Failed install windows7 home to windows7 enterprise

Q: Failed install windows7 home to windows7 enterprise

I have an HP Compaq dx2000mt desktop that has windows7 32bit enterprise installed on it. I tried to install windows7 home 32bit to replace the enterprise OS. As I was installing it stated the old OS would be marked, XXX.old and it went forward, then came to a point where there were booting errors. and it stopped installing. Now I am left with a half install, and a full OS the boot section now in its own drive named disk 0 system reserved.
I partioned the C drive and allocated 20gb and tried to install there. I received the same errors seems that my boot.ini is stuck in the system reserved and I cant figure out how to incorporate disk 0 over to disk C, so that my boot is in the same disk drive.
I have really messed this one up. I have installed an operating system before and never had so much trouble.
Any advice would be helpful.
And please if you have an answer, something for me to do, it needs to be A.B.C.'d out step by step as Im not an expert. But I guess I already proved that...
Thank you in advance.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu

The Hard disk has no data, and i don't have a CD-Rom, have made my USB bootable manually using DISKPART (this method of installation has worked for me before)

I have a InsydeH2O Setup Utility
Inside the BIOS the options available to me are:-

->Power-On Password <clear>

->Primary Hard Disk Self Test
->Memory Test

**System Configuration**

As i am installing a fresh copy of windows 7 , but it is taking a long time to boot. After selecting the drive for OS than the it moving very very slow in installation & expanding the file . Why this problem, is this problem the laptop are with OS

A:Unable to install Windows7 Home Basic 64-bit

You didn't say why you were installing a fresh copy, but if it because Windows has slowed down to a crawl on your PC, that's a strong indication of drive hardware failure -- and if that is the case, installing a fresh copy is not going to help at all.

While dual booting, I often check my email while in Windows 7 and have noted the inappropriately designed interface.
It is a nightmare trying to access the email because the whole interface is out of wack.
For this reason, I am interested in finding a replacement. I.e., would it be compatible with Vista Live Mail, and hopefully replacing this whacky program.

Therefore, I am seeking feedback about how to go about doing this, and is hoping that someone out there can shed some light as to the feasibility of doing this successfully.
If you can share any input, please let me know.
Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.

I use WLM on Windows 7 and I like it. It is similiar to windows mail.

It comes as part of the windows essentials package, but you can pick and choose any component of the package. I chose just Windows Live Mail
All that you have to do is go to this web site and download.

My new computer arrived today with Windows7 64 installed. (happydance)
My old computer has Windows7 32 installed.

Before I start attacking both computers, thought I better ask beforehand or the b/f will 'kill' me

Can I remove the hard drive from the old computer, install it as a 2nd drive in the new computer and be able to access all the data (documents, photos, messages saved in outlook and my favourites etc) on it from the new Windows7 64bit primary drive?

(I wasn't sure which sub-forum to ask this question in, hope in here is OK.)

A:Windows7 64 reading windows7 32 drive?

Hi Jaibird,

A hard disk is not 32-bit or 64-bit and does not depend upon the installed OS.

Yes, in some parts and no in others.
You can access files/folders from the partition Hard Disk (Documents, Photos, Favourites).. But you cannot get the messages saved in outlook.

Be advised that the (Documents, Photos, Favourites) will NOT merge into your current Windows 7 64-Bit.

A:Instaling Windows7 failed during installation.

Hello kiddy,

Might I ask what you did with your old Windows 7 installation?

Also, was there a reason you needed to flash the BIOS? You might consider uplugging the computer, holding down the power button for 10 secs, and pulling out the BIOS battery (google can show you how) to completely reset it, and then try installing again after you put it all back. Only change the AHCI mode in the BIOS (if you want that feature), nothing more, at least for now.

You might also try redownloading (from another computer, perhaps) the installer from microsoft, maybe the one you have now somehow didn't download right?

Are you positive your hardware is able to run Windows 7 (I know, you had it installed before), smoothly? Also, is it all in working order? You might consider removing non-essential devices such as excessory cards and HDDs during installation.

I have problems with updating the BIOS of my Tecra R10J. The current version is 1.4, and I want to update it to 3.0, so i have downloaded from Toshiba web site the correct file named "P006Cv300.exe" released from 11/04/2009. This is a BIOS update ONLINE into a real session of Windows 7. Simply, right click the compress exe, click run as admin and that's all but ......... for me it said :
*"[Error] The starting of service was aborted. User does not have administrator privileges"*

see below :

I've tried it with :
- closed AV, Firewall, etc ...
- disable UAC
- Run as administrator
- Tried with an another admin account
- Safe mode (bios update does not support safe mode)
- direct local administrator session

No change. Still the message "User does not have administrator privileges".
Need help please, found nothing on Google (similar Bios problem but not solved !!!!!)

Thank you

I'm planning ahead so I'll be ready to set up my home network as soon as I get my new desktop. Currently I have a pc with xp and I have a linksys router with a modem Verizon set me. Everything works for the pc and laptop in the home. I had a friend set all of this network stuff a couple years ago and want to try it myself when I get the new pc.

So, my first question is this: Does WIndows7 have an automatic network setup that will take place when I boot up the new pc the first time? Second question: I've heard the Cisco Valet router does everything automatically to setup the network.
Lots of other questions, but I"ll start with these two. thanks for any advice that you can give me

Hi all,

Hoping I can find a solution to my problem here as I have been googling with no luck. I am currently using an Acer Aspire 5733.
It came with 4GB of RAM already installed (One 4GB DDR3) and had a slot to upgrade. I have put in another 4GB stick, but in my System specs, it is still only showing as 4GB (see attached screen). Just wondering, should it work straight away, or is there a setting I need to change at all?

Many Thanks in advance for any help

A:RAM issue on Windows7 Home Premium

It should be recognized right away. The first thing is the ram sticks. While it can be done, you'll have less potential for problems if both sticks are bought as a package or at least the same make and model number. But, that does not seem to be the problem. I would go back and re-seat both sticks of ram to make sure they are properly installed. Then go into bios and see how much ram it sees.

I reinstalled windows back in 2014 because something wasn't right. I don't know if anything was wrong but it was behaving oddly so I decided to reinstall from the hidden partition. As
soon as it was complete I made 5 recovery disks. Three weeks or so ago I noticed my cooling fan spike in revolutions, very fast. I immediately switched to Task Mgr. to find explorer.exe at 3,605,343K(Process tab,
memory private working set) it usually runs at a max of 22,000K. Because I am not able to let things go, I did some exploring of my own. In event viewer I had 238 warning events where processes had leaked registry handles from user S-1-5-21. FBAgent.exe was
involved in 229 of them along with winlogon.exe, and a couple of others I can't find the names to right now. They were then accessing things like root certificates, my certificates, passwords, verifications, etc. I try to go to microsoft.com at my browser
says my AV won't let me do so because it isn't a secure site. The certificates don't match. That happened at almost every site I visited. After that happened, a day or two later, the fan speed kicked up again and this time it was Host process for windows services(netsvcs)
and it is at 5,000,000K. I look to the services tab in TaskMgr and there are 17 services using that one host. Also, all the .dll in the computer are opened and being accessed by something. Haven't figured out what just yet. In resource monitor my HD is at
100-105% and it is host process(netsvcs) either r... Read more

Welcome Fastdrive to the windows 7 forums.

It would help to know what kind of laptop you have. You evidently have an oem version of windows 7. Most laptop vendors will send you a set of re-install disks for a small fee. Other people's windows 7 disks most likely will not allow you to install using your laptops product key.

I recently installed Ubuntu 9 onto a USB HDD and I took out my Windows HDD and put in my old backup HDD and did the install that way now I can either have the linux HDD either plugged into the USB or inside the laptop itself.

I tried to put my Windows HDD into the USB caddy and boot from there and it did not work it got to the splash screen where the four parts of the window comes together then a blue screen of death flashes for a fraction of a second then it restarts the system and it never gets past that point. Is there a way I can get it to work via the USB route? It has nothing to do with the hardware compatibility of USB caddy because my Windows HDD is the original HDD that came with the caddy. I swapped my original drive with that one because it was larger. So is there anyway I can accomplish this without having to reinstall Win7 onto the drive as reinstalling all my software too is a pain in the behind so if that can be avoided then that is what I would like to do.

A:How can I install windows7 onto a USB HDD?

You can't install Win7 on an external USB device. What blocks it is the USB controller. The same external or flash drive would work if it is plugged via IDE/SATA cable.

MS tries hard to keep this from being possible as otherwise you could carry WIn7 around in your pocket to any machine.

A few claim they have done it but admit it runs horribly slow.

I have this weird problem. I have until now installed a countless number of windows on any given computer but this is the first time I stumble upon this kind of problem. This is an HP laptop infected with a lot of viruses and i can barely turn windows on. That's why I decided I do a format and clean install, but every time I try to boot it from cd it gives me the white blinking line and after a few seconds it continues loading the old version of windows(it's like its not even reading the disc even though I can hear the disc spining) and when i try to boot it from the usb it just keeps displaying the white blinking line. I should mention that I tried both the usb and cd on another computer and they work fine. Thank you

A:Can't install windows7

Is the computer set to boot from the disk first in the bios? I am sure that even if you reinstall Win 7 the first copy of Windows will be put into a folder called Windows.old which will mean the viruses will still be there. I would wipe the disk clean before installing Windows again.

I am having problems at start up and with updating windows on my computer

I am running Windows7 Home Premium 64 bit on a Compaq presario CQ61 Notebook

On start up i get a message saying that these 3 programs

cant start because iertutil.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem

I have tried looking for this program but have had no luck in finding it

Also when trying to perform any windows updates, it tries to update, but i always get code error - 8007371c
I have looked through the update history and the problem started about 2 weeks ago. i have tried to do a system restore but for some reason it is only showing restore points for the last 24 hours

I have not come across any other problems such as connecting to the internet or accessing any files or documents.

Are these problems connected ?

I would be more than grateful for any help in sorting these problems

Am wanting to do fresh install of W7. After placing DVD disc into DVD player and then restarting and pressing Delete key to enter BIOS I get two different choices to boot from DVD. One says DVD and the other says DVD UEFI.

Which one do I pick?
Would both choices ensure I have a bootable OS?
If I install using DVD UEFI choice will that install allow me to clone my OS which I would do with Acronis True Image 2014?
Does my current installation have some way of knowing how my current OS install was done..either DVD or DVD UEFI

My motherboard is an Asus Z87C and the BIOS screen has the words Asus UEFI in top left corner.

I have never done an install of OS so please help as I do not want to do the wrong type of install. Thanks Gary

A:Install Windows7 from DVD or DVD UEFI?

Neither method would be considered wrong. Just choose boot from DVD, let us know what heppens.

Could you please post a shot of Disk Managenent now, before you start.

Disk Management - Post a Screen Capture Image

You do not have to go into the bios to make a choice, just use the 1 time Boot Menu key, ususally F8 then choose boot from dvd drive.

You should really research the subject before even attempting this.

I am trying to do a clean install Windows7 in place of an existing XP Pro operating system. I have followed Windows Easy - Transfer to & from Computers procedure. All backed up to external drive K - I have tried this once but for some reason instead of installing on the C drive it went to another drive D. I did not see during the installation and options saying the drive to install to. I expect I will need to format D to get rid of it. Having done that is it best to disconnect D so this does not happen again? Should I also switch off the external drive K till the installation is complete?

Help will be greatly appreciated.

So I tried to upgrade from 7201 to 7229 and I got a black and then went to grey screen, so I had to rollback to 7201, upgrade was a nogo for me, so then this morning I did a fresh install of 7229 and to my surprise it installed in less then 22 minutes. So if the RTM will install in less them 30 minutes I am going to get it as soon as it is out. the install time gets better with every new release.

A:Windows7 RC 7229 install

It is very fast installation. Even from a DVD-R.
