I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) architecture is flexible, pluggable, and easily adaptable, allowing for a modular approach to building your Web site; for example, you can exchange outdated or under-performing modules for a preferred, more dynamic solution. In Integration Techniques and Strategies for Content Management Server 2002, we’ll examine a variety of integration options available to you when designing your Web sites. The methodology we present is simple, secure, and extendable. We take the WoodgroveNet sample site which shipped as a sample with MCMS 2002 and build integration components to show integration with search engines, workflow engines, authentication systems, and other software. Some techniques and strategies include:

Using the MCMS .NET-based managed APIs
Using the MCMS COM-based Site Deployment API
Creating user controls and dialog boxes within the Web Author
Creating custom placeholder controls in Microsoft Visual Studio® .NET
Creating components that communicate with each external system

You'll find that the integration components add many new features to the WoodgroveNet site, including the ability to search, extend the publishing workflow, change the authentication schema, add content such as Flash, and manage resources outside of MCMS.

Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) 2001 is a .Net Enterprise
Server product that simplifies developing and managing e-business
web sites. Microsoft has learned of three security vulnerabilities
affecting it:

- A buffer overrun in a low-level function that performs user
authentication. At least one web page included with MCMS 2001
passes inputs directly to the function, thereby potentially
providing a way for an attacker to overrun the buffer. The
result of exploiting the vulnerability would be to either
cause MCMS to fail, or run code in the context of the MCMS
service (which runs as Local System).

- A vulnerability resulting from the confluence of two flaws
affecting a function that allows files to be uploaded to the
server. The first flaw lies in how the function authenticates
requests, and would allow any user to submit an upload request.
The second results because it is possible to override the upload
location; where the function should upload files to a folder that
only privileged users can access, it can be overridden to upload
it to a temporary folder that does allow unprivileged users to
call it. By exploiting the two flaws in tandem, an attacker
could upload an .ASP or other file to the server, in a location
from which it could be executed.

- A SQL injection vulnerability affecting a function that services
requests for image files and other resources. Exploiting the
vulnerability could enable an attacker to run SQL commands on the
server, which wou... Read more

Issue:
======
Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) 2001 is an Enterprise
Server product that simplifies developing and managing E-Commerce
web sites. MCMS includes a number of pre-defined ASP web pages that
allow web site operators to quickly set up E-business websites.

A Cross-Site Scripting flaw exists in one of these ASP pages that
could allow an attacker to insert script into the data being sent
to a MCMS server. Because the server generates a web page in
response to a user request made using this page, it is possible that
the script could be embedded within the page that CMS generates and
returns to the user, this script would then run when processed by
the user's browser. This could result in an attacker being able to
access information the user shared with the legitimate site.

An attacker might attempt to exploit this flaw by crafting a
malicious link to a valid site that the user intended to visit.
If the attacker were able to get a user to click the link-most
likely by sending the link in an email-then it could be possible
for the attacker to take a variety of actions. The attacker could
alter the data that appeared to be contained on the web pages
presented by the legitimate site, monitor the user's session with
the legitimate site and copy personal data from the legitimate site
to a site under the attacker's control, or access the legitimate
site's cookies.

Okay I've just become a member today and I have a standalone office computer that is running very slow and sluggish. I'm considered pretty computer literate so in most cases I'm able to fix most of the computers issues myself. Yesterday I thought the first thing to be done was remove some of the programs that are installed that we no longer use. For instance I removed the google toolbar and the msn toolbar. I also removed an old Canon printer program because we have a newer HP printer. I removed some of the HP printer programs we have never accessed as well. I did a disk cleanup and removed the temporary internet files and the browsing history. Now I am ready to do the Disk Defragment but every time I get the progam openned and click on defragment or analize an error message with the red button and an X through it comes up and the message reads "Disk Defragment does not start". I tried rebooting the system but nothing worked. I also went to Microsoft Windows but there wasn't any solutions for my problem. I did a internet search and I read about various fixes but none were for this particular error message. I tried opening it from several locations on my C drive but every time the same error appeared. I browsed to see if there was a download to reinstall the Disk defragment file but to no avail. Is there someone with a solution to this error? I think if we could defrag the C drive most of the problems with the programs loading slowly would run better... Read more

The Microsoft Content Management Server 2002 (MCMS) Web Author enables non-technical content contributors, who have the appropriate rights, to create and approve content on a Web site. Using the Web Author console, content contributors can update the Web site without leaving their Internet Explorer Web browser.

By modifying the code included in an MCMS project, you can easily customize the Web Author console to meet your business needs. For example, you can change the look of the Web Author console, remove actions, hide or show status messages, and create a new channel action.

This document describes the architecture of the Web Author console, and it explains how you can customize and extend the Web Author console for use with ASP.NET-based sites.

The examples in this document use the WoodgroveNet sample site, which is included on the MCMS product CD.

The SMS 2003 Device Management Feature Pack extends the enterprise change and configuration management capabilities of SMS 2003 to mobile devices running Windows CE 3.0 or later (ARM based devices with required OS components) and Windows Mobile 2002 for PocketPC or later. The Device Management client included with Window CE 5.0 Platform Builder (all processor types) is compatible with the Device Management feature pack. The Device Management Feature Pack allows IT administrators to capture the asset characteristics, configure settings and security policies of mobile devices, and update or deploy new applications with minimal interruption to the end user’s experience, dramatically reducing the cost of deploying and managing devices in the enterprise.

The Device Management Feature Pack is not released in Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, or Korean language versions. To provide language support for customers who use these languages – as well as Italian, Spanish and Portuguese, you must install the Device Management Feature Pack International Client Pack (ICP).

I have loaded Certificate Server off of the NT Option Pack onto my IIS 4.0 Web Server. I get a message on startup that the Certificate Authority Service cannot find a database. It gives me a 7000 and 7004 error. I looked up the problem on Technet and all I can find are a reference in the SP 4 Release Notes which says that there are no workarounds for the problem. Surely to Bill I am not going to have to remove Service Pack 5 and put Service Pack 3 on my Web Server in order to get Certificate Server to work! Has anyone else experienced this problem trying to run Certificate Server on later SP's? Does anyone know a workaround for this problem?

A:Certificate Server and Service Pack 5

I don't know what certificate srver is, but perhaps you could try service pack 6a??

We had one machine in a 2-machine cluster get a stop error last friday. The app support people helped me to shift all services over to the other server, but then I wanted to load balance again.

They told me I would have to install SP2 and all the updates on both before we could. So I did, and we restarted.

Then once he tried to activate the other server in the cluster, the failed one would not cooperate. They kept reporting duplicate IP addresses, and thus would not work.

So we put it back the way it was, and looked at the failed one. I could not access the network connections to config the interfaces and I could not uninstall programs. I booted into safe mode, and I can see the adapters, but I still cannot roll back the SP2 or uninstall programs. When I try to uninstall SP2 in safe mode, it tells me that there is a file missing. It doesn't specify which one. When I try to re-install SP2, it tells me there is a file missing. It doesn't specify which one.

When I try to uninstall SP2 in normal windows, it just hangs at inspecting configuration. Same w/re-install. I have tried uninstalling through the command prompt also. Same thing. If I stick my thumb drive in there, it hangs at installing that.

So there is something terribly wrong with this machine. Reinstalling windows from scratch is NOT an option right now because there is Oracle software and settings on here that the vendor will charge out the a$$ to reinstall.

Any ideas of what I can try? Besides wipi... Read more

Hiya

On January 13, 2003, Microsoft released Service Pack 2 (SP2) for SharePoint Portal Server 2001. Soon afterward, continued internal testing revealed a previously undiscovered problem in the service pack. Microsoft immediately discontinued downloads of the service pack and is completing the required updates, which will be made available soon. In the meantime, Microsoft has provided this patch for customers who may have downloaded and installed this service pack.

This problem involves the way that indexing is performed. Indexing is a process initiated by content sources set up by the administrator, through which the content on the server is made searchable. This problem may, in some cases, cause the indexing process to be incomplete, therefore preventing portions of the content from being exposed to searches.

Microsoft recommends that customers who have downloaded and installed SharePoint Portal Server SP2 apply this patch, or avoid performing indexing (also known as crawling) until the corrected version of the service pack is made available. Customers who downloaded SharePoint Portal Server SP2 require either this patch or the updated SP2 to correct the problem

System Requirements
Supported Operating Systems: Windows 2000

SharePoint Portal Server 2001 with Service Pack 2.
