I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I have a Dell Inspiron 3521 i3-3227U 1.90 GHz Win 8 64bit, with Video Cards as recognized:
a. Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000, and
b. AMD Radeon HD 7670M
Driver Version 8.982.6.0, 8-1-2012.
Suddenly, yesterday both cards indicate problem in Device Manager. Catalyst Control Center doesn't work at all, and Intel Graphic Control Center has disappeared. Video Cards are recognized in system info through Dell Support Assist, but I can't run tests on them (the button disappeared) as I used before.I ran system scan through Dell Support Assist (both default and stress) but showed no problem.
Through Dell Support (according to laptop's service tag) I downloaded and installed both recommended graphic drivers for my laptop (AMD Radeon HD 7670M version 8.982.6.0 ,A01, and AMD Radeon HD 8730M version 9.0.12.1 ,A03) with no result. I also found and installed the proper graphic drivers from AMD and Intel for my laptop (based on my video cards, cpu and OS) but no result also. Laptop warranty has expired.
Any suggestions to solve the problem? Thanks in advance.

A:Problem with Graphics and Video Card Drivers in Dell Inspiron 3521

You should not install Intel or AMD's drivers since the Dell drivers are customized for your exact model. Reinstall the original Dell drivers from Dell Downloads and Drivers. Run the Dell Diagnostics by tapping F12 as soon as you reboot to get to the Boot Menu. See if there is a problem with the hardware. The catalyst control center is for desktop computers with discrete cards. It is not a driver- it's software. Your AMD card is not a discrete card. It is a supplemental card that kicks in when more power is needed.

Laptops rarely--if ever--need driver updates like desktops. If there is an update it must come from Dell.

There is no dedicated Windows 8 Driver for the ATI Mobility X300/X600/X1300/X1400 graphics cards but I have documented that the Windows Vista Driver R153383.exe will install and work reliably in Microsoft Windows8.
The steps for installation are listed below:

Download the R153383.exe drvier from: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/DriverDetails?driverId=R153383 and extract the compressed files, then cancel the automatic installation of the driver (It crashed out on me when I ran the install)
From The Style UI interface, move the mouse pointer to the lower left corner, and Right Click, select Device Manager from the pop-up menu.
Click the arrow next to Display Adapter, Microsoft Basic Display should be listed.
Right Click the Microsoft Basic Display and click Update Driver, then select Browse My Computer ...., then Click Let Me Pick From a List ....
Click the HAVE DISK Button in the Install from Disk Window, browse to the C:\Dell\Drivers\R153383\Packages\Driver\Display\LH_INF folder and click CL_45540.inf then Click Open and OK to install the driver.

I have completed this process on both an Inspiron E1505/6400 and Inspiron 6000 and both systems are working fine, even power management seems to function well.

Can you get a multiple display with a projector? I was able to get the ATI Mobility x300 as the display adapter, but I can only get one display at a time. With XP, I could see my laptop screen duplicated on a projector and I would like to be able to do the same under Windows 8.
When I check the display with the Control Panel, it allows for only one display and the monitor is a generic PnP monitor and the adapter is the Microsoft Basic Display driver.
I didn't use the method that you suggested to get the X300 adapter.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.

Yesterday I was watching a movie when my whole computer froze up. When I tried to restart I could not boot into windows. After hours of tinkering, I decided to just wipe the drive and install Windows fresh. This worked just great. I started running windows update and after a few restarts, I got the same issue.
After reinstalling windows fresh about 4 times and reinstalling all my software one piece at a time I have pinpointed the issue. Its the video card drivers.

I don't have any issues with any other software, but as soon as I try to install ANY graphics card drivers, windows will not boot. It will show the loading screen, then the screen just goes black and tells me no signal. Restoring my system will fix it, but I can't play any games or even get full resolution like this. Everything worked before, and I can't find any issue with the hardware, so I am a bit baffled.

I wonder if the card is even using the drivers I installed before or just some other drivers. can anyone explain this?

There are multiple posts in forums for other dv7 variants, so I am starting on here on mine in case someone has solved the puzzle. When upgrading to Windows 10, my slick graphics section flew right outof the vent slots. My ENTERTAINMENT, wide screen, dual graphics, very expensive laptop was unable to upgrade to the newest operating system. The blame starts and ends with HP. This leader in the industry failed to support a 5 years old product by not "testing" (their words) it for Windows 10. AMD is sidestepping this issue by refusing to write drivers for mobility HD 4200 series and mobility HD 5000 series integrated graphics cards. Desktop video cards are CONSTANTLY upgraded. Microsoft has not gotten involved as they have a lot on their plate, and can't allocate resources for one manufacturer and one graphics problem. So, we are back to HP, whose official position so far is their products aren't worth supporting. No further drivers will be forthcoming, buy a newer computer. I searched long and hard to find a machine that suited my needs, and I don't want a different machine, I want HP to man up and support their customers and products. Nobody that has posted in any of the many forums would EVER buy another HP product. Bad move for them, but on to my question. Has anyone found a way to utilize our laptops with Windows 10 and have the graphics section work?

Hello all,

I am having an unusual issue inside of Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit).

I was an hour or two into playing Terraria when I suddenly began having screen tearing issues. At the time I was playing on a Gigabyte HD5870 Super OC using drivers from AMD's website. I have had this graphics card inside this machine with this same setup for about a year now with no issues. Thinking the drivers may have become corrupted, I booted into safe mode and used driver sweeper to completely remove my AMD drivers (when the AMD drivers were not installed, the graphics looked fine, the problem went entirely away) and then did a clean re-install of the latest drivers from AMD. The problem returned.

Thinking it might be a problem with the graphics card, I again removed my amd drivers (and again the issue went away while using the standard windows vga drivers) and installed my older nVidida GeForce 9600 GT OC (which was in this same machine with this same setup for about 3 or 4 years with no issues before upgrading to the HD5870), and then installed the latest drivers from nVidia's website, now instead of screen-tearing I am getting grey horizontal lines jumping up and down across the screen (but the problem immediately goes away when reverting back to standard windows VGA driver).

The problem seems to be aggravated by mouse movement and keyboard input as when I am typing or moving the mouse the more and faster the glitches seem to occur.

Also, I noticed on my HD5870 that when the... Read more

I recently did the free Windows 10 upgrade after Windows compatibility showed no issues to do so. After upgrading, I received an error that my AMD graphice drivers were not installed or were not working properly. Winndows Update said the best driver was installed. I went to AMD's website and found that they recommend contacting the computer manufacturer for updated drivers. I contacted HP Support because the drivers were not on my product's web page for download. HP support transferred my call to AMD support, where I received no answer to my call. After completely uninstalling the drivers, I tried installing AMD's latest driver (15.7.1) from their website. I once again received the same error after install completed. There seems to be no solution out there as of yet. If there is, I would love to know what it is, as neither HP nor AMD have been able to help! If not, I would like some idea when HP will have updated drivers posted and available for downoad? Any input greatly appreciated.

Hello Forum,

Today while watching a Youtube video in fullscreen, my computer froze up completely, so I hit reset.
After the "Loading Windows" Screen(the one before the welcome screen), my monitor went black and cycled through inputs as though no signal was found.
By booting in safe mode, I was able to uninstall my graphics driver(I even used Driver Sweeper to get rid of everything related) and my computer was able to boot normally again.
Now, whenever I try to install a graphics driver(any driver, even old ones and the one that came on the CD) I get that black screen when (re)booting.
No new hardware was installed for months before this issue, nor did I update my graphics drivers recently.
I've been googling for about 3 hours now and tried most everything.
Tomorrow I will try out an old graphics card, but I really hope this one isn't broken already since it's not even a year since I bought it.

My Specs are:
Intel i5 2500
4GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce GTX 570
Windows 7 Enterprise 64-Bit

Your help will be very much appreciated.

Thanks in Advance,
Myst

Hi,
Long story short - My PC gained a rootkit, which in turn, damaged some system files. One of these was something to do with drivers. I ran AVG's recovery CD, and it did its job removing the threat.
Since then, my computer has been fine on the infection-front.

However, I had to reinstall drivers for quite a few things. My LAN port no longer works (and doesn't seem to like the new drivers I downloaded), but I've worked around that with a USB - Ethernet connetor, which works fine.
My graphics card, a ATI 5570 however, isn't going quite so well.
I already had a copy of the installer for this as I had to downgrade the drivers recently anyway, due to a compatability issue with an older game, so I know this installer works perfectly.
However, since the removal of this threat, the installer for the Catalyst Control Centre and display drivers isn't fuctioning as desired. It only installs CCC, and NOT the display drivers:

When the installer completes, it says 'Installation Complete (warnings occured during installation), although nothing is given in the log file in terms of errors.

Knowing I still had the original install CD, I popped it in and navigated to the drivers section, where it would normally allow you to install just the display drivers.
This starts up, but then gives this error:

Followed by this:
I then thought this might be due to Windows Installer/Installshield, so I tried to redownload that from the Microsoft Website. Ok, so I open that:

Okay so I'm not that experienced with techforums and I searched the driver query on here and found similar results but nothing that pinpoints just the webcam and graphics card drivers of my particular notebook. I've tried using the HP driver search tool on the website but you can only select Windows 8 when searching. I thought I'd be fine using "Windows Anytime Upgrade" and getting a newer version of Winows 7 with more features. I definitely don't want to get any other version of Windows as the reason I downgraded back to Windows 7 was because I was unhappy with 10 and even 8. This one is absolutely fine for me, there must be drivers available online still for webcam and graphics card? I simply can't search or find my webcam and upon loading Photoshop I receive the error message that my graphics card needs updating  I have wireless internet. Thanks alot

I recently installed Windows 8.1 and it turned out that I could'nt find suitable drivers for the graphics card of my laptop which is GMA 4500, part of Mobile Intel Series 4. After a bit of reading, I found out that many others are also on the same ship as me.

Previously I tried the drivers from Intel Download Center and the modified drivers from eightforums but both of them gave me an error which read something like 'an error occurred while registering one or more components'.

Now that I have the right drivers, or at least right for my laptop, I am sharing them with others here.

I have successfully tested a software that requires OpenGL2.0 with these drivers and it works great!

I need to know if anyone knows where to get a window 7 driver for an ATI Radeon X1250 intragrated graphics card? I can not change my screen resolution to be able to load the games that we often play.

This system just crashed 5 days ago and it has taken many days to get it back up and running.... Im about to restore Windows XP. My computer is a custom built so if you would need some of the specs here is what I know:

Asus M2A-VM Bios version 2.01
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+ 1.80 Ghz
ATI Radeon X1250 Intragrated graphics
2.75 Gb Ram
Windows 7 32bit Home premium with service pack 1

I have downloaded the catalyst from AMD several times none of them seem to even really want to install and do nothing as far as I can see.

Any help would be greaty appreciated!

Sorry, don't have an actual link ... but if you go to the AMD drivers site and look around, you should see a link there for "legacy" drivers, or something like that. The current 11.x driver will not work with the X-series cards, as far as I know, but I believe that v10.2 will work. If it doesn't, try one of the 9.x versions.

Whatever you download, make sure it has "legacy" in the filename.

And if it's one of the 9.x versions, I believe that you will have to use XP-compatibility mode with it.

Sorry, but it's been quite a while since I used an x-series ATI card and I'm a little rusty on the details.

Perhaps someone else still using an x-series card can provide more info ...

A:Latest NVIDIA GeForce Graphics Drivers for Windows 8

Currently experiencing some sporadic problems with this driver. Basically, I get pink/purple artifacts across the screen and then the system locks up. Sometimes it is able to recover, but sometimes it automatically reboots. It's not the card, as it is working perfectly in the other OSes with the latest appropriate drivers.

Been checking the NVidia forums about this, and I'm not the only one with this problem: Windows 8 Graphic Glitch - NVIDIA Forums and Windows 8 Consumer Preview Geforce Desktop/Notebook Driver Information - NVIDIA Forums - Page 6 describes the symptoms I'm getting perfectly.

It should be pointed out though that issues were present with the graphics drivers with the Beta versions of Windows 7 as well (not necessarily the same issues, but issues nonetheless). Hopefully, these will be ironed out over time.

I have recently been having an odd error with my computer. Recently, I decided I would upgrade the graphics card in my computer at home. I bought a Radeon 4670 and installed it in the computer just fine (it was replacing a Geforce 9400 GT) and got everything up and running. However, I decided after playing games a little that I wanted to see if I could get any more out of the graphics card and so used the ATI Overdrive feature that comes with the Catalyst Control Center. This seemed to freeze, so I rebooted as the application suggests if this occurs, to reset the clock speeds. However my problem began here... the computer would just freeze at the Windows XP logo splash screen, a couple of bars would pass and then it would just stop. This would also be accompanied by beeping noises that appear to be coming from the motherboard.

I tried a number of things to remedy this. Firstly, the computer boots fine in safe mode and if there are no graphics drivers installed. I tried doing a clean install of Windows XP, using older driver versions, sending the graphics card to be replaced but all to no avail. Everything is fine until I install the drivers and then this freezing and beeping hits in. I tried another ATI graphics card as well (a 4550 I believe) and the problem still persisted. I have a feeling that it may be a motherboard related issue... but I'm not too sure what would have happened.

Any help would be greatly appreciated .

A:Installing graphics drivers stops Windows XP boot

What motherboard do you have? We need the make and model of either the motherboard or the system if its a big brand box system.

Also what power supply do you have?

Dear all,
have the laptop with installed Windows 8.1 po (cause it is corporate standard, other OS isn't supported inside my company, sorry). Any attempts to install Intel HD there wasn't successful: not from Dell site, nor Intel - "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software" in spite of Windows 8.1 is in the list of compatible OS on the driver's description, e.g.:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26604/Graphics--15-45-Intel-?product=96551
The only graphic driver was installed is Microsoft Basic Adapter, but I can't connect extra monitor by HDMI with this driver.
Please don't recommend me to install Win10 - I can't do it now. I need any other solutions! Thanks in advance!

Quick specs overview:

EVGA P55 SLI e655 Motherboard

EVGA Geforce GTX 470 (not OC'd as far as I know. Connected via DVI to VGA)

Intel i5 750 @ 2.67GHz

4GB DDR3 Corsair SMX RAM

Corsair TX 750 W PSU.

I reinstalled windows 7 recently (Had windows 10 before) and basically my issue is that when I installed the GPU onto my motherboard and installed the drivers from NVIDIA (note I also tried the drivers from EVGAs site as well) windows will hang at the "Windows is starting" screen and it will play the welcome sound effect but will never go past that screen though. I can boot into safe mode and stuff just fine and windows will boot fine when I uninstall the graphics drivers. I am at a complete loss for solutions and could really use some help.

I've tried restarting from safe mode, running a memory test, updating windows 7 to SP1 and nothing as worked. When I tried installing the chipset drivers from EVGA for my mobo it gives me an unknown error so I'm not sure if I am not doing something right or what.

Hello Fernando now just what is it you are asking? If you are having problems with graphics then we shall need to see what the model is of that machine as you have only got Acer Veriton series in the system specs.

My comp keeps crashing on me. I've tried all of the trouble shooting i've found here from these forums and am still having problems. I've done about 30 fresh installs of windows in the past 6 months trying to get it to work properly. Doesn't matter if i'm running of my onboard video or my added vid cards. Doesn't matter if I run one or both RAM sticks. Doesn't matter if I run one or both vid cards. The pop up I get in the corner is what I've gone with for looking into trouble shooting. It refers to the graphics drivers crashing and then recovering. Doesn't matter if nothing is happening or not. Can sit fine for days, can turn it on and get 10 seconds out of it before it crashes. If i had any codes that it would give me I would help more on the situation. But when it crashes and doesn't recover I get no video; on either monitor. I'm getting very frustrated, this is the first time I've ever had this happen. This is the 4th computer I've built. First to involve any windows newer then XP. XP doesn't run my comp the way I would like it to. Some of the programs I use don't work with the 64-bit XP OS.

A:graphics card crashing, drivers installed and reinstalled windows same

As an addition to my first post I would also like to add that I am using correct CrossFire configurations when I have it all hooked up with multiple GPU's on the motherboard.

Hello all.

I have recently bought a new Windows 7 system and am having a problem installing the graphics card drivers. The store I bought it from pre-installed the OS and all the drivers, and when I fired up the computer for the first time, it got to the point just after the "starting windows" screen - the glowing windows logo desktop background appeared, but the mouse pointer, icons, task bar, start button, etc. did not appear, and I could do nothing at that point other than turn off the computer. So I restarted the computer, booted in safe mode, used system recovery to restore to a previous point, and then I was able to start the computer properly. Then using the process of elimination I figured out that the graphics card drivers were causing the hanging problem.

The card is an Nvidia GeForce 210 512MB.

The other specs for the computer are as follows:

Motherboard: MSI H55M-E33
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
CPU: Intel i7 870
4GB RAM.

So how can I get around this problem with my graphics card drivers stopping Windows 7 from starting properly? I was trying to install the latest driver package available from Nvidia's website.

A:Windows 7 hangs on startup after installing Nvidia graphics drivers

I had a similar problem: I downloaded the driver for my Nvidia GF 8200 M G graphics card from NVidia's website, and when I started the setup program, it told me that I didn't have required hardware or software.

To solve this problem, I suggest you to use a software called DriverMax (available from Download DriverMax and update your Windows Vista drivers, a short registration is needed after installing it) In the main window, click "Check for driver updates", and the results will be shown in your web browser. Find your graphics adapter, and download the driver for it. Your browser will attempt to download a file with a .dmx-info extension, that's only an information file, which contains, from where the driver needs to be acquired.

After adding the driver to the downlaod list, wait until it's downloaded. Then click Install drivers. After the procedure a system reboot will be required.

I hope it helped.

I'm running Windows 7 (Build 7000) on an lenovo pc (Intel Pentium 4 - 2.8GHz, 2.00 GB RAM). my pc's actual graphics card is "Intel 82865G Graphics Controller" but windows 7 installs it as "standard VGA graphics card" which gives me a very bad video quality on all media players. howerver when i updated video graphics back to my "Intel 82865G Graphics Controller" & play any video or any desktop activity, computer hangs.

I keep having hard locks when using various software mostly involving video.

i tried changing carious 3d settings in opengl as well.

one thing i've noticed is windows 7 comes preloaded with direct3D (directx 11) but my graphics card is directx 9 . do u think theres a conflict ther?

Does anyone please help me out of this??

A:WINDOWS VIDEO GRAPHICS PROBLEM

Have you tried the compatibility manager directly or via the trouble shooter?

If not run it and select the newest OS you know the video device worked with on that computer, it should correct the problem for you.

I had to reinstall Windows 7 64 bit on a Dell Vostro 3300 because the original hard drive died.

I have the OS installed and all but one driver. There seems to be a second video adaptor in the device manager that while the OS reports that it is installed successfully when I uninstall and reinstall it, I am still getting a 'Code 10' for it (see attached pic) in the Device Manager.

Things I have tried.
- Uninstalling and reinstalling driver
- Running Windows updates to see if another driver suggestion is detected..none is.
- Went to Dell's website and tried to install suggested drivers...I have a choice of Intel and Nvidia, but I am not sure what this adaptor is..the first one is obviously Itel, while the second one it is hard to tell, no Hardware ID description.
- Tried to find a Hardware ID to find the adaptor,
but the Resource Tab just says 'The device isn't using any resources because it has a problem. The Details Tab just says 'Standar VGA Graphis Adaptor. The Driver Tab just says a Microsoft Driver with a version of 6.1.7600.16385. I've tried to Update this, which is reported that it is up to date and also uninstall, reboot and see if it will install correctly, which I receive a messge that it does, but apparently it does not. The General Tab just says 'The device cannot start..Code 10.
Any ideas as to waht this is? Also, where are there even two video adaptors for a laptop?

After upgrading to Windows 10 I have been having weeks of problems with the AMD 8870M graphics card on my son's Inspiron 5737 with the computer freezing up.  In the end it was necessary to deactivate the graphics card and deinstall the driver to prevent the computer freezing up.

I have checked for all driver updates and have successfully installed autodetected driver updates (as of the 28th October so after a recent driver update of all on the 27th October) including,
- The Intel chipset drivers
- The Intel HD graphics driver
Moving on to the AMD driver I downloaded this from the Dell driver site and (after deactivating automatic Windows 10 driver updates) ran the driver installation software.  This starts ok, but then freezes part way through the installation ... the screen freezes and shortly afterwards the cooling fan goes into overdrive.   After 10-20 minutes I do a hard shutdown and restart the computer.
This process has been repeated several times with both the drivers from the Dell site and from the AMD download center.  No success, same result.
Any help would be appreciated!
