Preferred Solution: Graphic problem when minimizing game.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello, i need to ask people of this problem because i cant figure this out...

Recently, iv upgraded from a GeForce 5500 (which had no problems in the past) to a GeForce 6200 (which is fine for me, out of date i know).. Im finding that whenever i open anything pretaining to Video games or even just random occurences, that it hard-locks and the graphics get very odd.

So, i figured that maybe my computer cant run the game. And it can. So i ruled out that aspect. So it must be my GeForce doing this to me.
So, does anyone have any idea what my problem is?
Side Note: It even has graphic problems on a game called Terraria (2D side scroller)

Hi, I am not getting proper graphics for godfather game. The gameplay is like, the characters are ok but the environment and vehicles are all white color. I have intel 82852/82855 gm/gme graphic controller with 64 mb video memory.

A:Godfather game problem with graphic issues.

You need a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics card and the Intel 82852 is only DX 8 compatible. If its a laptop you need a new one, if its a desktop machine I would consider getting a decent graphics card to play games.

So I have had this problem for a while now and only with certain games. What happens is that when I launch a game the screen goes black like the game is loading, but after a few seconds the game minimizes and the screen goes back to the desktop. My computer says the game is still running, but when I go to click on it to try and re-open the game...it simply minimizes to the desktop screen again. I have updated windows and my graphics card so it shouldn't be that I need to update my drivers or anything. I have tried just about anything and I am now lost and in need of some help. So if anyone can help in any way, it would be much appreciated. Thank you!

just try this.. clear all the items from startup,
start->run type msconfig hit enter, click on startup tab on the system configuration window, uncheck all the items except firewall and antivirus programs. click ok and restart the system.. once its back on, try playing the game... see how it behaves... if still you have the same issue. check the system requirement for the game and see you have compatible hardware. unistall the game and try reinstalling if the hardware is compatible.

If I hold down any button on my keyboard, and quickly drag my mouse down while holding left click, the game minimizes. Is this a feature with windows 10? Anyone knows a fix to this?

I have an XP home version installed on my desktop computer.
When I play a game I.E. "Pharaoh", about every 30 minutes the screen will minimize down to the task bar by itself on my desktop. I can click it on the task bar and it will come back to full screen again with no apparent problem. Then approx 30 minutes later it repeats this.
It's not a terrible problem but just a bother. Also I wonder if it may be a prelude to another problem. It's like the computer received a command to pause the game and minimize the screen.
I've looked at the display settings on the control panel but find no reason for this.
I have played these games before on this same setup and never had this problem. It looks like a simple problem yet I can find no solution.
Anyone have some suggestions?
Thanks

A:PC Game window minimizing.

Check to see if you have any programs set to automatically download updates, like Adobe, iTunes Anti-Virus etc. Also check in the Task Manager for automatic updates (other then Microsoft) These may be calling home every 30 minutes or so.
Also update your Display/Video Driver to the latest version.

I have an issue when playing games. They take up the full screen and for some reason, the game will quite randomly minimize. This is an issue with some older and more unstable games since they tend to crash at the same time. I'm not sure whether there is some hot-key or a go-to-desktop combination key, so if anyone has any answers, please help!

A:Random game minimizing?

You might be accentually hitting the "windows" key, causing the windows start menu to take focus so the game will minimize.

Heya.. I've been searching for an answer to this question all over the internet for about a week now, and I still haven't found anything, so I thought, that I write here...
There's absolutely no problems with MAFIA installation, as I know, many people do. Also, I've reinstalled it about five times, so don't recommend that to me. When I open the game, then first of all, NOD32 determines something.. if you think, that it would help, if I wrote here, what it actually says, then I will write it here, but you gotta let me know. Besides, there's nothing that could be a virus, I have original CD's, right from Gathering of Developer's. Then I close NOD32 form task manager, and open Mafia again (the last time nothing but the NOD note appeared). This time is almost the same, only without the NOD notification. When I look at the task manager processes, then Game.exe appears for a half of a second, but that's all, and even that isn't happening every time. Once, way back, about 3 months ago p) it gave me 'Init error'. Then I looked up in the internet and Illusion Softworks had said, that most of the 'Init errors' comes from the graphic card drivers or not updated DirectX. DirectX is up to date, but here comes my problem, there's just no drivers for my graphic card on ATI website. Ofcourse, I've looked from other sites but still notning normal..

Now clearly: If I open Game.exe, nothing happens, what to do? I ... Read more

I've been using this windows 7 desktop for over a year, and everything has been fine until the past few days. When I minimize a program or when i maximize it when it is minimized, the program lags. For example, when I am running firefox and when i click the minimize button, instead of firefox minimizing in a swift motion, it minimizes slowly in other words, lagging. Also, when I play Warcraft the game lags. It lags in a really strange way, almost as if the game is drifting around when I move my mouse. Usually when games lag, the controls you make respond slowly, or it is in a jerky kind of way. I've tried restarting my computer many times, and all is well for the first 15 mins or so, before this lag kicks in. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A:Programs lag when minimizing, warcraft game lags

That lag has to do with internet lag (slow connection). Your lag would likely have more to do with a slow computer (but we'll see if we can fix that).
First order of business: What kind of antivirus do you have? You might couple Malwarebytes with it and see if malwarebytes finds anything. It is a known and reputable antimalware that works well with most antivirus software (Haven't heard otherwise). Update it and let it scan your computer.
I have this link to a list of tutorials that may provide you with a speed boost, try it out: Optimize Windows 7
You will need all your drivers installed and up to date. Could you please provide me with this information, and I will let you know what those drivers are: Fill out your system specs (this tool may help you out a great deal).

I have an HP Pavilion desktop PC with Windows XP Home SP3.

For the past several days, my wife has been experiencing an interesting problem. She enjoys playing some of the simpler PC games, like "Scrabble" and "Bejeweled" to name a couple.

While she is playing these games (any of them; they all do this), about every 20 minutes or so, the game will suddenly go black, then minimize from full-screen mode ("true" full-screen mode, not even the task bar shows on the screen during play), to the desktop. She then clicks on the game's tab in the task bar, and the game comes back up in "paused" mode, and she then must click the "resume game/play" button to continue.

I am trying to figure out what is causing this, and would appreciate any assistance.

Thank you to all who take the time to reply.

A:Game Programs Minimizing For No Apparent Reason

I would take a look in Event Viewer for errors noted which approximate these nuisances.

My guess would be that these games may be 16-bit (I've play Bejeweled & Scrabble before but that was on Win 9x systems)...or there is simply file corruption in the games.

Or there is a problem with the video drivers and these games...in which case I would uninstall the current video drivers and then reinstall them.

Hard to say, but uninstalling/reinstalling the video drivers won't hurt anything.

Okay, so on almost EVERY game I play, when I start it up, black screen, (Which isnt that much of a problem, i mean starting a game can take a long time.) and I enjoy it. I need to do something, check something, or do anything non game wise, I have to minimize. Well, here is where I get frustrated. I alt+tab, alt+delete, anything, even open up task manager, I get either a black screen, or a frozen screen (depending on the game) for about 30 seconds. Nothing I can do. After it is done pissing me off, my computer goes to desktop, or whatever, and then its fine. I go back to the game? Another freeze. I am running a Vista Home Premium x64 dell computer, with intel quad core, and nVidia Geforce 9800 GTX+ graphics card. (Im not exactly sure on how to fill out specs, so feel free to ask for anything you might need to know) Help would be great, I've been able to deal with this issue for a while but now its just unbearable.

Hello,
I bought this PC yesterday, specifically to play flight simulator 2004 and/or FSX. Both installed OK but when I run them after about 10 seconds they both minimize to desktop. They don't crash; I can reopen them but they do the same thing. I ran FS9 in safe mode; it didn't minimize but instead automatically paused in the same intervals.
Moreover, whenever I type for longer than a few seconds like I am now, the curser disappears like I have switched windows and I have to reclick this window to type again. This is also very irritating and confusing. It's as if windows is constantly trying to return to the desktop. It also happens on Word and hotmail, anything that involves typing.
I have checked what background programs I'm running and can't see any.
All help appreciated, thanks.

Alright guys i'm new in this forum first thread but i was really noob when i bought a graphic card for my pc and now i dont have enough cash for a new one, anyway i bought a nvidia geforce 8400 gs 512mb card and when i play any game at all it lags so i played in low settings but then in nvidia control panel i say that anti aliasing and all that was on quality (which in game wasnt even there -.-) but i turned it on max performance and it still runs a little slow and the games i still have to play on low quality settings to have smooth game play, my pc is also good specs are: core 2 duo E7400 @ 2.80Ghz 6gb ddr2 ram. The other problem is i have temporary removed my graphic card and am using internal GPU which has ded vid mem of 128mb but in bios setting i put it on max and i used CpuZ to see how much max is and it shows 320mb but on Personalization>Display settings>Advanced settings it still shows 128mb is there a solution to increase this and is there a solution to run games smoothly on my nvidia graphic card?

Your graphics card is outdated. You should be able to play older games smoothly on it, but newer games will struggle. What games are you wanting to play on this computer?

Hi All

I have a medion laptop, running 32bit version of Windows 7 ultimate, 160GB Hard Drive & 1Meg Ram. It ran fine for about a year after upgarding from Windows Vista to the above system about a year ago.

All was fine until I installed some Nvidea updates which kind of came as auto/recommended updates via windows 7 updates.
Now when I turn the computer on it loads ok in normal mode but I have 4 small screens running length ways, (left to right) both at log in & once I've logged on which I can just about do.

I have tried the following;
1. unistalling the updates
2 also did a system restore back to before I installed the updates but that then re-installed the above updates.

The computer works fine except for the above it will update with windows etc Nortons all no problem, but I cant see what im doing too well!

Also another thing that happens is that the standy is greyed out & even if I go in settings & try to change this I cant.

I dont think the system is loading up 4 times...& my other thought is it maybe something to do with screen settings but just a guess...?
I can connect a external H/D & this will work on via the USB port but also get 4 views as per above.
Below is the full spec. I also have Malware anti-bytes & Super spyware installed & update & run them everyday & do regular scans. I keep all the Microsoft updates up to date. I use Firefox browser mostly. Hope this help!

Ok so 2 days ago my computer started showing white speck on the background and mainly on the windows taskbar. These specs only seem to appear when the computer is processing information. Every key stroke and when the computer is receiving information from the internet. Also Graphics in game seem to be really jacked up. Walls appear where they shouldn't and at weird angles. Characters have large spikes growing from their hands, feet, and end of weapons. I have tried to install an updated driver, scanned for viruses, unplugged monitor and still nothing has worked. Any information to help resolve this issue would be appreciated.

Also, have ATI Radeon HD 4800 series vid card and an AMD phenom 9850 quad core 2.5
I tried screen shotting the specks but they dont show up on screen shots.

Hiya

As you may already know, by the title, I'm having trouble with the graphics of the game 'Black & White'. Everything like the trees and people, are very WEIRD things like eyes, or colours such as green. I have tried everything that I can think of, like downloading a patch from this website (I think it was voodoo 3DFX tools) unzipped it, then tried it, and it still didn't work. Everything else seems to be running smoothly, and problem-free though. Does anyone know what the cause of this problem ?

Help greatly appreciated, aswell as five million pounds.....

Thanks,
gamegeek2

EDIT: Website is www.voodoofiles.com/3201
EDITEDIT: (Man I'm obsessed with these!!) Oh yeah, and I've updated EVERYTHING such as drivers and graphic things, so don't ask about them.
EDITEDITEDIT: (Thats it I give up!) I also forgot, that before I had to reboot this computer, that the game was fine, except for the err, occasional crash (due to too many temple things) . And may I add, I hope this is the last edit I make

Post your system specs, that will help more.

Did you check if there was a patch available for the game, and if so, did you install it?

I can post a picture of my problem if need be. Any program or window I open then minimize won't minimize to the taskbar... they minimize to a "tab" or whatever at the bottom of the desktop. Anyone ever have this problem?EDIT: Problem solved via System Restore.

All of the games I play on my computer (Battlefield 2, World of Warcraft, Guild Wars, F.E.A.R. demo) have developed a habit of minimizing in-game every few minutes. I used to have a Geforce FX 5200, but just upgraded to a Gefore 6800GT. However, this was happening before the card switch. Any help?

Could it be another program running in the background stealing focus? Or maybe some malware?

this just started a few days ago: i'm playing a game, and suddenly, with no warning at all, it gets minimized! it doesn't seem to matter what game, this happens randomly with anything that displays in FULLSCREEN mode!

i tried to fix this with Windows Sytem restore, and it seemed to help-until i let windows, AVG antivirus, and some games re-update, then it came back.

note that one game, Supreme Commander, minimized while playing ALONE-that is, NOT online!

i've tried scanning with Adaware, but all it found were some "cookies".

i just noticed some extra disk drive activity when it happens...

any ideas? other than re-installing Vista completely-which wouldn't help if this problem is with the latest OFFICIAL WINDOWS UPDATE, which i'm afraid it might be...

A:mysterious minimizing problem

Try to run Malwarebytes and see if this helps => http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebyte...-10804572.html

or you might want to uninstall then re-install your video driver then update it as well.

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine. If you have uploaded DMPs before please only the new ones.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.
To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if ... Read more
