Satellite Z930 - Is it possible to reinstall Win8 after its deletion?

Q: Satellite Z930 - Is it possible to reinstall Win8 after its deletion?

Hi,
I bought a computer (Z930, 128 SSD, 6GB RAM) with Windows 8 preinstalled, and I want to remove windows 8 and install windows 7 for which I have the license.
my question is:
1 - is it possible to format completely the hard drive to install a "clean" windows 7
2 - after doing this, will it be possible to reinstall Windows 8 from USB recovery media that I've created.
2 - Is the installation of Windows 7 pose a problem? (about the new UEFI; reconnaissence of hardware ...)

thanks

Preferred Solution: Satellite Z930 - Is it possible to reinstall Win8 after its deletion?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Satellite Z930 - Is it possible to reinstall Win8 after its deletion?

Hi

Last week I tested it on my Satellite U940 and my answers are as follow:
> is it possible to format completely the hard drive to install a "clean" windows 7
Yes.
> after doing this, will it be possible to reinstall Windows 8 from USB recovery media that I've created.
Yes.
> Is the installation of Windows 7 pose a problem? (about the new UEFI; reconnaissence of hardware ...)
Generally speaking no, it is not a problem. Only problem can be installation of some drivers, tools and utilities but I believe you will be able to install it.

> to clarify my question about the reinstallation of Windows 8: if I delete all partitions of my hard disk, will it still possible to use the USB recovery media support that I created?
I have tested it and there was no problem at all.

Before you start to do anything test recovery USB functionality.

Just got the new Satellite Z930 with the 128Gb SSD partitions as follows

450mb recovery partition
260mb EFI system partition*
9.66Gb recovery partition
8Gb Primary partition*
100.76Gb Boot, pagefile, crashdump, primary partition*

Only those marked with * are allowed to be deleted using the windows disk management tool.

I'm assuming the 8Gb partition is the recovery media for a factory restore. I'm planning on creating a USB recovery media of course (9Gbrequired according to the recovery media creator - 16Gb USB recommended). Then delete this partition and extend the main partition.

The questions:

1. Anyone know what the 9.66Gb partition is and why it can't be deleted? Possibly hibernation related, but why 9.66 when there is only 6Gb RAM installed (that would make the hibernation partition 4Gb)

2. What is the EFI partition for?

3. It is curious that if you take away 4Gb (what the hibernation file for 6Gb RAM should be) from the 9.66 the remaining 5.66 and the 8Gb partition are basically the same size as the 13.5Gb primary partition reported here for the portege z930. Why would Toshiba squirrel away part of the recovery media along with the hibernation space?? Any way to recover the full 13.5Gb asmentioned in the portege z930 post?

Thanks in advance

A:Satellite Z930 - question about Win8 SSD partitions

>1. Anyone know what the 9.66Gb partition is and why it can't be deleted? Possibly hibernation related, but why 9.66 when there is only 6Gb RAM installed (that would make the hibernation partition 4Gb)

I assume the 9.66GB partition called recovery partition is created for HDD recovery.
You can recover the notebook using HDD recovery and this does not require the recovery disk or recovery USB memory stick.
But I would not recommend deleting this partition because you would lose the possibility to recover the unit by HDD recovery?

>2. What is the EFI partition for?
EFi partition contains the boot loader program for all operating systems installed (in other partitions) on the HDD. So don?t touch it.

Hi to all,
I want to downgrade my Satellite Z930 from Windows 8 to Windows 7 pro.
Is that possible?
Are there all drivers for Win7?

What do I have to do?
I made 3 System recovery disk (DVD), Can I now start the Downgrade procedure?

TIA

A:Satellite Z930 - Downgrade from Win8 to Win7 Pro possible

It is possible?why not?

For that check this:
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2B03F30002R01.htm

You need to make some necessary changes in BIOS. Disable secure boot and set from UEFI to CSM mode

Look here:

>I made 3 System recovery disk (DVD), Can I now start the Downgrade procedure?
If you made the recovery disk, you will be able to set the notebook back to factory settings.
This allows you to use Win 8 again.

Hello,

I have done the WIN 8 upgrade on a Toshiba L870-156 laptop. The upgrade is OK, but I have no more Toshiba recovery media creator, as the upgrade procedure said that it had to be desinstalled before the upgrade and reinstalled after the upgrade.

I have one big issue : where can I find Toshiba recovery media creator to reinstall it ?

By advance thank you.

A:Upgrade WIN8 on Satellite L870 - Toshiba recovery media creator reinstall

You need to install the Windows 8 version of the Recovery Disc creator. I think it's generic so grab it from the drivers page of one of the new Win8 model notebooks.

Hi

I assume you cannot use them if you have not external CD/DVD drive?

Maybe you could borrow such drive from a friend?

Otherwise try to copy the content of the disk to a USB flash memory stick and then try to boot from the stick.
But to be honest, I?m not quite sure it this would functions.

Perfect, till I tried to make the upgrade. I changed in BIOS to UEFI and secure BOOT, started the computer with first DVD inside the DVD reader and nothing happend.

Then I started to search on the forum and find out that two other guys succeded with the update according to the paper notice of Toshiba (changing the BIOS and secure boot).

What I can do because main does not work.

Please give me an advice.
It is 12Gmodel, Core i5 vPro

A:Win8 upgrade on Portege Z930

*Solved the issue.*

Just do the changes in BIOS.
Restart and wait till you got the message: restore to the factory setting.

Chose this option, put the DVD1 with W8 from Toshiba in the external ODD and follow the onscreen advices. Just one will be, with changing the DVD1 with the second one.

That is it. You have W8.

Hello!

31.Oct.2012 we purchased Portege Z930-G1S (PT234R) - quite an expensive notebook with Win7 Home Premium OS.

We thought we are entitled to Win8 discounted upgrade, but as we entered our data on Microsoft site - they told us we're not entitled.

We tried to reach Toshiba support in Russia - http://ru.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/contact_toshiba.jsp
Several times over a month.

But all the mails are returning with "invalid recepient address" error.

How can it be that official Toshiba support site enlists invalid blacklisted address ?
How can it be that recent and quite expensive Toshiba notebook is not subject to Windows 8 upgrade program ?

Thank you.

Hi

Please check this page how to upgrade to from Win 7 to Win 8:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/generic/windows8-upgrade-stepbystep

The point is that you have to order Windows 8 from Microsoft and install it.
If it fails contact Microsoft why the Win 8 order has failed.

From my knowledge Toshiba provides an Win 8 drivers. You can get this drivers using TOSHIBA Upgrade Assistant but you can do that after Win 8 has been installed!

I found this Toshiba Win 8 Info page about ?Win 8 upgrade?

Hello everyone,

As funny as my question may sound ... it's actually serious!
I have big concerns over battery life (not so much of the one of a single recharge, but the one affecting the "life" of the notebook itself!) because there doesn`t even seem to be a way to COMPLETELY turn this notebook off! This feels like a joke for a notebook advertising with an "eco" label supposed to help reduce wasting natural resources (which was an important part for my purchase decision).

When I hibernate the notebook or turn it off by long-pressing the "Power" button, the LED's indicating battery mode etc. are still on, by that the battery is slightly drained even when the notebook is turned off. While the LED's will of course certainly not use a lot of power, it means that the next time I'm plugging in my computer, +a new recharging cycle is initiated+ which could have been avoided without that. With a battery usually surviving 1000 recharging cycles, this will force me to buy a new battery (by the way: what a shame and how "yesterday" that the battery is built-in and not replaceable by the buyer!) within less than 2 years if I plug off a few times every day.

Alltogether this sounds very much like "planned obsolescence" and I am annoyed by the mere thought supporting something like that. And basically I am very happy with the Z930, so the more I am frustrated by this completely pointless battery drain. Any idea how to turn off the... Read more

I read this blog but I don't understand if there are two slots or one slot...
https://forum.toshiba.eu/showthread....llite-Z930-12Z
2. Could I change the SSD? Is there a maximum GB for SSD for my Ultrabook? Does it matter which SSD I install?

I had these to SSDs:
2.1. Kingston SMS200S3/480G SSD 480GB (6,4 cm (2,5" mSATA)
2.2. Samsung MZ-M5E500BW SSD 500GB (mSATA)

Does it matter which SSD I install??

Thank you in advance!!!

Rebecca Bugday

A:Satellite Z930-12Z - Add RAM and replace SSD

two DIMM slots with 16GB support apparently. You won't need 16GB. Grab a set of 2x4GB Dual channel RAM, i'll leave a link to some good stuff that i use for my 16GB laptop

http://www.ebuyer.com/646124-hyperx-...1779&pkw=&pmt=
Also, yes, of course you can change the SSD, you'll need to get some kind of USB 3.0 to mSATA interface device first and clone the existing disk across, because laptops don't take kindly to fresh windows installs.

Hi everyone,

because my Z830 is more of an A360 the last days than a quiet ultrabook I wanted to broach the annoying noisy fan subjekt again....

Iluminatus23 mentioned in [another thread|http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=271287#271287] that he now uses the new Z930 fan in his Z830 with good results (silence!).
On the internet I wasn't able to find a seller for this fan in Germany. Does anyone of you guys know where I can get this fabulous new fan? Might it even be replaced (for free?) by Toshiba? (warranty & goodwill)

Maybe Iluminatus23 could give us a little more information about the replacement (where he got his fan from / if the replacement was easy / if he is still happy or maybe problems occured later)?

Thanks for your time and hope to get some answers :)

No, as far as I know you can use either the VGA or the HDMI output.

If you want to use two external monitors, I recommend using an external Dynadock device

Hi All

on my Satellite Z930 with keyboard layout set to german (Switzerland), the alt gr key does not allow to access the additional characters (such as @, which would be accessed by alt gr + 2), but instead turns all keys into hot keys (e.g. typing n would open a new web browser window).

Does anyone know about this behavior and how to turn this behavior off? (it's rather annoying to change the layout always to en-us just to type one char ...)

Many thanks!

Beat

A:Satellite Z930 - ALT GR key changes keyboard to hot keys

Similar is with English UK and US where symbols ? and @ are n different positions.

You must simply test which key combination works properly. I have EN UK keyboard and when I switch it to German (Switcerland) symbol @ I can get if I use ALT GR+2 key combination.

Does it works on your Satellite too?

Hello,

Here is my problem (sorry for my english) :

I have a Toshiba Satellite Z930 15X.

For several weeks, it is very very slow. Whether eco or normal mode, it is even slower than eco mode. *Even without any program running*. When I look at the task manager, everything is ok and fluid.

Is that a hardware problem ?
I also noticed that the fan runs much more often than the first few months of use, even with just a word document open.

The only solution I've found is to restart the computer.
After each reboot it is fast as normal, but only for a short time. But at one time or another, the extreme slowness often returns after a suspend.

*I also noticed that it often occurs after a suspend or after connecting / disconnecting the laptop from the AC outlet.*

(I specify that I have just a few programs installed and have no trace of viruses and other malicious software (I'm very careful about that).)

Did you have this problem, where does it come from, what can i do ?

Thank you !

A:Extreme slowness on my Satellite Z930-15X

Hello

On this virtual way it is not easy to say what exact reason is. To be honest I don't think there is some hardware problem. Fact is that many background processes may slow down notebook?s performance. Maybe some background downloads and update installation can be reason that your notebook react pretty slow.

Check please start-up and disable all useless applications. If you don't use some of them they must not start with Windows and run in the background. Check also Windows update option. Disable automatic update.

Do it please as first steps and check if the notebook runs a bit faster.
Please post some feedback.

Hi,

I've a problem with my Z930-164 : The battery loose around 8% every 12 hours while it is off.

I've the latest bios (6.80) and the latests drivers. I'm with windows 7 64 bits.

By trying many things, I've founded that it is the option : "Sleep and Charge" in the bios. By default it is on Auto mode (1.5 A), there is a 2.0A mode too. If I turn it off, the battery only loose 1% every 12 hours while it is off.

In default mode, why it does not power the USB while sleeping ONLY if there is a device ? Not to drain the battery !

It is a huge problem no ?

null

A:Satellite Z930 : Battery is drained while off

The enabled Sleep & Charge function affects the battery working time.
Sleep & Charge allows to charge external connected devices (like smartphone) even if the notebook is in sleep mode.

Furthermore enabled ?Wakeup? options (Wake up on LAN, etc..) which are available in BIOS would lead to battery discharging.
Therefore disable these options if you don?t want to discharge the battery.

A:Keyboard replacement on Satellite Z930

I don?t know what the problem is with your keyboard but I presume that this new notebook model has valid warranty so I strongly recommend you to contact nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. If keyboard is defective they should exchange it for free.

The whole situation with hardware parts is pretty complicated. I don?t know where do you live and I cannot search whole web to find right link for you and you can do this alone. Google a bit around and check if you can find some online store in your country where you can order it.

Replacement?
Theoretically you can do this but I don?t think you should do this alone. Notebook disassembling can be pretty complicated and without maintenance manuals very risky. Small mistake and you can damage something, especially small plastic parts and plastic holders.

Contact nearest Toshiba service, talk with them and ask for some help or good advice.

So I bought a 2nd hand Z930 (with no back-up drivers/software) and when setting my password I checked the box to replicate the password for the HDD.

Yes, the HDD password does not affect new HDDs or SSD drives? but only the HDD which was connected to the notebook while the password has been set.

Hi

Windows 7 Professional SP1

I'm new to forums so please forgive me if I don't give enough information! I have two issues with my Portege Z930 that have been bugging me for months, if not longer. The first, and more longstanding issue is with the touchpad. Every so often it disables itself for no reason, and without warning. I quickly learned to press Function F9 and it comes back on again.

However, recently it was becoming more and more common (every couple of minutes) which led me to reinstall back to factory settings. Since then, it has been disabling a lot less frequently (once every few hours) but it still does it!

The other issue is with the device disconnect sound. This keeps on playing regardless of whether I have anything connected or not.
It was driving me crazy until I learned I could simply disable the sound effect which I have done (but clearly this is not a solution).
was hoping that this would be cleared up by the restoring of Window 7 to factory settings but if anything, its been worse since.

This has been going on for a few months now and I have tried everything I've read (although I'm not that tech literate so I may not have understood a lot of what I've read!).

I've looked in event viewer but there doesn't seem to be a record of anything happening when the noise occurs. In device manager, the screen does seem to refresh shortly after the noise but there's no way of knowing which device is causing ... Read more

I am new to this so please don't shoot me down if this is a dumb question. I have just bought a new Z930 ultrabook. The advertised storage space was 125GB (although the C drive is only showing 100GB available). I have only installed MS Office Standard 2007, Norton anti virus, and printer drivers.

However, I now only have 65GB of disk space left and I don't think these applications take up 35GB. I have removed shadow copies of everything.
Can anyone give me some advice please?

A:Question about disk space on Satellite Z930

Unfortunately we cannot see exact info of the HDD but maybe you saw something wrong.
Check please ?Disk management? in ?Computer management? options and there you can see all basic info about HDD and each HDD partition.

I can imagine that this 35GB is total amount on data saved on certain partition that includes OS and all preinstalled stuff.

A bit of background: I recently purchased a Win7 build of a Z930 in Auckland from the PB Tech storefront. I have upgraded to a clean build of Win8 64-bit. My Win8 seems to running ok but I noticed something strange in the Toshiba PC Health Monitor -- apparently the Toshiba HDD/SSD Alert isn't installed, so I don't get its iconic display in the Health Monitor (but the Health Monitor thinks my SSD is in "Good" shape -- perhaps it's reading the SMART interface of my SSD, or perhaps it's just saying "Good" because the Health Monitor is apparently able to run???)

I can easily find various versions of the Toshiba HDD/SSD Alert Utility in dodgy-download websites, but I would really prefer to get my drivers from Toshiba support. Which leads to my question:

Where can I get the appropriate drivers for PT23LA-01P009? Neither the NZ nor the AU webarea of Toshiba Support have this model in their drop down menus. The closest match seems to be

http://www.mytoshiba.co.nz/support/computers/ultrabook/satellite-z930/pt23la-01f00n/download?os=30

There's probably not a lot of difference between a PT23LA-01F and a PT23LA-01P but it's a bit of a worry to be downloading & installing drivers for a chip that doesn't exist in my model...

Cheers,
Clark

> Where can I get the appropriate drivers for PT23LA-01P009?

First of all the Toshiba notebooks series (Australian, European, etc?) are very similar to each other?
Your Australian notebook model Satellite Z930 *PT23LA* series is the same series like the European model Satellite Z930 *PT23LE* series.

Therefore the drivers, tools and utilities released for Satellite Z930 *PT23LE* series should be compatible with the Satellite Z930 *PT23LA* series.

To get all the drivers for Satellite Z930 *PT23LE* you should check this page:
http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU

There you can get all Win 8 - upgrade drivers. Also the HDD/SSD Alert Utility v3.1.64.14

I our new Satellite Z930 was only 219Gb of 256 Gb SSD free.
The reason is, that there are 4 more partitions.

First two with about 200 and 400 MB could be usefull for Drivers and so, but the last two are 10Gb and 8 Gb. Only third Partition is "normal" and is iniliazed (as C:).

The question - can I delete one of four "useless" partitions?

A:Satellite Z930 - 4 hidden partitions on SSD can I delete them?

The partitions are not ?useless?. There are always reasons for such partitions.

First of all one partition is designed for Toshiba HDD recovery (it must be one of the bigger partitions 10/8GB). This is needed in order to recover the notebook to factory settings without the usage of recovery disk. However, the recovery disk should be created always.

It could be possible that the recovery folder/partitions would be muddled up and in such case the HDD recovery would not be possible. I?m not quite sure about the other partition but I would keep it on the SSD drive too.

The other smaller partitions are created automatically by Windows system. One contains repair files which are used for system repair. As I?m not mistaken the other one is essential partition for faster reboot.
Since Windows 8 does not completely shut down by default but goes in hybrid shutdown/mode.

Hi to everyone, I've got a problem with my satellite z930. The wifi is not working well, the connection is not stable and it comes off by itself. Therefore when i try to share my notebook with some bluethoot reciver (headsets or speacker) the connection is not stable again and for example in this case when i try to listen music the audio of a song is fragmented. It is possible that it depends by the same problem? Like the network card or something like this? Thank you!

Hi guys,

Just wondering if there is a service manual that would show me, or if anyone knows from experience, how to open a Satellite Z930 and upgrade the SSD. I know this will void my warranty but I don't care; Toshiba MobileCare won't have anything to do with it and I don't want to pay an arm and a leg for something I could do myself if I just knew how to remove the back cover!

I've removed all the bottom screws but the cover still won't come off...it seems to be stuck at the back-left corner. I'm guessing there's another screw under the keyboard or something...any help would be very much appreciated! :)

A:Instructions for opening a Satellite Z930 and upgrading the SSD

There are no 'secret' screws as far as I know.

But the question is, do you know the Z930 uses a small mSATA SSD which currently max out at 256GB?
You cannot install a standard 2.5" SSD.

I forgot my password for my z930. I bought the laptop from a market, it was working fine then I put a password on it. And now I have forgotten the password.

I heard there is a response code that I can get, there was a shift tab thing I did which let me enter a response code, I was told to clal toshiba and then would give me a code to reset it.

Is this true?

A:Forgot startup password for my Satellite Z930

It is not so simply as you think. If BIOS password must be reset it must be done by authorized service and you must also prove that your notebook belongs to you.
As far as I know there are different techniques for BIOS password removal. I don?t know which one will be used for your notebook but fact is that they will not tell you this so simply at phone or mail.
You must bring your notebook to the service.

Call nearest service and ask for help. They will explain you how it works.

Dear Toshiba Team,

last year I implement a new SSD and more RAM in my Satellite Z930-12Z. After installing Windows 10 updates my notebook doesn't start anymore. I got the error message: The BCD is missing (Error Code: 0xc0000034). I tried some things to fix it, but nothing works. I also should tell you that the CPU in the last weeks was always on 100 % and the Notebook was very noisy. I think the SSD is damaged. I copied all my data with Linux and implement a new SSD (500 GB).

I want to install a new Win 10 (not clone the original Toshiba SSD) but this fails always at the end (at the last step of the installation after "install updates) of the installation with the following error message "die startkonfiguration des computers konnte nicht aktualisiert werden". In BIOS the following settings are set: BIOS: UEFI, Secure Boot Mode: Eneabled. I can upload screenshots of the bios if required.

Did anybody has an idea why and what I have to do to install a new Win 10? After more than 5 hours failed attempt I tried to clone the original SSD and this also failed after 5 % (Clone tool: Samsung Data Migriation). I don't understand what the problem is.

I would be very pleased if somebody can help me!

Regards,
Rebecca

Hi there,

I have a Satellite Z930 which has been working perfectly for years. I have recently downloaded and installed Windows 10 and as soon as I did, I keep getting Low Computer Memory warnings, the laptop runs slow and I need to shut it down and re-start it. I have installed all updates and I only ever have windows mail and (one) web browser open, yet the problem persists. I have used 75 of 103GB of storage, not sure how relevant that is.

Any help would be appreciated, I'm at wits end.

Chris

A:Satellite Z930 - Low Memory after installing Windows 10

Dear Chris,
I bet for Toshiba support being able to help you it would be necessary to know the exact version of the Z930 (e.g. Z930-16K) that you have, especially how much memory (RAM) is currently installed.

Regards
Flow

Thanks

A:Need Win7 WLAN driver for my Satellite Z930

Hi

What Satellite Z930-xxx do you have exactly?
From my knowledge the units were equipped with three different WLan modules; Intel, Atheros or Realtek are possible? so would be useful to know the model number?

Also the USB drivers are available on the Toshiba EU driver page.
I guess you did not install the USB 3.0 driver and therefore the unknown USB device appears in device manager.

Windows 10 latest update installiert.
Ultrabook Toshiba Satellite Z930-130 (4-5 years old)
new OEM battery replaced the old one.

followed the recommendation in internet:
take out the
battery de-install the battery driver
built in battery
restart.

both with old and new battery.

both are not charging anymore. (old battery had before at least a runtime of 30-60 min)
now nothing......

I have seen that in the same time new updates have been installed. (14 Jan and later)

any idea what I can do? de-install the updates?

thanks in advance for your help

Hi,

just a question about the fan of my new Satellite Z930-130 with Win8.

Actually you cannot hear the fan eg. with pdf files
but when you watch a video on youtube, the fan starts and 2min later it stops

Is this normal?

Thanks

A:Satellite Z930 - fan notice while flash e.g. YouTube

Of course it is normal. At the moment when you want to watch video more graphic card performance is needed and this increase hardware temperature. The sensors on the mainboard notice this and cooling fan will be activated.

It?s nothing unusual.

Dear all,

Sattelite Z series laptops cannot install OS (win 8.1) from our SCCM 2012 R2 environment.

Either no installation is starting, or pxe boot aborted error is showed.
The environment is used to successfully install OS (win 8.1) on different other vendor computers (dell) and virtual machines (hyper-v and vmware).

I've tried both UEFI and CMS boot options and tried to switch off the secure boot. Please advice.

Also, i've read about the "SCCM installation package for Toshiba". Will it help in my situation or is it just driver packages for SCCM?

Best Regards, Evgeny.

A:Satellite Z930-14F - cannot install Win 8.1 from SCCM 2012 R2 environment

I guess you are speaking about this Toshiba package:
http://www.toshiba.eu/services/on-demand/business-computing/sdp120gs-v/

I don?t have much experience using such SCCM drive package but it definitely compatible with the Toshiba business notebooks. The Satellite / Portege Z930 belong to the business range and I think the package should be compatible.
This package seems to be for all IT administrators who manage devices on the corporate network with SCCM 2012 R2. Toshiba offers with the new Toshiba SCCM package a solution to integrate other notebook into an existing IT infrastructure quickly and smoothly and all Toshiba Driver and application packages and a demonstration task sequence are integrated.

However, it seems that you could get more details about this package directly from Toshiba [email protected]

By the way: The Win 8.1 installation requires the UEFI mode (in case the UEFI BIOS is available). But booting from another, external source requires the disabled secure boot option.
So maybe you should use the UEFI mode but should disable the secure boot option in order to boot from LAN.

Hello,

I have a Satellite Z930 which I would like to open in order to replace the original SSD with one having a higher capacity.

The thread http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=279122
was very helpful.
But my PC has a SIM card slot on the right side (side opposite to the microphone and the headphone)

Even after taking off all the 14 screws (including the torx one right in the center), the back cover can not be lifted up on the side of the SIM card slot. Something is holding it back.

Has anyone in the community already succeeded in removing the back cover for this confiuration ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

A:Instructions for opening a Satellite Z930 with a slot for SIM card

Did you manage to remove the cover?

There is no other method to remove the cover? if your notebook is equipped with SIM card, remove firstly the SD card (bridge media dummy card), then SIM card (you will need to insert a slender object into the hole of the sim tray) and then the 14 screws from the cover at the bottom of the unit.

That?s all?

Hi,

I've bought my Toshiba Satellite Z930 more than a year ago. I quickly realise than I didn't had much network possibilities than before with older windows such as the possibility to create a wifi network. Never more...

And recently I had an update on my internet Box allowing me to use the "Play To" system of windows. GREAT ! I tried to use it but it didn't work. I first thought that it was my box that was malfunctioning but with another PC it works well !!

So I'm starting to wonder if their is a network issue on my computer ? Or maybe, is the windows installed version is a light one ?

Does anyone knows anything about it ?

A:Windows 8.1 "PlayTo" protocol issues with Satellite Z930-12Q

Your posting is confusing.

You are talking about ?light? Windows 8 system. I don?t know what you mean by ?light? but the notebook was preinstalled with common Windows 8 64bit and this fully functional system.

You are talking about networking problems? I?m wondering if you really have some network problems or you have no experience using Win 8.

If Win 8 is a little bit confusing, I would recommend checking the Microsoft Windows FAQ/HowTo pages about Win 8 and new Win 8.1

Yes, the Win 8.1 has been already released by MS and I would recommend you to update the Win 8 to Win 8.1 since it was improved by MS.
The upgrade can be done for free.

Check this Toshiba page:
