Q: Chinese Company Information In Client Name In Router

Last night I checked what clients I had logged onto my wireless as I was getting some weird download spikes I couldn't understand. The spikes were anything between 0.5mbps up to 3.0mpbs on the wireless. What I found out that was weird was that two of our phones had their client name changed to a chinese company's mailing address.

The table isn't perfectly aligned. I exported that out from my router. The router is an ASUS RT‑N66U. I might have some kind of bug on one of the computers in the household though. I'm running scans on that right now. My first confusion is just on those client names being changed. They should simply have "android[numbers]" listed for them.

I did find that the one computer was responsible for the spikes on the wireless. Maybe it's also responsible somehow for the client name changes? If so, I can go through the scan list and post the logs from it. I'm more or less looking to see if anyone has any insight on what could log into my router to change the names or somehow force them to change.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Yesterday, I did a scan of my network with WireShark 3.2.6  Scan was done on my hardwired Ethernet connection. I am somewhat new to advanced wireshark and I do not know everything there is to know but I am in the process of learning.
While looking at the results of a short scan I saw some unsettling IP Addresses that were appearing on my network. I do a lot of schoolwork online and I need to setup Windows 10 Professional's Firewall to block this IP Address or possibly even a range of
IP Addresses.
Problem is: When I do searches with keywords such as "Blocking an IP Address with Windows 10 firewall" I end up receiving results that are intended for businesses or results that are meant for a Windows Server.
I need an understandable solution to this potential security problem. One that I can use Microsoft tools to fix and not some 3rd party app if possible.
My system:
Windows 10 Professional build 18363.1016
MS Office 365 Enterprise Edition subscription through my school
Dell Optiplex 790 with the latest BIOS update

3 weeks ago, a sales man from Google Local Business Center called in to promote their new $25/mo service.
Compared to it's free services, $25 is just paid for a marker. In 2 weeks, he called me 3 times, and continued persuading me to try $25 immediately.
At last time, I told him our company is Internet company, there are generally 2-3 visitors come to our office directly each month. And in Google Analytics, we hadn't found same traffic statistic from Google Local business center as what he mentioned. So I very politely asked him to try other clients. (call me 3 times without my permission already disturbed my business life)
Today, I surprisingly find, when I search our company's address in the Google map, all my neighbor company inside the building are on the left side of the map, only except our company!
It's my first time to know how a so-called free BETA program for BUSINESS can be such shameless!
But we are just a tiny company in front of Google. What else can we say?
Kind reminder, If anyone get the phone call from Google Local business center and didn't pay for $25, please check your company's location as well.

Hey guys, I'm new here and have what maybe a basic question.

I've been asked to get together information on every pc within our company, (50+)

the information I need is,
What OS it is, including if it has any service packs.
Its windowsupdate status (Whether any are needed).

Now that above information I can get via our WSUSserver (which isn't working very well)

The information I can't is software lists. We need to put together a list of every item listed on every machines "Add/Remove Programs"

Is there a bit of software that I can aquire such information via our network.

Or am I going to have to go round every single machine and manually write down whats on the lists?!

hi there,

i have a speedport router modem (t-online) and a netgear router, so two people can visit the net at the same time (speedport has one slot for one comp only, hence the netgear router.)

there was a sudden electrical problem ant my place and the modem lost all its setup data. i set it up again but i lost the tcp/ip data. i talked to the netgear person on he phone for 55 minutes (no joke) and he couln't get it to work, he told me the data doesn't need to filled in.

here's the thing: i do remember that the tcp/ip data was filled in even though everyone else tells me that i don't need it. i know it works that way, but i just cannot remember what to put into the 2 "dns server" slots. please help me out, if you can. and even though it sounds crazy to do that, i distinctly remember it worked. i'm the wrong person to explain to you why though

I just received delivery of a mini camera/voice recorder that has an instruction sheet in both Chinese characters and also broken English...very broken! In fact, it's basically incomprehensible. Is there anyone viewing this that may be able to help me translate the instructions, because I can't get the recorder to work yet. The colors of the light indicators on the recorder and the instructions don't even match. All that I can observe is red and blue, while the instructions refer to a yellow and green in addition to red.....go figure. And yes, I've contacted the seller about this but they haven't responded yet. I strongly suspect they don't have a clue either...they're just merchandisers, not tech folks.

I've attached a copy of of the so-called English instructions, but if you can read Chinese please contact me and I'll send you or post the instructions written in Chinese characters.

Can I use a wireless router as a client?

My situation.
I have a wireless router with built in modem downstairs with a few computers connected and a few more computers and devices upstairs that need to by hardwired to the router.

Can I use a wireless router to wire all the devices together and connect it to the router downstairs as a client?
Is this base station mode?

A:Router as a client?

You can use a router as a Wireless Bridge (or Wireless Client)--which "extends" a Wi-Fi network to an ethernet portion--if it supports that mode. If it doesn't support that mode there may be third party firmware (e.g., DD-WRT) for it.

Hi Everyone,

I've been having an on-going issue with my wireless router and I'm hoping that someone here can help me gain a better understanding as to why it happens.

I currently have a DSL modem running thru a NetGear wireless router. There are no computers in the house that are ever directly connected to the router via ethernet - 5notebooks (B and G mode) all connecting wirelessly at one time or another with up to 4 connections at a time.

What's happening is about once every 3-4 weeks or so, the wireless router will stop 'passing' the DSL signal thru. When you try to connect wirelessly, the Wi-Fi cards do not even see the wireless network. When I plug an ethernet cable directly into the modem and into one of the notebooks (bypassing the router), I can get on the internet.
So I reboot the router (unplug it for approx. 30 seconds) and re-connect it to the modem.... This seems to work just fine, but I'm wondering if this is normal or if I am doing something wrong here.

I have a few friends who claim they've never had to reboot their modems like this. The only thing that is different in their setups is that they have desktops/towers that are physically hard-wired to their wireless routers.

Can anyone help me to understand why this is happening and if there is something that I might be doing wrong?

Thanks in advance for the help!

A:Wireless Router information

Could be faulty, overheating or just the behaving like a crashed computer. If it's that infrequent I wouldn't worry too much. My dad's is like this, keeping it cool improves the time between reboots.

Is it possible to get more information on KB3025097?

I am working on an NFS server implementation and I'd like to know whether there is anything that can be done to avoid the issue from the server side. The KB article does not say what was the issue with the NFS client and how the hotfix changed the behavior.
Any additional details about the KB3025097 issue would save me the trouble of trying to tweak the NFS server behavior to see if the Windows NFS client will accept it.

Any hints on what the issue is related to would be very helpful. E.g., is it something about our FSSTAT reply that Windows NFS client doesn't like?

Ultimately we need a solution for all recent Windows versions (Win 7 or later), but any information that applies to any
Windows version would be helpful and valuable.

Network guru:
need help here.
months ago before changing a router I had an AP, and a 2nd router set as a Client Bridge, so pc's on one could detect pc's on the other. Can't recreate that for some reason [another long thread] but what I did get up and running is 2nd router in Client [wireless client] mode, so the 2nd router is pulling its internet access from the AP, but the addressing on the 2nd router is different [DHCP is enabled, and the router's ip is different:, whereas the AP is .1.1 and doles out its devices as .1.110 & up ... which is strange]
So, I have a 7 pc behind the 2nd router [the client router] which is addressed as

how do I directly access that PC from one that is wirelessly connected to the AP [i.e. an address of] ??? what's the syntax?

A:HOw to directly address 2nd PC on the client router, from behind AP ?

I can't really envision your network set up as it seems kind of backwards to me. If you need direct access to the other network machines then they should all be using the same default gateway obviously enough.

Ideally you should set the router as the gateway by plugging it into the modem using the "WAN PORT" with DHCP enabled. The A/P is typically plugged into a switch which is wired to the router with DHCP turned off. This way the A/P will get it's IP from the router and the default gateway address will be the same for both of them, which is as it should be on a typical network.

Any machine connecting to the A/P will obtain it's IP and default gateway from the router rather than the A/P.

I'm trying to connect my HP C6200 printer to a Linksys WRT54g v2.2 router I've set up to be in client mode with a Netgear N300 WNR2000 v2 router used as the main broadcasting router. I can't seem to get the printer to be seen when the laptop is connected wirelessly to the Netgear.

I have no problems accessing the internet with my laptop plugged into the client router so I know that is communicating with the Netgear. I have no problems pinging the printer from the client router and toggling settings, getting info, etc. I have no problems pinging the Netgear either.

When I go to connect wirelessly to the Netgear I get a message that the printer has been disconnected and I can no longer print test pages or ping the printer.

Is it possible to get this working or have I overlooked one or more settings?

Thanks in advance.

A:Connecting Printer to Client Router

If you are using a static IP configuration on the printer or for the laptop's wireless you may have inadvertently created a duplicate IP situation.

If both are using dynamic addressing you may need a "network reset." Shut down/off everything. Then plug in the modem and then Netgear router and then Linksys and follow that by turning on or booting the other devices.

What is the private IP of your router?

If you know it then you can login to the router by typing the private IP in the address bar of internet explorer (or any web browser).

For ex: your router's private IP is or or or any such IP address
type or simply (type your exact IP in place of shown by me) in browser and enter. You will be greeted with the router's control panel's login page where you can enter the username and password.

If you do not know the private IP of your router,
Open Command prompt from Run command and enter "ipconfig /all"

in the given data look for the IP of default gateway, DHCP server or DNS server.
That is your router's private IP.

Trying to make sure my sister's network is safe. After physically removing two computers from the network that had Webwatch installed I'm trying to make sure no further external network/PC monitoring is possible.

She has an ON-Q Legrand 4 port ethernet router/switch (DA1004) that reports 2 clients connected when the only thing that is connected is a single PC. We even disconnected the WAN, it still reports two clients. Could this be a virtual client waiting for Webwatch to upload its cached info?

The router's manual shows a screenshot of a disconnected router reporting 1 connected client. So I'm trying to get back to this point.

If the extra connection shouldn't be there how do I kill it?

Appreciate any advise, thanks

hello guys,

good day! please i need your help on what to do's regarding wrh54g client configuration. i been setting up today the point of access for its secured network mode with WPA shared key on XP-SP3. tried successfully on a client with windows7 lappy, but then my problem was that my boss want me to set it on a manual mode. i mean, he wanted it that everytime he disconnect the wireless and decide to connect again later he likes to input again the password. but as ive see it everytime i tried to reconnect, the password is automatically inputted already and ready to connect. not unless u click the wpa box and the password will be deleted. boss wanted this kind of setup for security purposes. i hope u can help me on this matter. my other options also were not successful.

all comment and help will be highly appreciated.

A:[SOLVED] please help on WRH54G router client configuration..

Let me say this much. If that were the case with my wireless network, I would be entering my 64 character passkey every time I connected to my wireless network. I could just copy and paste it from a text file, but then what is the point of doing that over just letting the computer save it for me? If your boss wants to make sure his wireless security is strong, his efforts are much better spent doing what I have done by going to the website linked below, copying the "64 random hexadecimal characters (0-9 and A-F)", while using either WPA, or WPA2. The kind of authentication I think he is getting at, is something a radius server would be better at providing, provided your computers were part of a domain.

In Windows 7, I know it is possible to have it not remember your passkey provided that you do not check the checkbox during the connection setup. My memory is a little off with XP. Does it provide something similar?

Everything is working fine (I have internet from both - can ping each other etc)

But i cannot ping the actual router from the client (PC) - I can ping it fine from the laptop.

Says: Reply from Destination Host Unreachable. (then repeats)

Am i missing something? or is it supposed to work like this?

Any help would be majorlly appreachated - as i cannot get to the router login page from any computer other than the laptop which is connected to it wirelessly.

Thank you in advance?

A:Client cannot ping router through host (ICS) - No other problems...

I'm not 100% sure how ics works but my assumption would be that it acts as a router and as such is a layer 3 boundry device. What I would try doing is using a different subnet for the link from the pc to the laptop something like as what I think is happening here is from the desktop when you try to access the router it is switching rather than routing and an ics box won't forward on layer 2 packets. I could be off the mark but try a different range on that link

Hi all

I am having a problem with one Dell D630 laptop which continually loses connectivity to the internet although the wireless signal stays connected. This started happening immediately after changing my router from a Netgear to a D-Link DIR-655 draft-N router. The weird part though is that no other clients are affected when this happens - I have 2 iPhones and two other laptops in the house and they all work fine when the Dell is seeing this problem.

The only way I've found to fix it so far is to run the Winsock fix tool I downloaded from the web. It then starts working again but only for a short time. Anywhere from 10 mins to a few hours later the connection goes down again and I have to run run the Winsock fix. Restarting the router, modem, etc doesn't make any difference and as I say, the other clients on the network don't have this problem. I'm sure must be something to do with the router as the old Netgear one worked fine - but why it would only affect one laptop and not the others has me stumped.

Can anyone shed any light on what the problem may be? It's very frustrating.

Okay I know this may be asking too much but I want it...

Are there any affordible (I.E. cheap but GOOD) SOHO routers out there that provide configureable DHCP becsides just the starting IP the number of connections allowed? I mean where you can input your own DNS, Ip scheme, and information.

I don't want to turn this server into a DHCP server if I can avoid it at all but I don't want to have to hardcode most of these PC's. This shop already blew their bugdget on the SBS server so I want to keep their costs down.

Thanks for the help.

A friend of mine set up my new wireless router a few months ago and doesn't remember the account information he used to set it up for me. I have now moved into an apartment complex and need to password it. How can I do this without knowing the setup information? It is a netger wireless router. Thanks for any help here. I don't want have to go buy a new one to start over!

A:How to password wireless router without knowing my setup information?

Hi and welcome to TSG.

Are you able to log into the router or did your friend change the administration log-in password?

If you can no longer log into the router administration pages, check the router for some kind of recessed Reset switch. The user manual should tell you where it is and how to use it. You should then be able to log into it using the default user name and password. That will then allow you to configure it to work with the apartment's Internet connection and also configure the Wireless encryption method and password.

Hey there, I work at a computer repair business and my boss recently told me and her co-boss that we shouldn't access the business' router's settings from a client's computer.
I thought it to be safe as long as you didn't save your password.
What is the risk in doing this?

A:Risk in accessing router settings from client's computer...

One risk is getting fired for not following instructions. ;)

Hi Guys,

got a DSL router Prestige 650HW, good product by the way, and I need to set up a remote access solution to an internal UNIX database that runs over telnet. Obviusly, I dont want to open up port 23 to allow unencrypted access for everyone. Nor do I want to set up remote access software like PC Anywhere or Terminal Servies.

Is there any easy to use VPN client that I could get to negotiate an encyrption key with the router (or use Certificate services). OR would it be possible to use the Windows 2000/XP IPsec client to connect to the router.

Any suggestions? Has to be an easy to use solution as the users I am dealing with are bordering on computer illiterate. thanks,

I would like to know if there is any way to see Chinese in Chinese softwares? My english setting are all in English. I know you can change the language setting to Chinese to view softwares that are in Chinese. But I mostly use English softwares. So, it is kinda pointless to change the setting to Chinese since only a few programs I am using are in Chinese. As changing to Chinese setting will also affect fonts in some of the games.
Anyways. here is the problem:
I am able to type Chinese (such as Notepad etc) and I am also able to view Chinese on the webpage.
But, I am not able to see Chinese in softwares that are in Chinese. It will show up messy codse or just ????s marks.

Before I reformated my computer, I was able to see Chinese in Chinese softwares without changing the language setting into English. But after I reformated, I am not able to do it anymore. Can someone please help me out. Thanks a lot!

(P.S. I do not have the installation CD for my desktop (this computer that can't read Chinese in Chinese software. I had to use my laptop's installation CD to reformat the computer.) So, my laptop and desktop both have the same problem: unable to read Chinese in Chinese software.)

Thanks in advance!

A:Unable to see Chinese in Chinese software

If you are running Windows XP ...

Start Menu -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Regional & Language Options

Select the "Languages" tab and make sure there is a checkmark for, "Install files for East Asian languages." I do not recall if you will be prompted for the Windows installation CD.

Uhhg, im about ready to spontaneously combust, and if i was drinker, i probably would have already, considering alcohol would only fuel that process further. But here is the deal (ill start with problem #2 first, since thats more important for me right now).

I have an older pc that im trying to connect to another pc for LAN connectivity, etc. The older one is a Pentium 4, with XP-SP3 on it. The one i use for all my gaming and 'hardcore' stuff, is a Core2 E8400, with XP SP2 on it (didnt want to put XP3 on it, till im done seeing how things run on the other pc, and what apps will/wont work). For about 5 days, i tried connecting my Linksys WUSBF54G Wireless Adapter to the P4, only to be pounded with Code 10's Device Cannot Start until i put it into a different USB port for the 192nd time, and it suddenly decided to work . Of course, now i cant connect to my own router, but thats been going on for ages and i cant seem to fix it. I thought maybe it would suddenly work when i tried it now, but still no luck. It broadcasts fine, shows in the WZC Network Search section on the P4 w/ good signal strength, and i can connect to another unsecured network in my household just fine. I tried my own router with WPA2 encryption, and then without it, but still, it just says CONNECTING and then the window disappears (no error, nothing). Afterwards, when i look at the wireless network monitor in the taskbar, it says 54mb, NO SIGNAL, Wireless Network Connection (ACCESS POINT), but... Read more

I have an interesting problem that has been driving some pretty smart IT guys nuts. To perform my job I have to access a certain venders web pages that has security set up that I do not know all the details of. Anyway on the company PC using the company image that is a normal XP image and maintained by Comp U Com.

Any time I access this vender's web page it works fine until just after the log in screen. Once I put in my user name and password and click Ok IE just goes blank white and that's it. No error msg no nothing, its not locked up as the frame is still there and the world is turning but nothing else.

This happens on all the company PCs accessing this particular vender's web page as I went and checked. So I wanted to see if it the problem was in the PC or the network. I took the company PC home and was able to successfully log into that vender's web page from my cable modem at that house. Worked fine.

I have already added the vender web pages to the trusted zone and enabled all the active X and everything, deleted the cookies, tried some proxies etc. Every setting that can be done on the PC I have tried.

My question is what is the company network security system blocking that IE needs to work and how to resolve?

A:IE blank page problem on company network but works fine off company network

Oh and to add this I loaded FireFox and from the company PC on the company network it logs in fine but FireFox will not display the page correctly and all the buttons do not work right so that is another issue.

I would like to get IE working as that is what these pages were written for

So, here's the problem. Most of the time, DNS client leases should last for an entire day (24 hours) and must update by UDP (right? correct me if i'm wrong), or otherwise the WAN connection gets cut. IE: loses connections to your favorite IM client, the Internet, or anything similar. The problem here is the DNS leases go only through for an hour, and then the connection goes kaput. I've tried Static IP addressing, router reset/reboot, but nothing else came up. And it seems that ONLY the wireless clients get these problems, except for a computer running Windows XP, connected through LAN. The router used here is a Linksys wrt300n router, running DD-WRT (after bricking it due to a failed ROM flash with the last official Linksys firmware issued for v1 models).

The nutshell: An XP client gets a DNS client lease lasting for 24 hours. Checked everything, seems to be running fine. The Vista clients get only a 60 minute lease from the router. Ugh.

Any insights here? If anyone here wants to see my DD-WRT settings, I'll post them as soon as somebody replys here. K?

I?m looking for a Data Recovery company [not a Data Software company] to recover data on my drive that will not spin. Want to spend less than $1000. Please advise.

A:Recommend Data Recovery Company not Data Software Company

Best Data Recovery Company

I have visited many data recovery websites and evaluated their product.

But my experience with one data recovery is almost excellent.

Nucleus Data Recovery, the leading data recovery company having biggest range of professional data recovery software.

Their support is also excellent you drop a email for any help they will respond within 5 minutes.

To recover your data try Kernel Recovery for FAT+NTFS.

The DEMO allows you to preview the recoverable contents and you can check whether the file is recovered correctly or not by double clicking on it.
