ThinkCenter M83 (10BE0003GE) can’t update the BIOS with latest BIOS-Updates provided by Lenovo)

Q: ThinkCenter M83 (10BE0003GE) can’t update the BIOS with latest BIOS-Updates provided by Lenovo)

I?m currently updating the BIOS of some Lenovo ThinkCentre M83 PCs and I came across a problem. The Flash UEFI BIOS update (provide by Lenovo) worked almost perfectly on the first PCs, despite it didn?t automatically open the console and started the flashing process.Anyways I did go on with my work. Almost all other PCs had the problem that when the second phase (yellow font)/ afudos.exe imagefb.rom /defans /capsule /b /n /r /sp started the afuwin.exe stopped working (it crashed). It seemed like the Update wouldn?t get done this way so I decided to try it with the USB Flash method, also provided by Lenovo, but it also didn?t work. It says in the second phase ?15 - Error: Secure Flash function is not supported on this platform? Last but not least I tried to update the BIOS with the CD-ISO but when updating with this method it says that the BIOS-Version is too old. Some information about the system: ThinkCenter M83Type: 10BE0003GEOS: Windows 7 SP1 64bitBIOS-Revision: FBKT73AUSBIOS last Updated: 01.April.2014 Furthermore Information what I found out:BIOS-Revision seems to not matter (same version but some worked some not)Doesn?t matter if BIOS is set to UEFI only or Legacy onlySecure Boot also seems like it doesn?t matter if its on or notWhen the afuwin.exe crashes it only writes a return codeI use the update provided by this Page from Lenovo (Update: fbjycpusa)https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/de/de/downloads/ds035753 Thanks in advance

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Greetings!

I have Acer Aspire 5750G. My current BIOS version is 1.07. The latest version is 1.12.

There are a few versions in between. Should I do incremental updates and reach 1.12 or should I just go direct to 1.12?

Many Thanks!

A:BIOS - Incremental updates to latest vrsn or direct update to latest?

Bios updates are cumulative, so you only need the latest.

You also don't need to update the bios unless there is a fix in it/them that fixes an issue you may be having. For the most part updating the bios is as easy as updating a driver, only if a bios update goes wrong you can't roll back to the old and you basically end up with a nice paperweight.

I updated the BIOS yesterday and after using it today, i realised that the laptop was heating up, even though i wasn't playing any games. Just watching some videos on youtube using Microsoft Edge. The bottom side of the laptop, the one below the keyboard, felt hotter than usual. Same for the part right above the fan, one where the power button is. Never had an issue before the update as it never used to get hot enough for me to feel it unless I was playing a heavy game. It only gets better if I use the extreme cooling feature, but that shouldn't be the case for regular browsing. Could this BIOS update be the reason for my laptop heating up? Please help.

A:ThinkCenter M920q & x Tiny: damaged BIOS, how to initiate BIOS recovery (move CMOS jumper, ISO)

No, removing the coin battery won't force a BIOS update via a USB drive or USB CD drive, which is what needs to happen (initiated by moving the jumper.)  While the process is similar, your motherboard is probably different to a M900.

I can't tell, since the top photo is too tight in, but is the location of JCMOS1 in location # 1 of the following diagram?  If not, can you post photos of that area.  Thx.

Hi! Have got around 200 M73 Tiny nettops running by production users.Currently installed BIOS versions are 58 and 61.We need to update all of them to latest BIOS version 76 due to fixing recent Spectre vulnerability. We need to do this via SCCM.Tested this simple script: SPIW032 FHCT36A.bin wflash2.exe imagefh.rom /bb /rsmb /quiet %1 It works, flashes BIOS and reboot machine, however, after the process finishes succesfully, at BIOS loading phase it displays error "0162: Setup data integrity check  failure" It can be manually fixed by pressing F1 to enter Setup and then pressing F10 to save and exit. But for SCCM deployment on 200 machines it is not possible. We can not walk around every machine. And it is not comfortable (e.g. acceptable) if we try to tell our users that next morning they need to press F1 and the F10 to bring their PC back to life. Is there a way to workaround this annoying error?

Hello everyone! I ama new user and i am coming up with this post as I couldn`t find any kind of solution for my problem.Recently I decided to do a reinstallation of my operating system, which also previously was Windows 7 Ultimate (x64). The installation went as usual, and after finishing it I went on to install all the latest drivers from the Lenovo site, for my product. When getting close to installing almost all the drivers i`ve needed, i stumbled upon a new version of the BIOS amnd the drivers and sfotware recommended for my laptop, by the producer. So i proceeded to install the upgrade, restarted the computer when it prompted me to do so, but after the so-called restart the laptop did not boot up as usual. At first it was telling me to not do anything as the BIOS is being flashed and then it was telling me something about some sort of image processing, things that i did not understand at the time (i have never encountered anything like that). After that my screen turned black. I have not done anything for a few couple of minutes as i thought it was supposed to be like that, but then i just force shut it down and unplugged the AC adapter. When trying to boot it all up again, the only thing i got was a black screen and nothing else. After doing a little bit of research it appears that, somehowm i`ve managed to corrupt the bios on my laptop or something, and nothing else would work at this point. I tried to remove the BIOS battery and the ram and then put them all back, trye... Read more

Hi. I have a Lenovo B50-30 mode 80ES. It was set to require a password on startup starting with a capital "A". While experiencing charging problems, amongst other things, I updated the BIOS to 9CCN35WW, downloaded from the Lenovo support site. Since updating, the laptop no longer asks for a password on startup (No big deal, I applied a windows password), however, when pressing F2 to access the BIOS (which I need to do, the F keys are the wrong way round), it asks for a password, When pressing to strike a capital A, the laptop beeps and doesnt enter it. It wont accept capital letters anymore, therefore it wont accept the pre BIOS update password. I have referred the laptop to Lenovo service, including returning the laptop, and they have been nothing short of useless. They said they couldnt repair it under warranty because of "Marks, cracks, inappropriate treatment" and it would cost 255 for a replacement system board. I really couldnt see why I should pay for an issue created by their support system, so I asked them to return it unrepaired. Upon arrival, the laptop was immaculate, so I dont know what damage they were referring to. Is it possible to downgrade the BIOS to a pre update revision, to change the password and then reset it to one the new BIOS approves of? Thankyou in advance.

My rule of thumb with BIOS updates is "if it is not broke, do not try to fix it" because there is always an inherent risk that a BIOS update can fail, and if so, leave  the system bricked (dead) requirnig a new motherboard, and there does not appear to be anything in the latest updates readme.txt other than specific fixes for Windows 8.1... I cannot access the BIOS on my Lenovo G50-30 (small white dash in the upper left corner), that's why I want to flash it to the latest BIOS-version (I think it's A7CN48WW) via shell.I'm currently on A7CN40WW. "Normal" booting from HDD fails with message "BOOTMGR is missing".Booting from a bootable USB-drive (Windows 10 installation created with the Microsoft Media Creation Tool) works, but at the first screen of the installation process (choose language,...) the keyboard, touchpad and mouse are not working. Therefore I'm not able to update the BIOS in Windows. The official Lenovo-Support-Page doesn't provide the BIOS in binary format. Hope, someone can help and provide me with the A7CN48WW-BIOS in binary format for manually flashing the BIOS. Any help is much appreciated!

After taking the latest recommended updates (why do I do it?) external mouse and keyboard now have problems. The keyboard is especially annoying and it inserts multiple key-repeats. It's infrequent but enough to really annoy. Please fix ASAP.

Hello, I have recently upgraded my OS to Windows 7 on my Pavillion Notebook, which is a dv6700, with product number KW097EA#UUW, and with an AMD processor. Its bios version is F.34, and I would like to know if it's the latest bios. Unfortunately I cannot find my computer model on the website, so I'm needing your help. Also, will the latest bios allow me to install more ram? I currently have 2GB.

Hi: Yes, F.34 is the latest BIOS version and if you have that installed, good. I am going to save you from having to strip your notebook for parts and tossing it in the trash if you try to flash the BIOS after you installed Windows 7. DON'T FLASH THE BIOS IF YOU HAVE INSTALLED WINDOWS 7. There will be a 100% chance of totally bricking your notebook if you do. Below is the link to the support and driver page for your specific notebook model. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=3717145&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=228&query=KW097EA&sw_lang=&tool= As long as the BIOS in your PC is at F.27 or newer, there is no reason that you can't install 4 GB of memory in your notebook right now. I have a dv6810us with the same hardware as yours and I am running W7 64 bit with 4 GB of memory (2 x 2GB of PC2-6400), and it works just fine. If you ever need to flash the BIOS (which you shouldn't ever need to), you will need to reinstall Vista, flash it, and reinstall W7.

Hello I would like to ask:I updated my BIOS last night to the latest version. I am on Windows 10, HP Envy x360. I updated it sucessfully and I am not facing any issues as of now. I wasn't facing one before I updated. Everything was going smoothly but I saw in the HP Support Assistant that I have numerous things to update so I clicked it all & updated. When the BIOS finished installing the computer restarted and I continued updating the others (which included the BIOS internal) but in the middle of the update, I stopped it. And it said it's not applicable anymore. I clicked to update again & the other 3 (there was 4 of them including the BIOS internal) updated succesfully. I even contacted support at that same night to let them do the manual update to give me a peace of mind. The technician said I updated it correctly. But what I read on everyp site on the internet that not to update the BIOS. So I am worrying & scared right now because my laptop might encounter problems that weren't there before the update. I am regretting my decision, I am not a techy person and I don't understand the computer world very well yet I decided to update without knowing first what it was. I am very scared of what might happen because of my carelessness. My questions are:1. Will updating the latest version of the BIOS without any problems in the hardware or anything (it was running smoothly, I just recently purchased it) harm the laptop or give problems to the laptop?2. What can I do to... Read more

Right... So here I am trying to perform miracles with a XFX/NVidia board again. I'm running out of hair to pull out, but I can't afford to get another one right now.

I'm sure the whole world knows that XFX and NVidia aren't buddies anymore, and I know that XFX skimped on the processor TDP ratings to 'save money', but I'm not sure if this problem is a faulty BIOS from XFX or if my chip is failing.. Anybody else still running this board? Perhaps someone can give a second opinion here...

Currently I'm running the v1.6 BIOS, the latest is v1.7. My PC doesn't have any problems with 1.6, I was just trying to see if I could get a Phenom II 740 BE to work on this board. The BIOS flashes without any problems, no errors or warnings or suspicious beeps.. But then the two-digit diagnostic LED on the board goes haywire with 1.7, with 1.6 it shows normal alpha-numeric codes, but on 1.7 the lines are completely mixed up and don't make any legible numbers or letters.

I must admit, other than that, I haven't found any problems.. My 740 BE still didn't work, but I'm not sure if that was also because of the BIOS or not. Has anybody else perhaps tried this BIOS yet...? If not, and you're comfortable with it, could you try it and see? I had no issues flashing back to 1.6 after trying 1.7, so you don't have to worry about being stuck on it if you don't like it...

A:XFX 750a SLI - Latest BIOS Update

I just flashed my motherboard (xfx 750a sli) to latest version 1.7 and I am having the same problems with the LED. I also think that my SATA devices have been disabled. Only my IDE drives are recognized. I created a support ticket on MOBO site but no response yet. I was wondering if you could send me the 1.6 ISO so I can reflash my system. Thanks.

Hi, @Reddwarf4ever : Yes, I would imagine if the BIOS update bricks the notebook on W7, the same would apply to W10 as well. You already have the latest BIOS installed which is F.34, so you don't have to be concerned. http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-dv6800-Entertainment-Notebook-PC-series/...

This might seem bizarre, but the Lenovo EOL portal does not seem to contain any drivers and the BIOS update for this specific ThinkPad. Only the G40 and the G41 were listed in the EOL portal, which seems a little odd to me. I noticed that Lenovo has removed their support page for this ThinkPad (http://support.lenovo.com/ja_JP/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?LegacyDocID=SYJ0-006F21E), so it is not there. Looking a little more, I managed to find the old URL for the BIOS' download link - which was (http://download.boulder.ibm.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/jp/mobiles/7huj05/7huj05jp.iso, or alternatively in FTP form, ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/jp/mobiles/7huj05/7huj05jp.iso). All of these links are dead and I suspect IBM must have transferred the downloads over to Lenovo's servers, but I still can not find the BIOS anywhere in plain sight. The release date and the naming scheme of the last BIOS update was 17th of April 2008, version 1.04 (7HET17WW, 7HHT13WW) respectively. Has anyone got a clue on where is the working download link at? It would help me a lot for the search, thanks.

Hi I was just checking for the latest bios version for the G5oo. My current version is showing 78CN25WW (V2.03) I tried to check on the lenovo website but as it is rubbish,i made no progress. When i navigate through to support section it just returns a server error. Presumably lenovo are too busy promoting their new lines rather than looking after exisiting customers who are struggling to keep their past naff products running
