BSOD win 10 Elgato issues.

Q: BSOD win 10 Elgato issues.

Hi everyone,
I'm new here and hoping to find some help, my PC runs fine without issues untill i try to run elgato software, when i do i get a blue screen of death, always at the same point, it used to work fine untill about a week ago, then one day i opened the program and it crashed, i tried to uninstall and it would crash again, i tried to install afresh and everytime it gets to the same point and then BSOD, the software programme no longer shows up in my apps list, the hardware no longer shows up in OBS either.
I'm at a loss and don't want to do a reboot and start again.
I have attached a file that may shed some light on this issue.
Many Thanks Scaloni777

Preferred Solution: BSOD win 10 Elgato issues.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Please run this report collecting tool so that we can provide a complete analysis: (from the pinned topic at the top of the forum)   http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/576314/blue-screen-of-death-bsod-posting-instructions-windows-10-81-8-7-vista/If you have Driver Verifier turned on, please turn it off.  To do this, open up verifier.exe and select "Delete existing settings".  Then click on "Finish" and reboot the system for the changes to take effect. If you didn't turn it on, please check it anyway (and let us know). The purpose of Driver Verifier is to cause BSOD's by stressing out the selected drivers. Please search your system for drivers named NTIOLib_X64.sysYou'll find several of them - mostly in an MSI directory in one of the Program Files directories. You'll note that they are associated with different MSI programs (the next level higher in the directory structure). Please uninstall those programs as this driver is known to cause BSOD issues. Analysis:The following is for information purposes only. I originally submitted a ticket to Elgato about this issue a few days ago, but was just told that my PC's specs weren't new enough to use this device. The ticket I submitted reads as follows:
"Hi. I recently installed an Elgato 4K60 Pro in my PC (replacing my outdated Hauppauge HDPVR60) to record footage at 4K 60FPS OR 1080p60FPS from my Xbox One X and am currently experiencing some serious issues with playback, making the footage that I record almost unwatchable.
When attempting to record in any of the given resolutions listed in the drop down menu of the 4K Capture Utility (even 720), the preview window always seems to appear choppy and is constantly stuttering. I first thought that this choppy-ness was just part of the preview window and that the footage would sort of 'work itself out' upon actual playback (opening the file in some sort of media player once I had stopped recording) but I was wrong. After opening the file, I found that the stuttering (along with what looked like the footage was being sped up) was still present, as it was in the preview window. I don't have too much experience with Elgato capture devices as this is my first time purchasing one of your products and am curious, am I doing something wrong? I've installed the correct capture software. I've installed the correct drivers for the 4K60 Pro from the official site. I've tried playing around with various setting configurations within the 4K Capture Utility such as changing the video encod... Read more

My Elgato HD 60 has what i call a glitch no clue what its actually called, but static pops up on the preview screen and it records it like that static and no audio. If you know how to fix that then thank you that would help a lot.

My real question is, is my processor to weak for the capture to work. I have a Intel Pentium CPU G2020 @ 2.90GHz. The system requirements for CPU are 4th generation Intel Core i5 CPU (i5-4xxx or comparable), 2 Ghz or higher, before Turbo Boost.

I really dont know much about computers so i dont know how to figure out almost any of this stuff.

I recently purchased an elgato hd60s capture card. After I set it up it showed that the card required a 3.0 usb port. I then plugged it into a port titles ss, which is a 3.0 usb port. When I went to check my Universal Serial Bus controllers I realized that I dont have 3.0 usb drivers. I dont know much about pcs and was wondering how to get these drivers.

A:Laptop or desktop for using elgato

Hi Xdelx, Welcome to PCHF!

To be honest both of those systems seem pretty low end. What is your budget for a new computer?

Here are the general Elgato Game Capture HD System Requirements.

? Windows 7, Windows 8 or later
? 2.0 Ghz (or higher) dual core CPU, or 2.0 Ghz (or higher) multi-core i3, i5 or i7 CPU
? Sound card
? 4GB Total Installed RAM (or higher)
? Built-in USB 2.0 port

You should get a computer that is well above the minimum system requirements. You may be able to run the software with either of those systems but not particularly well.

I have a home made computer. Please note that i did not make it, I am not very tech-y. It has windows xp.
I just bought an Elgato Game Capture HD so i can play video games and put them on youtube.
the Elgato does not support windows xp, it does support windows 7 sp1.
My questions is what can i do?
I have all of the programs that i need on my computer already. I dont really want to spend another some-hundred dollars on a new computer and the programs and whatever else i might need. Just want to know my options. If i need to spend money on a new computer or something, please assist me with what to look for -cheaply. If i need to get a new computer, i would prefer a laptop, though this is not a necessity.

Hey, recently I got myself an Elgato HD60 Pro. Without thinking (stupid me), I bought it and found out I have to put it in an I BELIEVE PCI-E 2 slot. But anyways, the slot is directly underneath the slot my GPU is placed. Now, my GPU is pretty big due to the fan meaning it blocks of the slot for my Elgato, meaning I can't plug both my Elgato and my GPU in at the same time.

My GPU doesn't have USB (I've seen a few PCI risers online but they all need USB as far as I understand). Is there a way to - without getting a new motherboard etc - get them both in (I thought of some extension thing for my GPU so I can place my GPU somewhere without directly putting it in the slot)

Sorry if this is messy written, hopefully it's understandable. I have no experience with hardware whatsoever.

Just today I got an Elgato Game Capture HD so that I could record myself on YouTube playing XBOX 360, XBOX 1 and Retro Game Consoles. I installed the latest version of the Elgato Game Capture software which required me to install Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 and also required some sort of update for Windows 7. I also downloaded the latest version of the Elgato Game Capture HD Driver. I then opened up the Elgato Game Capture software only to find that it didn't recognize my Elgato Capture device. I went into the Device Manager only to find that there was a yellow ! under the Elgato Game Capture device. I double clicked it to see what the issue was and it gave me the Code 52 error. I tried typing something in CMD to solve the problem but that didn't help. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver but that didn't help. I know that the Device itself is not broken because when a console is hooked up to it then it would show on my HDMI monitor and Retro consoles are included.

I have absolutely no Idea how to fix this,
I recorded some GTA V Xbox One, with my Newly purchase Elgato Game Capture HD.
The only settings I changed is the resolution:
I put it at [email protected] (with allowance to use 60fps or whatever that tick box was).
When fast movements are made in game, when I record for example and I jump and fall off a car roof, as shown in this video I made (https://youtu.be/refYFmQPooc). You see very early on in that video what I am talking about.
Any and all helpful replies are very much appreciated!
Please reply asap

When I'm trying to record something in theater mode it looks good and smooth and hd. But when I record it with Elgato it says "deinterlacing" and after that it looks laggy / crappy / not hd. I need to record good Black Ops 2 material with my ps3 / elgato please help me!

I heard that with ps3 you can get the quality better with some other wires, can someone explain how?

If you need anything else like my settings or computer specs please tell me!

I'm using Mac by the way.

Please help!

A:Elgato Game Capture Device PROBLEM with Black Ops 2 [HELPME!]

Sounds like a configuration issue in your recording software/configuration.

There is no reason to deinterlace the video as it's a progressive signal (ie: 1080P) and you want to record it as a progressive signal (1080P).

As far as cables go, that device doesn't appear to offer an input options. Looks like you should be using an HDMI cable. For the most part, HDMI cables either work or they don't.

I bought this Elgato capture card yesterday and I've been trying to get it to work. I've updated my driver, and changed the video quality on both of my monitors, along with the profile (quality) on the software but I keep getting this message:

I don't know what it means by "video output format" but I want to be able to record off of it, so thank you in advance if you know how to help me.

A:Elgato Capture Card: Won't capture anythng

I'm not familiar with it. But based on the image, there is no input signal (upper right box - Game Capture HD "no signal").

So the error is likely trying to tell you to change the output video type of whatever you have connected.

A back screen is not a BOSD (Blue Screen Of Death). So it is no use posting your thread here unless you get a blue screen with an error message.
Clean the inside of your computer with a can of error. Update the drivers for your graphics card at Nvidia.com Support/Drivers look up the model number for your card and download the drivers for Windows 7 64bit. Drivers | GeForce

Also go to the manufacture of your motherboard's website look up the model number and download the drivers for the motherboard starting with the chipset drivers for Windows 7 64bit. This should be done first before the graphics drivers. ASUS - Motherboards- ASUS Maximus IV Extreme

Then download and install all other drivers for your motherboard. Remember to reboot after each installation of all drivers starting with the chipset drivers.

My first problem is that Windows will randomly freeze up and I end up having to hard reboot my system. Windows will also BSOD on me randomly. I've read a number of things online about how to fix it, but nothing seems to help.

Also, another problem, I'm not quite sure how to explain this one. I'm not too computer savvy so forgive me if it doesn't make sense. Windows seems to "lag" from time to time as well. I'll move the mouse and it will appear off somewhere else, just like how you lag in video games, where you would move and appear in other places because the computer can't process it. Also, during this "lag" if there is any audio playing it will "loop"? The sound will repeat until the "lag" spike goes away. This will happen about 3 to 6 times within a few seconds and then it will stop. Sorry if I made that confusing but that's the best way I know how to describe it.

If anyone can offer any suggestion on how to fix these two problems, I would greatly appreciate it.

I've included the most recent minidump file and my system specs.

A:Freezing issues and BSoD issues. Help please!

Hello Welcome to SF,

I guess the issueis with one of the core Windows compenent ndis.sys This problem may occur if you installed the NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible Transport protocol on your computer and you are using the Driver Verifier Manager to troubleshoot your Ndis.sys driver's Special Pool feature.
Reinstall you display driver and make sure you download them from vendors wensite and NOT from Windows update. Uninstall if your using any third party anitvirus or Firewall see whether that makes any difference. Update you BIOS firmware. If your Overclocking please stop it.

Run the Memory Diagnostic & HD Diagnostic

Also i would recommend to run System Integrity Checker
Start > Run > CMD >Right Click and Run as administrator > SFC/ SCANNOW

I keep having various BSODs on boot only, and after some hours of searching, it seems to come down to memory addressing out of range with drivers, according to the web. However, I could be wrong, and that is why I'm here. NTFS.sys, kernel errors, and IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, 0x0000007E, seem to be the popular ones that have occurred and all multiple times over the last few months. I've nuked all the drivers and updated all the ones I can think of from chipset to peripherals. I'm tired, and not as experienced as the people here with debugging, so I figured I'd dump my report and ask for help. What is causing this boot freeze-up? Also, it doesn't happen every time. I can restart the computer up to 3 times max, and once in windows it is fine no matter how long I use it, or what hardware I use. ZIP is attached. Thanks!

I would suggest you to uninstall Avast using Avast Uninstall Utility. At least as a test. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.

See how it goes. Report us for any further BSOD.

In the last 48 hours I downloaded Skype and BOINC (Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing). I also updated my drivers for my AMD Radeon HD 6950 video cards (as part of attempting to resolve a BSOD related to ATI drivers.
When attempting to play any Call of Duty games on Steam, I will either get a black screen that then closes itself, or a BSOD. Also, when BOINC starts, I get a BSOD every time. I have uninstalled both BOINC and Skype since the issue started shortly after installing those two programs, updated my video drivers, performed repair installs on DX and VC++. Additionally, I deleted the "appcache" folder from Steam thinking that perhaps I had corrupted data there as the application will recreate that folder if it is missing. Lastly, I tried removing all local content for the games giving me issues and reinstalling them which when reinstalling COD:MW3 from disk causes a BSOD when I switch from Disk 1 to Disk 2. I have run out of ideas, and am hoping that the below files will assist someone in helping me.

hello all,

I've been reading the threads here for a while trying to solve my problem, but i've decided to post a dump and see if anyone more acquainted with these issues can help me out.

This is the latest one I've received. The most frequent error I get is IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, followed by KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED.

Ntoskrnl.exe seems to be in all of them.

This seems to happen randomly, I'm not sure exactly what the issue is, I've updated the drivers to the best of my ability, I've installed the latest AI suite etc.

I play World of Warcraft and it seems to happen a lot when i'm playing. I had to RMA my Graphics card (HD 5770) and i've been using the one it replaced (geforce 8800). Since the RMA took so long, I since reinstalled windows 64 bit from 32 bit to utilize more memory, so i'm not sure if theres something going on there, the radeon has not been used yet in this install.

I'll be checking this forum frequently, so if more information is needed, i'll promptly post it if possible.

Thank You!

after looking at a few more threads, i noticed that some people are asking for more dumps, I'm going to attach the whole folder.

Hi -

The summary info from the 15 mini kernel dumps is at end of post.

Update your Marvell Yukon Ethernet driver. Get the specific model from Device manager -

Your system appears to me to be missing Windows Updates, based specifically on the timestamp of the DirectX Graphics Kernel. Yours = July 2009; It was updated in October/ November 2009. Also, the NT Kernel in your system = January 2010; based on 1,000's of memory dumps I've seen along with my own Windows 7 x64 system, NT should have timestamp = February 2010.

So I just upgraded my brothers computer. I put in a XFX AMD based board and CPU with a heat sink from a FX-8350. Attached is a speccy scan of the hardware it has now. I did not reinstall Windows because when I booted up the computer after the hardware upgrade it downloaded the latest drivers and his games were working fine. After a couple weeks, all of a sudden we are getting a BSOD when playing games like League of Legends that goes off to quick for me to read what the error was. Sometimes the screen just turns black and the computer does nothing. This is what the main error is in event viewer. Not sure if its related to the black screen issue though.
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000003b (0x00000000c0000005, 0xfffff9600018d7b6, 0xfffff8800274af90, 0x0000000000000000). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 011614-14757-01.
I tried updating the drivers again for the graphics card, I tried running many virus scans with many different programs, went through programs list to see if it was any rogue security products which there was none. Also, when we turn the computer back on from the BSOD, it gives me a message on the splash screen saying "DQS training failed on previous boot, Revert to slower DRAM speed". So I reset the bios settings to defaults and that didn't stop the BSOD. I have a feeling I will just have to reformat his computer, any advice is most appreciated. Thanks!

Hi all, some of you might recognize me from the SevenForums.

I was having these same issues with Windows 7 installed, and it was diagnosed to be a insufficient power supply. To remedy this (and simultaneously upgrade to a GPU to support 3 monitors) I replaced my old graphics card (Gigabyte Radeon R7 250) with a new one (AMD FirePro W4100) which has a much smaller power requirement (50W vice 400W). I felt confident enough in the fix that I also upgraded the machine to Windows 10 (via the free upgrade from 7).

After upgrading, I'm still receiving the same variety of BSOD's I was before (although it seems with a little less frequency). I also did a clean install of Windows 10.

I'm still collecting BSOD's (several got deleted by my new install of CCleaner) but figured I'd go ahead and post up anyways.

Basically, I receive a manner of Blue Screens to include the most common:

I did receive one which trouble me....and might point to the fact I still need to replace my PSU:
INTERNAL_POWER_FAILURE (the fourth minidump)
These happen at any random time whether I am actively on the computer or not. I doesn't seem to be attached to any specific action or program.

A:BSOD issues

Hi cannoncd,

I can't seem to load the dumps properly, again..

This question has already been asked in the other thread, but does a crash also occur when only 1 monitor is connected?
Windows 7 is different from Windows 10, the answer for Windows 7 might not be the same for Windows 10.

Hi all,

First of all I'm sorry for the long post this will be...
I got my new Alienware Aurora system for less then a week now and have had several issues since.
The system came with a Windows 7 Home Premium x64 OEM edition (Dell- alienware) core i7 930 2.8ghz on intel X58 MB and dual ATI HD 5770 in xfire and a 875W PSU don't know what make...
First issue was overwhelming fan noise (found out later) due to liquid cooler plate not being pressed against the cpu causing cpu to heat up to 70?c idle and 100? under workload causing shutdowns.
Fixed that by pressing gently against the cooler and now it cools as it should idle CPU temps of 50 -55 ?c and 70? under workload and no more fan noise.
Wanted to run 3d benchmark Futuremarks 3Dmark06 to see how well my system would score according to the scores found out my crossfire wasn't enabled.
Enabled it and started benchmark again to find out the pc just shuts down somewhere in the test.
GPU idle temps 50-55? under workload 70-80?.
Everytime it crashes I get 9/10 to do a startup recovery or windows wont boot and my crossfire setting is gone( returns after three boots)

To top it off my keyboard (Logitech G11 with standard windowsdrivers) and mouse (Steelseries wow MMO mouse with standard windows drivers) (USB) stops working during Wow or Dawn of war 2 or maybe other games too havnt tested yet.
So had to wait for a bsod telling me something like power driver failure or something after waiting for 15 minutes?

I have been trying to figure it out, which hardware is causing the issues and am looking for ideas. I ran memtest for 15 hours no errors found in my ram, i also ran a CPU burn in utility (orthos) for 26 hours testing stability and did not find a problem. I know this is not much to go on for ideas. i will upload the .dmp files next time it happens but at this point i tried to reinstall windows 7.

ntoskrnl.exe was the only thing listed in the dump files i looked through.

We can examine the DMP files in ways you cant.

If you wish to have others assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder. The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Start your own thread in the "Crashes and Debugging" section of the forum and attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
* Briefly describe the problem history and circumstances in the same post. Somebody will attend to your query as soon as possible.

Please go to C:\Windows\Minidump

Copy the files from there to any other folder. Then rar or zip them and attach the compressed file to a post.

There are no minidumps in your current attachment.

Hello all - just found this forum through google. I bought this PC about two months ago now and had no issues with it until two or three weeks ago when I started getting BSODs at random times - at start up, shut down, idling, gaming, you name it. I've gotten several BSODs since I turned logging on and have attached them to this post.

CyberpowerPC is the company I bought this from and their tech support has been less than helpful at best. Thanks in advance, and please, let me know if there is anything I can do to make this easier on you.

We do need the DMP file. usually located in C:\windows\minidump. If not search *.DMP. Drag the files to the desktop and compress using the right click>send to compressed file. Then upload.

Let us know if you need help with that

To troubleshoot a BSOD issue, we need the actual crash dump files written by Windows and a record of event log errors. Please follow the below steps.
Upload the crash dump files.
You can find the crash dump files inside C:\Windows\Minidump folder. Copy all the files located in that folder and zip them to a single file. Disable the "User Account Control" if you encounter a permission error. We need at least a minimum of three dumps to find a pattern. Attach the zipped dump with the next reply. If the file size is larger than 512KB, upload the zipped dumps to a free file hosting site and post the download link to it.
    Example file hosting sites :
A Speccy snapshot.
"Speccy" is a free tool which is used to create a report about your system. It will list the make and model of hardware components as well as installed Windows updates, HDD SMART status etc. Please read instructions from the below link and post the web link created by "Speccy" in next reply.
Minitoolbox report.
"Minitoolbox" can list all the installed programs as well as event log errors in your system. Download "Minitoolbox" from the below link.

I am currently using a PC that I have built from scratch about a month ago. The specifications are as follows:

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
- System is brand new so no prior OS installed.
- OS is a full retail version that I purchased along with my hardware.
- The OS has never been reinstalled. Also 5 weeks old.

Age of hardware: Exactly 5 weeks old.

Motherboard: Asus P7P55D-E

CPU: Intel i5 750

Video card: Powercolor 1gb HD5850 PCS+ PCI-E

Power supply: Corsair HX650W

The blue screens basically happen on their own accord with no warning whatsoever. Sometimes they occur while I'm surfing the net, sometimes they happen when my computer is simply idling. Worst of all, when they occur, they do so in a continuous manner. In other words, when the first BSOD appears and I restart the computer (to see help and whatnot), more BSODs soon follow along.

Here are some details I managed to pick up:

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.1.7600.

Need some advice from an expert these problems im having our beyond my knowledge.

Heres a rundown of the situation....

Built new computer

Gigabyte x58 motherboard
i7 950 CPU
OCZ gold 1600 mhz ddr3 triple channel ram 3x2 (PC3 12800)
Radeon graphics card
corsair power supply
caviar black HD's

Built system, had ram problems, thought i had fixed them (ran good for a few days).
Back to having ram problems, at first i was getting hardware issue error in memory diagnostic. Found out RAM is rated for 1.65v was running at 1.5v. Changed the voltage in BIOS to 1.64v now running at 1.61...can start windows with networking in safe mode (still running below par). Can start windows regulary about 1/5 times the other times i am getting various BSOD messages. memory_management, no page file, special pool detected.... i attached the dump files. I believe it is ram/driver issue but i am just guessing from what i have read. Any help will be greatly appreciated, will pay you on paypal if completely fixed! i am at my wits end. I just want my new computer to run smoothly like it should

also would not let me run perfmon report (maybe because i am in safe mode?)

Also i enabled driver verifier, not sure how to get the results though....

A:WIN 7 x64 BSOD/RAM issues

from the boot menu i selected start from last known good configuration and was able to get into windows without a BSOD. It is still running poorly though and i dont believe the error has been corrected. here is the performance report.

Also was able to get a trueimage backup done without it crashing, makes me feel a little better, at least i wont lose all my data if i have to reinstall win7

Hi, I've been having BSOD issues once again after updating my gfx card drivers earlier today. Rolling them back to an older version, even through a fresh install, did not appear to help at all and I'm at a loss as to what could be causing these issues. All of the blue screens have shown up as IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL with the bug check code 0x0000000a, except for one which was SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION with bug check code 0x0000003b.

The last BSOD before this post was also a bit strange, about ~10 seconds before it occurred windows desktop manager apparently stopped responding/bugged out.

Also, I'm not sure if hardware might have anything to do with this, but while trying to diagnose some previous BSOD's I've at least already confirmed my RAM is not faulty through Memtest.

Hi Crypt135 and welcome

In examining the DMP files they all seem to point to a windows 7 OS file (ntkernlmp) which is almost impossible. Since it points to an OS file I can give you a few things to try.

1- since these seemed to occur after a GFX driver upgrade I would remove all traces of the current driver (they make a removal tool I think) and download and install a new copy just to be sure.

2- I would run system file check to verify and repair your system files. This w... Read more

Hey guys,

Complete newbie! I worked with PCs during the Windows 95 era so I play games, listen to music, and generally muck about on my PC. I'm having a bit of an issue on two accounts really.

I recently bought 4Gb of Memory to make the PC run that little bit faster. My friend also recommended an upgrade to my video card so I went for a standard NVidea GeForce 9500 GT. All seemed to be going well but I then kept getting the old BSOD. Originally I though this was the memory as a lot on info on the net states the 32bit version of Vista can't handle it. I don't know if this is 100% correct as I have another Vista PC with 3Gb and it's fine. In any case I removed 2Gb for the timebeing but kept getting the BSOD. I then ran driver verifier and this put my PC in a constant BSOD death loop. I got a message stating the IRQ_LESS_OR_NOT_EQUAL or some other pants!! After several reinstalls and then disabling of my NVidea card the system seems to work. I then reactivated my NVidea card and found seveal conflicting IRQ settings in my device manager, primarilly I noted that my BSOD did keep happening when I was using my external USB hard drive to listen to music and noted the following:

PCI 17 High definition audio controler
PCI 17 Standard openHCD USB Host Controller

The NVidea card also shares an IRQ with two of these host controllers which is a bit concerning. I understand I should be able to amend these settings in the Bios but I have to say I've messed arou... Read more

A:IRQ BSOD issues

About the only way you can change the IRQ for an installed card is to change the slot.

Has the onboard graphics chip been disabled in the BIOS?

I can run a debugging utility on the dump files if you do this:

1 > create a new folder on the desktop and call it "dumpcheck" or whatever you like
2 > navigate to c:\windows\minidump and copy the last few minidump files to that folder. *this assumes 'c' is your boot drive, if it is not, subsitute accordingly
3 > close the folder and right click on it and select Send to Compressed (zipped) Folder.
4 > use the "manage attachments" in the "advanced" reply window to upload that zip file here as an attachment.

This might point us to a non Microsoft driver causing the error, if one exists for it.

My computer was running slow, hanging a lot in Windows Explorer where it would take forever to navigate folders or open and close programs. I downloaded and installed Spybot S&D, but during the registry backup, S&D hung up and I had to reboot my computer. I reinstalled S&D and ran it -- it found a few negligible things. Also installed and ran Anti-Malware and Super AntiSpyware. Still no big findings. But when Super Antispyware went to finish cleaning by rebooting, I got a blue screen registry error message: "STOP c0000218 Registry File Failure. Registry cannot load the hibe (file): \systemroot\system32\config\default or its log alternate. It is corrupt, absent, or not writable."

I went to do a system restore, but found no restore points earlier than when I uninstalled S&D, even though I'd had several a few days ago (I have no idea where they went). I uninstalled S&D, though I know that wouldn't fix the problem. I got a second BSOD on the registry, this time \system32\components. I put the windows recovery/install disc in, and it just went back to the system restore point after the S&D uninstall. It seemed to work, but now I'm getting random BSOD errors (different from the registry kind). I can boot up, but no telling how long the computer will be stable. It doesn't seem to be as slow, anyway! LOL.

I have done fresh Vista installs before, so will go that route if I need to *sigh*. But I'm hoping something can be done... Read more

Hello, I was directed here by a friend and hopefully we can sort this out.

A month or two back (I've been procrastinating this, sorry) out of nowhere I started getting BSODs, the only things I'd done differently that day was turn my idle option off and began playing a Playstation 2 emulator (Monster hunter, my original disk broke and I couldn't find another copy anywhere).

It appeared to be an issue with my video card drivers, so I wiped them clean and used a driver cleaner and cleaned out the remnants and installed a fresh driver, but the problems continued, since then I've put in newer drivers as they've been released (albeit not as thorough as before, I admit).

Most of the time my screen begins to tear - lines across my screen or full blown meshup of everything on the monitor, other times I either immediately get a BSOD or my computer simply reboots/turns off, It seems to do it most when I run anything CPU/Graphics intensive like video games, but it also does it even if I'm just staring at my desktop or browsing the internet, just less as frequent.

I've gotten a myriad of BSOD errors, I didn't write them all down but here are the ones I did;

Hi -

Most of the dumps point to NVIDIA video, some with bugcheck 0x7f (0x8,,,), which often means that vsdatant.sys is present - Zone Alarm.

Remove Zone Alarm.

2 BSODs were VERIFIER_ENABLED and named NVIDIA video.

You do have the current version NVIDIA Quadro 2000M driver from Lenovo installed -

nvlddmkm.sys Wed May 25 18:43:20 2011 (4DDD8608)
v8.17.12.6871 - http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub...s/83de39ww.txt

You may be able to install an update directly from NVIDIA - NVIDIA DRIVERS 275.89 WHQL

Create a system restore point 1st -
START | type create | "create a restore point"

Hi all,

I've been having some issues with BSoDs, and can't seem to find a solution anywhere. I haven't updated anything recently that I know of (other than a windows update which occured a few days after the crashes started), and I've uninstalled my virtual drives and updated run the SPTD uninstaller I found in a previous thread, but still get the crashes.

If left off for a long period of time, my PC crashes a few minutes after startup. A restart fixes it temporarily, but the issue returns the next day. The BSoD seems to say a different error each time. I've had;

-- And one time it stated no error, just the stop string afterwards.

I've uploaded the file indicated in the posting guidelines, if anyone could take a look and try to diagnose the problem it would be really appreciated. My abilities of fixing these errors are limited at best.

It is difficult, at best, to diagnose with only one dump. In this case, it appears to be your Symantec Anti Virus. Uninstall using the Symantec uninstall tool, then install and use Microsoft Security Essentials, report back.
