I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I recently bought this new laptop and it has two USB's on the right and one on the left. The one on the left doesn't seem to work. In device manager I see: Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.0 (Microsoft)USB Composite DeviceUSB Composite DeviceUSB Root Hub (xHCI) When I click show hidden devices, three more USB Composite Device's appear saying they're not connected? Tad bit confused over what to do here, any suggestions are welcome, thanks !

So I like to play games on my computer with a wired controller because I get tired of keyboard controls, but I run into two problems with this. One usb on the right side is used by a wireless mouse, and the other is the wired controller. The USB on the left side is open, and my headphones are USB-only. Usually my headphones work on the right side, but on the left side they are not working. What's the reason for this?

KazemLovHp Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!I read your post about USB port problems and wanted to help.  Unfortunately, the image you posted is now showing in the forums, so I can't see what you saw. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can perform to diagnose the USB problem: HP PCs - Troubleshooting USB connections (Windows 10, 8) Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the problem you're up against is that Microsoft only supplies drivers with the most basic functionality, and what you really need for FULL functionality in laptops is the specialized drivers written for the specific hardware found in laptops -- and unfortunately, there are no HP Win10 drivers for your laptop. However, for MS-supplied drivers that aren't working well, you could consider using HP Win8.1 drivers -- although there's no guarantee that those drivers will work.  Here's the link to the HP Product drivers and software page for Win8  for your PC:  http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-g6-1200-notebook-pc-series/5145704/model...If that page does not show Win8.1 when you open it, then click Change and select Windows 8 using the pulldown. You might have to install the drivers using compatibility mode: http://www.windows10forums.com/articles/compatibility-mode.7/ I would suggest you try the Driver-Chipset drivers as those generally affect the USB ports on the motherboard.Good LuckI am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor... Hi all,I'm not sure if I posted in the correct forum and I'm new to this so bear with me.  So I bought this laptop around 5 months ago and only about 1 month ago the left side of the touch screen is not working. It would register that something is touching the bottom left side because I have my visual feedback turned on and after a half a minute of that, you can see it go haywire and register nearly the entire 1/3 left side. After 30 seconds of it going haywire, it would stop. And then either the entire left side or just the bottom left side would completely not register any touches at all. This wouldn't happen all the time, just every other day and definitely enough to be extremely annoying.  I bought my laptop in to get fixed for a completely unrelated problem because it's still under warranty and I told them about this issue but it doesn't seem like they fixed it and I'm thinking it's because it just didn't happen to happen to them when they had it. Also, I'm not sure if it's a software issue (since I don't think that's covered by warranty) or hardware. I have Windows 10 Pro, 64 bit OS, pen and touch support with 10 points.  Is there anyway that you guys can help me on this? It would be much appreciated.

A:Dell XPS 9560 Screen - left side cooler and right side warmer

If "recently" is less than 21 days from shipment and from Dell directly, the best option is to contact customer support and have the system replaced.
If it's more than 21 days from shipment, the warranty will cover the display replacement, which is the only solution -- though if the system is new enough, you're better off having it replaced than repaired.

Model:  HP Pavilion m6 Notebook PC 15".   Laptop used minimally and still in beautiful shape other than these noted issues:  Left hinge is broken away from plastic casing (see pic) and Right hinge is broken away from lid plastic (see pic).   From what I'm reading, it seems the plastic base, chassis, and possibly lid base and hinge need replaced.  Please let me know what HP is offering as far as replacement parts and repair.  This seems to be an ongoing issue with HP notebooks.  I've purchased a total of three HP notebook/laptops over the past four years so I'm very concerned about these issues and why HP has allowed it to continue for so long and across so many different models.  It seems to me the plastic used in making these parts does not have the tensile strength required in notebook/laptop use.  I would think this issue would've been corrected years ago and not have continued.  Please advise.  I do love all my HP laptops other than these issues.   Thank you.

Has anyone seen this before?
This seems to be happening more and more, I am using my PC (with Windows 8 Pro) as an HTPC and its connected via HDMI to a plasma TV so the PC is always on. Sometimes, when I go to use the pc I turn the TV on and then move the mouse around to turn the display on and I see the attached image, it looks as though the screen has shifted to the right and wrapped around to the other side.
I ran windows 7 with the same hardware on this setup for years without an issue. Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Very frustrated with this...I opened the laptop gently as I would always do  and the hinge on the left side of the laptop just snapped and popped out of the plastic monitor frame.  The design of the hinges are just terrible and i can now see how they work because the case has been damaged just from opening and closing the laptop.  I can now see inside the whole left side of the case.  To top it off I have already invested considerable time into upgrading the OS to Windows 10 and customizing and installing software on this laptop. I cannot close my laptop entirely since the screen closes on an incorrect angle. Since I am out of warranty, is there any way to fix this problem? After reading several posts, it seems to be a common problem with the envy models.

I have a strange problem. I recently had to move my graphics card from one slot to another on my motherboard. When I did so, my desktop appeared to be shifted over to the left and that the left most part of the desktop would not display. I tried to use my TV controls to shift the display horizontally and when I did I encountered two issues- 1) the display would not adjust flush with the right side of the screen (would not reach it leaving a slim black bar) and 2) it looked like someone sliced off the left most part of my desktop (the part missing was a width so that about half the start/ windows button was missing).

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling CCC (latest update/drivers) for my ATI Raedon HD 46xx series card with no luck (Doing a registry sweep between to be thorough). I also have updated everything else windows with no luck.

My desktop is fine @50hz by the way, but 60hz is problematic.

And here is the whammy!

I took a screenshot of my desktop to send to a friend so he could see the left part cut off by a black bar and when I pasted it, the whole screen is there in the pic!!

So I assume this means that windows thinks it is displaying the screen but it is not making it to my TV?

I would have given up on this, however, it was working before so I know that it is possible.

Any help with this issue would be appreciated as I am starting to pull my hair out over here! :-)
Thanks in advance!

A:Desktop shifted left and cutoff on left side Win7 64bit Raedon HD 46xx

Hum I had a similar thing happen with my monitor I just could not get it to the edges and someone advised me to use the scaling in the CCC and it worked so give it go.

Personally I got so fed up with the ATi stuff and went NVidia best thing I ever did.

There's this annoying white noise on my left speakers(Logitech X-540 Speakerset), though I think it's not my speakers that are causing it, but something else, because when I connect my iPod to my speakers there's no white noise.

So I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to get rid of this noise

A:White noise on left speakers/left side of headphone

Sounds like either a driver malfunction or more likely a failing sound card. Most of the stuff below (Windows & Programs) wouldn't likely be causing problems. I'd be willing to bet it's a hardware problem (due to it only being one side).

Figure Out What's FailingIf you're using a secondary sound card
*** i.e. you have a second built in one on your motherboard, enable that.
If you still hear the sound on a different card, then it's something within Windows and not a problem w/ hardware.
If you don't hear the sound, then it's something w/ drivers or your hardware.
If you don't have an extra sound card, see if you can find/buy one Replace DriversDownload & Install a Program like Guru's Driver Sweeper
Uninstall your sound drivers w/ Driver Sweeper
Download and install the latest drivers for your sound card.
RebootIf the sound is still there and you couldn't test a secondary card you're likely dealing with either a hardware failure (most likely with sound only happening in one speaker) or something in Windows failing.

Repair WindowsIf you want to try to fix windows, you can do the following:
Run an elevated Command Prompt and run this command:
sfc /scannow
Peform a system restore
Perform a repair install.Test to see if a program is causing the problemType msconfig into start menu search and hit Enter
Go to the startup tab and disable everything.
Restart computer
Do you still hear the sound?
Yes -- Not a program
No -- A program is likely causing the problem. If no... Read more

Hi, I have a CTL 17" LCD monitor. This morning I turned on my pc and found that the left side of my monitor is darker than the right side. Any idea as to what the problem could possibly be?

A:My monitor is brighter on the right side than on the left side

I don't know which orientation the tubes have, but if it is vertical, the tubes on the left may be on their way out. Most LCD monitors unless specifically advertised otherwise (ie - LED) use fluorescent tubes for the backlight.

So, I'd say it is on its way out and there is nothing you can do to fix it short of just replacing it. The left side may brighten to normal after being on several minutes/hours. Did you notice if that happened the longer you had it on?

Hello cruel world,
While seemingly being virus free for few months, I was reformating my s/d card when Avast warnings chimed. I can only assume that the worm jumped back on the laptop from being deleted. The Avast warning where from "y.exe" and "usb.exe" both being labeled as "Win32:Malware-gen" and "msil:elasrofah" worm. I tried running the DDS program after downloading it but no program was found to run it properly. Obviously I need help, please.

Thanks in advance,

A:Pop-ups going to the left side?

Here you go. The 2nd tutorial was written for Vista, but works in Windows 7. It's also a lot easier than the 1st.

How to Set Windows 7 Menus to Open to the Left or Right Side
How to Change the Menu to Appear to the Left or Right of a Click in Vista - easier

By the way, if there's not enough room for the pop-up to open on the set side, it will still open on the other side. So, when that happens, it doesn't mean that the setting isn't working.

I just purchased a new puter with windows 7. However the left side of the screen is cut off and I can't get to the windows there. How do i change the size or resolution of the home page..?

A:Left side of screen is cut off

First make sure the display resolution is set to the correct values for that particular monitor (the monitor has a "native" resolution and you need to set the display resolution to match that). Changing the resolution doesn't just change it for the "home page" (whatever that is?), it changes it for everything.

After setting the resolution to the correct values, any further adjutments to picture size that are needed can be made with the monitor's own height and width adjustment controls (usually via an on-screen menu system in conjuction with the monitor's buttons).

With Windows 8 , I have the following problem.

The sound on my laptop seems to come only from the left side.
BUT once I plugin my head phones and unplug them, then the sound it good for both sides???

I am so confused... any thoughts?

A:Sound only left side but.....

You have a bad/dirty headphone jack. Plug in the headset plug, in and out several times to see if that corrects it. There are extra contacts in the jack to route the sound and one of the contacts is "dirty". Plugging in and out several times, in many cases, will fix it.

If not, it will have to be serviced.

I used to do guitar amp repair, and saw similar jack problems in guitar amps frequently,.

This question was probably asked a million times already, but I can't seem to find a topic that has a concrete answer.

The built in microphone is fine, but whenever I try to use the front jack to record with my studio mic, it only records on the left side. It'll record from both sides in mono, but not in stereo, and I prefer stereo. When I put the noise reduction on in audio manager, it can be heard on both sides when I record in stereo, but it doesn't sound as good.

I've been using wavepad since it's a very simple program. On my other computer, which uses windows xp, it works fine in both stereo and mono and I don't even need to adjust anything in the settings.

I have been using my Acer S201HL as an external monitor for my Toshiba Satellite l755 for almost 2 years now, and it suddenly is no longer recognized correctly. In the display settings it is show as a Generic Non-PNP monitor. I have already reinstalled drivers, unplugged and plugged back in, and reinstalling Acer eDisplay Management.

A:External Monitor cut off on left side

A problem I've seen using external monitors with Notebooks is the screen resolution, have to be able to use the same such as 1440x900. It's part of the difference between XGA and WXGA with the WXGA being the wide-screen display. Most external LCD/LED monitors have an Auto button or OSD setting for making adjustments, Auto usually gets the same full screen as on the Notebook on mine.

A:i can't see left side panel in my computer...

Have you tried tapping F11 or 12 once(not sure) to see if the page snaps back. Or next try the OSD (on-screen display) for the monitor. Check the Horizontal Size and/or Position.See ,,, Use The OSD To Adjust Your Monitor

Is there such a trick or hack to change its position from the right to left side on the task or quick launch bar? Since the standards have always been left to right, you'd think such a feature would be the same for convenience

A:Aero Peek on the left side

That start menu is on the Left side...why would they put the Show Desktop button there too?
But no there is no way to move it.
