T530 + TYPE 4337 DOCKING STATION: 3X MONITOR CONFIGURATION

Q: T530 + TYPE 4337 DOCKING STATION: 3X MONITOR CONFIGURATION

Hello,I've been trying to get my T530, and Type 4337 to extend desktop display to 2 external monitors, and the laptop screens. I can get any 2 of them to show the desktop but the 3rd is always dark. Using the Windows Display Configuration tool will not allow me to "Apply" any changes made to the monitors configuration; i.e. extending the 3rd monitor. Any suggestions? Regards!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi guys! I'm about to buy a 4337 docking station for my T400 (I figured out that it should work with it). So I was wondering is it possible to use two external monitors and the laptop's monitor at the same time by connecting the first external monitor in the VGA port of the station and the second monitor in the VGA port of the laptop. Any ideas?

Hello, I am happy with my T520 - i7 Quad core andI would like to buy a docking station for home. I am going to connect only one monitor to this dock. I understand the differencies between 4337 and 4338 models, but actually I use 4337 dock with two monitors and 90 W adapter from one year and I have no problems. After readigng ThinkWiki and some posts I understand that I have to use 4338 model. Unless it is working I am okay, but I am confused about the preformance. Do you guys think that there may be issues with performance  doe to the lower than recommended power supplying. Thank you!

Hi folks!I'm using my t430s in several areas, such as my parents house, or even at home, workplace, coffe shops, etc.... Well, at my parents house, i'm using a type 4336 docking station, with an old sharp FHD external tv hooked to the vga output.. And i used to activate it with fn+f7, when it's needed to show anything, when its necessary.... I have updated the windows lately, but after it the settings gone insane, and when i connect the laptop to the 4336 it sends the screen to the external, and need to change it back to laptop lcd by pressing the mentioned keys before. It is pretty frustrating, and i don't find the setting, which i was able to find before the update. It did the same way after the previoius update too.can somebody please help?I'm soo dissapointed in the new windows stuff by now. I used win 7 x64 for a looooong time, but.... the system came with win8 so its free os for me, and deceided to use it instead of 7. It was a mistake i know... Thank you in advance!carrEdit: I just noticed, if i close the lid, the secondary monitor is becoming the primary, and it turns itself on. How did this gone so bad?! :@

I have a T530 for work and it came with a Mini Dock Series 3 docking station provided by my company. I just recently purchased a T470 for personal use and clearly the mini dock isn't compatible with the bottom of my T470. Is there such a dock out there that I could easily swap between laptops since I don't have the desk space for two setups nor the time to swap out cables every time I need to swap?

Does Lenovo sell a compatible docking station for the USB Type-C port? I am looking for a ethernet port, video port (HDMI & VGA) and multiple USB 3.0 ports on a dock that connects to the new USB Type-C port.

A:USB Type-C docking station for Yoga 900

As far as I know, Lenovo currently doesn't offer a USB Type C docking station for the Yoga 900. As you can't charge the Yoga 900 using the USB Type C port, you have to plug in two cables anyway. You might consider buying this adapter by Dell: http://www.amazon.com/Dell-Adapter-Type-Ethernet-470-ABQN/dp/B012DT6KW2 Unfortunately, it only has one USB 3.0 port, but it offers one HDMI, one VGA and one Ethernet port as desired.

I would like to add an additional monitor, but from what I read the vga on the laptop is disabled while docked, so is this possible,  can I use the mini display port while it?s docked for an additional display?  Or can I use the dvi port and get a dvi to vga adaptor or a dvi to hdmi adaptor on the docking station while it?s docked?

These docking stations do not have the dvi port so we have to have dvi to display port adapters. We have a lots of these c2g cables that are dvi to DisplayPort but only about 20% of the time the cable gets detected by the laptop when it's docked. The other 80% of the time the laptop does not see the monitor when it's connected to the dock. But when the cable is connected to the laptop itself it works fine. So we know it's a problem with dock. I called hp and we updated to firmware 2.3 and updated the video drivers but nothing work. Apparently there is a known problem with this docking and the displayport. Now the HP premium support technician L2 is saying hp does not support third party cabling companies and you have to use on of their cables and if you have trouble with one the hp cables/ adapter they will then look into it.Has anyone else ran into this? If there is a known problem with the docking station where it's not allowing other cables to work and only their cables to work now is that allow? Does anyone know of a brand of adapter/cable that works. We have tried other cables and adapter and keep having the same problem.

I have a 17" Widescreen Sony VAIO laptop w/docking station (VGN-A190; Intel Pentium M 1.70 GHz; 1GB RAM; ATI RADEON 9700 64MB). Its a great computer which I've had for about 3 years. Still runs great! But unfortunately my laptop screen is beginning to die. It will only stay on for a few minutes before the back light turns off and you can't see anything. So instead of buying a new screen ($500), i went and bought an LG Flatron to hook up to my docking station using a DVI-D connection. Sort of a makeshift desktop set-up. I got it all hooked up and boom, got a nice clear picture. Except its got a 1in black border that runs equally around the picture. I tried playing with the resolution but the max i can go to is 1280 x 768. Is the connection from my laptop to the LCD monitor keeping my new monitor from capturing all the resolutions that the Laptop normally has by itself? How can i get the picture on my LCD to fill the screen? When i hook the monitor up to the docking station i only get three resolution choices: 800 x 600, 1024 x 768, and 1280 x 768. Appreciate any help!

Strangest thing happened suddenly.  I have a co-worker with two matching HP 24" monitors connected to her HP 2012 90W Docking station.  Once with VGA, the other with DVI.  Both monitors were working fine, but suddenly only ONE will display an image.  The other monitor keeps flashing that it is going into power saving mode.  MON1 = VGAMON2 = DVI If I unhook the VGA cable from MON1, MON2 displays fine. If I unhook the DVI cable from MON2, MON1 displays fine. If I swap the cables around (make MON1 connect via DVI, MON2 via VGA) the issue is the exact same.  I have 3 of these docking stations laying around and I've tried all of them and they all do the same thing.  I've tried differnet VGA and DVI cables and the issue persists.  I installed HP Support Advisor to download and install drivers and still nothing.  How here's the real kicker: If I remove one of the monitors and connect an old 19" HP monitor up, BOTH WORK FINE!!!!!!!!!!!  All of the troubleshooting I've done only confuses me more... I'm completely stumped.  Anyone give me any instruction or advise?

Hello Community, appologies in advanced if this appears a little off, it is my first post here. Here is the following set up I want. My Laptop only came with ONE HDMI out, no VGA out and no DVI or any additional Video port. For my set up in my home office I need at least a second output to run my two monitors .My basement setup controlls a little mor and I need dual monitors and a port to duplicate the last screen to my projector.I could run my laptop as one screen and the other one duplicates the projector, but that would be inconvenient.I spotted two universal HP docking station to plug in the USB 3.0 port, but the first seems to be to weak for my purposes. Option 1:https://www.amazon.com/HP-3005PR-USB-Port-Replicator/dp/B008KMDVPQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1474938242... Option 2 :http://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/business-solutions/hp-zbook-200w-thunderbolt-3-dock-p5q61ut-aba But Option 2 seems very buggy, but has enough ports. If not something from HP, I might have to go with a competitor :https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Display-UltraHD-Universal-D3100/dp/B00O0M46KO/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=147... Please help with advices. Thank youB

Hey folks. I've read similiar postings, but this is slightly different. I've got a HP Compaz NX9010 laptop running Windows XP on a docking station with an HP external monitor hooked up. The external monitor works fine with or without the laptop closed, but the external will not run video streams or saved video files. Video will only run on the laptop screen. The only way I can get video to run is to use the <function> toggle keys and disable the laptop screen which has to be done each time the laptop is booted. Is there any way to fix the settings so that this does not have to be done each time I'm docked? Thanks for any assistance or ideas you might have.

I have an x260. I was looking to use it with a docking station with a 34" monitor and 24" monitor. From looking at x260 specs it appears that the maximum resolution for an external monitor is 3840x2160. The resolutions for the 34" and 24" monitors are 3440x1440 and 1920x1080 respectively. My questions are: 1. Each monitor is below the max x260 resolution, but the combined monitor setup is above the max resolution. I had seen indications that the max resolution was "per monitor" - is this true? Wanted to confirm that I would be able to run both monitors before purchasing a new monitor. 2. Is there a best docking station setup to drive 2 large monitors like this? Wasn't sure if some docking stations for multiple monitors strain system resources more than others - I am planning just to do office work, no gaming or other tasks that would require high performance. Thanks!

I recently upgraded to Windows 10 Enterprise 64-bit and I'm having trouble connecting to 3 via the HP 120 W advanced docking station. I was able to do this in the past without issues when I was running Windows 7. I'm on a ZBook 15 (1st Gen) I know the laptop has 2 display adaptors: NVIDIA Quadro K2100M, and Intel HD Graphics 4600. When connected to the docking station, I usually ran 2 monitors through the NVIDAI via Display Ports, and the 3rd through the Intel adapter via VGA. Now, after upgrading to Win 10. If I boot the laptop in the dock, it says there is an issue with the Intel graphics adapter, so I'm only able to use the NVDIA and therefor only 2 screens. I've tried updating/reinstalling drivers for both adapters but nothing seems to work. Tried versions from NVIDIA, Intel, and from HP Directly. Whats funny is that if I boot up the laptop BEFORE I connect it to the docking station, everything works fine. Once I dock it all three monitors will come up and work just fine. So I do have a workaround, but it is a little inconvenient  Any Ideas what the issue could be, maybe I have something misconfigured in the BIOS? I think I tried changing a few settings related to hybrid displays, but no luck...

I have a new LG ultra wide monitor that has support for HDMI and DisplayPort that I cannot seem to get working.  I have tried connecting the displayport cable to the dock and montior and I do not get a signal at all.  I have also tried the HDMI connection but I cannot get the resolution to the recommended 2560 x1080. Any direction would be very helpful/.

A:Dell XPS with Docking Station and LG Ultra Wide Monitor...

DisplayLink can support that resolution, but the D1000 is a very old dock that uses a very old DisplayLink chipset, and that particular chipset probably doesn't.  However, even with a newer version of DisplayLink such as would be found in the D6000 dock, DisplayLink would give you an inferior experience at that resolution anyway if you ever did things like gaming or full-screen video.  You really want your display to be directly controlled by the GPU.  So, considering that you have a 9550 that has a Thunderbolt 3 port, you have two options:
- Buy a USB-C to DisplayPort adapter, which would tap into the native GPU DisplayPort output wired to that port.
- If you want to have everything connected to a dock, buy either a WD15 or TB16 dock.  Either one would allow the attached display(s) to be driven directly by your GPU rather than through DisplayLink, and unlike your D1000, these docks can additionally charge your system via their USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 cable, so you'd have a true single-cable solution.  The WD15 allows a single display of that resolution (or dual 1080p), and the TB16 allows up to dual 4K displays or three 2560x1600 displays.  Since you have an XPS 15 9550, with the WD15 you'd need the 180W adapter version and with the TB16 you'd need the 240W adapter version.

I am using a company issued HP Probook with an HP Docking station and HDMI cords hooked to two ACER LCD Screens. I have the exact same set up at my office and at home with all the same equipment. I often leave work and get home and connect my notebook to the docking station only to have an issue with the monitors coming on. (I shut my computer down before i leave the office)  What happens is they turn on.. the windows logo comes up on both screens as if its goning to load and turn on but then they go back to sleep and wont turn on again. I have found a fix to this but i have to do it every time i switch between my work set up and home set up.. I have to force shut the computer down while connected to the docking station and then turn it back on and they turn on just fine. I have to do this every time I switch between the two workstations so i often just refuse to log in from home because its a hassle. What i would love to do.. and what my coworkers seem to be able to do is just lock the computer, go home and dock the notebook and the monitors come on automatically.  Any help or ideas on what to try is appreciated!

I'm considering buying a docking station to go with my T480 but I'm not certain what solution is best for me.I want to connect two monitors, one runs [email protected] (VGA or DVI) and the other [email protected] (VGA or HDMI). Initially I was considering the 'ThinkPad USB-C-dockingstation (40A90090EU)' and use the VGA plus one of the DP ports with an adapter. However, when I was reading the display configuration options for this dock I came to the conclusion that this does not seem to be possible. (https://support.lenovo.com/nl/en/solutions/pd029622#USB-C%20dock) Browsing through the forum the second best option appears to be the 'ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Dock (40AC, 40AC0135XX)'. The advantage is that it supports higher resolutions and direct HDMI connectivity. What I read from the display configuration options my configuration should not be an issue. (https://support.lenovo.com/nl/en/solutions/pd029622#thunderbolt)However, I cannot confirm that this dock is compatible with a T480. I think it should be as the T480 manual lists one of the USB-C connectors on the left as Thunderbolt-3 compatible. Does anyone have experience with this combination of hardware or otherwise can someone confirm this solution is going to work? The docks are just to expensive for just giving it a try in my opinion.

Hi, We have the Elitebook 1040 G3 and UltraSlim Dock using Windows 7. I am using 2 HP Compaq LA2205wg monitors that one monitor is connected to VGA and the other Monitor is connected to DVI that is connected to a StarTech display port. Display Adapters: Intel(R) HD Graphics 520.The firmware of the Docking station: 2.30 which is most current firmware. After imaging the laptop and we dock the laptop on UltaSlim Docking station you only get the one monitor which is the monitor that is connected by VGA. The DVI/Display port acts like it is not connected to a monitor or anything. When you go to Control Panel > Display > Change Display setting > you see that the laptop is set to mirror what the 1st Monitor has, then on the second monitor if you look at "Multiple displays" you see that it says "Disconnect the display".  When I change it to  "Extend desktop to this display" Then hit Apply and yes, I get all 2 Monitors working which is good, I can restart/shutdown the laptop and I will get 2 monitors. This is not something we want to do every time I dock my laptop. The next problem that relates to the problem above is when we undock the laptop and it falls asleep for 20 minutes or more we come back to the first problem which is when we dock the laptop to turn it on the lid open or close it still only displays one monitor which is the VGA. We have tried numerous number of things and everything that we have tried doesnt seem to be working so i... I have a brand new X1 Carbon 6th generation, in a Thinkpad Pro Docking Station (40AH0135US), and the display ports will not connect to my monitor (LG 32UD59-B). However, when using HDMI on the side of the computer, the monitor has no issue. Please tell me what I am doing wrong. Thanks in advance for your time.

My Inspiron 15 5000 is hooked up to a Docking Station USB 3.0, which is hooked up to a U2410 Monitor via HDMI cable. I am not getting sound from the laptop speakers when I have the Docking Station hooked up. I tried what has been already mentioned. Like going to the control panel, sound, speakers, default. The Dell USB Audio is checked and showing sound in the bars, but no sound is coming out of the speakers in the laptop. Please help.
THANK YOU, Jim G.

A:Inspiron 5000 No sound when plugged into docking station and monitor

If USB Audio is selected, that would be the audio output jack built into the dock. You need to choose the Speakers/Headphones output as the default device to get audio from the built-in speakers.

Hi Can anyone tell me whether the Elitebook 2540p notebook or 2740p tablet can support dual monitors simultaneosly when used with a docking station I would assume that one monitor would be driven from the VGA socket, the other from DisplayPort If so, what range of screen resolutions are supported? I am looking to buying one of these models, but I need to know if this functionality is supported. ThanksJohn

A:Dual external monitor support with docking station on EliteB...

From HP: The key with supporting dual-monitors at the same time is that it requires that the notebook have dedicated graphics in there - which is not an option in the 2540p.  The first and smallest notebook to support this in the EliteBook line is the 14.0" 8440p - or we could look to the ProBook 6450b as another option too now. In a nutshell HP is being cheap or complacent.  I don?t get why they are sticking with Intel?s castrated graphics solution and why on the docking stations that do have deticated video like the fore mentioned 8440p they don?t enable 2 DVI-I (that?s Analog + DualLink Digital) instead of a single DVI-D and VGA. And the thing that really annoys me is that the intel intregated chip is capable of doing according to Intel own docs. AMD?s fusion can not come soon enough IMO.

I have the new X1 Carbon 6th Gen with the ThinkPad Ultra Docking Station (40AJ0135US) and have noticed any time I lock my computer and my screens turn off or my screens just turn off from the computer being idle for the set amount of time that when it comes back up that all my windows have moved to the main laptop screen. I have two monitors plugged in with DisplayPort to the dock and I use the laptop screen as the main screen. Has anyone else noticed this same issue? Any fixes?

I have a Dell laptop on a docking station running Windows 7. Everyday I place it on the docking station and use my 20 inch monitor. Is it possible to activate the dual monitor feature and use the 20 inch as the primary and use the open laptop as the secondary monitor? If so, what should my settings be?

A:How do I configure dual monitors with laptop on docking station and external monitor?

The value of 'Multiple displays' (see attachment) should be 'Extend these displays.' You may have to switch the positions of the two monitors (at the top of that window).

My Dell SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Docking Station Model: D3000 is connected to my Dell Inspiron 17R SE 7720 as well as two external Disk drives, an external DVD drive, Printer and speakers as well as an external Monitor.  Recently I took my laptop on a trip and when I returned, when I reconnected it to the docking station it no longer recognized my external monitor.
I have gone through several diagnostic steps not limited to unistalling and reinstalling the DisplayLink Software and accidentally bumped into only one action which seems to work - Power failing the Docking station (Pulling the power cord).  Unfortunately, this is a pretty serious action to take and the fix doesn't seem to stick as I have had my second monitor drop out after restarting my computer.
The bigger problem is that I spent over a week trying to figure out where to get support for the Docking Station and the DisplayLink Software.  It seems my only alternative is to call in and speak to Dell Tech Support, but this is very inconvenient because my work hours are the same time as Dell Technical Support but this is my personal computer.
P.S. One other problem I have with the Dell SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Docking Station is that the rubber feet on my Dell Inspiron 17R SE 7720 are outside the width of the Docking Station so the Laptop can not be positioned on top of the Docking Station because it slides right out.

A:Dell SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Docking Station Model: D3000 losing 2nd monitor connection

I thought I should update the Dell community in the hopes that a few users will read this BEFORE buying a Dell Super Speed USB 3.0 Docking Station.  I would update my review on the Dell site, but this is not supported by Dell, once a review is entered you can not update it.
Since my original post here I have experienced some even more frustrating failures.

Ethernet Connection fails - My Ethernet connection has failed, causing loss of connection to my router and obviously the internet.  I performed significant diagnostics and it finally came down to pulling the power cord to the Dell Super Speed USB 3.0 Docking Station.
New Router connection not recognized - I purchased a Netgear R6300 WiFi Router at the same time I bought the Dell Super Speed USB 3.0 Docking Station, unfortunately I can not get the device to work with the Docking Station in the loop.  It with the Dell USB 3.0 Docking Station.
Speaker Problems - I have encountered problems with my externally mounted speakers which I thought might be Windows 8 issues but eventually came down to problems with the Dell Super Speed USB 3.0 Docking Station, fixable in some instances by powerfailing the docking station.
Lack of Support - Trying to find out if this could be caused by software support I found out that the consumer is caught in the middle.  The Software providing the dual monitor support

In summary - I have found the Dell Super Speed USB 3.0 Docking Station to be a totally unr... Read more

I have a brand new Latitude E7470 that I'm trying to connect to a 4k monitor thorough an E-port plus II docking station. Unfortunately the image keeps blanking out on the monitor, at a variable rate between once a second and once every few seconds. I've tried both a displayport cable and a DVI-to-HDMI cable for the connection, and the result was the same. Changing the resolution did not help either.
I am running the latest BIOS and latest Intel graphics driver from the dell support page (both about a week old). (By the way, the BIOS update messes up the OS installation - buyer beware.)
I've tried many other combinations to trouble-shoot the issue:
1. Different laptops (E64xx), same E-port, same monitor -> works fine
2. Same E7470, different E-port (old USB 2.0), same monitor -> monitor blinks
3. Same E7470, same E-port, different brand 4k monitor, different DP cable -> monitor blinks
4. Same E7470, same E-port, monitor switched to DP 1.1 -> monitor stays black
5. Direct connection between the E7470 and the monitor via HDMI -> works (but only at 30 Hz due to HDMI limitation)
So the conclusion is that the combination of E7470 + E-port + 4k monitor doesn't work, regardless of the exact monitor or exact E-port. That leaves the E7470 as the only logical culprit.
Is this problem a design limitation of the E7470, a known driver issue or a faulty notebook?
Thanks in advance!

A:Latitude E7470 produces flashing/blinking image on 4k monitor connected to docking station

I am also having a similar problem with my 7470. Newest bios and drivers are installed. Happens on both the laptop's screen and using an external monitor through a docking station.
Seems to start after the monitor has been turned off due to PC activity. Can fix it with a restart OR by changing the resolution and changing it back. Both highly annoying options. Switching from external to laptop screen does not fix it, it will continue.
my external screen is using a DVI connection from the dock to the monitor which is also DVI so I am not using some kind of adapter. Removing the connection from my KVM does not resolve the issue either.
