I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Please continue to check this forum post in order to ensure we get your system completely clean. We do not want to clean you part-way up, only to have the system re-infect itself. If for any reason you cannot complete instructions within that time, that's fine, just put a post here so that I know you're still here. Hi there,my name is Marius and I will assist you with your malware related problems. Before we move on, please read the following points carefully. First, read my instructions completely. If there is anything that you do not understand kindly ask before proceeding. Perform everything in the correct order. Sometimes one step requires the previous one. If you have any problems while following my instructions, Stop there and tell me the exact nature of your problem. Do not run any other scans without instruction or add/remove software unless I tell you to do so. This would change the output of our tools and could be confusing for me. Post all logfiles as a reply rather than as an attachment unless I specifically ask you. If you can not post all logfiles in one reply, feel free to use more posts. If I don't hear from you within 3 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed. Stay with me. I will give you some advice about prevention after the cleanup process. Absence of symptoms does not always mean the computer is clean. My first language is not english. So please do not use slang or idioms. It could be hard for me to read. Hello im having problems making my computer run at normal speed. It has been running slow for awhile now but recently VERY SLOW. It takes forever to boot up and any program I open also takes an eternity. Once the program is running it works fine.
I have scanned the computer w/ norton, malwarebytes anti-malware and spybot.
I removed all the harmful files. Spybot seemed to make it run slower.
In the task manager the CPU usage is at 100%. There are about 80 processes when I boot up the system.(seems like a lot)
I uninstalled a bunch of programs I never use to free up some more space and I also tried restoring it to an earlier date.
I gave it the newest updates for windows.
I deleted all the programs I dont need from the start up.
Today I tried running Malwarebytes' anti-malware today and it TIMED OUT!! taskmanager said program was unresponsive.
I'm not sure where to go from here. Do I have to wipe my hard drive??? Please help!!! It is a Sony VAIO laptop.

A:My slow lagging computer

<<I removed all the harmful files.>>

That seems to always be a presumption...by those who get infected. Of course, it's not necessarily true but users seem to like to say/believe it.

I guess that I have to ask...was your system infected?

Any error messages during this troubled period?

I'm not sure what's been happening lately, but my laptop has been running kind of laggy and slow. My specs are as follows:

Windows XP SP2
Intel Pentium M
1.60Ghz
1.12GB RAM
30GB HD (19.1GB Free)
Software: Avast! AV, Comodo Firewall

I initially thought that my computer would only slow after I started Trillian, but I tested this (by not starting Trillian), and it seems it will still slow a few minutes after a restart. Restarting my laptop seems to solve this problem temporarily.

I have run the following programs to test out any problems, but they all come back clean:

Chkdsk
Defrag
Avast virus scan
Spybot S&D
Lavasoft Ad-Aware

Keeping it in safe mode (I'm posting in Safe Mode w/ Networking right now) seems to also keep the problem at bay.

Help?

Thanks!

Hi,

My computer seems to be running slow! So annoying, especially lagging when i'm watching clips or editing. I actually have 1GB of RAM so i'm just wondering if i'm running too many programs because surely that should be sufficient for what i do. I usually fill up my HD actually, but even after getting the space back it still seems slower then it should be. I do a lot of movie editorial work so i need the space!

My Computer Specs:

AMD Athlon XP
950 Mhz, 1.00 GB of RAM
(Partitioned HDs)
Z:/ 120GB
C:/ 40GB

In my HiJack log i see a lot of Panda Antivirus stuff, but i don't use this program anymore and i've uninstalled it, yet there are still bits of it on my computer it seems...

Let's remove Panda completely first to see if it alleviates the problem. Make sure you install another antivirus program back though because as of now, you have no antivirus program running...

Download this file and save it on your desktop. Double click on it to run it and follow the directions...that should uninstall Panda completely.

Hello,

I am trying to help out my mother on her computer and considering you guys helped me out on mine, I figured I should come back.

Anyways, the problem with this computer is it has a lot of junk files, folders and things on it, yet I am not sure which files and folders are needed and which are not. Along with that problem, we have the bad lag. Sometimes it takes quite a few minutes to load Windows itself as well as programs.

My mother runs a eBay business and enjoys downloading games and music, so I know that is some cause of the slowing down of her computer.

Attatched is a Hijack This log.

Thank you in advance.

First of all I'm blaming it all on ram since this computer only has 256mb. But anyways it used to be a lot faster (by a lot faster I mean it didn't take 10 minutes to boot up and load everything). I would understand it if I installed a lot of things, but the thing is I barely installed anything and even at that, I didn't install any high memory consuming programs, all I have is basically a kodak program, avast and some hp software. So out of the 40gb I still have like 33 free.

I have scanned with every program I thought off and find no adware/virus/trojans etc. But I still feel there's something not right.

Can anyone tell me if this Hijack log has anything strange. On other news the comp doesn't have the dvd rom installed either. It's not installed in the hardware manager and it obviously doesn't show on the "My computer" tab. It was working when the comp. came out the package, so that's another reason i'm suspecting something gone wrong. Tried deleteling the upper and lower filters and still no dvd rom recognition. I'm going to run a Registry cleaning tool... any recommendations on this?.

So anyway:

Hello

My computer has been running very slow lately and lagging when i I am watching videos on youtube. I looked at the programs I'm running in task manager and saw that something called svchost.exe has been taking up the most memory (40000 or so) when everyhting else is around 20000. Anyways, I ran a DDS scan and a GMER scan. But while running the GMER scan, I got a BSOD saying that a file "pxpdakod.sys" was the problem. Here is my DDS scan:

Hi guys,

I've recently bought a Dell Inspiron 15 (7548) which has i7-5500U, 16gb RAM, AMD Radeon R7 M265 4GB.

Problem I'm having is that the laptop is laggy and sometimes freezes.

I've noticed the disk usage sits at 100% most of the time.

I've just upgraded it to windows 10 in the hope that windows 8 was causing the issue but it has stayed the same.

Any help with this (as it makes the laptop slower than my 5 year old laptop which I replaced) would be greatly receieved!

Thanks!

Hi,

Below is the HJT Log, could someone please review this. Most of the downloaded programs (O16) on my log are not showing up on my add/remove list. The only program that I still use is Ofoto. If they are not showing up on my add/remove list, then how can I remove these from my computer?

Also, on my add/remove list there is a "BUM" ... I'm not sure what this is and have not seen it on there before. Could someone tell me what this is and if I should remove it?

My computer runs extreme slow and I end up rebooting two/three times an hour. Sometimes there is a lag every few minutes. Most of the time when I reboot my computer I lose my internet connection and need to unplug my cable modem and if that doesn't work, then I reboot again till I get my connection back.

If there is additional information needed, please let me know.

Thank you for your help.
Lisa

Whenever I connect external monitor or TV via HDMI the computer is slow/lagging (even moving windows or doing a right click is slow).I tried to isolate the problem and it seems to happen only when I use "Second screen only" or when the laptop lid is closes, if the lid is open and I use "Extend" or "Duplicate" everything's fine. Also, if I do reset while the monitor is still connected, it's working ok (but this is not a good solution for me as I want to keep the work evniornment).I tried playing with Display settings but nothing seems to help, maybe the community can please help me?

Hello,I recently installed software that apparently contains malware. My computer's symptoms include a little slow on startup, after use of more than 30 minutes the computer becomes extremely slow at doing anything (looking at My Computer in Windows Explorer takes 5 minutes), it freezes (especially Firefox and Windows Explorer) and, in one incident, the computer failed to wake up from sleep mode (lights reactivated but screen was "off" [not black, "off"], no response, repeated attempts to wake it up failed). I have since uninstalled the software to see if it would make a difference, and it has gotten better, but I'd like to make sure that there is no residual malware left over - or if I have spoken too soon.Attached is the Attach.txt and Ark.txt that is required by the preparational page. Hi, my friend is having some problems with her laptop and I haven't been able to help.

XP takes about 7-8 minutes to load and when it has loaded it is slow and laggy when trying to run anything. CPU usage is jumping to between 30 and 50% every 5-10 seconds. The processes doing this are all HP system tray processes and it varies which one jumps in CPU usage.

I was wondering if anyone has any advice on what may be causing this and how we can fix it. I have attached the hijackthis log from her laptop.

Thanks, Harry.

I recently upgraded my Windows Vista home premium (64 bit) to Windows 7 home premium (64bit). Now everything takes forever to load (run) if it even loads at all. The CPU itself is only running at 15% when I can get task manager to load but the memory usage is at 66% (3 gigs).

I'm currently running a Gateway FX6800-01
Core i7-920
3GB of DDR3
Radeon HD 4850
Creative?s X-Fi XtremeGamer sound

I'm not sure what to do... BTW Safe Mode works fine.. aside from not being able to update anything properly.

Hi JustBob286,

Did you run Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor before upgrading? It would have alerted you to any hardware compatibility issues or failures to meet system requirements.

Type "WEI" in the Start Menu search field and click "Check Windows Experience Index." Tell us what your scores are.

Cheers,

Walker

EDIT: I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess it's your 3 GB RAM. 64-bit Windows 7 is designed to run optimally with 4 GB or more: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...sked-questions

I am completely stumped as to why videos tend to lag & freeze my screen for 10 second intervals, aswell as cause my browser to freeze with a busy icon. I've tried everything I know to do with no progress. I've tried numerous different browsers with no luck, scanning for viruses/spyware/malware, cleaned history, temp & cookies...aswell as disabling firewalls, cycling my router/modem & making sure all of my drivers are up to date. My computer should handle everything just fine.

Specs:

System Manufacturer: BIOSTAR
Processor: AMD Phenom IIx4 905se (4 CPUs) 2.5GHz
Memory: 8 Gigabytes of Corsair DDR3
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6670
Storage: 60 Gigabyte Corsair Nova (Solid State) with 25 Gigs free aswell as a 500 Gigabyte Toshiba external with 375 Gigabytes free
My old computer (which is now my wifes) has half the specs of my current, is setup for wireless & runs everything just fine. My pc is hardwired & I am running Windows 7 (64 Bit)

A:Slow loading videos & lagging

Run Error Checker on the system hard drive.
Defragment the system hard drive.
Test the system hard drive with manufacturer's diagnostic utility. Links are here: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287

You may want to test the RAM modules as well (you need to make a CD for doing that) with Memtest86: http://www.memtest.org/

hi

my computer has become quite slow, and i randomly have an error box pop up then disapear. it doesn't say anything, it just appears in the tool bar. Sometimes the pics in websites don't show up, and my cable isp has slowed down. It takes a while for my computer to start up lately, and i've run ewido anti malware in safe mode. It hasn't really helped at all. I've run it twice in a week, and it has the same number of infected files. I'm including a HJT. Some programs that i've tried to remove using the Add and Remove tool won't remove itself from the list. Also, there is something in my list of programs called I.R.I.S. OCR registration. I don't remember downloading this, and i'm afraid to register because i don't know what it is.

thanks!

I have an old W500 Lenovo Thinkpad running Windows 7, Service pack 1. I have 4 GB of RAM. This machine was running well until lately, when virtually all typing is lagging, selection by clicking and double clicking doesn't seem to work right, and even selecting by dragging the cursor doesn't work well.

I've run scans using Avira and Spybot in safe mode. Check disk, sfc, defrag, etc. Still nothing. I don't think it was software or hardware that I added, since I really haven't added anything much during this time.

Suggestions for my next step, please?

Hi guys. I'm new to this forum and to Win 7.
Finally updated my 6 year old Acer Aspire laptop (AMD turon 64 x 2, 2 Gig ram, XP Media Centre) with a HP DV7-5005TX (I7-2720 2.2g, 8 gig DDR3, ATI Radeon HD6570 Graphics with 1 gig Ram & 2TB HD).
It was preloaded with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit which installed without a hitch.
I then installed all Windows updates and some necessary programs (Firefox, Thunderbird, Cad, Graphic design, Office 2007, ZoneAlarm, AVG) and tried it out. - Painfully slow in all areas like it had to consider everything I asked of it B4 it would start reacting.
Did a registry clean & fix, defrag - a little better but not much.
Tried a change of antivirus (incase that was slowing it up) - No better.
Installed Winoptimiser 8 and set everything for peak performance which improved things a little further bit still not great - My old Acer still runs rings around this thing!
It boots up in ok time but the actual operations are 'jagged', like when typing in browser display stalls for a few seconds then catches up. Scrolling down a window does the same. Some basic programs can take half a minute to even open a window, let alone set up.
Surely Win 7 can't be this slow and painfull. What am I missing?
Cheers for any help.

Hello Welcome To SevenForums
=>~This My Opinion~<=
1.Please Just Install One AV Because they are fighting each other for their Real Time Shields. But I Suggest To Install MSE ( Microsoft Security Essential ) or Just Uninstall Your AVG Because I used ZoneAlarm For A year and it's cool.
2. This Is My Suggestion Too Use ASC ( Advance System Care ) I Used It Until Now And It is Good In Tweaking.
3. Please Change Your Motherboard If Possible Because your motherboard might not supporting your new
Hardwares

That's All Thank You . Please Add Some Rep Those Who Help You

Hi there,

I thought I had always been pretty diligent about cleaning my computer and keeping AVG and Malware bytes up to date and using them regularly. What I have noticed is that I *think* I have a lot of processes running and I have been noticing some lagging and slowness in my system. If anyone had some input or suggestions for me based on my HT log, I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

Here is my HT log after startup:

Run a good virus scanner, like MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, to verify you don't have something nasty dragging it down.

IE 7 is running extremely slow and lagging. I have had this problem in January and had adware/spyware problem. About three weeks ago I had vundo virus with numerous popups, but between Norton Vundo Fix and the Panda Scan which claimed to fix the virus I had no further problems until about two days ago when my IE started acting up and the processes reporting that I am using 282,000k just to run IE. I ran the Panda Scan and did the DSS Scannner. Here are the logs
