My charger cable Type C for Pavilion x2 12 was damaged and can no longer charge laptop. Unable to find a replacement part from HP or anywhere else and apparently only a45W HP charger for this model will work. Now have an expensive laptop I cannot use - very annoying!
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

My Dell Inspiron 17R 5720 doesn't recognize charger any more. And unfortunately my warranty expired 2 month ago.It was plugged in and working in the morning, but then in the afternoon I noticed that it was running on the battery only. It wont start without battery (just charger plugged in).
1. So here what I have done to debug. Me and my brother, we have purchased the same Dell laptops at the same time a year and a bit ago. This is why for a debugging purposes it was good.I took my charger and plugged in to his computer. And it works. Definitely not the charger issue I guess. And when I plug charger in to my computer, green light is still on the charger. And I have the original charger that came with the laptop.
2. Now, laptop works on the battery only, so this means that motherboard is working. I guess.
3. Next thing I did was unplugged charger and removed the battery from the laptop. Then I pushed and hold "Power" button for 45 seconds to discharge a flea charge. Plugged charger back in but laptop wont start.
4. Next I started laptop on the battery, went to BIOS and checked if the charger is recognized in the BIOS. No, it doesn't recognize charger. So, if it is not a charger then what else can it be?
5. Laptop doesn't have any strange smells so I'm not sure if anything happened with the motherboard, but I would assume mother board is ok because it works of the battery.
6. I was thinking updating the BIOS, but I can't, because it wont update whi... Read more
Thanks for reaching out with your query. You pretty much figured out all points of failure. Good job.
If the adapter is not detected in BIOS, it most likely is an issue with the mother board. In the BIOS set up, AC adapter should show up as 65w or 90w. If the adapter status is 'None' or 'Unknown Device Installed', it indicates that the mother board is not detecting the adapter for which the battery is not getting charged. Once the battery charge drains, I'm sure the adapter will not charge it again. Replacing the system board should resolve this issue.
Is there an HP in car 12V charger available for the Pavilion X2? I want to be able to power the notebook for watching videos on long journeys It has a USB C power socket and the AC adapter provided gives 5V/3A I read an article testing interoperability of USB C chargers, and apparently the spectre x2 has some special firmware that rejects non-HP USB C chargers to "protect" against inferior power supplies. Third party chargers only work when the laptop is off (which wont work for me). Is this also true of the pavilion x2? There are several third party USB C in car chargers available, eg belkin, but will these work? It seems stupid and unnecessarily expensive to have to use an inverter.Read other answers
So I got my laptop in America around a year to two years ago and moved to Japan recently. Not long after moving, around 5 months ago my laptop would randomly stop charging and run on the battery until it dies. Recently, the laptop charger would give up within 5-10 mins of turning the laptop on but if the laptop was off charging was possible. Also, when the laptop was plugged in and the charger stopped working, I had to remove the charger and reinsert it 1-2 times before the laptop would recognize it's plugged in. Do I need a new charger? Maybe one for japan?Read other answers
Hello, I accidentaly lost my charger and I need to buy a new one for HP Pavilion X2 12-b103nc. I read that I can't buy any charger even though it uses USB-C, but only a specific HP charger because the others are blocked by firmware. I was trying to find a charger but I cannot find any HP charger which lists this notebook. Can you help me? Thank youRead other answers
I have purchased an HP pavilion dv6820ea off Amazon marketplace without a power adapter. I was informed it was easy to find and eventually bought this charger off ebay. However it prooved not to fit and I was wondering if anyone can tell me the specs of the charger I need? All I can find specifically on the data sheet is that it needs to be 90w.
Even better if someone could link to a right charger I'd be appreciative.
I'm in the uk but an link showing the correct spec would be nice!
Thanks in advance,
I've got a bit more info...
I'm fairly sure I need a 19v, 4.74a charger and a 4mm external diameter connection is a bit (but not massively) too big.
Hello,Not sure if this is the right place, please point me to somewhere else if this isn't the correct destination. I bought a HP All i one 22-b000na desktop early December 2016. I was using Settings-Power and Sleep -Screen to set the minutes when the display turned off when I wanted the pc on but the screen blacked out. I installed a program (jv16 power tools) but uninstalled it several days later. I now can no longer get the screen to go black using the method listed above and the display stays on 24/7 if i don't shut the computer down totally. Could this program be the problem. Additional Power Settings have no effect on it either. How can i reset the display settings back to when i first bought the comuter while keeping all the rest current? thanksRead other answers
Hello,I have had my HP dv2145 for years without using it. The screen is just black when I power it on, but the Caps Lock and Scroll lights blink continuously... Anyways, I just bought a universal adapter for it, it is 90W. From reading past forums about the adapters, this should be fine. However, I just want to know one or two hopefully simple things. When the laptop is NOT powered on, but has the adapter plugged in- is it charging if the light underneath the lightning bolt sign is NOT blinking?I am just asking because when I have it plugged in while powered ON, the lightning bolt light blinks continuously. I would just like a glimmer of hope with this. If this is a bad sign, I would like to know what I should do to get my screen to turn back on. Please and thank you for any information you can offer me.Read other answers
Hi, I have a HP Pavilion dv6 6135dx and the charger "broke" it was giving the laptop to much power causing it to power off, so, I got a new charger that is 90 watts and the guy at the store said it should work but, It's best buy so I don't trust them so can this break my laptop? I have a battery with it before I was not using a battery now I am. Thanks!
Hi, Again, given SAME voltage (or +/- 5%), 90W won't break your machine but this may reduce video performance. I did post another day about this problem. Regards.Read other 5 answers
This is a problem that occurred for the first time a few months ago. whenever i unplug the power cord from my laptop it crashes and reboots. When it is booted again the screen shows black ,i can hear the ventilator spinning loudly and i can't interact with it at all. I can get the laptop to boot normally again by holding the power button till it turns off, and then boot it again. There are a few occassions when the laptop crashes even with the power cable connected. This is ussually when i try to play a computer game (e.g. Hearthstone) that uses fullscreen, when the screen is showing a high resolution image on a webpage or sometimes when i connect an extra monitor. I "survived" the last months by not doing these things on my pc and not disconnecting my cable. Some things that may have caused it are:- water damage?, the first time i noticed, was after i came back from outside cycling with my laptop in my bag in heavy rain.- Windows 10?, A few weeks before it happend for the first time, i installed windows 10 on my laptop. This upgrade didn't go smoothly. The old version was restored during the upgrade several times i tried it, because the laptop was getting to hot. I got it to update by setting down a fan under my laptop so it cooled it from the outside.-high CPU temperatures?,

Dear community,I have recently disassembled my laptop in order to clean the dust. As soon as I assembled it back the computer started perfectly. However, it was not charging. It isn't one of the "Plugged but not charging" issues as the computer is not detecting that the charger is plugged in.I disassembled the laptop again to check if any connections were not plugged in correctly. Everything looked fine. It's not my first time disassembling laptops. The light on the charger port does not light up when the charger is plugged in. However, it is flashing white as the battery is critically low. When I press power button it flashes amber color. I have tried to remove the battery and start the laptop but it won't start.Does anyone have any idea of what the issue could be?Thank youRead other answers

I have had this laptop for a few years now, bought from new. In the last few months I've had trouble with the laptop sometimes not recognising that the charger is in and therefore not charging (I have tried a new charger and it is not faulter charger). Usually if I turned it off and plugged in for a while, after turning it back on it seemed fine. Also, have had warnings to replace battery but have not got round to doing so. Therefore when the laptop is not plugged in it does not stay charged for more than a few minutes. The battery also can go from completely empty to nearly full when you restart it despite it not being plugged in to charge, etc. Since two days ago however the laptop will not turn on at all without being plugged into the charger (even then this is not always), and when it IS plugged in it says that the laptop is NOT plugged in (although it can't be turned on when the charger is taking out immediately after). I can't look through anything on my computer to check for issues as since a few days ago also, everytime I try to open anything, particularly the internet (chrome) the laptop just shows the waiting to lad sign, and either does not do anything despite how long you wait, or crashes. Asking at my local repair shop they said it sounds like a loose connection but would need to take apart to know for sure, but I am worried could it also be (or just be instead) a virus? N... I don't use my computer for maybe a whole year.
Now, I wanted to use it but it's not working. My battery is addicted, basically, if I don't have a charger I won't be able to turn on the computer.
So when I plugged the charger on the wall, the light on the box charger was solid (it didn't blink); However when I plugged it in the computer the light blinked.
I don't know what's the problem and I would like to fix it, if possible.

Recently I bought a charger for my HP G61-110SA which was just a replacement adapter. Now yesterday it did something weird. Basically, there are two pictures of the two indicators there are to show whether it is charging, one is on the front and one is next to the port on the side. Basicaally the charger wasnt changing the indicator on the side or the one on screen but the one on the front was working when I turned it on. By default the laptop chages brightness when plgged in but now it sort of brightens a bit (not to the full level as should do) and then goes back to normal. Today the laptop is still doing the same but the front light now only turns on for a few seconds before turning off! I dont know whether it is charging. Is this the laptop or the charger. Any help would be useful, I have attatached the side indicator and the front one
UPDATE: I found a website which said you could turn it off and start without battery but with charger and then turn off and use both. However, I turned it off and removed the battery and it wouldnt charge. Then I put the battery in and it started charging-weird. Also the light on the front doesnt last very long so I am stuck. ANY HELP?
it could be that your battery is not working properly. how old is the laptop ?

I recently received a Dell Inspiron 6000 and a Dell Studio 1737 laptops from my uncle minus the chargers. A few years ago, both the original chargers died so they bought replacement Rayovac batteries for each laptop and a replacement charger. I guess it worked for a while until the batteries stopped charging. I'm assuming it was due to the charger not being OEM. Right now, I have the laptops running on an HP 19.5 volt 7.4 amp charger with the same polarity but none of the batteries charge and I get the error message on boot about using an unknown charger. So right now, I'm looking at getting an OEM charger to see if I can get the batteries to charge and to return the HP charger to my dad (it's the charger for his work laptop). I found this Dell PA-3E charger but I'm not sure if it will it work. It's the same voltage, amps and polarity but it's not the same model charger that's written on the bottom of the laptop. I'm afraid that the laptop will run but will not charge. Would this charge and work for both the Inspiron and Studio laptops?Read other answers

does it hurt a PC if you use it all the time as a charger? i have a PC with XP on it. and its about 4 years old. i let my girlfriends daughter use it. and she ask if she can plug her ipod to it to charge. i told her i didn't think it would work. but i told her to try it. she did and it charged it. i just want to make sure it wont hurt the PC. if she does it all the time.
It may shorten the life of your power supply unit - perhaps by as much as a week. My experience of charging my wife's SatNav though, proved only that it took five or six times longer than it would if charging directly on mains power.

Hello, Thank you for posting in the HP support forum. You can buy HP original charger from many places. I suggest you search in Google for PC computer shops in Manhattan. Popular PC stores in the USA are BestBuy.https://www.google.co.uk/?gws_rd=ssl#q=best+buy+in+manhattan As per the HP manual, the adapter for your notebook should be 65W or 90 W. I guess you can take the notebook with you in the store to test it. My lap top charger is muffed up.
Beneath the part that plugs into the lap top, is a tiny spot where you can see the bare wires. How can I fix this myself. To get my lap tops company to fix it requires me to send in my lap top (Which I do online buisness so thats out) or I have to buy a new charger (44 bucks or more).
If it's only the charger plug on the wire, you can get a matching one from Radio Shack and solder it onto the cord.
