ThinkCenter M83 (10BE0003GE) can’t update the BIOS with latest BIOS-Updates provided by Lenovo)

Q: ThinkCenter M83 (10BE0003GE) can’t update the BIOS with latest BIOS-Updates provided by Lenovo)

I?m currently updating the BIOS of some Lenovo ThinkCentre M83 PCs and I came across a problem. The Flash UEFI BIOS update (provide by Lenovo) worked almost perfectly on the first PCs, despite it didn?t automatically open the console and started the flashing process.Anyways I did go on with my work. Almost all other PCs had the problem that when the second phase (yellow font)/ afudos.exe imagefb.rom /defans /capsule /b /n /r /sp started the afuwin.exe stopped working (it crashed). It seemed like the Update wouldn?t get done this way so I decided to try it with the USB Flash method, also provided by Lenovo, but it also didn?t work. It says in the second phase ?15 - Error: Secure Flash function is not supported on this platform? Last but not least I tried to update the BIOS with the CD-ISO but when updating with this method it says that the BIOS-Version is too old. Some information about the system: ThinkCenter M83Type: 10BE0003GEOS: Windows 7 SP1 64bitBIOS-Revision: FBKT73AUSBIOS last Updated: 01.April.2014 Furthermore Information what I found out:BIOS-Revision seems to not matter (same version but some worked some not)Doesn?t matter if BIOS is set to UEFI only or Legacy onlySecure Boot also seems like it doesn?t matter if its on or notWhen the afuwin.exe crashes it only writes a return codeI use the update provided by this Page from Lenovo (Update: fbjycpusa)https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/de/de/downloads/ds035753 Thanks in advance

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Greetings!

I have Acer Aspire 5750G. My current BIOS version is 1.07. The latest version is 1.12.

There are a few versions in between. Should I do incremental updates and reach 1.12 or should I just go direct to 1.12?

Many Thanks!

A:BIOS - Incremental updates to latest vrsn or direct update to latest?

Bios updates are cumulative, so you only need the latest.

You also don't need to update the bios unless there is a fix in it/them that fixes an issue you may be having. For the most part updating the bios is as easy as updating a driver, only if a bios update goes wrong you can't roll back to the old and you basically end up with a nice paperweight.

hi, i have a lenovo b590 laptop (20208 type) with i3 3110m and nvidia gt720m and whenever i try to update the BIOS using the latest BIOS version available on the lenovo drivers download page , i get the following error: https://i.imgur.com/lKMLQV9.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/OkY9aQy.png this is the actual BIOS version on the laptop: https://i.imgur.com/1Tvib3d.jpg  how can i update the BIOS on it? i guess the problem is that the allready running BIOS is H1ETXXXX version and on the lenovo drivers download page is only the H9ETXXXX version which i guess isn't compatible with the 20208 version of the laptop and shows the "machine does not match with this bios" error. forgot to mention that my OS is windows 7 x64 on which i tried to run the bios update.  also will this laptop model gonna receive any new bios updates especially regarding the newly discovered intel security flaws or it's completely abandoned allready in terms of support?

Here is a video of it: https://i.imgur.com/FSR05gs.mp4 Futhermore, after installing the latest BIOS update (4VCN41WW), the laptop has started to freeze for a couple of seconds on me every once in a while.  Are these, things that can be fixed by myself? Or should i talk to the store where i bought it about sending it to repair? I live in Denmark, so I have 2 years warrenty.

I updated the BIOS yesterday and after using it today, i realised that the laptop was heating up, even though i wasn't playing any games. Just watching some videos on youtube using Microsoft Edge. The bottom side of the laptop, the one below the keyboard, felt hotter than usual. Same for the part right above the fan, one where the power button is. Never had an issue before the update as it never used to get hot enough for me to feel it unless I was playing a heavy game. It only gets better if I use the extreme cooling feature, but that shouldn't be the case for regular browsing. Could this BIOS update be the reason for my laptop heating up? Please help.

Hi! Have got around 200 M73 Tiny nettops running by production users.Currently installed BIOS versions are 58 and 61.We need to update all of them to latest BIOS version 76 due to fixing recent Spectre vulnerability. We need to do this via SCCM.Tested this simple script: SPIW032 FHCT36A.bin wflash2.exe imagefh.rom /bb /rsmb /quiet %1 It works, flashes BIOS and reboot machine, however, after the process finishes succesfully, at BIOS loading phase it displays error "0162: Setup data integrity check  failure" It can be manually fixed by pressing F1 to enter Setup and then pressing F10 to save and exit. But for SCCM deployment on 200 machines it is not possible. We can not walk around every machine. And it is not comfortable (e.g. acceptable) if we try to tell our users that next morning they need to press F1 and the F10 to bring their PC back to life. Is there a way to workaround this annoying error?

Hello everyone! I ama new user and i am coming up with this post as I couldn`t find any kind of solution for my problem.Recently I decided to do a reinstallation of my operating system, which also previously was Windows 7 Ultimate (x64). The installation went as usual, and after finishing it I went on to install all the latest drivers from the Lenovo site, for my product. When getting close to installing almost all the drivers i`ve needed, i stumbled upon a new version of the BIOS amnd the drivers and sfotware recommended for my laptop, by the producer. So i proceeded to install the upgrade, restarted the computer when it prompted me to do so, but after the so-called restart the laptop did not boot up as usual. At first it was telling me to not do anything as the BIOS is being flashed and then it was telling me something about some sort of image processing, things that i did not understand at the time (i have never encountered anything like that). After that my screen turned black. I have not done anything for a few couple of minutes as i thought it was supposed to be like that, but then i just force shut it down and unplugged the AC adapter. When trying to boot it all up again, the only thing i got was a black screen and nothing else. After doing a little bit of research it appears that, somehowm i`ve managed to corrupt the bios on my laptop or something, and nothing else would work at this point. I tried to remove the BIOS battery and the ram and then put them all back, trye... Read more

Hi. I have a Lenovo B50-30 mode 80ES. It was set to require a password on startup starting with a capital "A". While experiencing charging problems, amongst other things, I updated the BIOS to 9CCN35WW, downloaded from the Lenovo support site. Since updating, the laptop no longer asks for a password on startup (No big deal, I applied a windows password), however, when pressing F2 to access the BIOS (which I need to do, the F keys are the wrong way round), it asks for a password, When pressing to strike a capital A, the laptop beeps and doesnt enter it. It wont accept capital letters anymore, therefore it wont accept the pre BIOS update password. I have referred the laptop to Lenovo service, including returning the laptop, and they have been nothing short of useless. They said they couldnt repair it under warranty because of "Marks, cracks, inappropriate treatment" and it would cost 255 for a replacement system board. I really couldnt see why I should pay for an issue created by their support system, so I asked them to return it unrepaired. Upon arrival, the laptop was immaculate, so I dont know what damage they were referring to. Is it possible to downgrade the BIOS to a pre update revision, to change the password and then reset it to one the new BIOS approves of? Thankyou in advance.

My rule of thumb with BIOS updates is "if it is not broke, do not try to fix it" because there is always an inherent risk that a BIOS update can fail, and if so, leave  the system bricked (dead) requirnig a new motherboard, and there does not appear to be anything in the latest updates readme.txt other than specific fixes for Windows 8.1... So I would hold off. Summary of changes

Hi  For the Ideapad 520S I want to be able to boot from an USB SSD were I placed Windows 7 in order to store and handle older programs. (I have windows 10 installed on the Ideapad) The standard instructions say:(option 1 - go into the exit menu)Set OS optimized defaults as other OS. However, I don't have this option to change to another OS. It just says yes or no.  (Option 2 - go into the boot menu) Set the boot mode to Legacy suport - That does not work, the arrow scroll (select item) does not go up to Boot Menu so I cannot change from UEFI to Legacy support. If that would have worked otherwise, I could then have enabled USB boot. (Now the US Boot is anyway enabled, but it always boots in standard mode via internal SSD)- There is something in how the BIO is set up that I need to change regarding the order, so that I can change the boot mode from UEFI to Legacy support and then enable USB boot for real. (This is not covered in the standard instructions that can be applied to Ideapad 520S.  If somebody has a helping hand I would be very greatful.  Thanks a lot Best MarksKnight

After i upgraded to BIOS 2XCN30WW(V2.05) dated 2017/06/21 i started to experience lags and temporary freezes (for 20/30 seconds and it would recover) while using windows 10 creators edition. The lag/freeze can be described as a period of time every 10 minutes or so in which the computer stops responding to keyboard input and eventually to mouse movements, if you had a youtube video or audio playing in the background it starts coming out distorted, everything makes you think there is something hogging the CPU or RAM, it recovers itself after 20 or 30 seconds, sometimes less than that.I first blamed Slack Client but quickly found that it didn't have anything to do. It didn't seem related to load as the CPU/RAM usage in Task Manager remained low during these periods.I then blamed a recent Windows Update patch , which i rolled back prompty without noticing any changes. My last option and what ultimately resolved the issue is the rolling back the BIOS upgrade that i applied at about the same time of the windows patch.I enabled the Allow Back-Flash option in BIOS setup and rolled back to version 2XCN29WW, and the problem dissapeared for good, and just to confirm that the BIOS was to blame after a few days of happy computing i decided to give the new BIOS another try and TADAH! soon after the update the freeze/lags started again.I just wanted to share this with you guys in hopes that if you are having similar issues you can resolve them using this message. And since Lenovo doesn't seem... Right... So here I am trying to perform miracles with a XFX/NVidia board again. I'm running out of hair to pull out, but I can't afford to get another one right now.

I'm sure the whole world knows that XFX and NVidia aren't buddies anymore, and I know that XFX skimped on the processor TDP ratings to 'save money', but I'm not sure if this problem is a faulty BIOS from XFX or if my chip is failing.. Anybody else still running this board? Perhaps someone can give a second opinion here...

Currently I'm running the v1.6 BIOS, the latest is v1.7. My PC doesn't have any problems with 1.6, I was just trying to see if I could get a Phenom II 740 BE to work on this board. The BIOS flashes without any problems, no errors or warnings or suspicious beeps.. But then the two-digit diagnostic LED on the board goes haywire with 1.7, with 1.6 it shows normal alpha-numeric codes, but on 1.7 the lines are completely mixed up and don't make any legible numbers or letters.

I must admit, other than that, I haven't found any problems.. My 740 BE still didn't work, but I'm not sure if that was also because of the BIOS or not. Has anybody else perhaps tried this BIOS yet...? If not, and you're comfortable with it, could you try it and see? I had no issues flashing back to 1.6 after trying 1.7, so you don't have to worry about being stuck on it if you don't like it...

Hello I would like to ask:I updated my BIOS last night to the latest version. I am on Windows 10, HP Envy x360. I updated it sucessfully and I am not facing any issues as of now. I wasn't facing one before I updated. Everything was going smoothly but I saw in the HP Support Assistant that I have numerous things to update so I clicked it all & updated. When the BIOS finished installing the computer restarted and I continued updating the others (which included the BIOS internal) but in the middle of the update, I stopped it. And it said it's not applicable anymore. I clicked to update again & the other 3 (there was 4 of them including the BIOS internal) updated succesfully. I even contacted support at that same night to let them do the manual update to give me a peace of mind. The technician said I updated it correctly. But what I read on everyp site on the internet that not to update the BIOS. So I am worrying & scared right now because my laptop might encounter problems that weren't there before the update. I am regretting my decision, I am not a techy person and I don't understand the computer world very well yet I decided to update without knowing first what it was. I am very scared of what might happen because of my carelessness. My questions are:1. Will updating the latest version of the BIOS without any problems in the hardware or anything (it was running smoothly, I just recently purchased it) harm the laptop or give problems to the laptop?2. Hi, @Reddwarf4ever : Yes, I would imagine if the BIOS update bricks the notebook on W7, the same would apply to W10 as well. You already have the latest BIOS installed which is F.34, so you don't have to be concerned. http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-dv6800-Entertainment-Notebook-PC-series/...

This might seem bizarre, but the Lenovo EOL portal does not seem to contain any drivers and the BIOS update for this specific ThinkPad. Only the G40 and the G41 were listed in the EOL portal, which seems a little odd to me. I noticed that Lenovo has removed their support page for this ThinkPad (http://support.lenovo.com/ja_JP/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?LegacyDocID=SYJ0-006F21E), so it is not there. Looking a little more, I managed to find the old URL for the BIOS' download link - which was (http://download.boulder.ibm.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/jp/mobiles/7huj05/7huj05jp.iso, or alternatively in FTP form, ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/jp/mobiles/7huj05/7huj05jp.iso). All of these links are dead and I suspect IBM must have transferred the downloads over to Lenovo's servers, but I still can not find the BIOS anywhere in plain sight. The release date and the naming scheme of the last BIOS update was 17th of April 2008, version 1.04 (7HET17WW, 7HHT13WW) respectively. Has anyone got a clue on where is the working download link at? It would help me a lot for the search, thanks.

Hello, I have recently upgraded my OS to Windows 7 on my Pavillion Notebook, which is a dv6700, with product number KW097EA#UUW, and with an AMD processor. Its bios version is F.34, and I would like to know if it's the latest bios. Unfortunately I cannot find my computer model on the website, so I'm needing your help. Also, will the latest bios allow me to install more ram? I currently have 2GB.

Hi: Yes, F.34 is the latest BIOS version and if you have that installed, good. I am going to save you from having to strip your notebook for parts and tossing it in the trash if you try to flash the BIOS after you installed Windows 7. DON'T FLASH THE BIOS IF YOU HAVE INSTALLED WINDOWS 7. There will be a 100% chance of totally bricking your notebook if you do. Below is the link to the support and driver page for your specific notebook model. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=3717145&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=228&query=KW097EA&sw_lang=&tool= As long as the BIOS in your PC is at F.27 or newer, there is no reason that you can't install 4 GB of memory in your notebook right now. I have a dv6810us with the same hardware as yours and I am running W7 64 bit with 4 GB of memory (2 x 2GB of PC2-6400), and it works just fine. If you ever need to flash the BIOS (which you shouldn't ever need to), you will need to reinstall Vista, flash it, and reinstall W7.

Since installing the latest BIOS, the T430 no longer responds to any keys (F1, F12, esc) to get into the bios.  Where can I find previous BIOS images so I can roll this back to a version that allowed me to get in?

Talk about confusing. I looked at the latest BIOS update documentation and this is what it says:
 Title: Dell XPS 15 9550 1.2.15 A16 System BIOS
 Subtitle: XPS 15 9550 1.2.18 BIOS
 Version: 01.02.17, 01.02.17
 File Name: XPS_9550_1.2.18.exe
I assume everything should say 18?

After upgrading to the latest BIOS version FWKT86A provided here; https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/DS105487 I now recive the following error at every boot; (A7) Me FW Downgrade - Request MeSpiLock Failed  The boot process continues and Windows starts normally, but how do I fix this error message, I can not deploy this BIOS upgrade to all my systems with this error message present. Please provide me with a fix or an updated BIOS that fix this as we are rolling out updates to mitigate the "Spectre" and "Meltdown" issue. What I've tried so far;I've tried to downgrade to the previous BIOS version (FWKT7FA) that I was running before the upgrade, but the issue did not disapear.Upgraded to the latest version again, issue still there.Tried to re-apply latest Intel Management Engine Firmware (11.8.50.3425), issue still there.

Hi.My laptop is a Lenovo Flex 5 1570.Two hours ago I've received a notification of a new firmware version. I downloaded it, installed it and after that, Windows is unable to start and crashed with a blue screen.I've tried all recover and repair options, Safe Mode boot, and nothing sems to work. The only option left is to reinstall Windows, but I thing that it won't work, as the problem seems to be with the firmware update.Reinstalling Windows is a valid option? Is there a way to go back to the BIOS's previous version? What about the OKR option? Is there an OKR procedure for this machine?Regards, Gustavo
