I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi,

I've been browsing the site and the internet for a sollution to my problem, but can't seem te find it. There are similar postings, but they're always just a little different. So that's why i posted the new thread.

Since a couple of days i've been experiencing troubles shutting down my PC and using my USB ports. It started when i tried to log onto my work from home. It failed and the IT guy from work told me to reinstall citrix reciever. So I did and I was able to work from home. After finishing and logging out (to get back to my own PC) I found that my USB portst didn't work anymore. I tried rebooting, but af 10 minutes of "shutting down" I got a blue screen: Driver Power State Failure with code 1000009f.

I did the following:
- tried system restore - it failed with different time stamps
- update drivers - they were all up to date the system said
- Malware Bytes, CC Cleaner, MS Essentials, Hitman pro - Did them all, had some minor stuff, fixed that, problem remained.
- SFC/scannow - no problems
- Memory check - no problems

As it is now, the only update I have left is the update to WIN10. However it has tried and failed during a few of the reboots, so that doesn't seem to be and option.

After try all different kinds of things from a lot of posts I decided to refresh my windows install. Did a lot of updating and still the problem remains. Although I now found out that USB devices that are plugged in upon startup work. Once I unplug en replug them, t... Read more

I get a BSOD after working for a while and there seems to be nothing in common with the activities I am working on when it occurs. Computer is a HP Pavilion tx100 laptop with Vista Home Premium. I have attached the dump files from several occurrences. There were some additional files that for some reason I could not zip but are listed in a tex file included in the zip file. If you need them let me know and I'll try and send them

Thanks for any insight you can provide.

A:BSOD Driver Power State Failure

Thanks for the additonal info in the text file. These are the BSOD messages that are saved in your Event Viewer and will likely correspond to the dump files that I'm analyzing right now. The zip file contains 14 memory dump files from late May until very recently.

They are primarily STOP 0x9f errors with a single STOP 0xfe error.
The STOP 0x9f errors are a DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE error,
While the STOP 0xfe is a BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER error

So, the most likely cause here is a USB device that's having trouble with "suspend" operations. Do you have any USB devices attached to your laptop? Does this problem go away when they're unplugged?

Now we wait for the analysis to finish......

Phew! It's finally done!

So, the analysis shows the primary suspect as being ATSwpDrv.sys (dated from August of 2007) - which is a component of the AuthenTec Fingerprint Reader. It's usually hooked up internally to the USB bus, so this tends to confirm the initial suspicions.

The HP website doesn't show a TX100 laptop, but does show 36 different versions of the TX1000. Use this link to determine the exact model of your laptop: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...t_page=product (it's the numbers that number 1 points to) Let us know what the model number is.

Next, go to Start and type in "control system" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
Let us know what it says under System...System Type

Armed with that information, we can visit this site an... Read more

Hi,

usbccgp.sys blamed for most of the BSODs.

However looking closer the problem appears to be related to AiCharger.sys - an Asus program named AiCharger (may also be a part of the Asus AISuite).

Uninstall that software suite and see if problems persist.

You need to update your H5321 gw Mobile Broadband Driver.

The only known source is Lenovo Support - http://support.lenovo.com/us/en

If you can't find a driver update, go into Device Manager and disable the device since you are using your Intel 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection Ethernet for Internet.

Hi,

i got my notebook (MSI GE60) a month ago and since then i'm experiencing BSOD. It doesn't happen regularly. Sometimes it happens twice a day, sometimes nothing happens for 2 days .

Below i attached the dump files.

If any other info needed let me know.

A:BSOD: driver power state failure

two things, first Uninstall Daemon tools and then run this program:

Duplex secure

when you run the tool if the uninstall box is greyed out then your done If it is not then click it and let it uninstall. DO NOT click the install button It will install a Driver known to cause BSODs.

Second I notice that your video card driver (which is what the crash dumps are blaming as the problem) Is one of the drivers from the Dec 29 batch there are two things you can try, seeing if there is another update, I have heard tell that there is a beta driver that might solve the problem, or you can install an older driver and see if it fixes things. the drivers can be found here.

Hello- First-timer! Sorry, I hope this isn't a redundant post. I'm not too savy and don't understand all the lingo so go easy on me.

Backstory: This is my first post and I'm very new to the computer world (beyond the basics). I decided to try and take on my first build (everything new except PSU and case). Everything seemed fine until recently.

Problem: I keep getting the BSOD shortly after coming out of sleep mode. It mentions "Driver Power State Failure". I have read several posts claiming similar happenings but all of the replies seem very specific to people's hardware and associated drivers so I wasn't sure how to apply it to my situation. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have attached my dump files.

Thanks!

1. ISSUE - DVD ROM DRIVE

My DVD/CD ROM (MATSHITA UJ8C2) powers off on its own each time i start the laptop. I changed options in power management but the problem still persists. Also I am only able to eject dvd-drive, when pressing on eject button on the side of laptop. Ejecting in My Computer doesnt work - DVD RW Drive (powered off) is displayed with single line crossed red circle icon.

Device Manager message today:

Two different messages for DVD ROM Drive appeared after I booted the laptop.

To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer.

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory. (Code 38)

The driver could not be loaded because a previous version of the driver is still in memory.

2.ISSUE - Continueous Dropping of Shared internet connection

For the last couple of days, when I share the internet connection via wifi using cmd line netsh wlan start hostednetwork, the other devices - laptop thinkpad w520 and mobile phones - lose connection after few minutes. I must then turn off/on wifi adapter and restart the batch file with netsh wlan start hostednetwork. However, sometimes the wifi adapter doesnt turn on, so I'm forced to reboot... Read more

Came back to a computer that won't shut down, restart or sleep properly. When it does it takes several minutes and at one time gave me the titular BSOD. Everything works fine in Safe Mode (go figure), so I've got a rogue driver in here and I can't for the life of me figure out which one's causing the trouble.

Other symptoms are slow startup (screen starts black for up to a minute after the welcome screen) and Device Manager hangs whenever I try to change (enable/disable, uninstall) drivers. I picked up a hotfix (KB977307) to alleviate the shut down/sleep symptoms but I'd like a little more information before I install it.

Aside from those symptoms there's no major hit to running performance. It looks like I can still use my main comp but I have to rely on hard power downs and jump through safe mode to turn on the computer. The device manager issue is such because I often have to reset my network adapter (Unid network kills my internet sometimes, working to fix that). This will become more of a problem when the next rounds of updates come knocking though.

A:BSOD: Driver Power State Failure?

Please uninstall Daemon Tools as it's sptd.sys driver is known to cause BSOD's on Win7 systems. Then use this free tool to ensure that the offending sptd.sys driver is removed from the system: DuplexSecure - FAQ

The BSOD's blame o2sd.sys - a component of your Memory Card Reader software by O2Micro. Please download and install this driver to see if that fixes the problem: MSI Global ? Download Center
Also, please take care of these:
OLDER DRIVERS PRESENT IN THE DUMP FILES
- Create a System Restore Point prior to doing any of this. DO NOT mess with the drivers themselves - leave the Windows\System32\drivers directory alone unless we specifically direct you to it!

The Skinny

I found this forum from this thread with a similar prob. What's happening right now is,

Main prob:

1. The system can become slow after 15 mins, then the Shutting Down screen takes forever, when I pressed the ON button, I get the BSOD.

Minor issues

2. I'm always starting in 'Test Mode' since this began
3. Sometimes, the usb attached vodafone thumb-modem just stops working/undetected and I have to reinstall it, a result of 'Test Mode'?
4. I just got a Trackman Marble, can the SetPoint driver be the culprit?

Details:

Quote:

Last week, I faced some BSOD probs, but solved it by uninstalling the KB973879 Microsoft Update.

Things were relatively crash-free after that.

Yesterday I went to look at the downloaded but uninstalled MS Updates (horribly BAD idea ) and picked some updates while unticking 2 of those KB#### updates.

At restart, the ShutDown process went (screen is black, comp still on) on for an absurdly long time... I can't make it reboot with the ON button, in the end after 20 minutes I just removed the battery.

Argh!! Why??

Restarted and went into Startup Repair, then logged in.. there's this 'Test Mode' small text at all 4 corners of the wallpaper, and the Vista effects were off, i wonder what else is off in Test Mode?

Have you disabled driver signing in your copy of Windows? That's what usually causes this screen. As such, it's likely that you've installed a bad driver - please use System Restore to go back to a point before the driver installation.

A:BSOD - 9f - Driver Power State Failure

Hi -

As the thread title states, the bugcheck on both dumps -

0x9f (0x3,,,) = driver in an inconsistant power state and blocking an IRP for too long a time. Probable cause is Atheros.

Are you running ESET ESS w/ firewall or just NOD32 anti-virus? I see you have ESET newest version v 4.2.40.0, so installation must have been recent. When exactly and do you know if BSODs began before or after new ESET install?

I usually find 3rd party firewalls involved in 0x9f (0x3,,,) BSODs. I myself run NOD32 a/v only on this particular system - not ESS.

Run the Driver Verifier --> http://jcgriff2.com/Driver_Verifier.htm

What is exact model of HP dv5? Look on bottom label. There are numbers after dv5-xxxx. Is HP support where you got the Atheros wifi driver update?

Hello, this is my first time posting, so I hope I have met all the requirements. I have ran into the ole' BSOD caused by a driver power state failure. Just to bring you up to speed with what I have done thus far...I started with a system recovery after making a second copy of discs, thanks to freedrivecommander, and re-upgraded to 64bit windows 7 ultimate, upgraded from vista, and it started the same problem again. I have tried to use my hp health monitor to check my drivers and the only one it showed needing updating was one for the IR receiver, so I thought no big deal. I attached the dump file but was unable to run the perfmon / report. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

These were virtually identical and Related to hpdskflt.sys HP Disk Filter from Hewlett-Packard Corporation. I would re-install it (or remove it completely). I am not a big fan of HP's bloatware and remove it at all costs.

I have attached the files has requested.

I am having varying instances of Driver Power State failures as indicated by the BSOD This only happens when using the internet and I cant figure out which file is causing the shutdown.

Also interesting: I use my computer for home recording with an M-Audio interface, Blue Snowball Microphone, and Alesis M1Active 320USB studio monitors.
While recording or playing back in the Studio SONAR7, the program seems to just randomly start working at half speed and getting all jumpy. I will stop it rewind a bit and start it again and it is fine for a bit and then will start doing it again. Any Ideas on this? could this be linked to the same problem that is giving me the BSOD?

Hi Kurt and Welcome

These were all virtually identical and caused by your mausb.sys driver. M-Audio Fast Track Pro PNP Device ID USB\VID_0763&PID_2012\5&BD40FB&0&4 Driver c:\windows\system32\drivers\mausb.sys

I would remove it to test.

These crashes were probably caused by your nvidia network driver nvmf6264.sys

I would download and install a fresh copy
I would also run a system file check
(to do that type cmd in search>right click and run as admin>sfc /scannow) note the space between sfc and "/")

Let us know if you need help with this

Hi,

The timestamp on the driver that is causing the crash (nvm62x64.sys) is Sat Oct 18 10:01:06 2008 which is far to old for a Windows 7 system. Try updating the drivers, you should find them here (look for your motherboard chipset): http://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-uk

The bugcheck on the lone mini kernel dump -

Morning, all.

I could use a bit of help--I've been having a number of BSODs lately, and they always relate to a driver power state failure. Doing my own research has not really been as productive as I'd like.

Of note: this really only happens when I open the laptop back up after leaving it alone for some hours (when I wake up, and occasionally when I get back from work). The computer will run fine for about 5-10 minutes, and then I get a BSOD. I'm running Vista, SP2, on a Dell Inspiron 1525--haven't really had any major problems with this before.

I'm attaching a zip of the minidump and the msinfo32 file as I saw requested in another thread. Many thanks for any help!

I've searched the forums and this seems to be a common bsod but varying in drivers that need to be updated.

? OS - Windows 7 ?
? x64
hp dm1z laptop

Originally, my problem was that I would put my computer into sleep or hibernate and I would be unable to recover back into windows. HP helped me turn the power settings off and on thus resetting it and it fixed it.

But now my computer hits BSOD once it's been asleep for about 10-15 mins, extended periods. It'd show BSOD out of no where!

Hi,

The single BSOD blames your wireless networking driver.

athrx.sys Tue Sep 22 14:47:11 2009 (4AB83AAF)
See if an update fixes it - http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html

Hey there again guys! Recently my computer has been giving me a handful of BSoDs lately, claiming to have shut down because of a "driver power state failure". I've done my Google homework on this problem, but none of the forums I've checked were specific to the issues I've been having with my system. They include: updating drivers, deleting certain things and etc, but they all have different stuff on their computer than I have. It's happened to me five times since it started, last week or so. I'd love you forever if you could figure out for me why I keep getting my BSoDs!

I've attached the .dmp file and thank you guys! <3

A:BSoD -- driver power state failure

When does the BSOD occur?
I'd start by taking out any add-on peripherals inside your PC. Leave only the required components required to get into Windows connected - motherboard, ram, cpu, graphics card (if neccesary), and hard drive.
If it continues with this setup, i think it may be graphics drivers.

HI TomanSager and welcome

These crashes are virtually identical and Related to hidusb.sys Microsoft HID Class Driver.

It is simply taking too long to respond and there is probably a USB device preventing it.

What USB devices do you have connected?

I would run a system file check to verify and repair the OS files.

Run a system file check to verify and repair your system files.
To do this type cmd in search, then right click to run as administrator, then
SFC /SCANNOW

Read here for more information SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
