Lenovo 720 13IKB 80X6 no longer works with active pen

Q: Lenovo 720 13IKB 80X6 no longer works with active pen

I ran into an issue with my Yoga 720 where the screen brightness wouldn't change after a recent Windows update. I fixed the issue by changing the driver to Intel(R) HD Graphics 620 but now the pen input on my Active Pen no longer works. I tried to change the BIOS to the latest version but it seems to already be the latest version. I'm Not sure what else to try other than reverting the BIOS to an older version but I can't find any old BIOS versions. Any help would be much appreciated.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hey there, after hours of tinkering and countless threads with no obvious answer I have managed to install Ubuntu 18.04 in UEFI mode. Touchpad and Active pen (v1) work. Onscreeen keyboard pops on touch input, keyboard lock in tablet mode and screen ratation work as well. Many of you asked these questions without answers. Thank you nameless developers who made it work.  It's not a definite guide. I want to show you how I did it. I will make it short, it will be chaotic enough. I will not cover the basics and assume you are starting from windows 10. 1) To create USB installer get Rufus. I have used 3.0 USB pendrive, Kingston Datatraveler 100 G3. During Rufus configuration set partition scheme to GPT. When you are ready click start. Window will pop, choose ISO.2) Get to the UEFI configuration in Windows 10. Under Configuration tab select SATA setting to AHCI (It will brick your windows 10, there are guides about it if you care). Go further to Secutity tab and select "Reset to Setup Mode". Go to Boot tab and set it to Legacy Support.3) F10, select whatever and your Live version or insaller should start.4) After you finish the installation you can paste in[ -d /sys/firmware/efi ] && echo "EFI boot on HDD" || echo "Legacy boot on HDD"to check if your system is using UEFI.5) If the output was positive you can now go to the UEFI again and select "UEFI Only" boot option.systemctl reboot --firmware-setup Happy lurking,Rudenick

Hello everyone,  I recently purchased a Lenovo Yoga 720 13IKB. I've only have the unit for about three (3) weeks and the batter is no longer able to charge when connected to the power supply that came with the unit. I checked the AC adapter to make sure that it was properly connected to PC and it was. I plugged it to different outlets and it didn't help. I bought a replacement powersupply from my local MicroCenter and still nothing. I checked the Control Panel, open up the Power Options to see if there were any settings in there but nothing to show why it wasn't chraging. Then Opened the Device Manager. Under "Batteries" I saw two items, one for the battery and another listed as "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery". I Opened each item, which will brought up the Properties window. Under the "Driver" tab looked for "Update Driver." I went through the two options and did the same process of updating drivers. I went through the driver update process for all options. Once the drivers are all up to date, I rebooted the laptop and plug it in again. Then i unninstalled "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery" completely and reboot. Still the problem persists.  I even updated all the windows Updates. Then I opened Lenovo's Companion app. I updated all the drivers that need updating and nothing changed. I still have my PC connected to AC power and the battery isn't charging. I opened the lenovo setting app and checked under battery section... Read more

A:Lenovo Yoga 720 13IKB No longer charging

Is it not charging at all, or just stuck at around 60%.    I ask because there i an option in Energy Management to select Maximum Battery Life, or Optimized Battery Health, and if set the latter (which I believe is the default), it will only charge to about 60 percent of capacity in an attempt to prolong the life of the battery.    Setting it to Maximum battery life will allow the batter to charge to 100% and you will get a longer run time, but you may have to replace the battery sooner.     If you leave the laptop usually plugged in, then optimized batter health is the better option. Cheers,

I recently updated my BIOS from 99CN24WW to 99CN28WW and experienced some changes in my system, specifically the passwords. I can no longer access administrative options in BIOS; it?s as if the user password and admin password have switched. The admin password I enter allows me to boot the computer up, and enter BIOS, but all of the options are greyed out, safe boot is disabled, and the change admin password option is missing. I can change the user password, but that doesn?t help. The HDD passwords were switched as well, but those both seem to be working, they?ve just been switched.  I?ve read that it might be possible to clear that password by resetting whats stored in CMOS memory. So I tried removing the RTC battery for some time, but that only reset the system time. I learned that theres some dedicated non-volatile memory that the BIOS is stored on. On desktops there are usually some jumpers that can help to reset these passwords, and I have a friend who helped me identify the short pads that clear CMOS and ME (which I assume is memory). Before going that route, I wanted to see if there was anything lenovo could help me with. Even just confirming if I am looking at the correct short pads would be helpful. I'm willing to try flashing my BIOS again to the previous version if it will help, but I don't have a backup of that ROM. If necessary I can provide proof of purchase, ID, and whatever else you may need. However, by updating everything (operating system, bios, drivers, etc ...), the software doesn't want to display the main menu anymore and leaves the message: "Services for Lenovo Vantage are being upgraded, please wait.".It's been now several hours, even whole nights by leaving it running but nothing, I don't have a low flow and everything seems to work but it can't display the main menu. I tried to reinstall it, but nothing has changed... (ps: I install it from the microsoft shop). Can you help me, cordially.

My Lenovo Yoga 920-13IKB is a 2 in 1 laptop running Windows 10 Home.  Meaning full Active S Pen and Touch screen.  After installing the Version  1909 update, it's Device Specifications (via Windows Settings) Pen and touch:  No pen or touch input is available for this display.    In Device Manager/Human Interface Devices, no HID Touch screen device or driver is available.  The Wacom Device cannot start.  I'm assuming because Version 1909 eliminated the pen and touch support. I ran a full restore of Win 10 Home (no pen or touch support found), ran a driver update scan via Lenovo.  It identified a "Touch Panel Pen Driver - 10" driver to be updated.  Update the driver and reboot and nothing has changed.  Start the Lenovo Pen Settings App and get a message that the Wacom Pen Driver is required.  Odd, since the Wacom Device won't start as stated above.  Follow the Lenovo Pen Settings link to download the Wacom Pen driver, install it, no change in functionality.  Same process before and after v1909 update with no Pen or Touch support.  It's barebones, no antivirus, firewall, anti-malware to get in the way. The machine came with a HDD partition of drivers but nothing identified as an HID touch screen.   Brett

A:Extra mSATA on LENOVO 81C3 Lenovo YOGA 720-13IKB

Hi Helenvds1982,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Checking with the hardware manual (page26) and specs sheet shows that there is no extra slot for another mSATA on the model.

An option for replacing the storage with a larger (up to 1TB PCIe 3.0 x 4 NVMe m.2 2280) capacity can be a solution for needed storage space.

I hope this helps answer your query.

What's the latest?~~~ [Developers only]Now, about fan control issue, I think is provocated by bad BIOS configuration because this can be fixed overriding registers in charge of fan speed and processor temperature management. Somebody has source code in order to fix it? Thanks and forgive my English level.

The laptop was working just fine, then all of a sudden shut off on its own. I thought the battery might've ran out, so I plugged it in, tried to power it on but did not power on, even after hours of charge. The white light on the side is lit when plugged in, and the keyboard lights up for 1 second when pressing the power button before shutting back down. I've done the hold the power button for 15 seconds, release, hold for another 15 trick, but all that happens are the fans turning on high-mode for 2 seconds then shutting back off. I'm decently tech savvy and build my own computers, but just not laptops. This says to me the motherboard is still intact and isn't having an issue communicating with parts. If I were to guess on the next thing, it'd be the battery failing. I don't hear any beeps or anything, which usually occurs with CPU errors, and with the screen/system not turning on, I can't diagnose if the m.2 ssd is failing (most likely not the issue). I've found this maintenance manual online to replace parts, but unsure if this is a common issue that others are having, and which part should I look into replacing (if any). I don't have an active warranty on this anymore but prefer to not spend a couple of hundred of dollars at a repair shop. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I just bought my 710S plus-13IKB ideapad laptop four days ago and have been facing some freezing issues while watching youtube but it's usually fine once I refresh the browser or close Chrome entirely so I didnt mind them. But just now (like 30 mins ago) it froze and nothing I click or press could work and the screen hasn't unfreeze since then. Im not good with tech stuff so I tried ctrl+alr+del and the novo bios button but both didnt work. Also to be frank, opening applications like folders etc tends to lag a little (or being a bit slow). Not sure if this is a Lenovo issue or Windows 10 issue. Please kindly advise what action I should take. It's really disappointing to see a new laptop being like this. ):

I have two Lenovo 910-13IKB (80VF002TAU) laptops both in black. They are both out of warranty as far as I can see. I am attempting to repair them myself. I have previous experience in laptop repair however this one has me stuck. Basically the main issue is a flickering screen. LAPTOP A- Flickering ScreenLAPTOP B- Trackpad connector faulty, but no flickering screen. So I did the natural thing and swapped the ?good? motherboard from the laptop with the flickering screen to the laptop with the broken trackpad connector but good screen. But it still flickers! Here is what I have tried;Swapping the motherboards over to prove screen good. When doing the above, I have made sure all screws are tight and present.Double, triple, quadruple checked that the screen connector was definitely snugly in its flip connector with the line on it lined up with the brown flip mechanism.Turned off windows 10- Auto brightness featureChecked graphics card drivers are up to date. But it still flickers!A few other symptoms; The flicker is not movement based, I cannot force it to flicker by opening and closing the monitor abruptly. The speakers make a popping sound sometimes when the screen is flickeringIt happens sometimes when the Lenovo logo is up at start up.It will not happen for hours on end and suddenly it will be really bad for a few minutes.A couple of other things I noticedI seem to be missing a rubber piece according to the service manualI haven?t seen this piece in any of the 4 lapt... Good morning, I purchased a Lenovo Yoga 720 13IKB 80X6 last november 2017 in the United Arab Emirates. Everything worked perfectly until July, when the laptop shut down and wouldn?t turn on anymore. I tried everything I could without opening the device and cancelling the warranty , but eventually sent it back in the store where I bought it, and they had to change the motherboard.  Now, not even two months later, same problem. That laptop doesn?t turn on anymore, and this time it also doesn?t charge (the LED on the side doesn?t light up).  I, once again tryed everything I could that i found on the forums without opening the device pressing the on button for various amounts of time, pressin the ''reset'' one with a pin... nothing seems to work. Problem is that I no longer live in the UAE. So now I have two questions : - does anyone have an idea of what the problem might be? - Can I still send my device for repair where I live now for free with Lenovo?s IWS?  Thank you to anyone who can help out, it?s very much appreciated. Sincerely,  A disappointed costumer

OK SO! I am growing increasiningly frustrated and would appreciate some clarification. I bought the Lenovo Yoga 910. I chose this computer specifically because I was dazzled by it's ability to fold completely over into a tablet, which I thought would be excellent for drawing. I've run into several complications on that front, one being that Photoshop does not work in tablet mode (the workaround being I make do with the pre-installed Sketchbook app, which is fine for now) and most recently, the Pen. I have recently heard the very distressing news that my particular model of lenovo yoga (AND THIS ONE ALONE APPARENTLY) does not have the capacity to work with a stylus? Not even the Lenovo Active Pen? A Lenovo Brand Instrument that should be compatable with ANOTHER LENOVO BRAND INSTRUMENT? So far what I've read is that this ONE VERSION of this computer (both older and new models do not have this issue) is not pen compatable. Round, rubber tipped styluses are compatible (but I've tried those and they are jumpy and innaccurate), but digital pens, including those made by Lenovo, don't work.  I am *literally* nauseous over this, because it is such a waste of money. I can return the Active pen, but I'm stuck with this laptop that does not work in any of the ways I bought it for. I just want to draw! Digitally! And I can't do that long term with only my finger!!! WHY EVEN BOTHER MAKING A TOUCHSCREEN TABLET COMPUTER IF YOU AREN'T GOING TO MAKE IT PEN COMPATIBLE. I apo... Read more

I purchased my Lenovo Yoga about 10 months ago and the first 6 months it wa fantastic, since then it has been an awful experience. First to spend that kind of money on a laptop you expect it to be flawless for many years, especially when it's taken care of extremely well. Sadly, here I am now 10 months later, over $800 poorer, and my Lenovo rarely turns on. I'd say on average I can get it to come one once a week, but as soon as I walk away and stop using it it will go into sleep mode and no longer turn on for days. I've tried the reset button, hard boot, holding the power button for 15 secs, 20 secs, all the suggestions on this messsage board, and still the same issues. For the amount of threads just like mine Lenovo should have issued a recall. This is obviously a serious software issue within the laptop. I had high hopes for my Lenovo and for the first 6 months I was blown away, but now I'm left feeling like I'll never buy another Lenovo product again.

Hi Just want to share my latest experience after reading many posts of Yoga 920-13IKB (i7-8550 / 8G / 512G / 4K screen) incompatibility with Lenovo USB-C Travel Hub. I had this new Yoga 920 laptop for about a week, replacing my previous Yoga 900 (13.3", QHD+, i7-6560U, 256G, 8G). I have been using the Dell USB-C to HDMI/VGA/Ethernet/USB 3.0 Adapter (DA200) with the Yoga 900 without any problems. However, I can say with certainty that the Yoga 920 is incompatible with the Dell DA200 adapter. After reading many posts, I finally decided to purchase the Lenovo USB-C Travel Hub (4X90M60789) as a replacement. I had a local store rang Lenovo to confirm that it would work with my Yoga 920 before making the purchase. It arrived yesterday, and with two days of using and testing the connections Lenovo USB-C Travel Hub (Ethernet/HDMI/VGA/USB3.0); I can say that it works as expected. I'm not sure why Lenovo does not update their website to include the model Yoga 920 to be listed on the "Hardware Compatibility" list, as this will simply for the enduser to check - http://support.lenovo.com/docs/usb_c_travel_hub

My 730's keyboard started acting up mid January. I didn't mind it and dealt with it. I do light gaming and the keyboard seems to have grown a large delay. Only when I am gaming. I check Task Manager and my RAM usage is at 60-70%. Disk around 39%. CPU not maxed out neither iGPU. What happens is when I am to press a key such as F when i press it it happens later and it starts to stack the commands. So if i press F once it will finish the input around 1- 0.5sec later. I've looked everywhere, I can't seem to find any solutions. I have FilterKeys disabled so thats not it. Backlight is off and FPS is capped to 60 same as my screen 60hz. Only keyboard, mouse entries are smooth and with no lag. It would be very helpful if someone could help.

It is not becoming brighter through windows. It also still does it if I boot into an Ubuntu USB, so it can't be caused by windows or a driver. It also does not flicker on an external display. It starts off as changing brightness every 5 seconds when I turn on the laptop to every 1 second afterwards. It also seems to happen more if it is displaying bright colors, though it could be just less noticeable on dark colors. Is my display bad? Thank you.

Hi and welcome to the community,

I removed your posts asking for all issues to be mentioned in one thread.

Each issue with any machine requires its own separate thread so solutions and possible fixes can be traced.  To have all issues lumped together into one thread defeats the purpose of searching for a solution to a particular problem.

Thank you for understanding.

Hello, Recently my CEO had bought a Lenovo Yoga 910-13IKB. It came with win10 preinstalled. I had worked on it for about 10 minutes and than the problem showed up: our local WiFi network dissapeared. Then I had restarted WiFi router and network showed Up, but as soon Yoga connected, same again no network. I googled for solution and I did uninstall EMC and Lenovo Utility but that did not resolved the problem. Then I had tried to uninstall all drivers and than download and install them again but still the problem is there. Wherever Yoga connects WiFi dies. I found that some routers recognize something like DDos attack and so I dissabled that option on routers but again problem is there. I really need this laptop functional for school as I spent a lot of money to get it.

I've recently bought a Lenovo Yoga 720 13IKB, considering the battery as one of its biggest pros due to some reviews and adds I read in the Internet. Unfortunately, even after a 100% charge, I can't get no longer than 4h30 / 5 h of battery lifetime prediction / battery lifetime.  I have already decreased brightness, I almost have no apps running in background, but unfortunately it doesn't gets better. The situation is even worse considering that I'm not doing anything but surfing online, texting in word or taking a look at some pictures in Windows Gallery. Have anyone experienced the same problem? Can someone please help me? Is that true that we can get 10h30 (or a bit less, I wouldn't care) like it was advertised or that was just a commercial bait? Thanks in advance!

Hi Friends, I have encountered problem while installing new OS (Windows 10 PRO) on my lenovo Yoga 910-13IKB which we prefer more than the default Windows 10 Home because I have used it more for job related matters. But after it automatically restarts as this was also included on the installation process, the next process became a cycle of basic information request-wifi connection-express settings then restarts again, and the same process continuously repeats. Aside from it, the screen's touch screen feature and the mouse pad are not working. Can anyone help me regarding my concern. I have attached file with images. Thank you.

My laptop is only 1 year old and just ran out of warranty 10 days ago. I'm still going to call and see what they can do because my battery is completely drained, will not hold a bit of charge. I tried different outlets, nothing. I am plugged into the right charging port. Lenovo Vantage says my battery health is poor. I did not run any updates prior to this happening. I just ran every update except the BIOS which is not allowing me to since my battery is at 0% and requires a greater than 30% charge for safety. I do not know what I can do other than buy a new battery and try it out. Is this a BIOS issue or a battery issue? My battery was completely fine and I was just using the laptop a few hours ago. I put it to sleep and came back to it completely drained and not able to charge at all. Does anyone have any suggestions?

For the life of me I cannot figure out how to start a new post on this site so please forgive me for hijacking this thread.  I have a Lenovo Yoga 910-13IKB Model Name 80VF that died about 4 months ago - battery quit charging.  It was three months past warranty...sigh.... I took it back to Best Buy and they told me my charging cable was fine and to get it fixed I'd have to send it off for 6 weeks and it would cost me a minimum of $500.00.  Since I was using this computer for my job (I'm self employed) this really wasn't an option so I went to the apple store and purchased a mackbook pro.  However, I would like to get this Lenovo fixed and use it as a backup.  My questions:1.  Should I replace the battery?2.  Lenovo seems to be out of stock of batteries:  Is there another source where I can buy on line?  I can't find anything.3.  Should I look at replacing the little circuit board that connects the power source to the battery?  I can't seem to find a P/N for it (I removed that back plate of the laptop). Any help or assistance would be greatly appreciated.  Support for this product from Lenovo has been underwhelming to say the least. Jeff BueNewark, Texas, USA
