I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Is there some place that I can search to see if windows files/commands are legitimate? I have Zone Alarm and it has programs on it trying to access the Internet that I do not recognize.
Examples: xpsplhtm.exe; OOBE\msoobe.exe; net.exe (System 32); self-extracting cabinets (Software Distribution Downloads)
Parentheses are where the files are according to Zone Alarm.

Another one was: Microsoft Out of Bounds.

Please help! I have Windows XP Home Edition with all updates. I have ZoneAlarm free and McAffee AntiVirus. Nothing has been detected.

Aaaaargh!Click to expand...

I use Fireworks 8 - should be similar in other versions

In Fireworks-
Go to Edit menu > Keyboard Shortcuts...
The top dialog box is "Current Set"
Drop down menu should offer option to reset standard Macromedia shortcuts to Photoshop shortcuts

Worth a try anyway...

Hey, I need some help with a .bat program.

I need to code a script that will copy all the files in a certain directory and paste them to another specified directory.

So for example, the user will be prompted with the .bat file asking what the full path to the directory of the files are. Then it will copy all the files in that directory and paste them into C:\directory_name_here.

Thanks in advance.

A:.BAT Commands

Hey, i think something like this will do it:

Code:
@ECHO OFF
rem Prompt for the directory
set /p theDirectory="Please type the name of the directory: "
rem if it doesnt exist jump to the error
IF NOT EXIST %theDirectory% GOTO NOTFOUND
rem else copy the files
copy %theDirectory%\* C:\directory_name_here\
rem and output a nice message
ECHO Files copied from %theDirectory% to C:\directory_name_here
rem goto the end of the file(skipping the error)
GOTO END
:NOTFOUND
ECHO The directory %theDirectory% could not be found
:END
pause
if you don't want to leave the files in the source directory(the one the user enters) then change "copy" to "move".

Cheers,
Jamey

I remember (ages since I used XP) one cause of that happenning was that an index.dat file was missing from here: C:\WINDOWS\\PCHEALTH\\HELPCTR\\OfflineCache\\ index.dat

Some cleanup utilities can be the reason for that happening.
I fixed it by copying index.dat file from the same folder on another XP computer, then putting the copy into my folder.

Okay, I am not sure where to post this. Is anyone familiar with MedQuest...medical transcribing?
Well, they use WordPerfect, and their own stuff to. My question is this. My friend does this, and their is a part where she is to do a 'runlog' command. It runs in DOS. This process should only take a few seconds, but hers drags on. Is runlog a WordPerfect command. The tech guy she is talking to said to do a write command. That too, hung. Doesn't that open the text editor? She had recently upgrades to W98. He is telling her to reconfigure her hard drive. But, I told her that is drastic...typical tech support solutions. I am trying to isolate what these commands are, and what would be a better path to take. If they are related to WordPerfcet, could a reinstall of that help. When I do a 'write' command on my machine, it opens WordPad. Anything I can do to fix this?
Thanks.

Hey all, just made another topic which is relevant to this topic.

I downloaded Vista from MSDNAA, the software Microsft supplied to download and unpack products your down from isn't working what so ever.

The format of the file for the operating system you download is ".SDC" which then the software decrypts and unpacks into ".ISO". the software is constantly stuck on the CRC check and i have left it for 24 hours + and still hasnt moved 1 bar. I have found a program online that has to be executed via Command prompt.

Here is the link (http://imagi.pl/?p=7) to the website; i jus need help in finding what commands i need to use to use this program properly. I can load the program but have no idea in how to use it to unpack the file.

Please could someone give me the right guidelines to sort this out, be a life saver.
Thanks

What OS will you be installing on the formatted drive?

If it's XP, you just put in the CD and reboot. The XP install will come up and one of the options will be to wipe the current partition and reinstall Windows. If you're reinstalling 2000, I'm not sure what the procedure is as I've never used it before, although I would guess that it'd be similar to XP.

However, as i expected, the whole school soon found out and they (the teachers) have totally disabled NetMeeting on most PCs. I found a wa y to get into DOS, and I was wondering if there was a way i could send messgaes or chat to another computer. I know the exact names of every computer, but i was wondering if there was a command which would allow me to do that?

just a few questions.. how do you make visual basic copy a file??? cuz i wanna make it so when you click on a command button, it copys a file to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM and copies the original file to C:\ and runs an external program. please help

A:VB commands

Ok, here is an example:

Private Sub Command1_Click()
'Copy the original from \Windows\System32
FileCopy "c:\windows\system32\MyFile.txt" "c:\MyFile.txt"
'Copy new version
FileCopy "c:\MyFolder\MyFile.txt" "c:\windows\system32\MyFile.txt"
'Run the executable
Shell "c:\MyFolder\MyApplication.exe",vbNormalFocus
End Sub

This uses the standard FileCopy command in VB to perform the copies and then the shell function to run the executable.

Hope this helps.

Hey everyone,

Is it possible to get the script jump-started in PHP? And PHP execute these commands?

Now I know PHP may not be the best option, but I just wanted to see if there is a better way to group the commands and possibly execute them at once. Possibly without having to login to SSH. Python script?

Php can run linux commands.

Why not just use a shell or bash script though? You could even set up a cronjob for it so it will run hourly/weekly/etc, or set it to run when you ssh in by adding it to your .bashrc file. Or you can have it set to run when your computer boots...

I currently have everything setup and working on my FTP site at work. What I have now is several directories with specific permissions for several different users to gain access only to specific directories. Also, they can not see any of the other directories because I gave all of them the +H attribute.
I would like to know if I access my FTP from command line or any other means, is there a command to list the attributes of all direcories at the root of my FTP and -H to these directories or even to list hidden directories. I'm hoping there is NOT. I've looked online for FTP commands, but most are for only the basic one's and they do not get into much detail and the ? command within FTP only gives you the basic commands. Im not overly concerned about listing the directories, because each directory still has specific permissions set for their respective user.
Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I am troubleshooting a siituation for a customer and i am not sure of the corect syntax.

The problem is that there is this medical software install on a laptop at a doctor's office that creates ECG files for patients after their vitals are taken. The software is suppossed to import this patient data to a mapped drive which points to a server that is off site.

Periodically, these laptops will loose connection to these mapped drives. I have fully updated this XP laptop with the latest service packs, but every once in a while, the mapped drives are lost and the application fails and they loose this patient data.

I have a batch file that will recreate these mapped drives and what I would like to do is when they click the application to launch the software, it will first recreate the mapped drives and then launch the application.

Is it possible to do this with the existing icon for the medical software?

Here are the Properties of the medical software icon:

Target:"C:\Program Files\Midmark Diagnostics Group\IQiCv6.0\IQiCIf.exe" -go

Start IN: "C:\Program Files\Midmark Diagnostics Group\IQiCv6.0"

I would like to run a batch file first "nw.bat" and then the application above and use the same icon for the application.

A:Two commands, one icon

Correct me if i am wrong, but couldnt you just add the command to start the program to the end of the batch file.
For example, i just tried out a simple batch containing the following :

net use p: \\fileserver\public
c:\"program files"\zune\zune.exe
When i ran the batch, it mapped my drive, then once that finished, it started the zune software. I would assume you could do this for any software.

give it a go adding the target to the end of the batch script. I think it would work.

You can use a shell command and run just about any exe program. Or you could use the winsock. If everyone is on the same subnet, you could use UDP or if not, then you can use TCP/IP. Microsoft web site shows all of the steps to do both.

I have a program here in the office that I use UDP since we are on the same subnet. I have it set that they put information into an access database, and rather me check it every day, I use the UDP which plays a wav on my computer to alert me that some on just submitted something into my database.

The example on Microsoft, shows a type of instant messanger, where one person types into a window on someone elses computer..
