I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a windows 7 msi laptop that until recently has had no issues.
The past several weeks however, Internet Explorer closes unexpectedly multiple times when I am online. Also, I cannot open PDF files and Adobe Reader will not reinstall. iTunes won't open, and pictures won't open when I double-click them.

No error messages have shown up...the programs simply just do not open. I have the latest version of iTunes, and I am unable to download any version of a PDF file reader, but I previously had Nuance.

I have NO CLUE what to do or how to begin trying to resolve this issue, and most of my work files are PDF so this is becoming a huge problem...please help.

A:Internet Explorer closes unexpectedly, Adobe Reader won't open, iTunes won't open....

Hello and welcome to TSF,
The first step would be to try a different browser and see if your online problems keeps happening. If you are a hardcore IE fan, see if there is an update for it. As far as your pictures and files are concerned, it might need a simple solution like Disk Defrag. Many people overlook this, but hey it works! You can also do a Disk Cleanup (also built into Windows) which clears some unnecessary junk.
Good Luck!

I've uninstalled internet explorer, try to install acrobat then metro type box opens, asks "No apps are installed to open this type of link (res). Look for an app in the Store." Click link and Store recommends Fileview Pro 2015 but I can't find install button.

Dont know what res is, how do I stop skype from asking similar metro box question. How to stop constant cycling of open and close on internet explorer if I do install again. And can't install acrobat reader because it cannot execute this res link.

I was checking the Internet Explorer default security settings for the different zones. I haven't changed anything and mine are showing Protected Mode is Enabled for the Internet and Restricted zones.
But Protected Mode is set to Off for Local Intranet and Trusted sites. Are these settings the correct defaults?
I have read on some sites that Protected Mode is set to be Enabled by default for all the zones except the Trusted zone or was this with older versions of Internet Explorer?
Im not even sure what a Local Intranet is!! Im just accessing the Internet using a single PC from home and my computer is using the Private Network setting

I hope this helps somewhat

Okay this is driving me up the wall. I bought a new laptop a few weeks ago, and it originally came with IE8. I started to have trouble with it, everyday it would randomly act up and not load web pages for me. Ex. amazon.com, tvshowsondvd.com, and cdbaby.com.

Google worked just fine. But I would try to go to some of these sites and my browser would literally freeze. And it's always these websites! But only certain times of the day, it's not always constant! The webpage loads partially and then just hangs, as if it can't load the rest of the page. The browser will not let me open another tab and I am forced to end the process.

I got fed up, uninstalled IE8 and downloaded IE9. Guess what, IE9 does the exact same thing with the exact same webpages. What is going on? I'm getting really frustrated with this. I tried the same web pages with Google Chrome and they work absolutely just fine.

A:Internet Explorer Will Not Open Web Pages, Freezes

So I uninstalled Adobe Flash Player, on a whim, and now my browser works fine, no more freezing. But I need flash player to use YouTube and such. Any suggestions? Maybe just a clean install?

Any one got any ideas for solving this problem?

Both computers on XP Home and IE 7

A:Solved: Internet Explorer cannot open web pages

Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

Make and model of the broadband modem.
Make and model of the router.
Connection type, wired or wireless.
If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2)
Make/model of network card or wireless adapter.
Make/model of your computer (motherboard if home-built).
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP-Home (or XP-Pro), SP2, Vista, etc.

Let's also see this for the failing computer.

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Earlier, I tried to open one of my PDFs with Acrobat 10... nothing. Thinking I hadn't actually clicked the PDF correctly, I tried again. Then a few more times (the software variant of "percussive maintenance"). Finally I tried simply opening Acrobat itself, thinking there was something wrong with the file associations. Nothing. I open up task manager to find that when I try to launch Acrobat, acrobat.exe pops up for a brief moment, and then disappears. There are no error dialogs or anything, the application simply closes immediately.

So, I try opening the PDF in Firefox using file://drive:/path/. Nothing, again. No problem opening the containing folder (on an external hard drive), but clicking the link to the file results in nothing happening. Open with Adobe Reader X? It works perfectly, of course!

This is a recent install of Acrobat X Professional (exactly 1 week, today) on Windows 7 Home Premium. This is a fresh install, not an upgrade. The PDF is over 2 years old (not that other PDFs work, mind you). Acrobat worked when I tested it after installing, so something has changed, I just don't know what.

Any help would be appreciated! :)

Hello, I have a user who has a Dell 650 Workstation, 2GB RAM, Windows XP SP2. He can open multiple sessions of Adobe, but the second and any others takes who knows how long to completely open. In browsing thru the tech forum came across the Adobe Acrobat 9.0 slow issue, gave it a try. He says if he opens a second session without any special treatment, he gets a PDF which is like starting to open, but it does not go all the way. It stops with the Windows frames up, and he can still 'see' the first pdf thru the second window. BUT, if he minimizes the first PDF, then opens the second it works fine, opens relatively quickly. He has Adobe Acrobat version 9.0.2, will he gain anything by upgrading? Reasons for this behavior?

A:Adobe Acrobat slow to open

It would be a resources issue not a Adobe Reader issue. Depending on how many resources are already in use including processes. If there is a lot of processes running that could be the reason. Also health of the hard drive, remaining RAM available, and CPU.

Hi,
I've got this annoying problem, which I've tried to patiently deal with with my Verizon Tech Support guy, but like usual, it came out without any substantial result.

Here is the problem:
A desktop and a laptop, both running xp; a westell versalink dsl modem;
both machines can ping with site names, ie www.google.com
can ping with ip addresses
and return with 0% LOSS
checked:
1. browsers are not "work offline"
2. tried turning off my firewall, but the same results
3. tried turning off antivirus (Avest)
4. is obtaining ip address and DNS server address automatically

But whenever trying to access websites through browsers, it would be kept loading, and the status bar would say: "website found, waiting for reply" (something like that...)

Tried to work with Safe Mode with Networking, nothing still nothing worked.

Reset the modem, and tried to connect again.
The problem remains.

Phoned up a neighbor and tried to use his wireless connection on my laptop. Everything works with his connection. But not mine.

Then the Tech Support guy told me that he has consult with a network engineer and their solution is that, it should not be my machines, not their fault (who knows), not my account... it appears to be my dsl modem. According to him, it seems to be that the modem is malfunctioning and that it cannot convert network messages into webpages... And his suggestion is to replace my modem.

But when I hung up. I was thinking about what he said, an... Read more

I've been using dual screens at my office for some years now. After installing Windows 7 Pro x64 last fall, I was pleased to find that for the most part, program windows would open in the same place and same size and on the same monitor as they were on when I last closed them.

Some weeks ago, I started having issues with a PDF file opening in Acrobat 8 Standard on my right screen (where I want it), but then any subsequent PDF file opened while the first one was open would go to the left screen (NOT what I want).

Now, as of about 2 weeks ago, after installing a new nVIDIA Quadro FX 580 graphics card and replacing the left display with a Dell Ultrasharp 24" display, ALL PDF files open on my left screen. This is completely annoying because I do most of my work on my left display (the 24") and I need PDF documents to open on the right.

Someone posted a tip one time about moving a program window where you want it, maximize it, restore it, then maximize it again, and close it, and it should remember the location. This has worked for the most part, but not for Acrobat.

Any ideas? I am NOT running the nVIDIA nView software because it was causing graphics issues with some other software I use. I used to use it to force certain programs to open on certain displays, but for the most part Win7 keeps stuff where I want it without needing nView. Acrobat is the main one giving me trouble, and it seemed to start some time after installing the new graphics card and display... Read more

A:Adobe Acrobat won't open on right screen anymore!

I posted this in General because I wasn't sure if this was more of a graphics-related issue, or software, or something else.

I was not using Aero before the new graphics card, and now I am, so not sure if that could have any effect on Acrobat always opening on the left display.

Also the left display is connected via DisplayPort and the right display is connected via DVI.

I installed Adobe Acrobat about 2-3 weeks ago as part of a CreativeSuite package. I have yet to use it. However, just last night, when I tried to open a folder full of pictures on my desktop, for some reason, it attempted to install Adobe Acrobat. I cancelled the installation (acrobat was already installed) and the folder opened. I've tried some experiments now and it seems like every time I try to open a REGULAR FOLDER or a COMPRESSED FOLDER (ARCHIVE) ... ON MY DESKTOP ONLY, my computer attempts to install adobe acrobat. When I hit cancel the folder finally opens. I haven't waited to see what would happen if I let the computer install it cause I just spent hours cleaning my hard drive so my windows installation is sparkling and I don't want to mess that up w/ 2 copies of acrobat.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm pretty clueless on what's causing this to happen...maybe its a messed up registry value?

When the computer wakes up after an overnight rest (was it sleeping or hibernating, and what is the difference?) Adobe Acrobat is open and displayed on top of it is a window which says:

"Acrobat Reader
There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found."

It's 2015 Release Version 2015.007.20033, if that's relevant.

This happens only after I have been absent for many hours. It doesn't happen after a normal, i.e. short, absence during which the display is switched off.

What can be causing this?

hi guys,

why is it that on my computer, when i download or open a link to a .PDF file, i have the options to either OPEN, SAVE, or CANCEL right from there. there is no need to save it to a location before i can open it...i can just open it. but on my girlfriend's computer, it only gives me the options to SAVE, or CANCEL...no open option... i must save it and then open it. it's really annoying.

it is the same version of adobe acrobat reader and i even uninstalled her version and reinstalled it again hoping that it would fix the problem. is there a patch for Internet Explorer that is causing the issue (we are both using IE 6). anyone have any ideas?

I tried the Adobe Reader download too, which shouldn't be necessary as Adobe Professional X installed.

Anyways, due to work programs, IE 9 must be used and NOT IE 10; therefore, Adobe will only open previously download PDFs. It won't open new ones online, it just shows an EMPTY paper clip icon instead of PDF icon for Adobe.

Anyone?

A:Had to downgrade to IE9. Now PDFs won't open in Adobe Acrobat Professional X?

If you go to tools and manage addons. Is Adobe PDF reader installed in the list, and if so is it enabled?

Also try resetting IE9 back to default by going to Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Reset and click Reset.

I have Adobe Acrobat 6 Reader and Adobe Acrobat 5 (the PDF writer). I make and save a lot of PDF files, such as order pages when placing on-line orders, storing invoices, etc.

I create the PDF file by "printing" to Acrobat and saving the file. Immediately after "saving/ printing", the PDF file would immediately open in either the reader or writer (I don't know which) without any further help from me. I don't know how this setting came about; but, it was totally without any help from me and I liked it that way.

I recently had to load the OS from scratch and both Acrobat Reader 6 and Acrobat 5 and it no longer opens the just-created PDF file by default.

How can I get this setting back? I have searched the menus and cannot find any such setting.

A:Adobe Acrobat Default Setting to Open File

Have you tried right clicking the .pdf file with the shift key down? You should get a menu that has "open with" on it. Click that and on the box that comes up set .pdf files to always open with Acrobat.

Hi,

I noticed yesterday that i can't open any web page link in IE.
I reset tnetwork adapter, ran cccleaner, reg mechanic, spybot.
I also see that the desktop gadgets are not connected.
Also ran comodo internet security premium, turned it off etc.

The last thing i installed was google earth yesterday and that
wouldnt connect for some reason, that was the first time but
i took no nitice as i thought it was an issue just in google earth.
I uninstalled that also.

I clicked dignose connection problem in the blank ie page but
resetting the adapter doesn't do anything either.

I uninstalled java to see if i could update it as a tester,
But when trying to install it again it wouldn't connect to the net
so i did a system restore to get java back.

Think there's a few issues with different applications connectiing.
Thankfully everything is working in firefox or i wouldn't be here.

Any advice appreciated, could it be a recent update or maybe some kind of virus?
Should i run hijack this?

Thanks later

EDIT

I just tryed to run hjt but got this messege

A friend of mine called me asking for help converting an important document from a PDF to a DOC. I go to a website to convert the PDF and when I open it it gives me this... . I then go to open the PDF in Edge and Firefox (they are the only other PDF viewers I have other than Adobe) and they give me these messages... . But when I open it in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, it shows the document normally. It only opens in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. I don't know what was done to the file before it was given to me and I have tried printing it to a PDF and opening it but it gives me the same error. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi!

A user just ran into this problem, and i have been busting my head into the wall for the past coupple of hours getting absolutely nowhere.

When i attempt to open adobe acrobat on the computer, it does not open
and windows keeps constantly changing the color of the task bar and the top part of explorer and any other window i open.

this is a huge problem because it also stops the user from typing when he works, aswell as not allowing him to open pdf files, which really cripples his working capabilities

so far i have attempted setting the windows settings to preformance to eliminate all the fancy aero graphics but this does not change a thing, completely reinstall the graphics driver, reinstall adobe acrobat, run windows statup repair, sfc /scannow and virus scans. And probably someother desperate attempts that i don't remember.

adobe reader works fine, but he need to be able to edit the pdf files.

Any ideas?

Hello,

I've been experiencing a problem with my computer for some weeks now.

1. When I open an IE window, it opens up quite fast, but it takes 10-20 sec's, sometimes more, before the page starts loading. This is the case regardless of the page and it happens every time a new window opens. Once open, there is nothing wrong with the internet speed...

2. Even computer folders like My Computer, My Documents, My pictures take a long time to open. Here it's a bit different though. I click and then up to 20 seconds pass before folder opens. However, once it opens it opens very fast.

3. It seems that something is using an extraordinary amount of memory on my computer. Even with the computer "idle" I sometimes register up to 1gb of allocated memory. I find nothing unusual using different antivirus, spyware removal prog's, etc

Can anything be done to resolve these problems?

Hello,

I hope you can help here. My kids downloaded some malicious adware and I managed to remove all of them with Adware/Spybot/Spycatcher. However I deleted a (virtual bouncer) file from my local registry and somehow I could not open my internet browser. I am able to open it fine in safe mode but I'm not sure how to reestablish connection in normal boot mode.
I am running windows 2000.
I appreciate any advice as I think I'm going mad with frustration.....

Cheers,
John Deehan

Each time I attempt to open Internet Explorer (IE 9). My Vista Desktop restarts. Also it will not find updates.

Any ideas?

A:Each time I try to open Internet Explorer, the computer restarts.

Hello JSW,

What do you mean by the desktop restarts?  Can you please clarify and post screenshot if possible?
Do you get any error msgs? (e.g. windows explorer has stopped working, Internet explorer has stopped working and must be closed....)

NOTE: IE9 is the last IE browser that is supported in Vista, and it doesn't play well with many sites anymore, as it is outdated. (Gmail, for one doesn't support IE9)

Windows Update still supplies security updates for IE9.  Are you saying you can't use WU?

I would recommend using Google Chrome, especially since you cannot install IE10 or 11 with Vista.

Let me know

Mark.

I figured the network card was bad.... I changed it and now it is able to query a web page, but then IE gives me a message saying "Internet Explorer could not open the search page"....

Ideas?

PS: This person is using Verizon Online DSL, and the software is installed... we have cable... would that have anything to do with it not being able to connect? IU checked all the connections and the cables do work on other computers.....

Hello!

The subject says it all. We have all the
PCs in a domain. Via GPO
is "Enhanced Protected Mode"
aktivated.
Under Win 8.1.
everything works perfectly.

Update on Win10: domain user
(with roaming profiles
- but should not matter ...) are not able to open any page in IE zone "internet. If I type the URL manually and press ENTER, nothing happens. When I click on a link tp any external page on our
intranet page, two new tabs open with
the URL "res:
//ieframe.dll/acr_error.htm#,about: blank"

Intranet and Trusted Sites
(also via GPO defined) works fine (because protected mode is disabled for them by default).

By trial and error I found out that it
is the "EPM" that causes the problem.
If I switch it off, IE works again.

But why does it work
under Win8.1 and no longer
under Win10?
(BTW, when I try to start IE like this "iexplore -extoff", it opens with an empty window, stays for about ten seconds and then closes again. No error message, nothing ...)

Can anyone confirm this behavior?

Michael

Every time I open my computer or try to open any file or application, Adobe Acrobat Professional opens trying to install something.
First come up the following:

Adobe Acrobat Professional 7.0.5:
Please wait while Windows configures Adobe Acrobat 7.0.5

Then comes up the following:
Adobe Acrobat 7.0.5 Professional
The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.

Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package "AcroPro.msi" in the box below

I tried to uninstall Acrobat 7. However, it wouldn't let me. I tried to delete it many times. However, it keeps replicating itself. I have even tried renaming the file but the files renamed just replicated their old selves. When i was attempting to delete them the following files kept staying:
AcroIEHelper.dll
AcroPDF.dll
GbDetect.dll
Pdfshell.dll

However, at the end of the day all of Acrobat recreated it's files with the original names.
Right now I just want to get rid of Acrobat Professional 7 forever.
This problem is really frustrating. I have no idea what to do. I would appreciate your help very much. Thanks in advance

Last night I started getting pop ups that I had W32.Myzor.FK and Internet Explorer kept popping up with a site regarding a program to remove it. All attempts to close the pop ups and IE just bog down the computer. I searched for a way to fix it (which I found), but it requires starting the computer in Safe mode, which I am unable to do. It starts in Safe mode, but then the screen goes to black and does nothing (even after a wait of up to 45 minutes). I am including the hijack this log in the hopes that someone can advise...Thanks!
