I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Wasnt sure if this was suppose to be in the network or the games forum.

I am having trouble connecting to certain people on xbox live. I am aware of NAT Types. My NAT type is currently set to Open using a linksys wireless router. My friend actually lives in a hotel at the moment, and his NAT type is set to Moderate. The way he gets his xbox on the internet is by running an ethernet cord from his laptop straight to his xbox. His laptop gets internet from the hotel's wireless.

Any suggestions here? Even though he is in a hotel at the moment, we were still having this same problem when he lived in his own house.

He has no problem connecting to anybody else other than me. Some of the other people he is connecting to are running a ethernet cord straight from their wall to their xbox, but im not sure what their NAT type is. Why can he connect to them and not me when my NAT type is Open?

So I guess you are trying to stream media and such. Depending on the version of OS you are running you may have to give rights for the xbox to talk over network. Such as in Windows 7 sharing and advance options go to meadia sharing and allow the Xbox to be seen by everyone. What are you trying to accomplish fully?

How does Xbox Live work with 8? I was hoping I could play my Xbox games on it but it's looking like I will have to buy the console. Is there something I have to download/install before I can play my Xbox Games on PC? Or is Xbox Live for 8 just a dashboard where you can manage your Xbox Live Subscription?

A:[SOLVED] 8 With Xbox Live

As of right now, as far as I know, they will not be supporting playing Xbox discs on PC. They are offering Xbox DLC for play on the PC though... I haven't had much time to mess around with the Xbox applications in Windows 8 yet though... You can go to Xbox.com (I think) and download the app... I will try and look further into it when I get home.

IT should be compitable with xbox 360 because there are no drivers needed for connecting a broadband modem.

Hello everyone. I currently have a Netgear wireless G router for my internet, as well as a Belkin Basic Wireless N adapter for my PC. I own an xbox, so when I try to play online, I just connect a ethernet cable from my router to the xbox. Whenever I try to play and someone is surfing the internet on my PC, I usually get this insane amount of lag. Its to the point where I would get dropped out of matches or it would be really slow. I ask if the person is downloading anything, but they usually aren't; it's just them surfing Facebook or watching something on YouTube. Even when the person stops surfing the internet, I'll still get some type of lag when I play.

There's one solution I found were if I completely removed the adapter from the PC, my connection to Xbox Live would be perfect; absolutely no lag. Shouldn't there be some type of solution where I can be able to play online without having to make everyone else not use the computer?

I tried researching this on other sites, but none of them got to the point. I simply want to know what is the best modem to use for xbox live on the 360 with a DSL connection. (I can't get cable where I live) The company I'm considering going with is earthlink, unless someone knows of a better DSL ISP for xbox live, one that serves in central illinois.

A:Solved: Best modem for xbox live?

You likely aren't going to want a Modem for XBOX LIVE.

Instead, pick up the modem that likely will come with your subscription to DSL, and buy a router that has the little XBOX LIVE logo on it.

Any router really should work, but lets be on the safe side.

I have this weird problem. I have three Windows XP computers and none of them are able to go online, but if i connect my xbox directly to my internet it does work and i can play on xbox live.

Here is some more information:
1) I know its not my computers that are the problem because i can pickup other wireless networks.

2) right now Im trying to connect directly to the internet through the modem without my router, but its still now working.

3) I noticed that when i try to connect my router it does let me go on the setup page but i cant go anywhere else from there, i cant browse other pages in other words.

4) things that i have done recently that might be the problem are that i tried to setup a workgroup for all of my computers and also i upgraded my routers firmware.

A:Solved: Cant go online, but i can go on xbox live.

Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

Name of your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
Make and exact model of the broadband modem.
Make and exact model and hardware version of the router (if a separate unit).
Model numbers can usually be obtained from the label on the device.
Connection type, wired or wireless.
If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2)
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP (Home or Pro), SP1-SP2-SP3, Vista (Home, Business, Ultimate), etc.
The Internet Browser in use, IE, Firefox, Opera, etc.

Please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages.

If you're using a wireless connection, have you tried a direct connection with a cable to see if that changes the symptoms?
For wireless issues, have you disabled all encryption on the router to see if you can connect that way?
Have you connected directly to the broadband modem to see if this is a router or modem/ISP issue?
If there are other computers on the same network, are they experiencing the same issue, or do they function normally?

Having just purchased a new computer and set up my Talk Talk router, I am having serious issues setting up Outlook Express. I have everything set up as per google mail help centre instructions other than incoming mail server (POP3) which is set as mail.talktalk.net. I can receive E Mails but not send. Everytime I attempt to send I receive the following error:

I had AVG free edition installed by the manufacturer of the computer prior to receiving it. As a computing novice I am unsure if this a possible problem; could it be?

A:Solved: Outlook Express and Talk Talk

AVG could be a potenial problem if it is scanning emails.
Some have problems right from the start others don't have
any for months and then suddenly do. Email scanning is
not necessary.

At the very least turn the scanning off. The best
solution is to uninstall AVG and see if you can install
using the custom installation. At that point choose to
leave out the email scanning.

For the gmail account information.
Try these settings first and see if they work - no Talk Talk settings.
These are US settings, if you are in the UK or elsewhere,
check the gmail for your area to make sure these are the ports used.
It appears you used Port 25 and that is the cause of that error.

Modified Xbox Consoles Banned From Xbox Live
(November 11 & 12, 2009)

In an attempt to combat piracy, Microsoft is permanently banning modified Xbox consoles from accessing Xbox Live. The ban also applies to gamers who have played games downloaded in violation of copyright laws. The ban will affect between 600,000 and one million players.

Users can recover their online profiles if they purchase another console. The plan raises concerns because it is the console rather than the player that is banned, so the people who purchase the devices second hand could find themselves unable to access Xbox live.

I've just recently obtained this router, after my last suddenly broke, and it works just fine except when I try to connect to Xbox Live.
I have my Xbox 360 connected to my laptop via ethernet cable and have the laptop's wireless connection shared. This setup worked fine with my previous router.
I followed this guide to try and configure the router: http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Netgear/DG834G/Xbox_Live_360.htm
And still no joy.
I've also noticed that when I plug the ethernet cable into the laptop (when the Xbox is on), or turn on the Xbox whilst the cable is connected, the laptop loses its connection to the internet yet retains its connection to the router.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

So here I am again with more Xbox Live related problems, this time when both me and my brother are playing online.

Our setup is like this-v

-Sagecom 4300 connected to RangeMax Wireless-N 150 Router WPN824N (Location: Upstairs in my room)

-My Xbox is connected via Ethernet Cable (Location: Same room as router)

-My brothers Xbox is connected via wireless about 8 or so feet from the router, through two walls, but still receives 5 bar connection.

-Both of us have a laptop which we never have active while online, so that doesn't matter.

-Last, we have a Desktop downstairs which is connected via a Wireless D-Link connecter which is a good 20+ Feet (4 bar connection) from the router.

Now, the problem is, lately we've both had games released that we want to play alot, namely Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3, and when we both play it seems his connection is flawless and I lag like crazy to the point that it usually becomes unplayable. Earlier today when my dad went to use the Desktop I was basically kicked off Live (Couldn't join any games, or friends parties) and my NAT was forced to Strict which made it even worse. So my question is, is there a way we can improve the connections so we can both play online? The actual connection we have is Windstream High Speed with 12 Mbps.

Hi all, if anyone can help much appreciated.
My current set up is that there are 2 PC's,one downstairs and new one in my room which i bought and my xbox 360. The downstairs PC has the router, a D-link 2.4 wireless router, which is the main one and my room has a D-link Dwl-810 to read from it for connections. Before I got my PC in my room my xbox 360 connectionhas no problem, but now I seem to have a bit of problem staying connected for first time. When I have been using my PC with xbox turned off, after surfing net, I turn PC off, disconnect cable in back of PC and put it into xbox, turn xbox on and everything works fine, then about 3-4 mins later I get disconnected from Xbox live, and the only way to re-connect is to powercycle the downstairs main router and then I can connect again. This also happens when its the other way round, after using the xbox first and then going to PC, same thing, have to powercycle to get connection to work again. Is there anyway around this problem, like I said before I got my PC in my room I had no problems connecting to xbox live but now I do,also the connection for both seems to drop after couple of hours of so and powercycle needs to be done again, its annoyingto having to keep going downstairs and powercycling, also the downstairs PC works fine and doesn't lose connection at all even when PC in my room/xbox does.

Recently, I purchased a new router. It is a Netgear WNR2000v2. The issues is NAT restriction on the XBox Live. I gave the XBox a static IP. Port Forwarded ports 53,80, 88 & 3074 for that IP. I tried putting it in a DMz, that didn't work. Have tried to turn off the firewall to see if that was blocking it, found out that wasn't the issue. Plugged the Xbox directly into the modem and had no NAT restrictions. So I know it's somehow connected to the router

I know I had port forwarded on the old router and it worked great, and wasn't hard to do. But for some reason I can't get it to work on this one. Not sure if I'm missing a step or something else. Previously when I did it, I had Windows XP and now I have Windows 7.

Hi guys I have just been reading up on a post that was on here a while ago regarding someone not being able to connect to Xbox Live with his new Belkin N+ router now i have a Belkin N router and have had similar problems with it either not connecting or not being able to join mates games/parties and after a lot of time with Xbox and Belkin (neither knew the problem) i found out after a lot of messing about what to do and i hope to be of services to others by posting this.

First of all you will need to be able to login to your router setup page online...the normal ip address for belkin is sometimes this can be different and you can find out how to check your ip address on youtube...oh and each step that you do please Apply changes before moving on as the router cants update all the changes in one go

Once logged into your router there are a few things we need to do... First is to look on the left hand side of the screen and locate the "firewall" link once the page has loaded you will want to Enable the firewall.

Next you will need to turn on you xbox and go to System settings, network settings then configure network to find out what IP Adress your xbox is on...I set mine up manually so the ip address for my xbox will never change ... again can see how to do this on youtube... write down or keep a mental note of this address YOU WILL NEED THIS.

Next open the "virtual servers" which is under the firewall link this is where we are going to open... Read more

It hsould say it in the product manual for your router type at netgear.com. If you changed it from the default then your going to have to reset it if you don't remember it.

I've been researching this for the past 3 hours and trying all different kinds of crap to try and get this to work.. Absolutely NOTHING has worked and I'm about to kick something.. Anyway.. How do I do this? I know it said port forwarding but I have no clue what that means? I have absolutely zero experience with Wireless Routers so don't expect me to understand much.. Lol. I do know how to log in and edit the settings and everything though.

I have a Netgear WPN824N Wireless Router which is connected to my Windstream Speedstream 4200 Broadband Router. The connection to my Xbox 360 is a wired one. There are also other devices using the connection simultaneously. My brothers Xbox 360 Kinect is using wireless as well as this Dell Inspiron Laptop.

Things I've tried:

I also changed the NAT to Open under WAN Setup on the Router but this hasn't done anything.
I tried forwarding the ports from my default gateway that did nothing.
I changed the Wired connection port to a static one and forwarded those, nothing.
I tried forwarding the Router inner IP address, nothing.
Tried forwarding the Xbox inner IP, nothing.
Tried changing the Xbox connection settings to its own IP and set the gateway to my wired connection static IP. Then forwarded the new wired connections static IP, nothing happened.

NOTE: When I first installed it the NAT was open and when I just had my Windstream Router it was always open. It wasn't until (not sure exactly) I logged into the R... Read more

I have the original Xbox 360 model that doesn't have the built in wireless adapter. To connect to LIVE, I'd like to do what I usually do and connect the ethernet cord to my laptop and my Xbox and bridge the connections; however, this method seems to fail recently, and I'm not sure why. I've tried internet sharing connections, but this causes my connection to lag really badly, and I'd rather fix the bridge than try to share the internet between both devices.

The Xbox says I have an IP address Error preventing me from connecting to the network. I've tried troubleshooting on www.xbox.com and reinstalling the LAN/ethernet drivers to no avail. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit on a Dell Inspiron n5110. The Xbox and laptop are both setup to automatically assign IP and DNS addresses.

Here is the output for ipconfig in command prompt for the connections without the network bridge or ethernet cord connected:
Windows IP Configuration
Ethernet adapter Network Bridge:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : home.network

Hello all! New member here with a new problem.

I bought a Xbox specifically just so I can play with my brother on different games via Xbox live. The first month was great, it worked well and we never got disconnected or lag. After that month... randomly Xbox live would disconnect out of the blue. After a week, it started were it disconnects every 15 minutes.

So after trying to fix it for 4 months, I still have had no luck. My router is a Linksys BEFW11S4 V4. I see no option to turn on UPNP. If anyone could please help me with this......... that would be awesome.

Thanks all!

EDIT: I forgot to say this also happens with Windows Live. Singing into that while my brother is on the Xbox still disconnects us.

A:My Xbox 360 will not conect to my laptop for xbox live

It would be better to connect the XBOX directly to the router (if possible)

Make sure that the laptop is connected to the wireless.

Go to Control Panel and open Network Connections.

Right-click on the wireless connection and choose properties.

Click the Advanced tab check the box to Allow other network users to connect

through this computer's internet connection

In the dropdown menu select Local Area Connection

The problem is when Im playing online after a late shift at work when I get home and feel like relaxing a bit, but I always get disconnected around 3:30am and it is basically like clockwork.

I have some information from the router[LOGS] but I dont want to post it just incase someone can use it for something,(I dont know what I should and shouldnt post for security reasons) I trust you guys but its just the other people Im not so sure about. If you can only allow trusted members to see it I will post it. 'paranoia'

Anyway, when im on a game playing all of a sudden at the time mentioned I get tons of lag, right before being kicked out of the game, then I get disconnected from xbox live, when I troubleshoot it usually says one of these two troubleshooting message everytime, i.e Your DNS server cannot resolve the names of Xbox Live, or your MTU should be 1428 or higher(which it is). The disconnect lasts for about 5-10 minutes and it disconnects everything for close to 10 minutes.

Please reply ASAP
