Yoga 920: replace or refund?

Q: Yoga 920: replace or refund?

Hello everyone, I bought a Yoga 920 last week and was really pleased with its performance until yesterday evening. I was clicking through a folder when the screen froze and I had to do a manual reset, which led to a series of blue error screens, more freezing, a Windows reset, and then a completely unresponsive machine (black screen, keyboard lights flashing). I called customer services this morning, who said that they would organise a refund or replacement for me. I really liked the machine when it was performing well, but I'm nervous about sticking with it after such a new machine turned out to be faulty (I'd used Apple products for the past 10 years and haven't had anything like this happen before). I'm currently writing up a PhD and lost that day's work as a result of this (not to mention all the time spent trying to resolve the issue), so I want a machine that's as reliable as possible. I'd like to know what other people recommend, based on their experience with this model - should I stick with the 920 and treat this as a freak occurence, or is this sort of thing common? Thanks!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have contacted lenovo customer service for so many times regarding the repeating issues that I have with my bluetooth connection on my THINKPAD A475 device. I told them that I will not want to repaire and I want a full refund or replacement of new model that I prefer if I have the same problems again for the fourth time. (posted in wrong place previously) In December, my laptop starting resetting itself (still in warranty). Its now May, and Lenovo are still refusing to give me a refund or a replacement. I feel I've been very understanding and patient at all the slow failed attempts to deal with the problem, but I'm completely fed up now. I'm a student, so having a reliable laptop is obviously really helpful, but I've spent many weeks of this year without a laptop whilst Lenovo have tried to repair it, and the rest of the time I've had a laptop that resets without warning which means I sometimes lose work even though I save my work regularly and back it up.  In January, it was sent to be repaired, they replaced the hard drive, but the problem still kept happening when it came back in February. In February, it was sent to be repaired again. They couldn't replicate the problem so claimed it was working fine (even though I had sent evidence that it wasn't fine, each reset left reports in the reliability monitor about bug report 124 and that it was a hardware error). So they sent it back unchanged after several weeks. Lenovo told me if the problem was still happening that they would refund or replace it.However, when I reported it still did happen, they said actually it was Lenovo's policy that there must be three failed repairs before they would do that.So in March I sent it off again to be repaired, this time they acknowledged again there was a fault, but they just repla... I do not know what this laptop is supposed to be able to do but I do know that it is not able to do the things that others claim that it can. Tomorrow is the cut off date for my ability to return it for a full refund or replacement so could anyone please tell me: What is this device supposed to be able to do battery wise? According to a review it can do 9 hours of constant web surfing. Mine can do 7 hours of no screen turn off and no sleep (so constantly on), with battery saver and power saver mode both on, and about an hour and a half of web surfing spread out sporadically throughout the 7 hours. If I constantly web surf it gets maybe 4 to 5 hours of battery. With sporadic use and letting it sleep and turn it's screen off it gets well over 24 hours of battery life. Is this how it is supposed to be? 7 hours of constantly being on with only low, sporadic actual use and over 24 hours if use is low and sporadic and it is allowed to sleep when not being used? Or is it really supposed to be able to get 9 hours of constant web surfing? If it is supposed to get 9 hours of constant use then I clearly have a bad battery and need to take it back! But the Lenovo page for this device says 7 hours and that this depends on many factors, so it sounds like my battery may be just fine and whomever got 9 hours has a lot of luck and that is not the norm for this device. However I have no idea! Please can anyone who knows tell me before tomorrow night so I don'... Read more

I would seriously love a refund. Worst keyboard design ever. Small shift key on right side of keyboard is an epic fail and I have no clue why my cursor randomly jumps all over the place. I also delete entire sentences and have no clue which keys I am hitting that cause the constant mistakes. I type fast and am skilled. This thing has made my workday a nightmare. I think just having a thumb hovering above the touch pad causes chaos. I am now typing terribly slow and even watching the keys at times. I bought a hardwire keyboard so I can just get back to work and stop trying to master this terrible layout/design. I am sure they will fix it for future users. But I am stuck with this thing. It was my first Lenovo purchase and I was excited about many of the features. It will definitly be my last. I work way too much to deal with the constant typos that impede my progress.

Bought my laptop one month ago and yesterday it black screened and is just a paperweight now. Lonovos only solution to selling defective computers is to repair them. What I couldn't get them to understand is that I don't want a broken and repaired laptop, that's not what I paid for. I paid for a no defective computer. You cant give me a broken machine that you band-aided for the same price as a new machine. I just want a replacement or my money back. I feel as if I'm getting screwed over big time here, and that's not how a company should do business. Don't sell me a lemon and then offer to fix it. I didn't want a lemon in the first place. I want what I paid for, a fully functional non defective machine. Lenovo refuses and is keeping the money. Lesson learned.

Hi, Does Zemana offer refunds and do they actually do it. I am very dissapointed with them and have approached them for a refund. I have to yet receive a reply.

A:Zemana Refund - Will they refund me? Where can I ask for my money back?

You can request a refund here: Order Detail Request Form

Where it says "Order Request Type", you can select "Refund Request"

Personally, my experience has always been good but security software behaves different with each computer. Whether or not you can receive a refund is probably a case by case basis in which only they can have a sure answer.

Hello, I think time to replace my keyboad - had a soft space bar to begin with then I spilled wine into it and several buttons don't work or work all the time without pressing. I cannot find the correct part number for the keyboard. I tried the lenovo online part finder and it either shows nothing or an incomplete list. And the voice system just leads me to call som IBM 800 number and they did not answer yesterday (maybe Pres day??). Can someone help me find the correct part number for the keyboard? Also do these keyboard replacement instructions apply to the Yoga 2 13 (just 'peal' the keyboard out rather than disassemble the whole thing)?https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Remove-and-replace-Yoga-13-keyboard/ta-p/1...  Thank you.

I'm in same trouble: several keys don't work. Possible solutions: fix single keys (pretty easy but long lasting?): https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Lenovo+Yoga+2+13-Inch+Keyboard+Keys+Replacement/39513I wanted to replace the whole keyboard, because about seven keys don't work. So in foresight that could last longer than changing single keys (like in the existing ifixit guide). But this really looks bad (removed mainboard etc.) : http://i65.tinypic.com/rhjpth.jpgthe black spots aren't screws, they are rivets or I don't know how this is called correctly. So one chance might be: cut them all off. But how to fix the new keyboard afterwards?Any experience? Is the single key fix from ifix it always successful? My current idea: getting a "palmrest" (frame with keyboard) of exactly the same model.

Yoga 370: I found some older forum threads about this but hope that this has been addressed by Lenovo lately - sorry if there are new threads that I've missed. I have swapped the Ctrl and Fn keys' functionalities in BIOS. Now I wonder if it's possible to replace those two keys with new original Lenovo keycaps with matching labels, i.e. a "Ctrl" labeled key cap at the current "Fn"-key's place and vice versa. Or are label stickers still the only option? Thanks.

I compared using both ATTO and AS disk benchmarks the performance of the drive in the 930 with the same size 250G SSD in a desktop with a Samsung 970 EVO Plus. The results everywhere better sometimes 10x the speed on writes.  I know in practice if I just use this for routine stuff and no special video editing possibly the existing SSD is more than sufficient. I know also I can clone and replace it in no time probably with a 500G one. Any thoughts? Opinions? Anyone who has done it and noticed a noticeable increase in speed? Thanks,Grant

Hi icelava  ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Based from the hardware FRU list (item 11 page 62), offered WLAN  for the yoga 2 pro :
WLAN/BT, Intel 7260BN 2x2BN+BT PCIE NGFF WLAN  and was not offered any AC WLAN .

Usually , "unauthorized network card" are encountered during this scenarios.

There are those that manage to upgrade it to the AC 7260 done here on this discussion using Windows 8 and also on this article  .

In Windows 10 , seems that further connectivity issue are being encounted and each fixes are different from the others as here in this thread.

Issues finding resolution is not OEM issues alone but also being shared by the software operating system.

It would be better to test it on a spare first before deciding on any upgrades for purchase.

Highlighted discussions a bit lengthy so just take your tinme on the review.
Hope this answered your query.

Hello, I bought a Yoga 710-14ikb and would like to replace the original SSD 256GB by a larger 500GB one. My notebook is quite new (few weeks) and has several original partitions:1. 260 MB2. 197 GB - Windows 10 C: (NTFS)3. 25 GB - Data D: (NTFS)4. 1 GB - Recovery5. 14.15 GB -Windows Recovery6. 1 GB - OEM Recovery I bought a 500GB SSD to replace the original one.As I like the OKR button feature, I would like to keep this functionality. If needed I can buy a "m.2 to usb" case to clone my old SSD first. Questions are:How is it possible to keep this Novo button function with my new SSD? Can this tool be downloaded from Lenovo site?If not how to partitioning the new SSD in a most senseful way? At this notebook Windows 10 Home is installed. But I am quite skilled with old windows versions (vista and before) and old BIOS functions but have no experience with UEFI and windows 10. Hence, I'm surpriced about all this 3 recovery partitions and how to make paritions with UEFI and keep the OKR function Looking foward to read your answers!Sebastian

I just replaced my 3165 Wi-Fi card on my yoga700 and I replaced it with a Intel 8260 with Bluetooth. Now when I replace the card I noticed that the Intel 8260 was a little bigger than the other card however it's still was able to fit in the slot because the slot is a standard size I guess with the added capabilities it required to have a bigger card I also attached the antennas to the proper aux and Main inputs. Now the wireless function works great I'm getting the speeds I want but I don't see the Bluetooth showing up in my device manager even after going through installation of Bluetooth drivers through lenovo's website and through Intel's website I even went into the service. MSC to try to enable the Bluetooth functionality but no go I'm thinking maybe the Lenovo has some type of way to power on or power off the Bluetooth device very similar to how airplane mode would disable the Wi-Fi but I can't be sure on that has anyone had any experience. It's a genuine Intel card and I'm pretty good with installing things on computers I also checked the BIOS and made sure that's up to date but unfortunately when I access the BIOS there's no option for enabling or disabling Bluetooth there has to be some type of setting I'm missing I'm actually reformatting and reinstalling Windows 10 again right now to see if that would fix any potential issues maybe it's remembering the old card and therefore not working

So my co-worked managed to knock my laptop off my desk and it was damaged, ugh... It still functions, but has the following issues:- There's a noticable blemish on the LCD screen and it will need to be replaced- The case is cracked on the right side around a USB port- The case is cracked on the left side around the power connector, and the connector itself is bent Looks like the screen alone runs $400 on Lenovo parts site, and I don't even see case parts listed. I'd prefer to replace the parts myself, but would also be willing to go to a reapair center if I had to. I'm leaning towards replacement instead of repair, but was wondering what others more experienced in laptop repairs thought. Thanks.

A:Repair or Replace? Yoga 14 Type 20FY ThinkPad

I fix machines, so my first impression is always to fix, but you have at least 3 damaged parts (jack, panel and case).  If the jack is damaged, there may be an issue with nearby parts.  I cannot be  sure without seeing it, but my guess is that you would be better off selling the broken one on eBay and buying a different one.

I've been trying to reach Lenovo customer support through phone number but nothing is working. I keep getting a dial tone and then call is hung up automatically (really frustrated how they don't even have an email address). Since I just dropped my laptop and the parts that was bent are FRUs only, I was wondering if Lenovo will still take mine in out-of-warranty (it expires on 11/28/18). Although only the two corners of the keyboard are bent, they're pretty noticeable and I'm fine with paying for repairs as long as it's reasonable. Thanks guys!
