I wanted to move it back to it's original location above and moved the whole folder across to the C: but instead of having it as a folder in the username folder as it should be I merged it in error with the username folder!

The folder is now named My Pictures and has the path C: \Users\My Pictures\ in the registry. I have (hopefully) attached the properties of the folder which shows that there is no location tab. The network path is shown as \\HOME\Users\username.

How do I clean up the folder back to it's standard user folder detail without the merged detail of My Pictures and I guess the easier part is to create a new My Pictures folder and point the registry to it (as per the detail in the top line).

Have you tried a System Restore back to a date prior to doing what you did? That MAY fix it.

System Restore can be accessed from Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools

Although most pictures from my correspondents display in Thunderbird, some of them don't (see the attachment).

Any ideas from forum users as to why this is happening would be appreciated.

I used the file explorer on desktop to move a bunch of pictures off an external backup drive and into the pictures folder within my pictures library. They now show up under the pictures library in desktop. But the Metro Pictures app insists that there are no pictures in my pictures library. Any suggestions?

What the title should say is ..."Windows 7 (new for me) is not saving pictures from camera TO my pictures file." Thank you for any and all advice.  I went to upload photos from my website but could not find them! What I have done so far: 1. Set autoplay to default 2. Unplugged all ports and replugged 3. Typed jpg in search and found them but they are not accessible when I try to upload them to my website. 4. Looked in temp files (not there) 5. Tried another "test" photo and tried one more time to upload it from snapfish and photobucket and still can't find them. Can I tell windows where to save my photos? Could this be from a corrupt file? I don't know what else to try.

A:Windows 7 (new for me) is not saving pictures from camera to my pictures.

They on all of my machines end up in the picture folder unless I click on save as and select another location.

How can I remove all references to subdirectory MyPictures on my C:\ drive?

Last year I did a clean install of Windows 7 Enterprise. I then copied my data files to the C:\ Drive. These directories and files were created with XP Professional so my photo files were under My Pictures\2010.

In the Library view I have Pictures\My Pictures\2010

In the Computer view I see C:\Users\Russell\My Pictures\2010
I used SyncBack SE to backup my files to the F:\drive.

SB SE converts references to subdirectory My Picture to Pictures. Some how I now have some files backed up on two directories:

F:\Users\Russell\My Pictures.

A:Multiple picture directories. Pictures, My Pictures.

I am using a Gateway GT5464 With Windows Vista Home Premium. Last week I ended up having to do a system restore back to factory settings. It asked me if I wanted to backup everything in a seperate place in the hard drive so I did. Now I got the pc back up and running like brand new, but I would like to get my pics, music, and pdf docs. back. I cant figure out where there at. I have the same amount of space in the hard drive and the recovery center as I did before I did the system restore. I ran a scan disk while I was in the prosses of getting everything up and running again and the scan disk found everything but I cant. I've also tried the regedit I cant understand it though. Any Help would be appreicied
