Preferred Solution: Lenovo Y520 dedicated GPU not showing

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hey guys, I just bought this computer today and I have encountered this problem. When I go to control panel -> display / dxdiag / AIDA64, I can only see Intel HD 630, but not my GTX 1050. I have tried reinstalling latest drivers and I changed the settings in NVIDIA control panel. I am using Windows 10 Pro. Thank you

Hi Adomce123,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Have you tried running dx diag with a high graphic application software running alongside?

The automatic switch from Intel to NVIDIA would happen when there is demand for it thus you were allowed to re install NVIDIA drivers and use the NVIDIA control setting since it was available in your system. This can also be checked in your device manager as well as lenovo diagnostics to confirm if the NVIDIA device if available.

Try going in the BIOS and verify options under Configuration Menu for graphic device to run on Discrete or UMA only as option. F10 to save setting before exit.

Update us how it goes.

Regards

Hello! My laptop model is V510-15IKB and serial number:LR096SFV.My externel graphics card is amd radeon r5m430.My dedicated memory is 2048 mb.But yesterday i found it as 512 mb only.I need to increase the dedicated memory to 2048 mb in order to play high quality games.I tried many ways to increase it...In the bio i failed to find the option of increasing dedicated memory. So now question is how will i be able to increase my dedicated memory to 2048 mb?

A:My dedicated memory is showing less

Hi Rufiq,1. May I know what games are you trying to run?2. AMD GPU dedicated memory is fixed. Some Intel onboard memory is adjustable in the BIOS, as it would be sharing with the laptop's memory (RAM).

I have video memory about 2 GB but it's showing dedicated video memory only 32 mb my laptop is lenovo e49 anyone have suggestions

A:Dedicated video memory is showing only 32 mb

If you read the video adapter properties, you'll see that it has a small amount of dedicated video memory, but it uses a large amount of shared memory.
Depending on whether your laptop is running a 32-bit or 64-bit Windows operating system, and depending on how much RAM your laptop has, the amount of shared memory can change.

The Lenovo E49 laptop appears to have an Intel or NVIDIA graphics device.
Do the following in it so we can get a better idea of its hardware and Windows operating system:
Download and save the TSG System Information Utility (SysInfo.exe) to the desktop.
After it's been downloaded and saved, double-click it to run it.
Information about your laptop will appear.
Return here to your thread, then copy-and-paste the ENTIRE text here.

Hello. My laptop is an:HP Pavilion dv6t-3000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC running Windows 7 SP1 64 bit version. The issue is that the dedicated graphics card: an ATI Mobility Radeon 5650 fails to show up in device manager most of the time. So instead the computer uses the Intel HD integrated graphics. Here it doesn't work. Here it works.I'm unsure why sometimes the dedicated graphics card is not detected but it's really frustrating.Does anyone have any ideas?

My laptop is showing 128 MB instead of  2 GB in display adapter. Laptop specs are:
model- dell inspiron 5447 i7
RAM-8 GB
Video memory - 2GB
hdd- 1TB

A:My laptop is showing 128 MB as a dedicated video memory instead of 2 GB?

The 128 MB is a frame buffer - not the video RAM.  The Intel GPU in the system will use system RAM for video.
If the system also has an AMD or nVidia GPU, realize that while it does have dedicated video RAM, it's not a true discrete GPU - it's a coprocessor for the Intel GPU.  Your applications need to be set up to use it through the control panel (Radeon or Optimus).

i have buyed nvedia geforce 210 graphics card (1gb)recently ,but it is showing dedicated memory of only 512 mb ...PLEASE HELP!!!!!!ur sugessions r required...
I have windows 7 ultimate 32 bit os

A:Nvedia geforce210 (1gb) showing dedicated memory of 512 mb?

Run this and post your system specs here or in your profile.

If the program in the above link confirms that you have 512 mb of dedicated memory, then I think the card has only that. You really sure that it is a 1GB card? (does it state so on the box and the manual?)

Hello, I own a Lenovo Legion Y520 (the one with 2tb HDD) and I would like to add an SSD to it as well. From what I've read, if I want to keep my HDD and add an SSD, I will need an M.2 type SSD. Also, I have found an SSD that I think would be compatible with my Y520, but I wanted to ask here before buying it. The SSD I'm talking about it the SSD WD Black 256GB PCI Express 3.0 x4 M.2 2280. I will also attach a picture of it, so if anyone could tell me if it's compatible, I'll be very thankful. This is the one

Dear Lenovo community,I am considering an ssd upgrade. I know that my laptop (Lenovo Legion Y520-15IKBN) supports m.2 NVMe gen 3.0 x4, but is it compatible with gen 3.0 x2? I found some good deals, they are actually about half the price of an x4 ssd ...Also, what length does it support? I found a link for the ssd that comes in it (in higher configurations), so is that the maximum length? Thanks in advance for your reply.

Hello all. I am about to buy the Legion Y520-15IKBN. It's the i7-7700HQ, GTX 1060  version. I have 2 questions though before I buy it.  1. I have a Seagate Barracuda 5TB 2,5" HDD, a Samsung 960 Evo NVMe 500GB and a HyperX Impact 16GB DDR4-2400 laptop RAM. Can I install them on this model or if I open it it will void the warranty?  2. The laptop comes with no OS. I have Windows 10 on my desktop PC. Since Windows are connected to the Outlook account (I think), will I be able to install and activate them on the laptop or I have to buy new? Thank you very much for any answers

Hey all,  Just recently bought a Lenovo Y520 gaming laptop. Overall very satisified with it! Last week I added an SSD drive to it and decided to do a fresh reformat from the BIOS so the laptop would run at full power without any bloatware holding it back.  Did the reformat sucessfully, installed all drivers, and now the laptop is running perfectly, except for one thing.  Since the reformat, Wifi has been giving me constant problems. I've tried just about every solution available on the net but so far have had no luck. It's main issue is: when I go to power on the laptop after being turned off for an extended period of time (at least 8-10 hours), there's no wifi at all whatsoever. Windows doesn't detect my wifi at all, even under network adapters! I've downloaded the latest drivers directly from Lenovo and even took it one step further by getting direct drivers from intel themselves. In this condition, it only detects my ethernet port, so when I go to diagnose it, it doesn't consider Wifi an issue because it doesn't think it exists.  The ONLY solution to get Wifi to work for me is to restart the computer at least once, load up the BIOS, go to the Configurations tab and disable/re-enable Wireless Lan. After that, I boot it with the saved changes and boom, Wifi suddenly works again. Thing is, I shouldn't have to do this every time to get Wifi to work. Before the reformat, the Wifi was working absolutely fine with no issues whatso... Read more

I was wondering about my laptop upgrade, far as i know, you simply cant upgrade GPU and CPU in my laptop. (These parts are soldered to my MB). But the thing i saw, that there are same laptop models, with different cpu's and gpu's. So it is possible to change motherboard, with different CPU and GPU for my laptop?
