Lenovo G50-30 Bios update crashed installed win 7

Q: Lenovo G50-30 Bios update crashed installed win 7

Just purchased a G50-30 with win 7 x64. Decided to update the BIOS A7CN40WWW_64 from Lenovo website. The notebook version was A7CN23WW. Upon reboot, after successful BIOS update, Win 7 booted with errors of Repair option or Normal boot up. Even re-installation of Win 7 will yield BSOD - ACPI non compliant. Have changed BIOS settings defaults from UEFI to Legacy, it still does not work. This BIOS version is not stable. Please help / advise ? Can i request for the earlier version of BIOS ?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have managed to resolve the Win7 installation issues by the following settings in the BIOS setup (F2) : a) Boot Mode/Priority - set to Legacy over UEFIb) USB Mode - set to 2.0 and not 3.0 Case resolved.

I have been looking for a way to contact Lenovo via email about my computer issues. I had a not too old (Apr 2014) Lenovo Desktop Aio B550. When I bought it, it had Windows 8, and had an update to 8.1 right away. Then there was an update to Windows 10, I did that too. there was no major issues. I barely used the computer, mainly for email, browsing, etc, no gamming. In 2016 there was another update for Windows 10, but this one would get stuck at 32%, some posts here at the time said to leave it overnight, then saw posts that said to unplug all devices, do this and do that, I did and it still froze at 32% every time. after 6 months of this I was getting tired, I did not want this update at all, and found out this is not an update it is a whole new operating system. I could not shut off my computer without it forcing me to do an update, I wondered if this was a small update or the big update. I contacted Microsoft for help in March 2017. I had many different answers and explanations from them. First MS remote access my computer and downloaded the Media Creation Tool. I told them that this computer is not that old and has no programs downloaded, just what came with the computer new. MS did the update and it had to do a reboot so MS disconnected and the reboot went on and then it came back with an error: OxC1900101-Ox30018 the installation failed in the first_BOOT phase w/ an error during syprep operation. I contacted MS again via chat and remote access. I attempted to update my drivers for graphics card and the machine crashed. I attempted to update these drivers because I got a blue screen shutdown whilst playing a game. Now I can't get past the black loading screen? It all started with the following message. Your hardware settings have changed please reboot your computer.  I have attempted to update the BIOS previously but this also doesn't work. Is my machine broken? How can I fix it myself without sending it back to the shop? Thank you.

Hi there, I'm new to the boards so sorry if this has already been asked. I searched the boards but there were a lot of results and none exactly the same as mine. Due to the nature of my problem, I thought I'd make a post. Basically I've got an ASUS M2N-E motherboard and something went wrong when I tried to update the BIOS in Windows (stupid way to do it as I've realised ).

I was updating my BIOS in Windows using the ASUS Update utility that was on the disc supplied with the motherboard. I closed all programs down, and ran update from internet. I clicked next to begin the flash but the update utility closed. A while later, a program called winflash.exe crashed, which I'm assuming is related to the update utility.

After that, I couldn't open the update utility again. Error boxes with random symbols were appearing, so I uninstalled it and downloaded the newer one off the ASUS website. Now it won't even let me install that.

Some "ASUS BIOSINFO.DLL" box pops up but again the message is just a bunch of random symbols. I click OK and then it says "No ASUS motherboard, installation will now be aborted."

I've read that restarting your computer during a failed flash will result in a busted motherboard, which I obviously don't want and I don't think a System Restore is going to cut it. So what can I do now?

Is there any way for me to find out if it is safe to restart my computer or will I have to find a differe... Read more

Now when I try to power on, it beeps once every two seconds or so and won't boot up. I've tried removing the batteries to reset the BIOS but it does nothing. The only other thing I've seen out there is to replace the motherboard, but I'd rather about that. It's there anything else I can try? I am way of it warranty so this is a diy job. I got this PC about 6 months ago as a refurb from Woot.com. It ran great and has only been used for emails/fantasy football for me and youtube/roblox for my son. I didnt change anything internal and its completely stock. Ive really enjoyed the HP updater thing because I remember on my old PC how much of a pain it was to search graphics card updates and stuff. Last Wednesday it gave me an exclamation point that there was a new update. It said it was for the bios and gave no additional instructions. It ended up freezing on this screen https://imgur.com/gallery/5eZuS and eventually crashed. Since then nothing works. The power button does nothing. I have a light on the back of the power supply that it is receiving power but nothing happens when I hit the button. I was looking at this link which makes it appear that crashing during a bios update can happen but all the solutions involve getting it to boot to the bios and I cannot do that. http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01368145 Does anyone have a suggestion on how to fix? I am really hoping I do not have to replace the motherboard. Sorry so long and thank you for reading.

Hello,
I recently tried to update the BIOS of my Vostro 5480, but the update froze in the end. I waited 1 hour but Windows was still frozen, so I decided to turn off by holding the power button.
Now I can't boot anything else, as it will always goes to the BIOS screen with the message below, it waits 5 seconds and then reboots itself.

Unfortunately, it's not under warranty anymore.
I searched Google for solutions, but none helped me. I got the latest BIOS file (can't find old ones), and tried putting the files inside a flash drive (.exe, .hdr and .rom files) with some random and suggested names, but I couldn't get it right.
Is there anything else that I can try?
Thank you in advance

I failed in updating the BIOS as per Acer's instructions, and now I have a bricked PC.

I'm trying to restore the original BIOS, but not having any luck. The PC boots, I hear two beeps - one short one long, and then it hangs. The power cycles to the devices & the fan, but it doesn't do anything. I tried it with the BIOS jumpers set both at 1-2 and 2-3. No luck.

What are the key strokes I need to press to force BIOS reset? Or am I toast with this MB?

A:Acer Aspire X1301 BIOS update crashed

Hello gerry and welcome . Mate how old is the machine mate? cos if you have bricked it as you think you have you maybe up for a new one but.....

The other thing is why did you try updating the BIOS? and was this the one you tried updating from Acer Support: Downloads & Support Documents - Desktop / Aspire / Aspire X1301

There are plenty of Googles for that problem and from what I have come across two beeps usually refers to some things in the RAM here are some refs
Computer POST and beep codes

What I would try myself first is to remove the battery lave it for a good hour or so - I have had some IBM jobs that required longer - replace with a new one, reseat the RAM and try again.

I'll keep scratching round in the meantime. Found this if it is of any help but I still think the battery change will narrow it down a bit

I have a Qosmio F50-10Z and as prompted by toshiba I downloaded the Bios update and began to install.
My screensaver came on and the whole thing crashed.

Would not turn off (even after holding down power button for 15 secs).
Took battery out and then put it back in. Computer powers on but screen is blank and won't boot up.

Tried to take it apart to flash the bios by taking out rtc/cmos battery (whatever it's called) but can't find the battery and got to the point where I wasn't willing to take it apart any further (has no-one else ever taken one apart?

Couldn't find information or diagram or photo of where the battery was on net...manual for laptop really unhelpful)

Have found comments about crisis disks but I don't know what this means.

So, how to I reset bios?

Please help - you are my only hope.

Hello Mates,

My Asus G75VW was offline for 2 weeks and when it came back on there were 8 Windows updates to be done. Picked some of them>restart. There was this typical ~configuring~ message that went for 20 min or so. I thought it's frozen so I rebooted it manually. And than... nothing. Black screen. I can't access BIOS, Windows wont start either.

I tried generic reset with holding the power button but it failed.
I tried to boot from repair disk- nothing.

Any ideas?

Hello everyone! I ama new user and i am coming up with this post as I couldn`t find any kind of solution for my problem.Recently I decided to do a reinstallation of my operating system, which also previously was Windows 7 Ultimate (x64). The installation went as usual, and after finishing it I went on to install all the latest drivers from the Lenovo site, for my product. When getting close to installing almost all the drivers i`ve needed, i stumbled upon a new version of the BIOS amnd the drivers and sfotware recommended for my laptop, by the producer. So i proceeded to install the upgrade, restarted the computer when it prompted me to do so, but after the so-called restart the laptop did not boot up as usual. At first it was telling me to not do anything as the BIOS is being flashed and then it was telling me something about some sort of image processing, things that i did not understand at the time (i have never encountered anything like that). After that my screen turned black. I have not done anything for a few couple of minutes as i thought it was supposed to be like that, but then i just force shut it down and unplugged the AC adapter. When trying to boot it all up again, the only thing i got was a black screen and nothing else. After doing a little bit of research it appears that, somehowm i`ve managed to corrupt the bios on my laptop or something, and nothing else would work at this point. Did you unplug the laptop and remove the battery before holding the start button of 30 seconds? I suspect you have some other problem. A windows update cannot change bios, and the computer should post and give access to bios, even if there is no hard drive installed.

hi mahdhir2005,

Im sorry to hear that.

I would suggest you call the Lenovo Technical Team regarding the Issue. If it is the BIOS that's causing the issue then there maybe no source or option to have it fixed without they're help or service.

If the BIOS software you downloaded was from a legit Lenovo Site and correct model, then I think It will be ok to Just report them what happened and ask for possible option.

Hope this helped

The support website officially publish any certified BIOS intended for your machine.
Best to use your serial number to get ones specific for your machine.

If you do not have any issue , it would be best to keep the current ones and simply load its default if needed.

First of all I want to say that I am extremely disappointed with the experience I had with my Lenovo. After I bought it I found out that Lenovo, for some reason, disabled the Turbo Boost option of the CPU. I tried to fix it by entering the BIOS but the options there were limited, so I decided to update the BIOS. I downloaded the BIOS update for 64-bit windows(i am running windows 8 which is compatible with the said update utillity). I ran the .exe and followed all the instructions (did not shut-down restart or anything my computer). After installing it automatically restarted and a Lenovo logo prompted on the screen followed by ">>Start PXE over IPv6, Press [ESC] to EXIT..." after that "EFI Network 0 for IPv6(numbers and letters) boot failed". Then ">>Start PXE over IPv4" which failed and a blue box poped saying "Default Boot Device Missing or Boot Failed. Insert Recovery Media and Hit any ket then select boot manager to choose a new boot device or to boot recovery media". Pressed ok and got me to Boot Manager screen. Boot option Menu had only EFI Network 0 for IPv6 and EFI Network 0 for IPv4". What should I do?Note that I tried to start up both with and without the ethernet cable in.

I decided to downgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) because the laptop came loaded with spyware such as Superfish and I prefer Windows 7. I first created a system image of the computer for safety and then i rebooted with the Windows 7 CD. I had to delete all of the partitions in order to install Windows 7. The installation was a success and I started updating all of the drivers for my model based on the Windows 7 64 bit OS that I got from Lenovo's website. All drivers except 2 worked which said it required an update. I then flashed my BIOS with the version that I downloaded from Lenovo's website thinking that this might solve my problems. After the BIOS was flashed I received an error that this was the wrong BIOS.Now I get the following errors: Default boot device missing or boot failedInsert recovery media and hit any keyThen select boot manager to choose a new boot device or to boot recovery media This then present me to the boot option menu with the following option only listed:efi pxe network I have inserted the DVD that I used to install Windows 7, however, it is not being recognized or loading since the only option is efi pxe network. I get the following error: EFI Network 0 for IPv4 (MAC Addresss inside here) boot failedWhen I click OK it then says checking media before presenting me to the same screen My original BIOS version is B0CN40WWThe ... Reset the BIOS to default before you do anything else.

Unplug AC adapter (remove from notebook).
Remove main battery
Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds (power drain)
Replace main battery
Replace AC adapter (plug into wall then notebook)

This should reset the BIOS to factory defaults, but you should enter the BIOS to make sure your boot order has been changed to indicate your choice of booting (DVD, HDD).  I would also turn off network boot (disable) as you should not need that option for Windows 7, 8 or 10 to work correctly.

Good luck.

Hello! My wifi stoped working and I updated all drivers and it didn't work. Then for the last thing I've updated the bios from 9acn28ww to 9acn32ww from the site. It went OK, but now that I try to acess the setup I'm prompted by a system password I didn't set earlier, it was empty. It came with Windows 8 installed, but I was using Windows 7 with MBR partition and now I can't configure to Legacy and nothing... Is there any default password like "password" ? Thanks in advance!

I've got an old thinkcentre (M51 series) and I need to update its bios to make it usable for my purposes. The problem I've run into is that I have no way to access the download, as Lenovo has removed the page containing it. It still appears on google and is listed as http://support.lenovo.com/en/downloads/ds013759, but nothing appears when I open the page. I looked at the product support, and there is no way that I could find to contact Lenovo from there about the page being missing. If anyone might happen to know how I could directly ask a Lenovo employee or if anyone has a link to download the file, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi! I updated my Lenovo T430u's BIOS from version 2.11 to 2.13 this morning and everything is slow since. I mean: sloooow. I had a functionnal dual boot Windows 10/Linux Mint but now Linux Mint takes around 3 minutes to boot. It took 25 seconds before. I figured it was related to the disk so I did the memory and disk diagnostics but everything seems ok. Even booting from USB/DVD is slow. I tried restoring default settings from BIOS, putting the battery in maintenance mode, removing the battery and even disconnecting the CMOS backup battery for an hour. I then tried to downgrade the BIOS but it does not seem like an option. This would probably fix my problem since everything was ok at version 2.11.I am really out of solution here! Please help, my computer is not usable in this state :/ Julien

It looks a lot like this problem:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-T400-T500-and-newer-T/T500-takes-15-minutes-to-boot-after-bios... The only thing is that I don't have an "Intel AMT" option to disable in the BIOS :/ Help!

I found this procedure on a lenovo forum. Give it a shot and see if it works for you. If not, it is not worth putting money into fixing this laptop.. New ones are pretty cheap and having a new mb installed in this one will cost more than a new laptop.

BTW the spelling errors are from the forum NOT mine.

Bios recovery procedure

How to Recover a bad or brick bios in lenovo laptops:

1.Download Phoenix Wincrisis then Click on the WINCRIS.exe and choose CREATE MINIDOS CRISIS DISK and press START to make: USB Flopy or usb flash memory.
When creating the boot Floppy or usb memory, select from Folder Options to view the hiden and system files and delete or rename the file config.sys if present.
2. Download your Bios file from lenovo.com if u dont have it, Rename your BIOS file to bios.wph and copy it to your: USB Floppy/usb memory.
3.Plug USB Floppy/usb memory into laptop and shotdown.
4. Hold down Fn+R keys and while holding press the power button.
5. Now you should hear the flopy drive working or usb blinking, hold the keys for a while.
6. Leave the computer for few min. and if the computer does not restart it self turn the power down.
7. if everything went OK the computer shold start normally.
