Lenovo Yoga 710 - Unable to boot up laptop

Q: Lenovo Yoga 710 - Unable to boot up laptop

Hi everyone, My laptop (Lenovo Yoga 710 Ideapad 15IKB 80V5) is not able to start up. I recently had an issue with my audio, so I uninstalled the audio drivers, reset my laptop, and tried to reinstall them. When I reinstalled Realtek, it did not launch or show that it was installed on my computer (and I tried this multiple times).I then went to restore my laptop to the point before I uninstalled the driver in the first place. The restoration did not work for whatever reason, and I received the blue screen saying something about my PC not restarting properly and that it would try to fix itself. I continued to get that same blue screen for a few times, and then it gave me a different screen with varying start up/restore options. I tried almost all of them besides ones that have to do with USB restore files (which I do not have). They did not work. I then got a black screen on start up with only my cursor. I tried stickykeys, ctrl-alt-delete, windows key-volume up, and any other boot up combinations I could think of. Nothing worked and the screen never changed. I'm stumped and I have no idea what to do or how to fix it. I could really use some help and advice. Thank you very much in advance! Katherine

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi community, I am hoping that someone can help me get my laptop back to life. I wanted to do a clean Windows 10 install on my Yoga 2 Pro, which I have done once before without any problem. However this time when booting from the Win 10 boot USB drive nothing happened for a long time (several minutes), so I restarted and tried again, still the same. This was weird because I knew the boot USB was fine, as I had used it before for this purpose on this laptop. Next step was obviously making sure the USB device and boot files were good, so i tested on another PC and everything worked fine - now here comes the really weird part...after this I was not able to boot from the SSD (or the USB, or any other boot device) anymore, as soon as anything not related to the BIOS was booted, the screen would just be stuck at either the Lenovo logo or a blank screen. This also includes recovery (via the Novo menu) I have tried a lot of things, but nothing seems to work:- resetting the BIOS- trying out any BIOS setting that would make sense in this context- hard resetting the BIOS by unplugging the CMOS over a night (which worked, but didnt solve the issue)- trying different USB boot images and formats (all working on similar PCs) these are the facts/findings:- BIOS seems to work fine- boot devices are discovered in the BIOS boot manager and appear as they should- boot devices tried works fine on other PCs (no issues)- the Novo button usually works, but have stopped worki... Hey Guys,Im trying to get a laptop working for my brother. He has a Yoga 500-14IBD. The laptop works perfectly fine with the current hard drive running windows 10.He has been sent out a new hard drive which has been preloaded with windows 10 but adapted with specialised software (which shouldn't be too important for the issue).I installed the new hard drive into the Laptop and it won't boot past the Windows Boot Manager. The laptop does recognise the Hard drive and see's it is connected but wont boot into it. Where it gets weird is that I tried this hard drive in my other Lenovo T420 Laptop and it boots into the hard drive no problems. This rules out hard ware issues. Is there something which needs to be adjusted in the BIOS to allow the Yoga to boot up into this hard drive? I have tried switching from UEFI Mode or Legacy BIOS mode but this didnt make any real difference. There was an error showing in Legacy mode regarding PXE-E61 Media Test Failure Error but this occurred when the laptop worked in my T420 so it shouldnt be related.  I have tested another Windows 10 installation Hard drive on the Yoga (the one from my T420) and it worked. Just a note the hard drive that isnt working is not and SSD but the ones which are working are SSD'sAny advice would be appreciated

Hello all,

I'm trying to boot a Lenovo laptop off of a USB flash drive with Win7 installed on it, however whenever I attempt to do so I receive:

File: \Boot\BCD

Status: 0xc0000098

Info: The Windows Boot Configuration Data file does not contain a valid OS entry.

Any assistance would be highly appreciated.

A:Lenovo laptop unable to boot Win7

Fortunately, I was able to resolve this issue by re-installing Win7 onto the USB, however I've now encountered another problem:

When asked where to install Win7, no drives are appearing in the search field.

Any ideas as to why that might be occurring and how to resolve it?

Good evening all I purchased a Lenovo Yoga 3 earlier this year in Australia and have since moved to the Cayman Islands. The Yoga has a standard 2 prong Australian charger which is 100V-240V and 50-60Hz. I have purchased 2 different international adapters which I have plugged into 2 different outlets at the hotel but my lap top does not charge.  My dad suggested that I try plugging it into the hairdryer outlet in the bathroom as it may have higher voltage and that worked. I was also able to charge it by plugging it into an open socket that comes out of a clock at the hotel (pics attached). I'll be leaving the hotel shortly and am worried that I will not be able to charge my lap top in my new home. There are limited computer/electronics stores here. I'm not a very technical person so need your help, please! The notebook is under warranty but Lenovo said there is no issue with the laptop or charger because it works in the hairdryer outlet and that they have not heard of this issue before. However, I understand that the charger is designed so that it can work with various voltages and it doesn't seem to. Does anyone have any suggested solutions? The only one I can think of is to order a US charger as I understand they are the same shape and voltage as the Cayman Islands. Many thanks in advance for your assistance! Gemma

A:Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro - purchased in Aust - unable to ...

Cayman islands use US type plugs, but I would expect an Australian charger would work with a simple plug converter.

I am very unsatisfied by my Yoga 2 13 running Windows 8.1 which has become unusable. It is less then 2 years old, and now, I get a Windows Blue Screen of Death almost every 5 minutes.I even need to use another PC to enter this post, I did not have enough time on my Yoga 2.So, almost every 5 minutes, the computer crashes with a BSOD.I completely reinitialized the PC few days ago, nothing changed. Moreover, when I reboot the PC, quite frequently, it cannot reboot the first time because it does not see the SSD (see attached picture).I thought it was the SSD. I found the Crystal Disk Info utility, and when I run it against my SSD, everything is fine, no problem. So, if someone can help me troubleshoot this, I really don't know where to start.

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

So, I have been searching all over the internet for this issue where the Yoga keyboard flashes and then nothing.  I have seen lots of YouTube videos of the problem, lots of forum posts describing it.  Sometimes, someone is able to do some sequence of hitting the reset button and holding the power button for over a minute that gets it up and running again, but the majority of the time, the problem still seems to be unresolved. Has anyone had this fix performed?  How much did it cost and where did you take your machine to have it done.  Mine is just out of warranty (figures!).  Thanks for your help.(Sent from a 12-year old Toshiba laptop that just keeps on running, sitting next to an 18 year old Lenovo that is useless.)

Last night I was working on my laptop and it suddenly came up with the BIOS screen and said No Boot Device Found.  I restarted it and the Lenovo logo comes up, it shows as if it's loading then the screen goes black with a cursor and that's as far as it will go.  I was able to get it into safe mode without Network but it wouldn't let me run any virus software.  I have tried today to get back into safe mode with networking no go.  Now it won't even come up in safe mode without networking.  I'm getting very frustrated.  I have my Windows 10 USB that I used to install the upgrade so I tried that.  No go.  I made a bootable USB with AVG on it.  No go  Has anyone got any other ideas other than trash it?Please let me know I appreciate any help you can offer

we've dealt with these problems before, unfortunately this time we cannot find the onekey recovery for this particular model.  ive scoured the net and come up null.  basically the system image and recovery image is corrupted on the msata ssd.  regular recovery media will not detect the ssd nor will the bios.  the OS partition is intact and not corrupt.  ive tried rebuilding the bcd to no avail.  normally we can generally get a system image from the manufacturer and backup files and reinstall via image, but Lenovo refuses to issue a recovery as the warranty expired on Jan 1st 2016.  So basically the customer is out a pricey computer because lenovo will not provide a recovery, even with serial and proof of purchase.  Traditional reinstall will not work either as it needs to be flashed via an image.  i find it to be ridiculous as the customer has no recourse to correct the issue.  i have verified the ssd is functioning correctly via an external adapter that I use to work with msata/m.2/mpcie etc.  Im at a loss here on what to do as Lenovo is zero help.  Does anyone here have the recovery for the yoga 2 pro please and thank you.

Hi Guys.Need help.I have Lenovo Yoga 2 11 ( 2years old). There was no issue till 2 days back. Have given the issue details below.Details :1. Laptop went into issue - " Windows is not responding" and then got shut down.2. Tried to restart. After booting, the screen did show that "Windows is attempting repair". It was in the same state for more than 24 hours.3. I did a hard shut down and tried to restart. But then it displayed "No Bootable device, hit any key".4. I downloaded Windows Recovery media (Windows 10 X64) to USB and booted from there to fix windows start up issue repair.5. After repair, tried to reboot. Faces the issue (point 3) again and again.6. Looked into the BIOS set up and found that nothing is there under 'EFI section'. The Boot mode is 'UEFI' and not allowing me to edit, so can't change it to Legacy.7. Browsed through Lenovo support forum and other web help for a day, tried everything, but not able to change boot set up or boot from harddrive.8. I thought Hard drive may have been disconnected, but on BIOS Information section, I can see Hard disk information. So it seems hard disk is good. Can anybody help me with valuable input please ? Hi community,

I am hoping that someone can help me get my laptop back to life.

I wanted to do a clean Windows 10 install on my Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro, which I have done once before without any problems. However this time when booting from the Win 10 boot USB drive nothing happened for a long time (several minutes), so I restarted and tried again, still the same. This was weird because I knew the boot USB was fine, as I had used it before for this purpose on this laptop. Next step was obviously making sure the USB device and boot files were good, so i tested on another PC and everything worked fine - now here comes the really weird part...after this I was not able to boot from the SSD (or the USB, or any other boot device) anymore, as soon as anything not related to the BIOS was booted, the screen would just be stuck at either the Lenovo logo screen or a blank screen. Boot failure also includes the Lenovo recovery option (accesible via the Novo menu)

I have tried a lot of things, but nothing seems to work:
- resetting the BIOS
- trying out any BIOS settings that would make sense in a boot context
- hard resetting the BIOS by unplugging the CMOS over a night (which worked, but didnt solve the issue)
- trying different USB boot images and formats (all working on similar PCs)

these are the facts/findings:
- BIOS seems to work fine
- boot devices are discovered in the BIOS boot manager and appear as they should (they're detected as intended)
- the boot devices tested works fin... Read more

I truly loved Lenono products until now.  We bought a Lenovo Yoga 3 14. 2 weeks into the  use, it went to sleep or died and would not come back. We could nto reset it, hard boot it or anything (even tech support was stumped).  Our replacement was shipped and two weeks later, again it wont boot. So the questions. It said 63% battery at night. We plugged it in over night. In the morning, the power button would not start the machine. When plugged in, the battery light is a constant white. When unplugged, the battery light goes out. The power button, when plugged in, stays light but the power button light flashes and goes off. no combination of anything will get it to boot (like the last one).  1. Has anyone experienced this? 2. Is there a real hard boot/reset option?3. What in the heck could we have done to have the same thing happen to two machines? I am calling Lenovo tomorrow to get my money back, but I have searched google and here and have not see anyone with this problem (exactly) and even the close ones are not the same.  Help?!?!?!Don

However, when I pressed BIOS Setup, I got a black screen instead of BIOS and decided to turn it off after a while. Then I tried to get into BIOS again and it did not work anymore. I can't get in.  I can start the laptop, it shows the Logo, but that's it.  Tried all sorts of button-pressing without success. The only thing that changes something is ctrl+alt+del which makes the logo blink once and then it's back to being hung up.  Please- if anydbody has an idea, I don't wanna send it somewhere for two weeks and lose all my data.  Does anybody know if I lose warranty if I open it to safe my data btw?

A:Lenovo Yoga 910 - crashed and does not boot properly

Hi ld4795,

Greetings.

Removing the hard drive for backup or even for upgrade should not void the warranty but it would still be best to call in technical support to inform them of your need to back up your files.

As you remove the hard drive, you can take the opportunity to perhaps remove the battery (AC charger unplugged) and press the power button to drain remaining flea power.

Connecting the charger without the battery and hard drive to press the Novo button (12 seconds) to turn on and access the BIOS menu can be done. Check if display for BIOS to appear so you may set it to defaults ( F9) and save and exit (F10).

You can confirm these steps with tech support as this would help them identify the point of failure and parts needed for service. Check on the hardware manual for disassembly guide likewise, the service module here for visual reference.

Update us how it goes.

Regards

Hi,   i have posted before on this subject. I purchased the Lenovo yoga 500 Laptop model 80N5 , serial number R9OG44P3  but  the 23/10/15 with a year?s warranty,  but the warranty on this machine started 5/6/2015 . The Laptop is hardly used, I ran some updates which worked fine, then it shut down and wouldn't power up.I have had it looked at by 2 independant companies who have said that the power brick  caused a burnt chip on the motherboard and that a power suge could have done it!  I was under the impression that the Power brick has built in surge protector and woulnt have gone as far as the unit to damage the motherboard! i have been told by the company that i bougth it from it was negligence by me that has caused the unit to malfunction . They want a report saying a manufactor fault then it will get replacced.I have seen on the Lenovo website recall for power cords and batteries, can you advise if my model is one of those and apart from that what else can i do .

Hi! I bought this one 2  days ago and I'm amazed how bad the keyboard is. Just check the video:https://youtu.be/n4oN6H3x2nQThe keyboard actually doesn't match the photos: enter key is weird form and there are two \ keys. Space key sticks depending on which part of it you click. It also makes a weird noise. Definitely not the quality you expect from a premium model. I would actually be happy to return it, but I'm in another country for a while so looks like I'm in trouble. This is the second Yoga I have, but seems that I will never buy a Lenovo again.

A:Lenovo Yoga 710 - the worse laptop keyboard ever

Yeah, you see a lot of complaings about those keyboards, they are trying to make them too thin in you ask me. I would return it if you do not like it, even if you have to pay shipping.   The Thinkpad line have much better keyboards, and in my opionion are far more durable too.  Good Luck,

Hi A-- I have not been able to find any support information about this -  I have a LaCie 500GB USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 SSD Drive, that I would like to boot off of USB-C. When I go into the BIOS during boot (press enter, then F12) I can see the drive listed, but when I select the drive, it returns to the list and does not boot. I have it set for Both (Legacy and UEFI), and have tried UEFI only with the same results. I have a Corsair USB 3.0 flash drive with the same boot image on it, and it works as expected. Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, I have a new ThinkPad X1 Yoga running Windows 10. I had created a recovery USB from within Windows and later used the USB drive to perform a clean reinstall. The repair process seemed to complete and asked for permission to clear the TPM keys. I granted that permission, and the system restarted. However, the boot process never completed and hasn't since. When the system is started now, it hangs at the splash screen with the Lenovo logo. Entering the boot menu and selecting a specific device results in a blank screen (the display is on, but no content is displayed). It doesn't matter which device is chosen - I've tried multiple bootable USBs, the installed hard drive, and a USB optical drive. The BIOS setup is accessible, though none of the changes I've tried have fixed the problem. Switching to Diagnostic Boot from Quick Boot briefly flashes a message that states "ThinkVantage Active Protection sensor diagnostics start," but nothing else is displayed. I've also tried clearing the CMOS using the reset switch on the back, but this did not resolve the issue. Any thoughts as to what the problem is or how to resolve it? Thanks in advance.

Was prompted to update the bios.  During restart the system never rebooted.  It's now in a state where no screen or sound comes.  Just a flash of the keyboard backlight, red i light, and green fn light.  Any suggestion how to bring it back to life?

My Yoga was powered on, I was logged in, and the screen was locked. I left my office for a minute and when I returned, it was at the "Lenovo" boot screen (white text on black background). I don't know if it auto-updated or something, but now I can't get it to do anything. I've tried various combinations of holding down the power button and hitting the "Novo" key, but the only two things I can make it do is power completely off or show me this screen. It won't get far enough in the boot process to allow me to boot to my recovery USB. I've had it less than two weeks.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

I have recently purchased a Yogo 500 which has been refurbished by Lenovo. Everything seems fine once it's up and running but it seems to take an age to boot up past the Lenovo logo. I end up with a black screen and my curser shows a blue circle. This can last a good 3 or 4 minutes. I have the i5 version with 8gb RAM and a 8gb SSD alonside a regular HDD. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to resolved this? I do have a spare SSD I could pop in but I'm not exactly sure how I go about doing that... or if it would help? Many thanksStuart

A:Lenovo Refurbished Yoga 500 Slow Boot Times

Hi jimmisavage ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

On slow booting system , testing how it behaves on safe mode can help check if add on programs are causing this along with running diagnostics.  If no hardware issue detected on the test , then you may proceed checking with windows update if there are any process running in the background like installation and update.

Using another account such as local administrator  instead of a microsoft account isolates any Microsoft features and software usually synched with Microsoft Store applications can help.

Clean boot can make boot up faster by disabling non essential programs everytime you restart. Some would even disable hibernate to speed it up and likewise increase data space specially if you do not really need to use such feature.

Hope this helps answer your query.

My Yoga 14 ( Type 20FY) cannot boot anymore.  It was fine in the morning, but refused to boot afternoon after being shipped around on a luggage cart.  Now it only lights up the keyboard after power on, and then does nothing, no Lenovo logo, no beep to signal any error. I had tried the following methods to no avail, draining out onboard battery, pushing the emergency reset hole, disconnecting onboard battery and CMOS battery.  Every time it failed to boot after reconnecting it with AC power.  I also connected it with external monitor over hdmi, but nothing to show up after boot it up. The machine is configured with multi-boot to several Linux flavors and Windows 10, so I am knowledgeable to be quite sure it is not a software problem.  Please help me!

Hello, I have a Lenovo Yoga 3-1470 64-bit, which was originally windows 8. After updating to windows 10, the audio (Conexant HD Audio) starts to have some problems, such as the need to keep restarting my laptop to get the audio back. Recently it has gotten worse, hence I decided to uninstall the Conexant HD Audio driver from my device manager, with the hope that I can reinstall the updated windows 10 Conexant HD Audio driver. But after uninstalling, I found out that I cannot reinstall it back. The device driver installation wizard will only install for 2 - 3%, then a messagebox ERROR will appear stating that "Driver Installation Failed: Could not find the device for this driver." I have tried installing windows 8 and 10 versions of the Conexant HD Audio Drivers, but they do not work. Currently, my audio isn't working anymore. Can anyone help me, Thank you very much.
