nonreplaceable battery problem on HP ENVY x2 Detachable PC 1...

Q: nonreplaceable battery problem on HP ENVY x2 Detachable PC 1...

I've noticed the back of the laptop heating up for the past year, and usually place the screen section on a USB-powered fan platform to reduce the heat. When I put it to "sleep" I then turn off the AC power. I've been able to run it without AC power for 2-4 hrs on numerous occasions. However, about a week ago when I tried to resume from "sleep" before turning on ACpower, the CPU suddenly turned off. At the time I was using an external USB modem which was plugged in. So I turned on the AC power, and restarted the laptop. That happened a few times, and at least twice I saw a brief message on screen saying the battery level was below 3%, so CPU was turning off. Usually in sleep mode battery storage would not drop below 93%. In the past week the battery has stopped charging. (Last night it said the battery level was 0%; all day today it shows 83%.) So I have to use the ACpower to keep the laptop running.HP Battery check today produced the following results:Warranty Type: 3Cycle count: 187 / 1000Manufacturer: 331CBattery Age: 780 daysSerial Number: 02255 2014/09/30Temperature: 36 °CDesign Capacity: 4580 mAhFull Charge Capacity: 3818 mAh (83%)Remaining Capacity: 3193 mAhCurrent: 0 mATerminal Voltage: 8254 mVDesign Voltage: 7600 mVCell Voltage 1: 4127 mVCell Voltage 2: 4127 mVCell Voltage 3: 0 mVCell Voltage 4: 0 mVStatus: 82AC Power: YesCT Number: 6EJHQ03WY7J48YFailure ID: MAHW60-000000-MFGH6K-C0E103 I'm instructed to replace the battery...I've had this laptop since January 2015, and warranty expired in January 2016. I'm currently in SE Asia (far from any HP service centers). The battery in this laptop is "not replaceable" except by HP technicians, and I've not found any way to order a replacement battery. Any advice? Anything like an "external battery pack" available for this model HP ENVY x2 Detachable PC 13?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My wife's HP Envy X2 13-j000dx video display has intermittent, vertical lines that "flash" on the screen all the time.  It was purchased from Best Buy with Windows 8.1 on it and upgraded to Windows 10 some time ago. All the HP and Microsoft software are up to date.I booted into the UEFI software and ran many of the diagnostic tools, all of which "Passed." The Vertical line flickering problem almost never appeared, but when it did appear it was running a "Memory" test. And it expecially appeared when running the Memory Component Test.I looked into purchasing new memory modules, replacing them, and running the tests again - but it appears that all 8GB of the System Memory is "On-Board". Meaning I'd have to purchase a new Motherboard to replace the memory.  Who thought that bright idea up? If I'm right, and it is the memory, it turns a simple $30 job into a serveral hundred dollar job. Bad design. As I stated earlier - ALL the tests "Pass"  - including the System Board, Video and Memory - but any test that runs a "Memory test" the intermittent vertical lines appear. Is there something specific I can try that "Proves" or "Disproves" a main memory module(s) is bad?It seems I just purchased this system a little over 2 years ago.  I have 4, older, HP / Compaq systems here at home (1 running "XP" and 1 running "Vista") that have NEVER had ANY (other than a virus) problem -- and they are at least 8 years old. A:Envy x2 detachable Bluetooth keyboard

To reset an X2 detachable it is only necessary to  set the keyboard into "discovery? mode: Turn off keyboard. Hold finger down on Bluetooth button until it blinks continuously.Go to device manager and select "Add Device" you should see  "keyboard (ready to pair)?Click on pair and let drivers install. The keyboard is a simple Bluetooth device.  Attach it like any other Bluetooth device.  That is what the little Bluetooth key is for.Unfortunately, HP forgot to document this and the techs get this mixed up with the notebook instructions and the tablet instructions. Happy Bluetooth-ing.

The Bluetooth connection on my keyboard goes out frequently and will fix itself in a few seconds. Last night I thought this was what was happening, but pressing the Bluetooth button (F10 key also) does nothing. I turned the keyboard on and off several times, left it attached thinking it might charge, and everything, but still it is completely unresponsive.Replacement keyboards are in the range of $200, which I can't afford. This laptop was bought refurbished. Any troubleshooting might be appreciated. Because it's refurbished, I have no idea what the warranty status is.

I have searched across this site and other forums and have yet to find a solid answer to this question even though numerous users are having the same issue. This keyboard has worked fine for me for about two years, but now all of a sudden it will not hold a charge.  Even after turning the keyboard off, plugging into the tablet for 24 hours, and then turning back on, the keyboard only works for about five minutes.   I can only assume that this is an issue with the power going from the tablet to the keyboard, but when trying to update any drivers related to batteries or the keyboard it says I already have the latest driver.  Please help because I'm essentially stuck with only using a tablet for a computer as of right now.

Had an issue with my detachable keyboard losing bluetooth connection.  I then noticed when I would lose this connection and go to the device manager the bluetooth adapter would not show up.  This drove me nuts because it was not always happening at any specific time but randomly.  I would have to reboot a couple of times for it to come back then all would be good until the next time.  After almost two months of this I started to catch on that it would mainly do this when I was on battery power and when I hooked up to the power cord and reboot all would be fine.  I finally found the resolution on a Lenovo web site that has cured this issue.  Haven't lost connection yet and I have even tried to make it lose connection short of shutting it off. 1) Go to the Device Manager (Windows key + X)2) Select Bluetooth and right click on your Bluetooth adapter (mine was Intel Wireless Bluetooth (R) 4.0).3) Select Power Management tab.4) Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off device to save Power."5) Click on OK I tried finding this on the hp.com site but never did so it would be nice if they would post it because I am sure others are having this issue on battery power.  Mine would almost instantly lose connection as soon as I unplugged from power and went to battery power so no doubt I am not the only one with this issue.

Does anyone know of an external battery pack that will work with the Spectre x2? I've tried 2 packs and various cables and nothing seems to work. I even wasted my time and bought the HP external battery that the HP support staff promised me would be compatible. Thx

A:Spectre X2 12" detachable external battery via USB-C

Why HP's the odd duckIn the chart above you can see there?s one vendor with a glaring-red problem: HP with its Spectre X2. Keep in mind, I?ve updated the Spectre X2 with the latest UEFI and it still won?t work with third-party chargers. Here?s why. After speaking with HP officials about the issue, it appears the company is just playing it safe. Fearing that a counterfeit or out-of-spec charger could make the touchscreen or audio subsystem flaky, HP has limited the access non-certified chargers have to the device. For now, HP exec Mike Nash told us, only ?overnight? charging, or charging while the device is off, is supported.?Are we being too conservative?? Nash asked. ?I don?t think so.?HP is committed to USB-C?it already has four or five devices that use it for charging. The company just doesn?t believe the spec is ready for interchangeability yet.Lee Atkinson, a distinguished technologist at HP who?s been leading the effort to corral PC makers around USB-C, said the upcoming Power Delivery 3.0 spec should solve many of the outstanding issues, such as how much voltage to supply and how to control which way power flows between two devices. Atkinson said OEMs all agree it has to be done correctly and with group consensus.

Can any one suggest an external battery that can charge the Spectre X2 12" detachable via USB-C?

A:Spectre X2 12" detachable external battery via USB-C

I too would also like to find an external battery pack and/or cable that can charge the x2. Although the Spectre x2 has relatively poor battery life, I was willing to purchase it as it charges via USB-C and I incorrectly assumed any high-power USB charger or external battery pack would charge it. I've tried a number of USB chargers and battery packs with a Belkin USB-A to USB-C charger cable and have had no luck charging the Spectre x2.

Hello, WF here. I asked the retail assistant what to do when my notebook battery went down to 5%. Advised to completely shut it down, after charging, instead of sleep. I left it shutdown for a week or so only to find the battery completely drained. Even after charging for 20 hours yesterday there is no LED charging light. The notebook will not turn on at all despite holding the power button for 30 seconds.
I can't test and calibrate the battery by pressing the F2 key as suggested by the HP Forum post since the notebook won't turn on. Neither can I use the HP Support Assistant to check the battery.
It is such a pity to see my new notebook like this as the rear camera works excellently and there are folders stored on the 500GB hard drive. Sending my notebook for battery replacement is not an option as there are confidential files on both drives. Could you help?

I have started having problems with the secondary battery on my HP Envy x2. I've had it for a couple of months now and to begin with everything was fine. A couple of weeks ago I began to have intermittent warnings when I turned on the Envy. It said that there was a problem with the calibration of the secondary battery and it needed callibrated or possibly replaced. The problem is that even though it says this it sometimes shows that the battery has successfully fully charged and sometimes it doesn't. It doesn't always appear to use the charge sitting in the secondary battery, this is intermittent too. I have been through the battery callibration procedures and although the battery again shows as 100% charge it still says the battery needs callibrated.

I am trying to help someone remove the main battery from an HP Envy 14 -1000. I am doing this remotely from 1000 miles away and the person is not very mechanical.  On the bottom of the laptop there is a latch with the battery symbol. How far is that latch supposed to slide? Should it slide all the way over and cover the little battery graphic? It only seems to slide about 5mm. Also, once it slides, how does the cover or battery remove? What direction, does it pull up, or does it slide off? I could use some very specific instructions as it does not seem to be cooperating. Last question: Once we get it off, will there be a battery number on it? How do we figure out which battery we need?

A:Removing battery from HP Envy 14?

The Maintenance & Service Manual gives pretty good directions for removing battery:http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02835360 And, yes the battery should have a number on it.

I have had my ENVY 15 for a while now, and the battery life went from the factory "10 hours" to zero. It literally doesn't even sense the battery anymore. A week later, the keyboard looked bowed so I flipped it over and took out the battery. It expanded to over 3 times the factory thickness. I was wondering as to if I could get a replacement?I cannot upload a good picture as the max size for pictures is 1 Mb and my picture is 1.6.

I managed to compress an image. So here is the battery. Also, no it has never been damaged in any sort (including water).

The battery SM03XL of my notebook is broken and needs to be replaced. Are there any reliable shops/places where I could order a new battery? Although the notebook is just ~14months old i couldn't find anything on the internet or in local shops.

Hi as usual, a problem starts after warranty. And just 3 months, lol.Anyway, when I remove the power cord, it shuts down the laptop. In other words, it is not charging the battery. It can either be the battery or the charging circuit board. is there any way of telling exactly what is wrong before I have to dish out more of my money to HP??? Thank you
