Preferred Solution: Cannot load an audio file in IE11.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Suddenly today, IE11 stops working at load for just the Administrator user ID. The message says there is problem with the web page its trying to load. The web page is "cnn.com/#" and is the home page for this user in IE11. IE11 loads fine for the regular user which does not have admin privileges and will load the same URL with no problems. No addons for the admin user in IE11 and I can't get to the home page edit since the program won't load. Does anyone know where the start page for IE11 in W7 is stored? I've searched here and found no location. Thanks.

You can open IE's settings/options using the control panel (without starting IE).

Hi,

I have a problem with a Java enabled website not “loading”. Here are the details.
I am using WIN7 Pro, IE11. I have both Java 32 bit and 64 bit, version 45 installed. The Java “test your installation” verifies the install is good, and there are no other Java versions installed.
I type the website URL and click enter.  The opening screen of the website briefly flashes and then I am redirected to the Oracle page:  http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/index.html.
There are no “error” messages displayed or other hints as to why the website does not load. I cannot find any “help” information on the Oracle page.  I have enabled the IE tools setting to allow Java, but without any error message I am at a loss on where to look.
Any suggestion on why IE refuses to load the website and how to fix?

Additional information.  I also have Firefox installed and the website will load in Firefox ( after changing several settings) after “accepting” Java might harm my computer. So I know the website is capable of opening and the Java install is OK (at least for Firefox).

Thanks

Hi All.

We have a problem in my organisation where a few users are complaining about a very annoying issue.

They said that when they're working with Internet Explorer 11, with several tabs openned, some random page stops to load completely. If we try to reload the webpage, nothing happens. Any other website in the other tabs continuing to work.

If we try to close that tab, and then open a new tab to try to reload the same website, nothing happens.

The only way, so far, to fix it is to completely close the IE11 and start a new IE11 to reload the website. This is the only way we're getting any result.

There is no event in Event Viewer and nothing related to the program in the IE11 logs.

A few users have this problem, but the most users don't.

Any idea?

On 8 with IE10 there was no problem.
I could go to www.charter.net and successfully follow the link to TV Listings
After upgrading to 8.1 with IE11 there is a small problem. It only shows a spinning wheel and not the listings.

It does the same on another pc I upgraded to 8.1 from the store.
If I use Chrome, the TV Listings shows properly.

Any ideas or solution to fix IE11 without switching to Chrome for one page?

Thank you.

In IE11, you should be able to upper right corner to Tools then to Compatibility View settings, just click the Add button then just add that page to the list of pages that require compatibility mode.

I run windows 7 64bit on my core i3 Lenovo. I have both IE11 and Chrome installed.

About a week ago IE11 suddenly slowed down dramatically. At that stage I upgraded my Bitdefender Internet Security from 2013 to 2014 in an effort to resolve the problem, but without success.

I have tried a system restore, and defragged the hard disk. I also have CCleaner installed, and have run that.

What happens, is that IE11 takes ages to load, and then I get message along the bottom saying that the web page has had to be reloaded. After that I will often get a message saying that the page is being reloaded because of a long running script?? with the option to cancel the script.

Once the browser has loaded, it is almost impossible to use as the cursor keeps disappearing from the place where I am trying to insert text, and I have to push the left mouse key to get it back. One or two letters later it has gone again.

I am obviously doing this query in chrome, as I could never have completed the typing in IE

Any ideas??

Hi,
First post to technet, please forgive me if there may be some forum etiquette that I need to be aware of and have not followed in this post.
A bit of background to this topic, our client works predominantly inside a Windows Server 2012 R2 RDS environment that is managed by us as their support company. They use IE 11 version 11.0.9600.18817 (update version 11.0.47).
They have recently tasked us with trying to make the site https://www.360siteview.com accessible within their RDS environment using IE. Currently the site loads to a gray/black coloured page and nothing further happens. The site itself uses flash for most
of its functionality as far as I can see, and even in the problematic environment you can see a flash object has loaded in the background somewhat as you can see flash options in the right-click context menu of that page.
I have tried to replicate this problem in a fresh Server 2012 R2 VM with very little changes bar the Desktop Experience features to enable flash player on IE. I tried to access the site and had no issue doing so, all features of the page loaded and displayed
a sign in form. I then updated the IE11 browser to the same version as the client currently uses and was still unable to replicate the problem they encounter. The next step was to replicate IE options from their browser to the one inside the test VM and once
done I was still unable to replicate the issue they see.
At this point I have tried to get in touch with the company that... Read more

IE11 has switched off audio in video by default.
They have made:
Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Multi-Media Settings>Play Sound in Webpages unchecked by default.
Whilst it helps remove annoying autoplay video audio, user initiated video plays also have no sound unless you follow that fix above. Even the Group Policy on that doesn't have two options, one for blocking autoplay video sound, and another for enabling
audio in user initiated video play.
Is there a way of doing this yet?

Hello,
I'm currently in the process of testing/deploying IE11 in our environment and I've begun testing on the IE11 Enterprise Site List manager.
I've read that there are a few different ways to configure the XML file to apply via GPO per the article below.  HTTP, Local Network, Local File. (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/Dn640699.aspx)
In my isolated testing I've chosen to use the local file method which is very easy to setup and use on a testing machine.
It looks like we have the flexibility to choose how we apply the XML file, and I was curious what the best options are and why?  Also are there examples of each setup being used and the benefits/downsides to each?
Here's the options that I can see using:
1. HTTP - setup an IIS website to host the XML file.
2. Local Network (UNC) - setup a UNC path on our DFS where we store the current XML file and users would have read only access to that location.
3. Local File - We could just deploy the XML file via SCCM package/application when updates to the list are required.
Could anyone please point me towards some articles, etc, explaining the pro's and cons of these methods and why I might want to choose one over the other?  I'm leaning towards just using a DFS share and option #2 because it doesn't require us to maintain
an IIS site for it but I am curious to hear if there might be any downsides to this method, or benefits to going with another method.
Thanks!

I use Windows Server 2012 R2 and try to block the access to local drives.
Accessing the local drives is blocked through policy and works fine. However, people are able to access to the local drives when using the URL tab in IE11. By starting IE11 they are able to type d:\ for example and browse to files where I don't want them
to go.
Hopefully anyone knows if there is a group policy setting to disable this?
Adding NoFileRun to the registry doesn't seem to work by the way.
Any suggestions are welcome.

Hi,

Any ideas?

This is known to be an issue, and is intended (it is by design, i.e. it is deliberate) by MS.
The "local" PAC file (i.e. where you use a "file://....." URI/URL, is not supported and has been deprecated.
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ieinternals/archive/2013/10/11/web-proxy-configuration-and-ie11-changes.aspx
We use http://wpad/wpad.dat and it's fine. Also fine, is

Hello Everybody,?
we have some strange issues on some of our clients - approx. 5% out of 3.500 clients.?
We are using a PAC file to assign the Proxy Server to our clients.?
The PAC file itself is hosted on an IIS Webserver and works fine in various browsers, f.i. IE, Firefox and Chrome, but on some random clients IE kind of ignores the PAC file.?
So you can open our Intranet Sites but no external sites - so IE does access the site direct - as mentioned above because it is either ignoring the PAC file or it is interpreting in the wrong way and returns "DIRECT" instead of the Proxy.?
I recently connected to one client when the issue occurred and tested the following to access external sites (Intranet sites always worked)?
-PAC file configured in IE11: --> external sites did not work?
-entering the Proxy in IE11 directly: external sites worked?
-PAC file configured in Chrome: external sites worked?
-entering the Proxy in Chrome directly: external sites worked?
My problem is that i cannot find any Logfiles which tell me how IE is interpreting the PAC file and if it even tries to load it.?
Also the "alert" function which i used in the past to troubleshoot issues is not working in IE11 anymore - it is ignored.?
Restarting the client or resetting IE solves the problem but it comes back randomly.?
So my question to all of you is how would you try to troubleshoot this??
Is a Logfile of IE11 available or can be activ... Read more

Hi,

I'm trying to troubleshoot an issue with Internet Explorer and they way it handles opening file from the Internet. Sometimes it gives a prompt like this:

Which is great, I want to turn this on for all common document types (e.g. PDF, Word Docs, Zips). What I've found is you have to either untick the option 'Always ask before opening this type of file', or delete a registry key in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\AttachmentExecute
When I check my PC I find I don't have that option and the registry keys aren't present.

Could someone clarify this for me? I'm running IE11 and Windows 7.

Thanks

A:Always ask before opening this type of file - IE11

Hi,
In Windows 7, there is no the key AttachmentExecute by default. For this reason, Checkbox for "always ask before opening this type of file" is missing in the Download prompt window.
Actually, you can choose to add this key in your Registry by following txt, Copy them to notepad, then renamed as .reg file. After that, import to Registry.

I have an application for a local community chorus that provides access to a number of mp3 files for practice purposes. The web site uses sql, php, javascript and css.  I'm using html5 <audio> commands to play the audio files without plugins.
It works as desired in Google Chrome and Firefox but has a problem in IE11 (Version 11.0.9600.19155). In IE11, there is a delay of approximately 30 seconds during the first attempt to access and play an audio file.  The controls appear as desired
but the application just sits there for about 30 seconds before playing the audio file.  All subsequent attempts to access any audio file starts immediately.  This delay is particularly troublesome for me and problematic for my users.  Can anyone
shed light on potential causes?

Hi Everyone,

We have successfully deployed Enterprise mode for IE11 on Windows 7 machines using group policy and pointing it an UNC path. However, when we try to add new URLs to the file and try to save it, we get an error saying the file is being used. There
are always active connections to that file.

To get it to work, we need to stop sharing the file, write to the file and start the sharing again.

Is this how we manage the file? I am sure there must be a better way than stop sharing the file. Can someone please help us with this?

Thanks

Hi there,
Tearing my hair out with one.
Symptom: Internally hosted website does not display ? no error, nothing apart from a blank grey screen.
Our setup:
We use a proxy.pac file to direct external traffic through the proxy and all local traffic to return direct.
We have one internal website that uses a port number in the URL which has the problem, all other sites are fine e.g. http://172.16.80.50:8072/site/
Using no proxy or using the proxy direct works fine. So it is a problem with the .pac file not the proxy itself (shouldn?t be using it anyway).
Bizarrely Chrome and Firefox both work perfectly well using the pac file with this website, its only IE that has the problem and the problem affects every machine with IE.
I amended the pac file to include
isInNet(dnsResolve(host), "172.16.80.50:8072/site", "255.255.0.0")
in addition to
isInNet(dnsResolve(host), "172.16.0.0",  "255.255.0.0")
But it made no difference, what am I missing here?
Why is it only IE that has an issue?
Thanks

Hi guys,
We are having a problem with a customer that has File Downloads disabled for the internet zone but added our website into trusted websites (with file download enabled) and can't download files.
Our files are sent received on a javascript fuction as blobs and we are using msSaveOrOpenBlob in the case of IE11 but no matter what we try, even if our website is on the Trusted Sites we always get "hello.txt couldn't be downloaded".
The following is a quick and dirty sample of what we are doing. This works fine with file downloads enabled in the internet zone.
var content = "Hello world";
var filename = "hello.txt";
var blob = new Blob([content], { type: "text/plain" });
window.navigator.msSaveOrOpenBlob(blob, filename);

TL;DR;
We have a website with IE11 settings set to:
Internet Zone -> File Download disabled.
Trusted Sites -> File Download enabled.
Out site is added to the Trusted Sites zone.
With the function above we always get "hello.txt couldn't be downloaded", even though our website is on the Trusted Sites zone. If we enable file downloads on the internet zone this works just fine but for security reasons our customer can't do
that.
Any ideas?

We have a web application deployed at customer's server (jQuery at front + Java/Tomcat on back). The problem we experience in this environment is that when IE 11 opens one page of application it downloads all javascripts from the server and then execute
all of them but not the particular one.
We've found the javascript in the list of downloaded files in Network tab of IE11 Developer Tools. IE11 get the file with HTTP Status 200 (not from cache).
But we do not see the javascript in the list of loaded files in Debuger tab. The functions defined in this javasctipt file does not exists in scope of the page. The event handlers defined in this javascript file are never called.
Why IE11 can refuse to execute already downloaded javascript ?
Is any way to diagnose what happens when IE11 want to execute downloaded javascript ?

Hello,
I have a problem with IE11 when downloading *.tif files from an intranet server.  When I click the link to download one of these files it opens sometimes and fails other times.  I can try to download the same file 10 times in a row and it may fail
4/10 times and open the other 6 times.  All other file types (pdf, docx, etc) download fine.
Now the odd thing is that the file I am trying to open is a *.tif but IE will say that *.tiff (yes, extra 'f') has been moved or deleted.  If I close IE and reopen it and then view downloads, it now says *.TIF (all caps) has been moved or deleted.  I
believe that there is something in IE that is trying to download *.tiff files instead of *.tif so it can not find the file and gives me the error.  The only odd thing is that it works some of the time.
This worked fine on IE8 and IE9 (never had IE10) but we recently upgraded to IE11 and now it is exhibiting this issue.  If I use Google Chrome it works fine but we rely on IE for a lot of inhouse applications so other browsers are not an option.  I
am at a loss and looking for any insight.
Thank you.

I have 7 email accounts on our Exchange server for different business and personal roles.  I have always used OWA instead of Outlook to segregate accounts on my desktop.  For quick logins I have been using "Keyboard Express"

This same think happened to IE11 when I ran the Windows 10 upgrade 2 months ago, so I restored Win7 with a disk image to get rid of Window 10.
Is there a way to assign precedence between a Macro Program and IE11 Hotkeys ?

The first solution than I tried I use the method beginQuoteFileUnquoteUpload1 it created me a good boundary and good Content-Type but when I receive the file. The file is corrupted :(

var formData = new FormData();
formData.append('file', document.getElementById('file').files[0], document.getElementById('file').files[0].name);

function beginQuoteFileUnquoteUpload1(data)
{
    // Define a boundary, I stole this from IE but you can use any string AFAIK
    var boundary = "---------------------------7da24f2e50046";
    var xhr = null;
    if (window.XMLHttpRequest || window.ActiveXObject) {
if (window.ActiveXObject) {
try {
xhr = new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP");
} catch(e) {
xhr = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
}
}else{
xhr = new XMLHttpRequest();
}
    }else{
alert("Votre navigateur ne supporte pas l'objet XMLHTTPRequest...");
return;
    }
    var body = '--' + boundary + '\r\n'
             + 'Content-Dis name="file";'
             + 'filename="'+document.getElementById('file').files[0].name+'"\r\n'
             + 'Content-type: application/pdf\r\n\r\n'
             + data + '\r\n'

anyone seen this one?
on booting up 8.1, lenovo z410, the first few attempts to use IE11 from the desktop fail. "cannot open page".
connection troubleshooter produces nothing.

go to APPS > IE and it works fine.

after using chrome and the tile app for awhile, IE11-Desktop will gain coherency and start working.

is there a way to reinstall the desktop side?

this is a clean install with little/nothing loaded on it, about to be deployed for real work so its important.
I've never seen this issue before on 7/8 so kinda lost/bewildered

A:IE11 Desktop fails connection. IE11 Tile App succeeds

Maybe can not get that page immediately, try setting blank page for start-up. (about:blank) and than as a start page.

Hello all,
im trying to make IE11 auto-open a specific file extension .tsv with a custom app we have.
currently, users need to download the file and then click open to launch the custom app (the .tsv extension is already associated with the custom app and it opens properly).

is there a way to allow a specific extension to launch an app automatically?
thanks,
Sean

Hello Developers,

I am displaying a PDF on IE11 using the content disposition method and IE11 is displaying it fine.
Also i am passing the filename.But when i try to save the pdf the filename should appear by default in the save as dialog but it is displaying the last part of URL as file name.
Disposition Value used - "inline"
Please let me know if this bug can be removed from IE11.

Thanks,

Good Afternoon,

I am running into issues trying to upgrade to IE11. It looks like there are several issues in my CheckSUR Log, but I am not sure how to fix them. I have ran SFC /scannow a couple times and no errors have been identified. I have been having this problem for a couple months now and have just been using Chrome. I have also had several issues with the Aero Effects and Themes as I have to troubleshoot that multiple times a day.
I am receiving error code '3FD' from Windows Update regarding IE11.

Attached is my log.

Thank you in advance for your help!

A:IE11 Update/Install Issue - Trying to Upgrade to IE11

hello and welcome skohon now personally I would download IE11 Download Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 from Official Microsoft Download Center - it says on my machine I already have it if yours does the there is something quite wrong.

If it is not on your machine then you save the above to downloads and then do what is in this Install or uninstall Internet Explorer - Windows Help

I have done this myself on odd occasions and it saves you having to muck around with updates.

First you might like to run this though in safe mode if necessary
Disk Check and run the /f and /r switches if necessary.

Hi,
When i try to open MS PowerPoint file from Internet using IE11, i always get error message not enough memory or systen resources. After clicking ok and waiting few seconds file opens correctly. Saving file from the net works but when trying to just open,
error message comes.

There is no errors when using Firefox or Chrome but only when using IE11.
Windows version or Office version is not the reason. I have tried using Win7 and Win10 and also Office 2013 and 2016. Same thing also happens from different web sites

Any idea why this happens?

I have written code in asp.net for "upload" and "download" options
When I click on Download button first, click on ("Save As"/"Save") able to download the File It works fine ..
When I click on "upload" button  first  and then clicked on "Download" button ,click on "Save as" option File could not be downloaded click on "Retry", Click on Retry able to download the file. Click on Save
option able to download.
Issue is when "Upload" button and  then "Download"  button click on "Save as"  "File could not be downloaded click on "Retry".
Click on "Save" no issue able to download.

Please suggest me only after uploading then downloading click on save as option facing issue.

I have tried all the given solution from internet
1)Internetoption->Security
File Downloads-->Check Enabled.
2)Advance option-->Uncheck "Do not save Encrypted Pages to disk"

I created a settings change package inside of the IE11 Customization Wizard that would tweak the "Temporary Internet Files" to 1024 for an application we use. I set this under corporate settings under User and machine and finished the package like
normal.  But when I deploy the change does not go into effect.
Screenshots attached

I am NOT doing the full installer only the settings update.
Thanks,
Rich

As the title states, we're having issues with the our sites.xml file being locked somehow, preventing anyone from actually editing the file to make changes. The file is located on a network share, and we've nearly exhaust efforts in attempting to figure
out what exactly is locking this file. It's not the virus scanner, and it doesn't appear to be the clients (nothing is attempting to open the file with write access, as far as we can tell).
Has anyone encountered anything like this before with IEEM? If so, can you point me in the right direction?

After installing the Security Updates from the October 2016 Rollup/Quality Update. IE crashes when you open an .eml file. An application hosting a WebBrowser control (ieframe.dll) also crashes when doing that. This happens on Win7 and Win10 (maybe others
I couldn't test).

Whilst Firefox will now only allow a site to play audio or video with sound once a user has done something to initiate audio, such as pressing a play button, the same cannot be said within IE11.
Blocking sound in autoplay video has been many browsers aim during the past year or so. Unfortunately, IE's checkbox in:
Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Multi-Media Settings>Play Sound in Webpages successfully prevents sound playing in Autoplay, but this silences videos even when a user presses a play button by choice.
Has anyone managed to find a Group Policy which fixes this?

Well just updated windows to find I now get this error message when loading up windows;

Quote:

Could not load file or assembly 'sorttbls.nlp' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find this specified File.

Now this is coming form ATI Catalyst, I know so cause the error message has the new CCC logo. Now what stinks is its apparently something wrong with Microsoft NET, yet I have googled the problem and tried many fixes but with no avail. Right now I am pretty
mad cause I have CCC which wont work anymore, Zune, and also my windows is freaking out. Now I have spent the last hour trying to fix this dang issue and need help as I am stuck... Please help, ANY help at all is much appreciated.
Also this was after I had to restore my system because the new Microsoft updated screwed up my system...

A:Could not load file or assembly 'sorttbls.nlp' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find this specified File.

Hi,

I've searched the sorttbls.nlp file in my computer, and find that this file should be a component of the .NET Framework 2.

Also I find some information in the AMD support website:

• The AMD Catalyst™ Control Center requires that the Microsoft® .NET Framework SP1 be installed for Windows XP and Windows Vista. Without .NET SP1 installed, the AMD Catalyst™ Control Center will not launch properly and the user will see an error message.
• When installing the AMD Catalyst™ driver for Windows operating system, the user must be logged on as Administrator or have Administrator rights to complete the installation of the AMD Catalyst™ driver.

Please refer:

http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalyst112ReleaseNotes.aspx

You can try the steps below to resolve this problem.
Firstly, please go to Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Uninstall a program -> Turn Windows features on or off,

• If the checkbox of Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 is not been selected, then select it and click OK.
• If the checkbox of Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 is been selected, unselect the checkbox first, click OK. Then open the Turn Windows features on or off again and select Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1, click OK.
Then, please try to install the AMD Catalyst™ Control Center again.
If the above steps still not working, please perform the steps in this blog to fix the .NET Framework 2.0 in Windows 7:
