No Mic input?

Q: No Mic input?

I have a regular old desktop microphone as well as a headset. For some reason my computer doesn't have voice recognition or something.

I went to Control Panel>Speech and Audio and set the volume all the way up on my Mic, as well as taking off the mute. I have a Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit...

The microphone itself doesn't have a volume control or mute switch on it, it's an older labtec mic, and I can't seem to find my headset.

I'm not too sure why this bothers me so much, I may just break down, and tear my tower apart, throw a new sound card in, and buy a new microphone...

^.^ Any ideas?

Preferred Solution: No Mic input?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Really having some wonk issues with these last two Lenovo products I've bought. It's nuts. Latest weird thing that's happening seems to be some sort of unintended input. Occasionally, I've had the focus repeatedly stolen from an input field I was typing in. I have to click on the field several times, only to have it taken away again, like the mouse is clicking elsewhere. (I've been having issues with clicking things accidentally firing double-clicks--maybe my mouse buttons are faulty? Both the X1E I returned and this X1C have done that.) The other strange thing that's happening is that in iTunes, if I pause my music, it will resume itself 5 seconds later, like the play button some keyboards have was pressed. But this keyboard doesn't even have that, as far as I can tell. It feels like my computer is inventing input. It's maddening.  Any clues? My opinion of Lenovo products has sharply dropped these last couple months.

I have a Dell D610 laptop w/ XP Pro SP2... or had.

I have a corrupted registry entry hosing the keyboard input. The mouse works fine up until the point when I kit the first key on the keyboard when under the Graphical Windows interface. After I hit any key, the mouse freezes as well. This happens if I use the laptop keyboard or an external keyboard connected to a PS2 jack.

I have performed hours of troubleshooting and it is not the keyboard hardware. Keyboard input works during all non-graphical UI (BIOS, Recovery Console, etc.). I even removed the drive and plugged it in to another computer. I made a copy of the WINNT\system32\config files (sam, default, security, system, software) and replaced them w/ a copy of these files from WINNT\repair. The computer boots to Graphical Windows and I am able to type in this session just fine.

How can I "erase" the keyboard driver corruption in the registry (or perhaps a corrupted driver file or set of files)? The problem is that I can't boot the system to a point where I can edit the "corrupted" keyboard entries. I can't use the Recovery Console because I don't have the Administrator password. So I tried to install SP3 from a bootable CD. The minute it asks me to type in the Product Key (a graphical dialog box), input is frozen a the first keystroke (even a key like Caps Lock). Can I actually edit the registry that resides on the boot drive while it is connected to another computer? Any other suggest... Read more

Sorry for the silly question, but I am really lost with Windows 8. Did a quick search, but nothing came up (Keyword will only result in how to set input in Win8, not the problem presented here).
Here is the issue.

The short version of the question is how do I move the #@#[email protected]%$#^%$ (display gibberish somehow, boxed in red below) input method above Microsoft Pinyin, while keeping English as my default Display language and Input language.
Longer version here:
I use English and Chinese input, but the default MS Chinese input is "inconvenient", so I installed another input software for Chinese input (the gibberish above, or lets call it method ABCD).
The order I want is English as my default Input method and display, while ABCD as my default Chinese input (when I hit Alt + Shift, should switch from English to ABCD). However, since I can't get ABCD above MS-PinYing, when I Alt+Shift it auto switch to MS-Pinyin, not ABCD (Manually switch from MS to ABCD gets annoying).
In WinXp/Win7 I only need to manually switch to ABCD once, and the system remembers it, but Win8 for some reason automotcally load the language list on every start up =/
Also in WinXp/Win7, I can delete MS-PinYin while keeping ABCD (so I only have English and ABCD), but Win8 doesn't allow me to do that as I must have MS-input or the second line (highlight in green) in language perference doesn't even appear.
There are some additional points/details.
1 - I must set Chinese as "Language for non-... Read more

A:NO INPUT SUPPORTED--Desktop Computer Stuck On Input Not Supp...

Hi there @145755, I hope you find your Support Forum experience a positive one!  It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel.  I understand that you have changed a setting on your computer and now the display is not working.  I am happy to give you a hand with this. Please post the full product number for your computer. See the following, if you need help with that information.  HP Desktop PCs - How Do I Find My Model Number, Serial Number or Product Number? I would suggest you try to start your computer in Safe mode to load basic screen settings. See this document: HP PCs - Windows Safe Mode (Windows 10, 8). As you are unable to see the display properly at this time you will need to follow the process described for "Entering Safe Mode without access to Startup Settings".  If you are able to get in, then make the needed adjustments to your display settings, then restart your system normally to see if the display will come up properly. If not try a different screen resolution. Please let me know whether that works for you, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. Kudos would also be appreciated.

I have an A530 that will not connect when using the PC input, but the HDMI out port works fine.  So I attempted to connect to an external monitor and it worked.  So I know the actual HDD is working and that the computer is running properly. I then took an HDMI cable and ran it from the HDMI out port to the HDMI in port and the screen is now receiving the signal from the PC. So now I know both the PC and the A530 screen are working. The PC is out of warranty. Any idea why this is happening?  I currently have an HDMI cable connecting the in/out ports and the computer works, but I'd like to go back to it just using the pc and have an available HDMI port.

Hey all, I've been having this issue for a while in OneNote and Drawboard (because it happens in these 2 applications I believe it's a platform=laptop issue and not applications):1. I put annotations on top of PDF printouts in OneNote and in Drawboard PDF using my pen in tablet-like keyboard position2. Right after that touch input stops working for a while, as if it was not touch-enabled device. After 5-15 secs it comes back to life3. This issue does not reproduce when keyboard is in laptop position Has anyone had a similar issue on the same laptop/other Lenovo laptops? My system is a BestBuy-specific sister version of Yoga 14". Thanks,Danil

Windows automatically updated last night before shutting down. When I turned on the computer this morning, the HP w2207h monitor was not functioning properly. Each time I rebooted, I received the message "HDMI Input: No Input Signal" before the monitor went to sleep.

I do not believe it is a problem with the sleep and display settings as I have dual monitors and the EN9910 is functioning properly; both are set to NEVER anyway. Further, I have plugged our SONY television into the HDMI port and it works just fine.

I have also plugged the monitor into another computer, using the same cable, and both worked just fine. The hp monitor also functions in the utility mode. Problem seems to exist only when Starting Windows.

This has happened once before with a Windows Update, but I don't recall the solution.

Please help.

A:HDMI Input: No Input Signal -- Monitor Going to Sleep

Hello and welcome aspen can you just make sure the driver for that monitor is ok.

Software & Driver Downloads HP w2207h 22 inch LCD Monitor | HP? Support

But mate I also think you may have answered it yourself in another way. Can you remember when this started happening? If so system restore back to before that date.

Then it is just a matter of downloading any updates if this is what is - one or two at a time until you find which one is the culprit. Make a not of that one and each time it comes up untick it to download / install.

A:Laptop with HDMI Input, but no program to watch the Input

you can try any of the tuner software and see if that works. things like Windows Media Center, XBMC, MediaPortal, GBPVR.

video editing software like Adobe Premiere. the best, easiest, and cheapest bets would be to try the tuner software first.

I've been fiddling with this on and off for months, but I don't  know if the problem is with the touchscreen, Windows 10, the drivers, my software, or some combination of those, so none of my troubleshooting has really gotten me anywhere. I bought the Flex 5 and the active pen intending to use the touch screen like a Cintiq monitor, in addition to the Huion graphics tablet I already own, but any pen input just reacts like touch input, making imposible to work comfortably in any painting/animation programs. I also can't figure out a setup that will let me use the active pen and my tablet at the same time; Huion and Wacom drivers don't seem to play nice with each other, so I can't have them both installed at once if I want either of them to be recognized in my software and have pressure sensitivity. I have turned off "tablet mode" in Settings, and in the Control Panel I've disabled "Flicks" and "press-and-hold to right-click". Regardless, using either the active pen or my tablet (which doesn't even interact with the touch screen) will make my computer react like I'm using my finger -- same visual feedback, press-and-hold still right-clicks, dragging with the pen will scroll around the webpage/canvas, etc. Depending on the software I'm using and which drivers are currently installed I can sometimes draw and get pressure sensitivity, but I'll still keep accidentally triggering touch commands with the pen that interrupt my work flow. Even if it's at the cost of touc... Has any one modified a Power Suply to Take 12 volt DC Input?

I would very much like to hear from you, or any one you may of heard of that has done this.

I wanted to Put a desktop case etc. in my car and use it to listen to music...

Thanks to anyone who replies...

A:DC Input Power Supply (12 volt input)

A standard Computer PSU rectifies the incoming mains (120 or 240 volt) and the "chops" it in a switchmode type power conversion.

Therefore as it starts with a high DC voltage (120 or 240 V AC rectified to DC) there is no easy conversion to make it use 12 V instead. Without a complete rebuild and redesign of the PSU.

By far the cheapest and easiest way is to use an off-the-shelf 12 V inverter that converts 12V to 120 or 240 V AC, and then you dont need to bother rebuilding the power supply from scratch.

Has the advantage of easily sourced power supply units for the PC. You would likely get away with a small 200 Watt unit.

If you have an HDMI OUTPUT on your PC, on many you have to manually set the HDMI on the Video card as the default playback device, rather than the usual "speakers". Go to the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Sound Panel and on the Playback you will probably have an icon for the HDMI, select that as the default playback device and you should get the PC audio in the HDMI signal.

I have an HP Pavilion A6421.uk computer with an HP w2007v monitor. (The OS is Windows Vista).I've been getting the message "VGA Input - No Input Signal" and the monitor appears to be in sleep mode permanently. I've checked all the connections, cables etc and I have also connected the monitor to an old computer, where it worked fine. I'm guessing I need a new graphics card but don't know how to go about changing it. I have
opened up the box and cleaned it all out, but am not sure what to do now.

Could I take out the graphics card from the old computer and put it in the new one? The old computer is a Dell Dimension 5000 (Windows XP).
Or would it be an option to swap hard drives? (I urgently need to access my work but the old computer got a virus and doesn't work properly).I don't know the first thing about hardware really, so wondered what any of you would recommend I do:
1. Just buy a new graphics card and replace the old one - in which case, what would I buy?
2. Put the graphics card from the old machine into the new one. How do I do this and does anyone have any diagrams?
3. Swap the hard drives so that I use the old box with the new monitor. (this is probably a stupid idea, but who knows).

Please help!!

USB, even USB3 was never meant for transferring large amount of data needed for HD video, too much conversion has to be made. Laptops are limited by number and type of outputs but desktops can accommodate multiple video cards and even basic cards with Display port that use power of existing GPUs to provide video signal to more monitors or TVs.

Dim piesky As Double

piesky = InputBox("amount to find", , 196.96)

If IsNumeric(piesky) Then v = 1 Else Exit Sub
If piesky = "false" Then Exit Sub
If piesky = "" Then Exit Sub
If piesky = 0 Then Exit Sub

piesky is used to find row number

In blue is the code I tried. Nothing seems to work and if cancelled or blank entry gives an error

Why am I diming the input as Double? Cause nothing else works to find a $196.96 amount in a column
with my program except the double. Column is formatted to accountancy.

A:input box error when using double as input

Okay guys, found a solution, the best I could with my limited knowledge.

dim wonky as double
userinput=inputbox (" xxxxxxx")
if userinput="" then exit sub

this then finds sums in a col like 99.99 which if the input is normal or currency or whatever
does not work in my program. Perhaps there is another dim function that can be used
that does not require all the above

Its saying that there is no video signal, which idicates that the computer has probably not even booted up?

Is the computer actually booting (keyboard lights flash, HDD light flicking) after you power it on?

I just used Ad-aware 6.0

And I did some checking on a few items that showed up in there -
not sure how to explain it but here it goes

I found listed there - vx2 Better Internet bi.ini
- 180 solution
and in my registry - Alexa
- eAcceleration
- people on page
- WinFavorites
Ad-aware 6.0 said this
- 27 running processes
- 19 objects recognized
- 0 objects ignored
- 0 processes identified
- 12 registry keys identified
- 2 registry values identified
- 2 files identified
- 1 folder identified

Can anyone try to explain what this means so I may know - Thank you for your help. Hope I explained it right ,what I am asking

A:need some input please

Whatever Ad-Aware finds you can delete in safety. The 19 objects is bad stuff and tracking cookies. The running processes (27) are normal stuff that runs on you computer like virus checking and such.Ad-Aware will not touch these. Just keep hitting the "Procead" button. If you dont feel happy about something you can put it in quarrentine, but as I said,Its all safe to delete.

Hey all, anyone that has moved into an SDD??

1. Have you noticed any differences from the traditional hard drive?
2. If so, are the differences enough to warrant the price?

A:SDD Input

If you are referring to SSD's yes they are worth the money if you buy a quality one. I use Intel and Samsung.

Once you use a SSD you will wonder what took you so long to do so.
SSD is probably the most single one thing you can do to a computer to increase the speed.

If you want facts, charts, graphs and testimonials just Google.

Hello To All ,

I have a friend who had upgraded her desktop from Win 10 from Win 7 , now that Win 7 was a upgrade from Win Vista Pro 64 bit , the desktop is a 2009 model Dell

Now the desktop has major issues

#1 keeps dropping drivers , even in compatibility mode mainly video & sound

#2 freezes during boot , have to do a hard shut down then boots fine

#3 printer issues

#4 drops the internet connection during use , mainly during downloads

The desktop is free from infection thru various scans by several programs , it has F-secure , C-cleaner , Super anti spyware , plus scanned by other programs

What she would like to know is would she be able to get the free upgrade to window 7 after the system disks are used to reformat her system back to Vista

She has passed the time limit on the ability to roll back to the win 7 upgrade from the win 10 upgrade

I don't think that she will but she thinks it will be able to , I am the one that will be doing all the work

The desktop ran awesome with win 7 , no issues what so ever

any advice /help would be awesome

Hey everyone, I`d just like some input on what part I should get next from the 3 I`ve picked out.

HP W2371d Black 23" 5ms Widescreen LED Monitor 250 cd/m2 1000:1 - Newegg.com

A:Need your input on what I should get next.

The choices are:
1) Go SLI
2) Get a second HP 23" like your first
3) Double your ram

To me I would add the HP while you can get a similar monitor. Watch for the others to hit the sales bins and I would grab what ever hits the bin first. To me I'm not sure you'll see huge gains from 32 gb of ram unless your setting up a huge ram drive. So monitor first, SLI next and Ram last unless sales bins force a revision !

I need your help, please.

I currently have Vista on a recently purchased desktop computer at home running 64 bit -- whatever that means. Not too long after getting the computer I set-up some strict parental controls on the system -- I have two teenage boys. Of course, to do that I needed to set a password on the system. Well, long story short, I forgot the password which has now wrecked havoc on us since my wife and I cannot access many harmless websites -- stupid Vista, stupid me. I've done all the work-arounds and suggestions that every Vista expert has told me to do to fix the problems and it still doesn't work. I've spent a lot of time on the internet (on my laptop) seeking help with no resolve. Now, everyone is telling me I need to reinstall Vista to fix it and have been meaning to do that until I heard all the good things about Windows 7.

My question is, if I install the Windows 7 up-grade (after backing up everything I can) on this computer, will the system still be password protected to the hilt or will the the up-grade remove the password protection set-up?

Your input would be greatly appreciated.

Additional question: If I wipe the computer by deleting Vista and purchase the Windows 7 upgrade, will the computer accept the upgrade and install it, or will it balk and tell me that I need the full version of Windows 7?

okay, so first things first. im not positive that i posted this in the right area (if not my apologies) okay now moving along to my issue, i leave my pc running almost 24/7 and occasionally turn it off just to give it a little break. but recently ive been hearing things as i sleep coming from my computer, not from the computer itself, but the computer speakers. like the little noise windows makes when you click something and its loading it, along with other noises of the sort. and every morning when i wake up and look at my computer, my icons are all re-arranged up in the upper left corner of my screen, and i set it back to how i normally have them (running down the left side in columns) and its fine all day until i go to bed then i hear the noises and wake up the next morning with my icons re-arranged again in seemingly the same order as the night before. any ideas as to why it may be doing this? my norton virus protection has been expired for 3 months or so now i havnt had an opportunity to renew it, but there is no sort of problems or slowness or anything of that sort while its running during the day. any input would be appreciated, thanks!

IBM ThinkCentre S50
PS/2 Keyboard USB Mouse
Windows XP

After a year of perfect operation, this machine ceased to respond to
keyboard or mouse at the log-in screen.

-Numlock light stuck on.
-no light response pushing Num, Caps, or Scroll keys.
-no error beeps from too many key presses if I keep banging on the key board.
-Mouse pointer is present but no movement.
-*Windows is not locked up.* If I hit the soft power switch, the OS does
return the little pop-up box that says "Windows is now entering sleep mode"
-*It doesn't seem to be hardware* The keyboard works fine in BIOS, linux boot, and even the Windows safe mode selection screen. But if *any* Safe mode is selected, the input devices shut down at the log-in screen again.
-Have already run "last working configuration" from safe mode. No effect.

SO the only interaction I can currently have with Windows is what ever I can
access after booting from a CD (basic command prompt function, registry
editing and whatnot).

What say you? Am I doomed to spending the time to salvage user files and
then nuke and reinstall, or is there some hope of fixing this with my current,
limmited access?

Thanks for grinding on my puzzle a bit,

All I've ever know for antivirus is Norton, whether thats a good thing or bad. A friend brought in her daughters Laptop, and said it was running very sluggish. I ran Ewido on it, and it fixed over 230 infections.

For an antivirus client they use a product from http://pcsecurityshield.com/ called "The Shield". According to their site, The Shield Delux protects against virus's and spyware.

After running Ewido and letting it do it's thing, I ran an update on her AV client.

My question to the group is, Are all AV equal. I know you usually get what you pay for whether it's clothes, cars, or AV clients...

The mom told me that if I didn't think this client was good enough, then I should un-install it, and order what I feel is a good client.

If I'm not mistaken, Symantec, has a product that checks for virus's and spyware. Thinking of going that route.

Any suggestions.

Can you give us some ideas how much sp1(rc) improves your systems ...?
Give and take each system is different from one another ,so we all have general ideas what to expect when the RTM shows up .

My computer only has one microphone input in the back of it (it does not have any "line in" inputs or anything). Recently, I tried to plug an external amplifier into that microphone input (i know you aren't supposed to do that). And now since then, my microphone will not work properly. I can hear very faint mic audio coming out of only my left speaker, but it is not being recognized in any recording programs. And also, what little volume I have is being controlled by the "line in" slider in volume control. I don't understand this as I don't even have a "line in" input. I have spoken to numerous "experts" through compaq's site, but I am convinced that I know more about computers than they do. I have tried every simple method possible. In other words, no, my microphone is not muted, yes it is plugged it. Also I have uninstalled and reinstalled multimedia on my computer as well as my ESS Allegro sound drive. Is there any other more "complicated" solution that someone out there knows how to help me with this???? by plugging in this external amplifier, did i switch something over that needs to be switched back???? please someone help me, i am going insane. lol.. thank oyu so much if you help me.

Can you expand on "plug an external amplifier into that microphone input"?

I suspect though you have fried the mic input and the volume you get on "line in" is just crosstalk. Solution - new sound card.

import java.io.*;
class test
public void BufferedReader(Reader in)
BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new FileReader());

I'm reading the java docs, but this is all I can come up with. am I even close?? buffered Reader is what asks for the input rigt? how do I make it come out?

help help. just a simple concept.
if not buffered reader? what do I use, and how?

Ok guys. Problem. On my HP, stock HP monitor, it shows no vga input. I have an nvidia 9500gt, bought it like a year or two ago. I just recently put my pc back up, got windows 7, etc. A few days ago i got the memory_management bsod. So i was like what the hell? Kept getting it, even in safe mode. Deleted a virus, still came back. So here's what i did. reseated ram, reseated cmos battery, power cleaned the computer, tested the dvi port, tested it on two monitors one including my tv. I am totally stumped. I dont want it to be a bad gfx card cuz then thats plus or minus 300 $ i dont have to shell out at the moment. ever since i bought the card, when i would start up my pc the gfx card would make a weird kinda "groaning" noise that was really loud. just today when i cleaned it, and i spun the gfx card, the noise would be there. it was like the thing that spins the fan was old. I need MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR help! Someone please tell me a logical answer/solution/fix to this messed up problem. If i get pissed any more, its out to best buy to get a brand new gaming pc. ( yes i use pc to game ) thank you everyone

I have a Dell XPS 8700 win 8.1 and was trying to install a usb 3.0 video grabber device (Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle). It turned out the new windows 8 usb driver stack doesn't support this, so I tried to force install the old Windows 7 Intel usb 3.0 driver (disabling driver signing and hacking the .inf files), but alas! the computer now gets no usb input meaning I have no means of controlling it. I'm stuck at the wallpaper before logon. Any ideas how I can get back in and revert the driver?

Thanks in advance,

A:No usb input

in the device manager click on view at the top and in the dropdown
show hidden devices
then uninstall all listed usb items
turn the computer off
unplug usb plugs
reboot twice
replug in the usb plugs

if this gets you back to normal in win8

go into the properties of Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle)

and try running in win7 compatability mode

I have a TCL 55 inch 4k smart tv (55s401 series) and there is a massive input lag from my computer to tv. I've put it into gaming mode but that only changed it's slightly, I've also turned off features and nothing really helps.

I have checked my graphics card on my computer and it does support 4k output, HDMI cord is good at least to my knowledge. My question is if you've experienced this problem how did you end up fixing it or if anyone has any knowledge of how to fix it please let me know I've tried everything I could think of.

So I'm looking to buy a new hard drive. I'm looking at two internals and external.

WD Blue 6TB 5400 RPM - $145
WD Black 6TB 7200 RPM - $220
WD 10TB My Book External (5400 RPM) - $208
The prices listed are from Amazon and rounded up to the nearest full dollar.

Obviously the internals will be faster as they're SATA and generally the better choice. Unfortunately neither the Blue or Black have a 10TB option. I would get the external without hesitation but I'm a little hesitant after reading some of the reviews. Quite a few talk about their external not working after arrival or failing quite soon.

Currently I have a WD 4TB external always plugged in and it's running out of space just like my 2TB internal. With how I've never had an issue with my external after all this time I don't see why the 10TB would but said reviews make me wary. I do have room in my tower for a second internal and I do have an extra SATA cable. Just highly doubtful that 6TB will be enough room.

I would like input on which one would be the suggested one to get out of the three and why. Just to say I did look at the WD Red 10TB but it's even more expensive than the 10TB external and not really needed for a home PC.
