I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I just bought an second hand X1C4 (in Germany). The serial number is written in the BIOS (there is no label on the back). However this SN can neither be validated in the warranty database, nor be found in the product support site. I don't think that I can return it now.In which case this can happen? Is it possible that this SN is somehow wrongly flashed into the BIOS or can it be that this particular laptop is some kind of "illegal" article? Thanks!

Hi, I don't know if this applies to you.  I had a motherboard replacement on a IBM A30p and a W510 Thinkpad.  Both times after motherboard replacement I had problems with warranty validation.  On both of my cases after board replacement they put in the wrong serial number by putting in the letter "O" vs the number "0".  Since i still had the label and my purchase receipt i did not resend it in to IBM to fix the BIOS serial number.  Again i dont know if this applies to you.

So I have an issue with my t460s that turned out to be a broken LCD rear cover. I posted about it and got a good answer pointing me to very thorough instructions on how to fix it:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-T400-T500-and-newer-T/T460s-loose-left-hinge-losse-from-screen... I found the part I need, it's part number 00JT994 LCD,Rear,Cover,WQHD. Now the problem is that the Lenovo shop assumes I am in the Unites States for shipping. And I am not, I am in Madrid, Spain. I am not sure what I did wrong, I started from the Spanish site with my registered user account. Then clicked on part finding and there all was in English, not a problem for me, but I think the shop assumes you are in the US from there. Is it possible to get support from Lenovo in Spain to buy this replacement part? How?

Another complaint for a broken hinge issue on the 5558 laptop. Of course Dell Service will tell you that there is no known issue for this problem but search the forum and you will find several complaints. Dell is doing nothing about this problem and in my opinion they are definitely side stepping the issue so they do not have to take care of their customers. Dell service claims that the defect is due to "Customer Induced Damage". Dell also claims there is no known issue for this defect so you will have to call the "Out of Warranty" department. The out of warranty department will charge you 160 bucks and take your laptop for 7 to 10 business days. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING for a laptop that is less than six months old and definitely does not have any customer induced damage.
Laptop purchased 5/13/16
Laptop broke 10/12/16
Spent an hour and a half with DELL chat - Session ID <private> - Result you are <profane>. DELL does not care if you have a defective product.
On my laptop, the actual hinge did not break but the laptop cover broke away from the hinge. Obviously the plastic cover mounting pads are not strong enough to handle the repeated torque on the joint when opening the laptop.

My Pixma MP 760 recently needed new ink. I replaced the cartridges, did the basic service options, printed successfully and shut it down. When I next turned the printer on, I had an error message that stated" Rear Cover The paper is jammed. Clear the paper andpress OK".

I checked and there was a piece of paper in the rollers, and Igently removed it. It was not torn.

However, when I pressed "OK" themachine whirred while a different screen message "Wait for a while" appeared. But the original error message reappeared.

I doubled checked the entire machine, tried the "menu/ scan/copy/scan" and cleared the servicememory, to no avail.

I have tried unplugging it, waiting and restarted but all I get is the same error message and there is no paper jam. Called Canon and they were unable to help and the closest service depot is 600+ miles away..not an option.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received!

My son dropped my T460s from a low drawer table (<50cm height). Right after that I checked and something must have cracked around the left screen hinge. I believe the hinge itself is not broken. Opening up the lid pulls the hinge properly and you don't see any problem: But when closing down the rear cover pushes the hinge and something is loose there, so it bends dangerously: Following some instructions on the internet I was able to remove the front adhesive screen bezel cover and check the screen hinge part. It all looked ok there. I also removed the exposed screen side hinge screws, and I did not see what was broken. Maybe that part is fine but it is detached from the rear cover somewhere else around there. This device is out of warranty, so I want to check what are my repair options:- What exactly is broken? Do I need a rear cover replacement?- Is it something doable by myself? I don't find videos from Lenovo on how to do this, only some amateurish one in Youtube.- If this is not enough information for diagnostic, what else should I inspect?- Is this something I could ask Lenovo to repair? How much would that cost? Any advice would be welcome. Thanks, Jose

I just purchased a X1 Yoga 2nd Gen with a high-end configuration.  In theory, this is my ideal computer for home (which includes a lot of computer modeling work in evenings and weekends).

But I just returned it because I was experiencing a cascade of mostly mouse-related issues.  At times, these issues all affected the TrackPoint, TouchPad an X1 external travel mouse, so they were not device-specific.

I first noticed the mouse would freeze, and display a tiny scroll-bar pointer.  When I'd try to move the mouse, the scroll bar gliff would shift from vertical to horizontal, etc... but the mouse would not move and could not be used.  I would have to force a reboot and repeat until the problem went away.  I seemed to minimize this problem by changing a mouse setting in Devices / Mouse Properties / Thinkpad.  Under Enable TrackPoint, I changed the Middle Button Action to "Use as middle click".  This seemed to improve things...

But then the mouse started rapidly drifting across the screen, and this drifting process would go on and on until I rebooted (often several times).  When the mouse was drifting -- always towards the upper-right -- it was essentially impossible to use the computer.

I also found that the mouse buttons would quit working frequently.  This was most common when I had other processes running.  But the CPU (and memory) was far from maxed out -- I had it at 30-40%.  This pro... Read more

Hey,

Here you can?t get part numbers because it?s a forum for Toshiba notebook owners only. So you can talk with normal people like you and me here.

If you need such technical details like part numbers you have to contact an authorized service provider in your country. The guys have access to Toshiba databases and can give you the exact part number and order this part too.

Good luck! :)

I'm modding an Optiplex 380 that someone gave me. I am missing two parts.
I am missing the side cover and the front drive cover.
Dell assigns a 5 or 6-character string to each part, for example a GTX 460SE from Alienware Aurora R4 is "GR23P".
This makes looking for specific parts easy.
I looked in the online manual and could not find the info I was looking for.
I don't necessarily need the side panel as I can make one myself but I need the plastic front cover that goes over the front drive cage.
It is similar to Part Number 0MJ126 but for the 380. Will this particular one work? It looks as if it will but you can never be too sure.
Here is an image:

A:What is the part number for the Dell Optiplex 380 side cover?

Looks like that fits mulitple models including the 380
www.ebay.com/.../272474219809
Dell generally doesn't list case parts (side panel) separately -- the case is a single unit.

I posted a similar question earlier and people referred me to the Yoga (much appreciated).  However, I was interested in the 2.6 lb carbon version with touch screen capabilities.  Asus has a Spin 7 model that is very good at 2.65lb, but I miss the red mouse toggle in the middle of the keyboard and Asus's track pad was designed too large....causing unintended tapping.  The Yoga, while nice, is heavier than I was looking for.  The 14 inch screen is about 3.3lb? the 12 inch at 3? I thought that some of the earlier Thinkpad Carbons had touch screen and was hoping they would make a return soon.  Thanks,

First off - warranty is out apparently.  Even though I remember checking the box for a 2 year extension, I am now being told I didn't and that I am SOL.  So that's one thing I'll deal with later...When trying to access the BIOS, I would only see a black screen.  I tried hooking an external monitor up to it, nothing, the monitor doesnt register until after the initial boot sequence. I then figured something must be up with the BIOS.  Went to Lenovo.com and found the updates, updated the BIOS along with everything else.  Still broken.    So I opened the bottom, disconnected the battery and the CMOS battery, held down the reset button on the motherboard for 10-15 seconds, did the same for the power button.  Put it all back together.  Hit the power button, see the Lenovo logo and then: System Security:  Bottom Cover Tamper DetectedSo now I am assuming it is asking for the password and the date, but the screen is blank.  I am now left with a completely bricked computer.  Whats even more awesome is that I noticed this when I was trying to fix the suddenly inoperable fingerprint scanner, tried updating the drivers/uninstalling/reinstalling/etc, then I was going into the BIOS to make sure it was setup properly in there....and thats when I noticied the BIOS only provided a black screen. The diagnostics screen did work before I opened the bottom cover, I ran a full diagnostic on everything anf found no... Two ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen2 TabletPCs will successfully boot into Windows 10 just fine from a hard poweroff.  But once in windows, if i choose Restart, it will hang at the "LENOVO" BIOS  level boot up logo with "To interrupt normal startup, press Enter".   Stuck at Lenovo BOOT BIOS initialization screen, right before handoff to the Operating System. "To interrupt normal startup, press Enter" At this point, pressing ENTER does not work.CTRL-ALT+DEL causes the screen to change shade for a moment, but effectively does nothing.Changing the UEFI settings to diagnostics results in black screen.Holding the power switch to force a poweroff, waiting a few moments, and then powering on results in a successful windows startup.  DevMGMT.msc does NOT see bluetooth and there is "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" entry under "Universal Serial Bus controllers".  I have run all automatic updates via "Lenovo Vantage" and the manual TPM update.   I can boot into the firmware setup and have had it revert to factory defaults and reverted to factory defaults for all security settings.   I even tried the Win10 repair startup problems, but it says it cannot fix this.

A:ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen2 does not Restart, requires hard power off. Stuck at Lenovo boot logo.

It looks to me like you have a faulty hardware issue or a serious driver issue. Try the Lenovo recovery to put the device back to the factory windows install. If that fails, I would think you have a hardware issue.
