I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am getting ghost touches all over my touchscreen, plus the mouse barely works and the keyboard doesn't work at all when the ghost touches are present.  I am running on Windows 10 and have owned this laptop since May of 2014 (purchased new directly from Lenovo.com). This issue is getting worse and worse as time goes on.  Even when I disable the touchscreen capability (via Device Manager/Human Interface Devices) it is  not permanently disabled and it just comes back on randomly, without me enabling it again. If you could tell me a way to permanently disable the touch screen feature, at least that would resolve the main problem for now. Obviously I'd love for my touch screen to work properly though. I've been having this problem for many months now, though in the last month or two it's gotten a lot worse and a lot more frequent (at least once if not multiple times a day).  I am at my wit's end. Thank you.

i recently bought a Yoga 720 13"im surpised when the screen occasionly started to show random touches along the the line of 1st third of the screen in a vertical lineapproximately 1-5 touches which is very disturbing and unpredicatble, the only why to stop it is by disabling the touch screen from the device manager after a failed attempt to update the driver.  it seems a hardware issue to me, the only issue is that im abroad after i bought this machine from US. any idea what might be the solution. And if it possible that lenovo take care of the shipping charges or at least part of it, if the issue turned to be manufacturer error ?

I just got this laptop a few months ago back in August and after about a month of using it, it started ghost touching.  I'll be in class typing and all of a sudden the screen shows multiple touches on it.  It'll open folders, start programs, etc.  I don't even need to be using the laptop either.  When I'm just listening to lecture and not even touching the laptop, it'll still show touches all over. For now I turned off the touch screen feature, but I bought this laptop specifically because of the touch screen.  Any help would be awesome!

I received this laptop last November 2016 and i noticed that when i use the touchscreen continously the drag and drop stops working. I downloaded and installed the softpaq that hp support provided but it did nothing. Now my laptop ghost touches on the upper and middle left when i turn it on. I tried disabling and uninstalling the touchscreen driver. It works however the problems comes back again after a few days.   I am hoping that someone knows the solution to this. Thank you!

I've seen related posts, though my problem seems to be unique. Basically, the screen/digitizer works perfectly 90% of the time.  About 1 in 10 times I e.g. resume from sleep/hibernation, I get myriad ghost touches all across the screen, sometimes 2-3 touches per second. The behavior persists until I shutdown or put the computer to sleep. When I resume the computer from sleep, the issue is resolved. I'm running Windows 10, have reinstalled the relevant driver, and have updated the BIOS.

I bought my computer 15 months ago. Since two months ago or so, sometimes (ramdomly) the cursor starts to move on their own and starts to open windows, close others, without me being able to stop it.  It enlarges the page I am working on, or open Cortana or just move to other windows. I have to be patient and wait until it stops (it takes around 2-3 minutes). Sometimes it doesnīt happen again, but other days it goes on and on. It stops for 5 minutes and then starts again. Normally, I reset the computer and that finishes the problem, but other days as today it does not. The only pattern I have been able to determine is that it normally happens with the battery is low (20% or lower). I have been looking in forums, and I found that a simmilar problem occured with the Lenovo 700 ISK and that Lenovo published a solution (please see bellow), but  I donīt know if I can use this as it is a different model.   https://support.lenovo.com/es/es/solutions/HT103512?utm_source=Email&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=e... If anyone could help me I would really appreciate it. Many thanks,

NOTE: I posted this on the LogiTech forums yesterday, but after a disappointing 24 hours without a single reply, I am posting it here. Therefore, "yesterday" in the note below would now be day before yesterday.

----------------------------------------------

I have a G5 Laser Mouse (corded) which is a couple years old, and much loved by me. Yesterday, it started scrolling on its own!! I initially thought this was a Firefox problem, since I had just gotten a Firefox update (3.6.2) a few hours earlier, and further because the scrolling continued even if I unplugged the mouse, but as I began to diagnose the problem, it became clear that it was mouse-related, not Firefox-related. Let me describe the problem as best I can:

1. The number of lines that are scrolled down is controlled by the Mouse settings in the Control Panel. I have set the Vertical Scrolling value under the "Wheel" tab to 1, which is the lowest value allowable - this is the least irritating. It would a nice work-around if I could enter a zero here, or click a button to turn off mouse scrolling, but it does not let me do that.

2. The problem occurs in Firefox, Notepad, my old programming editor (Ultra-Edit), the Windows Start Menu, and even in World of Warcraft!! What is really maddening in WoW is that the mouse scrollwheel controls camera zoom in/out, so this problem causes the camera to slowly zoom in until it is at its closest, which means you can't see anything. I initially thought th... Read more

A:Ghost in the mouse - phantom auto-scrolling

I know this will sound very obvious but have you checked for dust and crumbs around the scroll wheel of the mouse? This to me sounds like the most likely cause of this problem.

This is a good place to start, be thorough with your cleaning and also check for any kinks in the mouse cable.

Post back with any results.

Hello, I have a new HP Envy 15T Model 15-as020nr and the monitor has "phantom touches" on the right side of the screen in a vertical line. It will continue for quite some time (minutes) opening programs and anything in it's path. The screen exhibits circle touch indicating a finger touch. I already made sure the screen is clean and updated drivers and bios but it still does it randomly. It often happens after opening the screen after being in sleep mode.  Any suggestions from a tech would be great otherwhise it's getting returned... Thank you for your help!

Hello Community I have a ThinkPad Helix (1st Gen) N3Z6CGES running Windows 10. Bought it back in 2013.Long time i was very happy with the device. Smaller issues, no big deals.Among others: Some static Windows control buttons burnt into the screen. Therefore, in September 2017 I decided to give it to a certified dealer, before my ThinkPlus service runs out. They changed the screen and since the Helix has this new screen, I have the same problem as it is seen in this video:Lenovo Yoga 3 14 freaking around... I could only use the digitizer, but at least i was able to work with the Helix. Few days ago there was a Windows update and i noticed that this update resetted my settings in the device manager. Hello, I've had my Yoga 900-13ISK2 Signature Edition for a little less than 2 years and up until recently it has been working flawlessly.  After the recent windows 10 1803 update, I started seeing the "phantom touches" or "ghost touches" phenomena on my screen.  It is not very frequent, but it does happen from time to time.  I am not sure if anything triggers the behavior as it normally happens randomly and not related to any particular task.   This is very annoying and disruptive especially because I use this machine for work.  I checked to make sure all my drivers were up-to-date and they all are.  I checked the forum and there were no solutions for my PC there either.  I used the recovery function to do a clean install of windows, thinking that maybe the 1803 patch caused this issue and that seemed to work fine for a while but the phenomena came back.  By the way, the signature edition doesn't come with the factory image partition (major error on Lenovo's part - that should be standard on all devices, no matter what the edition) and now the Novo/Nova (sp?) button doesn't work and the Airplane Mode hot key doesn't work.  For such a premium laptop, it is definitely lacking in areas that are easy to provide to make the customer experience positive. I still have this issue and want to know if anyone else is seeing this problem.  I also tried stopping the HID touchscreen controller and re-starting to see if that h... They all want to run the same tests, update or reinstalles. I've also done a recovery reset. I am currently on the phone with hp. The chick transferred me to a different department... I am having continued problems with the so-called "ghost touches" on my brand new Yoga 700. And I would add that this is the second brand new one I have had, as I had to return the first one due to a significant hardware problem.  I have seen this problem discussed with respect to the Yoga 3, and I saw a proposed solution, which had something to do with updating the firmware. I did that, but the problem persists. Any help would be much appreciated. For what it's worth, the ghost touches do not appear unless I have had my laptop open for a little while (at least an hour, typically). Thanks

I received my Inspiron 13 7000 as a Christmas gift 12/2014. It immediately had ghost touch problems, though I did not know that was the name of the issue. I had lots of problems: the "bubbles" that traveled up and down the left side of the screen, opening numerous browser tabs, re-sizing pages, opening and closing programs, etc. My MUCH cheaper HP laptops performed better than this machine! I assumed that contacting tech support would take a while, and I did not have the time to sit with them for hours on end (I am a teacher...no time!). Now that I am on summer break, I contacted Dell today. It DID take a couple of hours, but the tech did lots more than just calibrate the touchscreen. I had to agree to let the tech take over my computer, and he/she installed various files, ran numerous tests, and pretty much informed me as he/she worked, of what was going on. When the tech was finished, I asked him/her to remove all the icons for the files that were downloaded. So far, I've been able to work on my laptop longer than I ever have since I got it. The tech made an appointment with me for Monday afternoon, giving me the weekend to really determine if the problem has been permanently fixed.

A:Ghost Touch problem FIXED!

I have an Inspiron 15 7000 series and started have the same problem within a couple of weeks of purchase.  Sent the unit back to Dell and they replaced the mother board and display.  Started having the same problems again and then recently the Dell tech had me do a clean install of Windows 8.1 and  so far the problem has not returned.  I will wait a couple of weeks and if still no problem then I will reinstall Windows 10.  I will say that I have had excellent support from all the Dell technicians.

And that really makes me want to not buy it, so, my question is, how prevalent is this issue about Ghost Touches?I read the other thread, but it's a bit outdated, and wanted a more recent response.  Like, are my chances of getting the Ghost Touch high or low if I get the product?  Have they fixed the issue in the new batches, or, is it still a huge risk I face?  Thanks in advance for the responses!

Hi everyone, I am experience a lot of problems with the touch screen on my Yoga 3 14. At least once a day I am getting ghost touches, i.e. it starts thinking that the screen is being pressed when it isn't. It closes windows, opens the keyboard and types, etc. I've noticed it mostly in laptop mode, but that may be because that's how I use it most of the time. For now I resort to putting it into hibernation or having to do a full reboot, and it fixes it for a while but always starts up again. It happens in different places on the screen, usually just one at a time but occasionally multiple touches. I've had the laptop for 2 months and have had the problem since week 1 or 2.  Is there any solution to this besides calling support and having them replace the screen/other parts?

hi hucktopia,

Welcome to the Forums.

Your problem might be similar to this thread.

If you barely use the Touchscreen to navigate around, can you try these steps to disable the feature:
1. Press the Windows key? +R, type devmgmt.msc and press Enter (this should open the Device Manager).
2. On the Device Manager, click View > Show Hidden Devices and under Human Interface Devices section, uninstall the HID-compliant device touch screen (this is the driver that controls the touchscreen).
    - Sample image

3. When finished, reboot the system and observe.

If the above procedure works, you should be able to use the system normally but I recommend that you report the issue by contacting lenovo support.

I spent $1500 on my computer and bought the extended in home care pack and i'm not even getting any help. This is the second computer i have bought from HP in the last 2 years and the 1st one quit working and Square Trade wouldn't fix it because they claimed it was a software problem. I can't believe how bad of a product HP is selling and how horrible the service and treatment is to their customers. This computer is unusable and HP's support staff won't do a thing to help me with it even with the care pack i bought. I'm a college student who needs a computer and if you won't fix this issue you better be prepared to issue a full refund. It is taking 20 mins to write a paragraph because of how bad this ghost touching is. This is an absolute joke of a computer and service care pack! Will make sure i share my feelings on all social media outlets to let consumers know what kind of a company HP truly is and what kind of a product they are selling. Completely feel like i've been cheated out of my money and this is the worst customer experiences i have ever had. Absolutely HORRIBLE!!!

Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

Since purchasing my HP Spectre prior to Christmas I have experienced ghost tapping with the touch screen. Either as randomly timed taps in the same location or continuous taps in the same location. Resetting the device stops it from happening but within around 30 minutes to an hour of use the tapping returns and will be in a different location from the previous session. Having this issue from day one is very dissapointing and I wasn't expecting to have such an issue believing HP to provide quality products. Since searching for the issue I can see that others also experience the fault. Seems odd that a premium product can have so many units with faults and a fault that was known about in previous products. I'm not confident that a repair will give me much assurance that the issue won't return so may seek a refund from where I purchased it. A little saddened by that as I was looking forward to owning the new Spectre 360. I haven't experienced HP support before, do others have experience and have others had a good experience with the new Spectre 360? I like the device so would prefer to get it fixed, but I start Uni next week and will struggle to be without a laptop.

I've been having problems periodically with ghost touches but only in the bottom right of my screen. Sometimes I can continue to use the touch screen and pad, other times it's just stuck. When I can move the cursor it flickers like it is trying to go back to the corner. There's the grey touch circle so it seems like it's registering a touch. Sorry if this is a repeat, I haven't found any solutions for my model.

I've been having random ghost/phantom touch issues with the touchscreen on my laptop. Tried the known LG firmware fix, but that was a no go. Has anyone else experienced this issue with this particular model or know if there is another fix?
