Preferred Solution: video out to TV acting strange.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Ok, I recently bought a new Belkin Wireless-N router to attempt in fix this problem. The problem persist.

The problem is, even though my computer is successfully connected to my router, and wireless and my Xbox 360 can connect with NO PROBLEMS AT ALL, for whatever reason despite the fact it says that I'm connected, at times, I will randomly not be able to access any websites, despite the fact I can still be connected to AIM (Strange right)? If I connect my desktop (the computer in discussion) directly to my router I get a message sayin there's limited to no connectivity, but my router is connected and obviously things are fine.

I am on a Compaq Presario SR1907CL, running Windows XP (home) on SP2 ( I would update to SP3 but I'm not sure if my connection can handle the download :/). If any other information is need please ask me and I'll be happy to provide it, if instructed on how to.

Thank you very much!

Last night I was surfing the net, and afterward my PC (windows XP, service pack 3) started acting strange. Even with Internet Explorer closed, audio advertisements were playing thru my PC speakers -- that's never happened before. With IE open, random pages are opening, and the pages I am trying to open are opening VERY slowly or not at all. PC seems very slow in general.

I have Norton Internet Security on my PC. I ran a scan with that before finding this forum, but it found nothing.

I've followed this forum's instructions for "First steps", so following is a paste of the DDS.txt log and attached is a zip file with the Attach.txt and Ark.txt logs.

Can anyone help???

hey guys,

my pc, on microsoft vista is acting really really strange lately.
When i turn it on, first of all it sounds like a vacuum and it didnt do that weeks ago, only when i opened up big programs. second of all i keep getting bsod's so thats pretty nasty too. Also when i start up it keeps giving me messages about something with SympSys tray or something. And I keep getting messages that programs don't work anymore and should be closed. this is really bad and it used to be a very fast pc but slowed down massively. i deleted alot of big files and have more than half of my HDD left so i don't think thats the problem.

cheers,
Odolwa

Hello everyone.
My Windows 8, After a long time of using started acting very strange. I have NOD Smart Security as a anti-virus software did a scan on a system drive found some irrelevant viruses that i had,a win32 chub worm, but that's not the exact problem.
I remember having an adware that starts browser with a spammy startpage, but i deleted it now.
THE REAL PROBLEM is i don't why(even after having many experience with pcs) After some time or a random time pc acts very strange, apps like Steam, any other even task manager go nuts, I have screenshoting tool called Lightshot even that thing goes nuts, when i press PrntScrn it has to show transparent screenshot to click and size the areas of the shot, but it shows White or buggy screen when problems starts, Steam gives some errors like can't find some files, task manager asks for a admin permissions, UTorrent starts to display errors like "Not enough storage is available to process this command". Sometimes pc freezes with lack of memory (last time it froze couldnt open tskmgr). Then after i a restart it's all gone, but things like browser cookies, app datas like (Download Master's download list) are gone.
I really don't its a virus problem, or hardware, or corrupt OS.

hello brutalsamNot certain if you considered win32 chub worm an irrelevant virus, as it is far from that.It is a chat client worm with backdoor Trojan functionality. The worm uses API calls for both Windows Messenger and AOL Messenger to send messages to contacts, with an attached file containing a copy of the worm. Worm:Win32/Neeris.C connects to an IRC server and waits to receive commands, such as to self-update, remove itself, download various programs and malware, or terminate running processes.morehttp://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/threat/encyclopedia/Entry.aspx?Name=Worm%3AWin32%2FNeeris.C#tab=2 Due to what is happening I feel your best course of cleaning is a deeper look. Please follow this Preparation Guide, do steps 6,7 and 8 and post in a new topic.Let me know if all went well.

Hello all -

PC info:
I have had my Toshiba Satellite Laptop A105-S4211 since August 2006. The OS is Windows XP. My anti-virus software is McAfee. I occasionally run the following programs: HijackThis, AdAware, Spybot search and destroy, SUPERantispyware, and Rogue remover. There is another program I've run once that took a snapshot of all the processes running in the background - I can't remember the name of it, though, and can't seem to find it on my PC.

The Problem(s):
My computer always seems to have something going on in the background. It has become increasingly sluggish. McAfee seems to always be installing something and scanning - but never finds anything wrong. When I open windows like the Task Manager, the buttons are strangely outlined in white and when I place the cursor over them, they turn completely white - they didn't do this when I first got the machine. When I open Firefox, it seems that every other time it opens as if I had just installed it - all my bookmarks, customizations, even my homepage are gone. Firefox will not run ActiveX control (for use with Facebook), and will freeze up and shut down when trying to work on certain websites where uploading photos/files is involved.

I realize that these are all very generalized and generic issues...but they have been going on for a while (over a year) and seem to be slowly getting worse. I do not shut my machine down very often (I usually just close the screen for the night), but when I do ... Read more

Hi guys!
Two weeks ago i installed the AVG free edition on my PC (HP Pavillon dv6000 series) after a virus infection.
Everything seemed to worked nice till yesterday night when AVG blocked a trojan attack. After a while i shut down my laptop and today first thing in the morning i found out that the winamp shortcut did not work. Moreover the AVG icon is missing from the notification area. MSCONFIG command shows that AVG starts same time with my PC but the icon is missing. I also can not AVG (seems unable to operate).
I suspect some suspicious things are going on. I also found (through CTRL +ALT+DEL) that a strange 1159008889:2263739066.exe exist on C/WINDOWS.
Can you please give me your input on what should i do? Is my PC infected again?
I will post a hijackthis log shortly.
Thank you

also have run malewayrebytes and tdsskiller ...both came back clean ....I also noticed that it took about 4 to 5 minuted to shut down when I restarted it ...

CPU use is not over loaded and I have plenty of ram ... it used to take no more that a minute to boot

oh one more thing ...after it finnaly boots ..programs seem ok ...I played wow for about 4 hours with no issues

I'd try running chkdsk /r command.

Start/Run...type chkdsk /r and hit Enter.

Type Y and hit Enter.

Reboot.

Upon completion of command, the system will boot into Windows.

Hello You have an open malware removal topic here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/522080/my-pc-is-acting-strangeand-no-virus-shows-up/Now that you have posted a log, you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a MRT Team member, nor should you ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show in the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer. From this point on the MRT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean. Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the MRT Team members are EXTREMELY busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the MRT Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. Hi, I am running Vista and in the past couple of weeks or so have noticed that my PC is acting very strange. I dont usually turn the PC off when it's not in use and so it just goes to screensaver and I turn the monitor off. Well, I've heard what sounds like someone plugging the audio in (the speakers make the noise like when the jack is plugged into the back of the PC) and then I hear the noise it makes when you plug a USB device in (kind of a bong, I guess??) It makes that noise once and the twice in rapid succession likes something's been unplugged and then plugged back in again. When I turn the monitor on I dont see anything running and nothing looks like it's running in the background when I open task manager. I'm beginning to think someone's hacked me or is using my pc to send spam or something because when I open Mozilla there are a lot of sites in the history I know I havent been to. I've checked and remote connections are not enabled. I dont know what to do about this. I bought a new video card last year and have had no problems with it but recently I noticed that the fan on it has been making a noise. I pulled it out and looked at it and it's kind of loose in its housing and I think it's rubbing on the housing which is making that noise. Could it be an issue with the card? I think the video card is also the sound card but I'm not SURE of that. The reason I bring that up is that I've noticed sometimes when I unplug my headphones that the sound doesnt work ... Read more

I posted this right before Christmas but no one looked at it until the 1st and then it got closed so here goes again.

I've noticed that about every 15 minutes or so I will hear a sound across my speakers like the power has been turned on (the PC is on at this time and it happens whether the screensaver has come on or not) and then I hear three bongs like something has connected via USB, disconnected, and then connected again. I started having some weird issues right after I began noticing this. First, when I run my antivirus (The Shield) it takes a really long time to scan. This isnt that weird because it took a while before (like a day because of so many files) but it's now taking more like 5 or 6 days. A couple of times I turned on my monitor and got a message saying that The Shield had been unloaded (I have no clue what this means) and that I needed to contact tech support. I then had to close the program from the toolbar and reopen it at which time it booted and began scanning only to be "unloaded" again the next morning when I turned the monitor on. Later that same day, I came in and all there was was a black screen with the mouse. I could move the mouse but there was no desktop. I rebooted and it did the same thing so I rebooted into safe mode. It came up in safe mode and worked so I rebooted into regular windows and that worked. Since then I've had no other issues other than the USB bong thing every 15 minutes or so. http://www.techsupportforum.com/f56/...ml#post2963019

So i've done that and it says my PC has been infected by something, and I saved a log - I was hoping someone could help me out big time, because this problem is really getting to me now!!

Thanks all!!

Hello,

That is one log, of the three required.

I need to see the logs from DDS.

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here, here or here.
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds to run the tool. When done, DDS will open two (2) logs: DDS.txt
Attach.txt

Save both reports to your desktop.
-----------------------------------------------------

Please include the following logs in your thread:Contents of the DDS.txt posted as text in your reply
Attach the Attach.txt to your post by clicking the Manage Attachments button under Additonal Options>Attach Files on the composition page. Browse to where you saved the file, and click Upload.

Did you follow these steps to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 so you know you have the best install possible? If not I'd do it over deleting all partitions during the reinstall.

Be sure to read the Special Note to HP Owners at the end that will show you how to preserve the onboard Diagnostics triggered by the ESC key, if it will still run. Now would be a good time to try and run it.

Otherwise work through the Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7

Hello again,

I made a topic earlier about this problem, but someone decided to take it off. Sorry if i violated some sort of rule, but I wasn't sure where to post my problem, and i wasn't sure if a HijackThis log would help or not.

I made some changes to my registry a week or so ago based on recommendations for tweakguides.com

My computer did fun smoother and feel more responsive, but it seems that some problems have come up:

1) When I try playing any game on STEAM (counterstrike, day of defeat, etc) it uses the defaults (for cs, it's left hand, 16-bit graphics) and no matter what I do, it stays stuck that way. The biggest problem is that I end up lagging and getting blamed for speed-hacking.

2) AIM Triton does not work for me since everytime someone IMs me, it just freezes. I've swtiched to AIM 5.9 for now, but I miss the features of Triton.

3) IE DOES NOT WORK WHATSOEVER. I use firefox, but when I have to switch to IE, it just crashes and burns. Ugh.

4) Tibia will not actually CLOSE. Tibia is an MMORPG and whenever I close the client it disappears. When I go check under the windwos task manager, I find that it's still running in the background.

Those are the biggest problems for now, but I'm pretty sure more will come up soon...

someone plz help!!

A:My Xp Is Acting Strange...

The first place to start is by undoing those tweaks to see if they were the cause. If you're unable to locate them, then I'd suggest a system restore to a date prior to the tweaks.

Hello,Now that you have posted a log here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic406615.html you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a MRT Team member, nor should you ask for help elsewhere. Please do not bump your topic. RELEVANCY SCORE 49.6

Hello all.

I'm just about at the end of my tether here! Just bought a new PC which I built myself.

I was running Windows 2000 on it until my copy of XP arrived today. Of course I was very exited as this is meant to be the best!

I installed XP by completely formatting the HD so it would be a nice fresh installation.

Now, the installation goes fine, no problems there at all. But, the CD drive will not work properly after installation of XP. The drive appears in My Computer, and when you insert a CD, the label appears correctly, but the icon (if applicable) just shows as the default icon (Not the icon for a CD ROM drive, but the same icon you see if a file type isn't registered).

Even the XP CD itself doesn't work! If you open the icon to display the contents, the CD spins up in the drive, and after a minute or so, the contents is displayed. But you can't run any of the exe's and access to the drive is VERY slow (about 60 secs or so to do anything at all with it).

I can copy small files (e.g. the couple of HTML files in the root of the CD) to the HD. But any bigger files I get an error saying "Cannot copy <filename>: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error".

If I boot into Safe Mode, the CD drive works fine, all files can be accessed, copied or executed.

So, just to recap finally - the CD drive worked fine in Windows 2000 and also in my old machine which was running ME. It installs XP perfectly but won&#... Read more

I posted this a couple of days ago and have since been schooled on how to post something on here. Here's a revised post:

I rarely turn my PC off. Usually it just goes to my screensaver and from there I turn the monitor off. Over the past couple of weeks I've noticed that every 15 minutes or so I get a noise over the speakers that sounds like they've been plugged into the back of the PC, or more precisely, like the power has been turned on to them. Then I hear the noise like when something is plugged into a USB port. It plays the one that sounds like something has been plugged in, then unplugged, then plugged in again. The best I can describe it is the "bong-bong" noise. I'm beginning to think someone is using my PC somehow because I've got a lot of addresses in the address bar in Mozilla that I'm positive I've never been to before. I dont see the same thing when I look in the address bar for IE. Here are the requested logs:

I installed a USB 2.0 PCI card today (and also I took out my PCI card that had the phone jack for a dial up modem, that I of course never use anymore. could this be a problem?) Then my pc started acting weird- it seems to be slower when I'm going from program to program, and doing other basic operations on the computer. The biggest thing I've noticed is that when I'm playing an audio CD, it skips like crazy. I tried both CD drives, also tried a different CD. Still does the same thing. and yes, of course I've restarted too.

doesn't make any sense to have all these weird issues when I just install a new PCI card, but this stuff only starting happening right after I installed the card.

any help, anyone? thanks in advance.

A:PC acting strange with new USB device

Back track-
Un-install PCI card/drivers and remove the card. Re-start the computer and see what happens. Very well could be a compatibility issue with the card.

I can be surfing the net with no problems, then all of a sudden new browser windows will open - on their own, not just 1 or 2 but upwards of 50, one after another after another - all white with nothing in them. As fast as I try to close them others keep opening. The version of I.E that I'm using is - 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519

Hello, i'm back with another problem.

my new monitors ViewSonic VA912 and Digimate L1916 are getting quite strange. especially the Viewsonic one. when itry to use them together(NVIDIA 7300GT agp) i use DVI for my digimate and D-sub for the viewsonic one. the digimate works good, all the times and when both monitors are plugged, but the problem:

when i press ON button to power Comp, my digimate works, viewsonic dosen't. when the windows loading screen starts, my viewsonic appears to work. when the windows loading ends, its getting off again and beeping all the time! while the digimate is working properly. so what's the deal?

P.S. the first time i plugged both the viewsonic worked very good, but when the screen saver came, i couldn't take it on again(it stucked on the screen saver) while the digimate works just fine. the digimate is set to monitor 1 and viewsonic set to 2.

Thanks for help!

Hello,

I have a windows xp sp2 home edition, on a gateway pentium d 2.8ghz, 1gb ram, 200gb hd harddrive, the problem is, when starting the computer, it hangs on the welcome screen, doesnt go anywhere, when i reboot, it stays black withe the mouse cursor, then when i go to safe mode everything works fine, i am on safe mode right now, ran antivirus, spyware, adaware and shows up clean, i deleted some programs just for the heck of it, cleared out all the startup programs, nothing, i look up the event viewer under applications and i get this: source: msiinstaller, event id 1015, failed to connect to server. error: 0x8007043ac, i look under system and shows: source: dcom, event id: 10005, dcom got error: failed this service cannot be started in safe mode:, which is fine then, but then it shows another error message:

source: service control manager event id: 7026
the following boot-start or system-start drivers failed to load: afd, cmdguard, cmdhlp, fips, inelppm, ipsec, kmxagent, kmxstart, mrxsmb, netbios, netbt, rasacd, rdbss, tcpip

i looked online on that and no help, just other suggestions which i have tried but no luck such as scanning the hardware, seems fine, ram and hdd, please help, i am trying to do a repair on the windows and see if that help and try and make a new profile and see if that works, maybe the profile might be corrupted i dont know, but any suggestions are welcomed.

Hey guys.
First of all, sorry if this is not the right place to post this, I wasn't sure.

So as the title would suggest, my PC is acting strange lately. I'll try to tell you everything, but if there is stuff you need to know, tell me. So lets go.
My PC is an MSI GT70 running Windows 8.1 atm.

I recently got some annoying malware (I guess?), which would give me a lot of popups and adds on every site I'd visit. This happened right after I ran a Avast start-up virus scan, which I found pretty weird tbh... Anyways, thats been solved by now, I thought I'd just add any piece of information.

I've had some serious FPS issues for a while now, and I don't know what makes that happen. I've been playing League of Legends for years, without having FPS issues, but it started happening kind of out of the blue. I also bought Rise of the Tomb Raider, which my PC should run (And does), but that also has some stupid FPS which makes it annoying to play.

The PC won't shut down without using the power button. It works from time to time, but usually not. I click turn off, but nothings happening. If I click "rest" (I guess thats the english term) it will go to rest, but I can't turn it on again afterwards without completely shutting it down (Again, with the power button), which makes it useless, right.

It won't turn on. As in it won't log into my account once I've turned on, it will just say "welcome" and load forever. So I have to restart a few times just to log in... Read more

First of all I'd like to say with great certainty that this is not an issue of a dirty mouse. I don't clean it regularly or thoroughly enough for this on and off issue.

It has been happening longer than I installed the media converter that had the relevant whatever virus. I have yet to find any way it could otherwise be linked to a virus so I'm ruling that out as well.

I'd blame the connector if it had any way of loosening exactly when these issues occur.

I'd also like to say that while likely coincidental the issue first occurred while playing team fortress 2. Supposedly when you uninstall Left 4 Dead by the same company, Valve it uninstalls some fonts as well, so I would not rule it out.

Now to describe the issue: Sometimes the mouse will randomly point all over the place. I haven't had that issue recently however.

More often is that the mouse will stop responding at all. Sometimes this is only for a minute or so, or other times I am forced to reboot my computer which seems to temporarily fix it.

A:Mouse acting strange every now and then.

Have you tried another mouse?

I have used Gibson Research's DNSBench program to measure the performance of DNS resolvers for may years. When I activate it, it takes about 20 seconds for it to find all the DNS servers that my system can connect to, after which I run the benchmark test to find out which are the fastest. The list of servers is typically about 55 after removing "dead" and "redirecting" servers. Today I ran it on my Ethernet-cable-connected desktop, and it came up with only 16 servers after removing a HUGE number of servers that it reported "dead". That has NEVER happened. I went to my laptop, which connects wirelessly, and it does NOT show the huge number of dead servers. Neither does my wife's (really old) Compaq XP laptop.

I have rebooted the Comcast Gateway modem/router and changed the port the Ethernet cable was plugged into. I have rebooted my desktop. I checked to make sure the desktop firewall allows measurement of DNS resolvers. Nothing changed this strange occurrance.

Despite this, I have no problem connecting to the Internet.

Anyone have an answer for why DNSBench is finding so many resolvers that will not respond/are labeled as "dead"?

The Comcast ISP went out leaving us with no internet and phone we had cable though, but when it came back on my acer pc had internet no problem, but my boyfriend's hp computer would only get about a 1/4 of the speed which is 1,296,334,756 bytes, then i restarted his pc and disabled the network connection, and re enabled it, it would only pull the same amount of internet, i even went to command prompt and renewed and flushed dns, usually that works but it did not help, now the hp is showing full internet bytes but i can only get on facebook sometimes and nothing else, i've tried using IE and Firefox. I even tried resetting the modem box, still same thing... please help because when I'm clueless, I'm clueless and i normally don't get clueless about a computer ...
