No Sound on my Gateway 5626

Q: No Sound on my Gateway 5626

After struggling with my computer which had a boot problem and etc.
I fixed it and happily watched some video than suddenly the sound was gone.

If I put my little stereo next to me my ear, I hear a bit of static.

I have a Gateway 5626 with Vista Home Premium 32 bit.

As of presently; my Device Manager for Sound
- High Definition Audio Device
- SigmaTel Audio High Definition Audio Codec

There are no caution signs or anything.
Also when I tried to test my stereo- it says failed to play test tone.

Things I have done-

-I have uninstalled my old drivers and have reinstalled drivers from the Official Gateway Drivers.
- I have checked to make sure that I didn't mute anything.

Please, I'm about to go crazy

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I disconnected my computer for a move and now I can't get a picture on the monitor. The keyboard lights up, the printer works, the computer comes on but I get a message on the monitor that there is 'no signal input' and I've checked the cable. A friend brought his monitor over with cable and had the same result.

Is it the video card? He suggested that might be the problem Everything was working fine when I stopped using it.

Any help/suggestion will be appreciated.

ok i just bought this nice gateway computer, 8 gigs of ram, quad core, hefty ATI graphics card all that jazz. but i have no sound. as far as i can tell the computer thinks that everything is fine, there are no "this device is not working" messages anywhere and as far as i can tell it recognizes that speakers are plugged in and it tries to play sound, but nothing comes out. if i turn the volume up real loud i can just hear the sound of the hard drives interference with the speakers and that's about it.

and it's in the whole computer to, i mean no sound for anything no windows media player, no games, not even the little jingle when you start up the computer.

any ideas on how to fix it?

i tried to download new drivers from gateway and they didn't seem to help. i tried to download a new driver from realtek and that didn't help either.

I have a gateway GT5662 with Vista home premium 32 bit os. I have no sound. I have an ATI Radeon HD 2400XT graphics A/V. When I check the dvice manager, its lists ATI HD Audio device, HD audio device & USB audio CODEC. All of them say they are working properly. The all 3 devices show the same 5 drivers listed. I tried Driver robot that said the were 3 drivers needed for these. when i downloaded & installed them, the one resulted in a gray screen that never went away. I had to shut down the PC to get rid of it. Any suggestions?

I have a Gateway 7322GZ and after several weeks of trying varying drivers (Windows 7 native and others) I am not able to get any sound out of it (yes, both the speakers and the audio jack). It is a Conexant Audio/AC97 type driver. I tried a number of different drivers at the Gateway site (yes, in compatability mode) with no luck. Any suggestions on an alternative to the Conexant drivers (I tried the Sigmatel with no luck either) I am getting real frustrated with the lack of sound support for older laptops. If this continues, I am going to be forced to dump Windows 7. Any tips would be great at this point. Hopefully, they will correct this by the release date but I doubt it.

I have a Gateway M320, running XP Pro, that keeps loosing the sound. The speakers will start to make a static noise, then I have no sound. I have updated the drivers from Gateway and also an independent site. Still does the same thing. If I reboot the sound is back until the next time this happens. I am wondering if this could be a motherboard problem. At one time Gateway replaced the motherboard due to a different problem. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas about this. I recently had the hard drive go bad and I replaced it with a new one. Had this problem before the drive died, so I know this isn't the problem. The computer is like new so I don't want to replace it due to this problem.

Hello all,

I have a Gateway 9300 Pro with an ESS Maestro2e AudioDrive (WDM) sound card. I purchased the computer 2nd hand and it's never had sound since i purchased it.

Troubleshooting consists of no sound thru Built-in Laptop Speakers and no sound thru External Speakers plugged into Ext jack. External Speakers work on different system.

Tried various drivers from Gateway and ESS to no avail.
*Note* Gateway has no XP drivers for this system

OS: XP pro v2002 SP2

Sound card: ESS Maestro2e
Rev: 1978S
Driver Ver: 5.1.2535.0
Gateway support site has no drivers for XP and only has 2k, ME and such. When contacted thru live chat, they acknowledge that they cannot assist.

ESS had drivers but no luck there, either.
Their tech support email link was dead, so waiting for reply from their webmaster.
(I'll probably die first of old age. i digress)

I have searched for any other solutions on various forums but noone seems to have dealt with this before.
Any ideas...???

Thanx, in advance, for your time and attention...

Jay

As said, I've a Gateway NV53 laptop and everything on it is stock. My onboard speakers are acting up. Most of the time I only really get any sound out of the left speaker, and every once in a while it'll swap back to both speakers for a few minutes, then back to just the left. Now, I know dual speakers, especially ones on a laptop probably, can't handle tons of channels and audio sources at one time, such as playin' a video game while having music in the background, but right now I'm only listening to a song and it's still messed up. I haven't messed with any of my audio settings since I bought the thing, unless something I installed optimized the sound settings for itself without me knowing. Any ideas what might have caused this?

A:Gateway NV53 sound problem

Go to the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally the Sound Panel. In the Playback panel your speakers should be set as Default. Click on the speaker icon to highlight it and then click on the CONFIGURE button in the lower left of the Panel. Make sure it's set for "Stereo" and then click the TEST and see if both speakers work correctly.

If they do not work correctly, try a headset connected to the headphone jack and see if you get both channels OK. If you do, I would suspect there is an internal connection problem with one of the speakers. If it's still in warranty contact Gateway to get it corrected.

This is the Audio driver you should install. But if you installed the latest as stated in your post, it should be this one. I tried it to see if it runs and it starts to extract. After extracting, you can best right click on the device listed in the device manager and let it search for updates (including the location where the extracted files are located). For better understanding of how to update hardware-drivers, read this tutorial.

Hi, I'm experiencing audio stutters ( 1/4 of a second ) almost every youtube video I play or song I listen to. No, my CPU load is fine. I got 4GB of ram, a dual core 2.1GHz processor and windows 7 64-bit. Just bought this computer a month ago. It's a Gateway laptop and is very fast. The only thing that annoys me is this audio stutter.

I've figured out what causes it, and it's the WLAN network adapter. It's called the Atheros AR5B97 and I have the latest ones. I also updated my Conexant audio drivers too. For some reason this problem does not go away. I checked DPC Latency and I get red spikes all the time (every 5 mins). The problem is only solved once I disable the network adapter.

Can I please get some help? I've researched A LOT and it seems quite a few others have the same problem but have not solved it. Please Help!! Before I take it to Gateway repair center (which I don't want to).

Hello,

I just found this forum this evening, so this is my first post. The reason I ended up here is because I have a problem with a gateway Laptop mx7515, sound issue that seems to be a unique situation.

I recently upgraded my roommates gateway with windows Pro xp64, and right from the start began having sound and network type driver issue's that I cannot find any help for. The laptop is out of warranty so gateway will not help without a large fee, and I don't really know from looking over there web site if they even can.
I tried Microsoft and countless others places and cant seem to find any news of this situation
The sound card is described as Gateway Conexant audio drive 1.1.0.18. I have tried installing some other drivers that i read worked for similar XP issue's but no go. there a also problems installing network and wireless drvers. Is this a hopeless cause? I am so ready to give up, so this is my last shot

I hope someone here is familiar with this situation and can help or I will have to install another OS.

Thanks

A:Gateway Vs Windows Pro 64 Sound issue

Well here are all your drivers: http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/search.asp?st=pn&param=5382

But two things.
1. Did you also update to Windows Service Pack 3
2. Why did you update from XP 32 Bit to XP 64 Bit, in the first place?

Now I say number 2 above  because XP 64 Bit has had many issues (especially driver issues) and generally many do not like it at all. The best "upgrade" for Windows XP (if you want 64Bit) is Vista (cough) Or better yet Wndows 7 64 Bit
Sadly I don't think your computer will work well (driver wise) on Windows 7 either
So its back to XP 32Bit you go, and think about updating your entire computer next time That supports Windows 7 64Bit ideally

XP 64Bit Why MS Why?

Hello!

I've decided to speed up my laptop (which is a Gateway NV44 Model) and install WindowsXP on it. After installation I have managed to install all the drivers correctly, except two:

http://imgur.com/SLgWK

While the "Network Controller" one is no big problem the Audio Device is indeed troublesome. I have tried installing all kinds of audio drivers bit none seem to work. The official Gateway site does not provide WinXP sound drivers.

I am not sure what to try now... If you ever encountered this or similar problem, please give me hints on how to make the sound work.

Thank for reading.

Edit:

Woot! I was able to fix my sound

I found the solution on another forum, I'll just copy-paste the instructions here:

Driver http://www.2shared.com/file/3318304/...ound_c772.html for Conexant HD Audio for XP32.

and to install it:

I found some instructions somewhere about how to get these Conexant cards to work. At first, I would go to the "Device Manager", click "Update Driver", click "No, not this time" (to avoid Windows connecting to Windows Update) and then "Install from a list or a specific location (Advanced)". Then I would select "Include this location in the search" and I would browse to the folder where the drivers were. This method failed for every single driver tried.

Instead, the instructions I found told me to choose the "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install"... Read more

Hello, I was recently given a Gateway E4100 computer. It is a P4 2.8ghz processor with 512mb ram. The sound is integrated into the mother board. I cannot get any sound from it. It shows up in the device manager as Soundmax Integrated Audio and it says that the device is working properly with no conflicts. I have re-installed Windows XP to see if that would solve the problem and have updated the driver downloaded from Gateways website. I have tried two different sets of speakers that I know work and still cannot get any sound. When I run Media Player, it shows that the song is playing but still no sound and cannot get any system sounds.
Any help out there that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.

bschrox; Welcome to Windows Seven Forums! We are glad you stopped in.

Please let me ask some basic questions first. What do you find when you click on the "speaker" icon, lower right task bar?

Open the "Volume Mixer" and "Sounds" and first see that sound has not been muted.

In sound properties, make sure the sound driver has been enabled and check the properties.

Under the "Levels" tab, you can also check sound levels and muted sounds.

Finally, skipping "Enhacements" over to "Advanced", you can test several sound bit levels.

Post back and let us know what you find?

Robert

So I had a distorted sound problem a few months ago...sent it off to Gateway to get fixed they gave me a new hard drive and it was fixed....about 2 weeks ago it starts doing it again....I reinstall the driver and that does nothing...so I talk to gateway and send it back in...I get a call a few days after it arrives there and they say they can't replicate the problem..meaning they don't hear any distortion(by distortion I mean staticy sound skipping). They send it back and tell me it could have been a lack of memory, because I didn't have a lot of memory to begin with and I told them that right before i sent it in my dad checked my processes and noticed ITunes Helper was using a lot of memory so I shut off the automatic updates on my Itunes and she said that could have been it. I get it back today...and the freakin' thing is worse then when I sent it in...I don't know if they just decided to not play any music or video or anything or they are all deaf at Gateway. I am having a problem trying to get my sound to work. We bought a second hand computer (like new) and I can't figure out where the audio tuning wizzard is to test my speakers and microphone I would sure love to hear when I have mail or when my sister comes online and sends me an ICQ message.

I was sent a really good joke in email the other day entitled "Bonnie at Walmart" and it is so funny and I wish I could hear what they are saying to each other! Oh well, sure hope someone can help me. Thanks if you can, will check back in in the morning.

Sincerely, Acerjan

Hi,
My Gateway LX6200 came originally with Vista (64-bit). After upgrading to Windows 7 (64-bit) the sound stopped working after that.
I can only get the Realtek High Def Sound Driver from Gateway's site (ver R1.95) ... that is only officially out for Vista
I got the above driver ver R2.51 from Realtek's site (Realtek) which presumably supports Win 7 64-bit and that hasn't fixed the problem either.

Apparently the driver's setup program works. It copies a bunch of files to the HDD and makes an entry on the uninstall app of the Control Panel. The problem is that on the "Sound" app of the control panel no output sound device appears.

There is a speaker icon on the buttom right side of the screen (next to the system clock) with a red mark on it and when the mouse hovers over it, it displays the message "No Audio Output device is installed"

I've tried installing the drivers in Safe Mode and that hasn't helped either.

Any hints would be greatly appreciated

thanks!!

A:Need Sound Device Driver for Gateway LX6200-01 desktop

In most cases (all that I've seen) the Vista Integrated Audio (e.g. RealTek) sound drivers will work in Win 7, as Win 7 is bascially "Vista improved" and uses the same audio scheme.

If there are any motherboard chipset drivers for this model, install the chipset drivers and then the RealTek drives again and see if that helps. Also, check the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Sound panel's Playback panel and see if your "speakers" show up and if they do, set them as the default playback device.

I've been working on a friends laptop a gateway mx6438 for a few days now and all was going well until I couldn't get the Audio driver to install correctly. I just recently formatted the machine myself and installed a different copy of windows XP (the restore disk and other disks that came with the system were never returned by a previous tech). So now i've been recommended by gateway several different things including realtek drivers, to some conexant ac-link audio driver. I'm running out of options here and I dont really want to have to pay gateway 20$ for a drivers disk. Any ideas?

A:Gateway mx6438-sound drivers wont install

u did not state any thing else about the machine so I am guessing, go to Gateway and download the drivers for that intigrated sound card.

u might want to give us the model of that laptop to.

Hiya, I've recently got ahold of a very old Gateway Solo 2200 laptop. Now, it came with a screwed installation of windows 98, which I promptly removed and installed windows 2000 (this thing only has 40mb ram). Everything works, except the sound. The ES1878 (sound) chipset is detected, and installed - but when you try and play a sound clip - refuses to play.

The device manager has highlighted the device as 'the firmware was unable to allocate the necessary resources to this device'. I've tried manually setting the resources, and while this removes the exclamation mark, the sound still doesn't play.

Anyone have any ideas? The sound was fine in Windows 98, but I really don't wanna go back to windows 98 becuase , well, it's Windows 98

Cheers for any help

I found this site while searching on google my only problem was people where looking for XP drivers.

I can not get sound on my laptop its a Gateway ML3109 on Vista not XP.

The file I got says

double-clicked the file D20007-003-001 , files self-extract and copy into the C:\Cabs\D20007-003-001 folder on the
hard drive.

I looked everywhere on my computer and I can't find this folder

I would re-instal Vista to get sound but my cd drive doesn't work and I can't boot it from my external cd drive. I think I need step by step instructions on how to finally get sound back on my computer.

I have this Gateway box that I've had in storage for about 6 months. I brought it out and want to connect it to my HD tv.

It used to be connected to a 22" samsung monitor through a Nvidea Geforce 9500 GT card in the PCI Express Slot.

I connected to my TV by HDMI via the onboard ATI graphics.

I removed the Geforce card and uninstalled the nvidea drivers.

Now I'm having trouble with audio, don't have any, can you help?

A:Gateway Box Moved, Pulled PCIe Video Card, Now No Sound

The card has hdmi out? Look if the card has an audio in place on it, you probably need to run a line from your sound card/onboard sound to the video card. Alternatively you could run a line out of your sound card to your tv - although tv's I'm familiar with only have audio in with a VGA or DVI connection, not hdmi (which typically carries audio on its own).

Hi,

I am having problem with my laptop after the new install. There is no audio device in this laptop. My laptop is MX7120 Gateway. I downloaded all the 9 files (drivers & softwares) from Gateway official website. One of the files is the Audio Driver (Sigma Tel Audio). When I was installing it, it said the files finished copying and need to restart. Then after I restarted the computer, it attempted to install again and gave me an error saying my computer system does not support this driver.

After searching, someone suggested to download AC'97 and install it. So, I went to download AC'97 and installed it even though it gave a warning message saying it is not suitable for my computer. But I tried and installed it through anyway. Of course it didn't work

Now here are the information from Device Manager
"Other devices" have a big question mark next to it.
"PCI Modem" has a big question mark next to it and a ! on the question mark.

Under "Sound, video and game controllers."
Realtek AC'97 Audio has a ! on the audio icon.

The above is the current stat. At one point (before I installed the AC'97, there was no AC'97 listed in Device Manager, but PCI Modem still had ? and !. Another item was something Media Audio Controller or something which also had a ? and a !.)

I am assuming it was a bad idea to install AC'97 when the computer already gave warning that it isn't capable for that software I tried anyw... Read more

Windows 7 Home Premium (x64) Service Pack 1 (build 7601)
Hello:
At the beginning of Sept 2012 I posted a BSOD thread here that was eventually resolved. The situation then, as now, was/is that I received an error about Windows Desktop Manager then went to BSOD. I received some great assistance by a 7 Forum Adviser but still could not resolve the problem. This included 36 hours of driver verifier, chkdsk, scan, etc and attempts at restore and repair.

I received a suggestion to re-seat my Memory Chips by another adviser and then then told to repair with the Windows install DVD. I did not have one but I was able to create a bootable DVD-R and USB Flash. The USB would NOT boot but I was able to get the DVD to go into upgrade and the files reloaded, which allowed the laptop to begin working again.
Two days ago the BSOD reappeared. Without going into more detail of what I have tried, I am posting here hoping for assistance.

I am attaching the Grab All zipped file as well as a BSOD file created in Niro's viewer.

Ok, I'm trying to get a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit boot repair disk. I have all the reinstall disks to do a back to factory settings that was purchased from Gateway(Acer) but I do not have a boot repair disk to fix the "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME"  on the BSOD.  I tried to contact Microsoft and provided the Product key on the laptop, but was informed that I would have to contact the manufacturer because it was a preloaded Windows 7. I think it is wrong of them not to help since it is their OS that is causing the problem. But none the less I tried contacting Gateway but after holding for an eternity and never actually getting a human only to be disconnected it is getting very frustrating!

After finally figuring out how to reach the BSOD (never thought I would be glad about getting the BSOD)ha) to see the information it supplied. Then finally finding out for sure I have the 64 bit, all I need now is the Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, with out the Service Pack 1 attached to it.

Unless I have been misinformed on another site and I CAN use the 7 Home Premium SP1 to boot from. Will I mess up my chance of booting the laptop back to life and out of the endless loop if I use the SP1? I don't want to make matters worse since I do not think it was updated with the service pack before it got stuck looping on the Windows Error Recovery Screen. I still can not get to any files in any of the usual ways...as in F8 , Alt/F10 or any of the other way... Read more

Installed ATA with no issues or errors. I've got a physical server running ATA Center and a separate physical server running ATA Gateway, and my Domain Controller is a physical server on the same network and VLAN.
I have two ports on my switch connected from the Domain Controller to the switch, and two ports on my ATA Gateway connected to the same switch.
For simplicity, port 1 and 2 on the switch are connected to the Domain Controller, port 3 and 4 are connected to the ATA Gateway.
Port 1 is set as a monitored port and port 3 a mirrored port in Mirror Group ID 1 on the switch.
Port 2 is set as a monitored port and port 4 a mirrored port in Mirror Group ID 2 on the switch.
I have confirmed with NetMon that bi-directional traffic can be seen between the Domain Controller and the Gateway on one of the NICs, but not on the other. I think this is due to there not actually being any traffic down the other as it is for redundancy
I believe.
The Gateway has successfully discovered the domain, DCs, users, computers etc, but I am not seeing anything in the timeline as yet (I realise I may need to wait a while for some actual events).
I also keep getting a high error: "Gateway not receiving network traffic", saying that the Gateway is not receiving mirrored traffic every half an hour or so. Could this be the interface that is connected to the redundancy port causing the error?
Since it is possible that no traffic is actually going down that port? ... Read more
