Win 10 install crashed Live Mail

Q: Win 10 install crashed Live Mail

Downloaded and installed Win 10. Live Mail would not open. Uninstalled Win 10 and reverted back to Win 7 so I could export contacts. All Live Mail files have been corrupted. Can not uninstall, repair, or reinstall Live Mail or Essentials. Trying to get contacts so I can install Win 10 and bring contacts into Outlook.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I was in Windows live mail 2011, reading mail & computer completely froze-up. I had to shut off & restart computer. Everything seemed to work except Windows Live Mail would not start. I got a message as follows: Windows Live Mail could not be started. It may not be installed correctly. Make sure that your disk is not full or that you are not out of memory (0x80041161), I have ample memory and disk space plus I ran virus scan and nothing found. I currently have no access to any of my stored information (tons). Can anyone help me with this problem?

I am having the same problem with almost any attachment I try to open in Vista's Windows Mail. I have OpenOffice 2.4 on my laptop and have downloaded the latest viewer from Microsoft for the new office file formats. I run AVG anti-virus software. I can't believe this product is so fragile. I have worked in software development for 40 years. This is rediculous.

A:Wondows Live Mail crashed when opening an attachment

Hi Rick. . .

I moved your post to your own thread so we can explore your issue alone. All that pertains here is for your problems w/Windows Live Mail.

Seeing your 40 year software development history intrigues me.

What does the Event Viewer indicate during these app crashes?

Have you checked out WERCON -
START | type wercon - hit enter.

Usually no solutions there, but it may indicate some issue.

Also, the Reliability Monitor -
START | type perfmon - but look at RM not the PM. You should see the app crashes w/red x-circles. DO they indicate anything?

What 3rd party firewall, if any and A/V are you running?

Please run msinfo32 and save in NFO format.
START | type msinfo32 - enter

Also, Vista System health report - executed from an Elevated admin level - type this in the DOS box -

perfmon /report

60 seconds its done. Save in HTML.

Lastly - SysInternals AutoRuns - click on the Live SysInternals Autoruns link - save to desktop. Right-click on AR icon, run as admin. Save in ARN format. Than please zip this, the msinfo32 and HTML file up and attach to your next post, please.

Hi Folks,

My elderly mother somehow crashed her e-mail, and I'm trying to fix it for her. It is a Comcast.net pop mail server. She clicks the Live Mail icon on her desktop and the mail would open.

She could still go to Comcast.net on the web and get into her e-mail but that is too complicated for her. So I need to get it working from her desktop.

After the crash when the mail opens from the desktop icon all folders (inbox, sent etc.) have the error message "Unable to display folder".

I want to uninstall all current mail installed then install anew. I tried this but then the new Live Mail reverted to her old settings etc (I don't know how that happened), and hence the same error message. So I must not have uninstalled all of the old e-mail.

Can anyone please help as to the easiest way to get her live mail from the desktop icon working again?

Thank You

A:Live Mail crashed. Now error mssg " Unable to display folders"..?

Do you sense that your nice Mom's old mailboxes are still around? Or, have they been deleted by now? Reason for asking: I know where in [user] AppData Local and Roaming where the Mozilla Thunderbird doodads, doohickies, and mailboxes are. I'm hoping Windows Live Mail does the same thing. If so, it's possible to reconstruct from any recent restorable folders/files backup. If no backups, then, I don't know any further.

I've tried everything I know including creating a new user and it still will not install. It had been working until 2 days ago. Then it just stopped receiving my email. I deleted the account and set it up again. Nothing works.

Can anyone help me?

I did a system restore back to when I had my email that was hanging, and I now have it installed back on my laptop, but it connected once and now it hangs up on receiving email. It's acting very weird. I wonder if anyone else is having a problem with the Windows Mail? I can pick up my email on my desktop computer, no problem. Just not on my laptop.

Recently I needed to change my e-mail password. After I did this Windows live mail would not work. So I un-installed it. But when I tried to download it and re-install it, it will not install. Other components like Messenger etc will install and it shows up in the control panel as Windows Live Essentials 2011. But Windows Live Mail is not included, even though I have made sure it is included in the download programs. Several times I have tried to install this, even waiting for several days intervals. I have tried every trick and suggestion that I know or can find on the net but still it will not download or install.

My system is H.P. Pavillion

Windows live mail (amongst many other programs) got deleted from my c:/program files (x86) folder through what seems to be malware that I may or may not have fixed. So I want to avoid windows live mail being installed there again and wish to install it elsewhere, such as c:/program files, or even another hard drive of mine. But windows live essentials does it it all automated and I don't think it gives me a choice, so how can I choose to install it to anywhere except program files (x86)?

A:How can I choose where to install windows live mail?

Just a thought: If you have malware it would be better to imagine you can't hide anything from it. Use Microsoft's free "Windows Defender Offline" which scans your hard drive from its own bootable CD. You can also install a free version of Malwarebytes and do a scan with it. Keep your pc up to date with all the security updates from Windows Update. Use only the latest versions of Flash and don't install any programs or browser add-ons you don't need (Java, Shockwave, etc) unless you plan to keep them up to date as well. Keep one antivirus program running all the time like Microsoft's free "Security Essentials".

Just wondering if anyone else has had the following experiences recently;

First, when I opened Windows Live Mail today, one fortnightly recurring event notification from my Live Calendar started sending reminders via Live Mail to me. About ten events were immediately loaded and showed as Emails in my In Box. I deleted [unopened] all the subject Emails, followed immediately by emptying of the contents of the Deleted Folder.

However, the Emails kept coming, and the only way to stop the problem was to open the Calendar, select the subject Event and delete all future recurring instances. By that time, Emails for notifications into the middle of 2011 had been received, and I treated those the same way as detailed above.

Second, for the first Email that I wished to send after this strange behaviour, this anti-spam security clearance panel appeared;

I needed to complete the clearance, before the Live Mail email was sent.

Now I'm left wondering what this was all about?

This is a slightly annoying problem. I've disabled Windows Live Messenger from starting up, both through Messenger's options and through MSCONFIG. The program doesn't start when Windows starts. But when I log on to Windows Live Mail through a web browser, Messenger starts up on it's own. I cannot figure out a way to disable this. I've looked through Live Mail options and can't find anything to denote starting up the program. Windows Live Mail & Windows Live Hotmail Plus

I use at times both the WLM & W Live Hotmail Plus.

If I use the Hotmail I can not place a foto in the body of a message however I can send
one as a attchment.

If I use the WLM I can add a text sig, a foto sig, or both if I use the layout format and
stored pics.

What puzzles me is if wish to set-up a permanent sig I can create the text but when I
attempt to add a foto and select the source the system opens but when I select pics
the file is empty.

My sequence to try to set up a sig is as follows:

Select NEW message, then I go to the tools, options, and signature

Thanks for any info

I find the assocation of windows live mail and messenger very annoying. In WL Mail, I use both my hotmail and gmail accounts. I prefer to save my passwords so I don't have to enter them every time I open my mail. However, if I get WL Mail to rememberr my passwords, my hotmail account automatically pops up first when I want to sign into WL Messenger, even though I never use hotmail in messenger (just the gmail sign-in). So now, I always have to change the sign-in information on messenger because somehow it prefers my hotmail account.
Simply clickinig 'forget me' in WL Messenger is not the solution since this also makes WL Mail forget my hotmail password, so I have to enter this one very time I open my mail.

So somehow I would like to dissociate the two, to have WL Mail to remember my passwords, but WL Messenger to forget the hotmail account. Does anyone know if there's any way to do so? I hate these automatic associations that you don't have any control over!

I had to re install my OS. After I did that the fun of installing everything started and one of those things was Windows Live Mail.
I've done this before when I bought my new computer and had some issues importing my mail as well which was the same idea, Live mail to Live mail.

Now I'm facing the issue again and find it hard to find a simple and straight forward answer to my issue as most topics go about Windows mail or show importing methods which aren't the same as I used before so I'll try to explain as good as possible what I encounter.

I click on import messages and select email messages. Then it lets me choose a folder from which I can install. I select my external HD where the back up is. Then when I want to add it I get the option to either select the folders I want to add or I can add all of them. Strange thing here is that it doesn't show my inbox or any subfolder, and I had many subfolders, but only shows the deleted folder. When I do proceed it adds that what it showed and I don't have anything imported other then the deleted folders.

Now I might be doing something wrong as in the past this was the way I could import and export. Maybe I don't have enough rights for the folder?
I do hope that someone can help me out and have a straight forward solution because if I lose all these emails I will go crazy

Looking forward to any help.

A:Trouble importing Windows Live Mail to Windows Live Mail

Name a folder in my documents. Call it Windows live mail backup
Make a sub folder call it backup
Click on options/ email
Click on export mail
It should pop up with all the folders, in box etc.
highlight each folder. You will have to do it with the crtl key because using shift key sometimes does not work
It will then give you a browse where to put it. Put in the backup folder you made. Them copy and paste the folder onto the flash drive
On the new computer you will do the same thing bit you will pick import instead of export

Hi, I'm having a great deal of difficulty in figuring out how to install Windows Live mail to my PC. I have a new Dell PC (December), Windows 7, 64 bit.

Within the last month, I experienced some issues that required me to eventually get a new hard drive. I backed up my windows live email into 4 separate folders prior to changing hard drives:

1) Live Mail 1 Msgs 081210
2) Live Mail 2 Contacts
3) Live Mail 3 Mail
4) Live Mail

When I go to Microsoft's site to download Windows Live Essentials, it wants to set me up with a Hotmail or Yahoo acct & I don't want to use them because I already have an ISP that I use.

If I download Windows Live Essentials, what happens? Will I have the option to choose my own ISP?

And, once I have Windows Live mail installed, how do I extract or import the data from those 4 folders?

I'm not tech savvy but I can follow most instructions if someone can help me.

A:Export mail and contacts from Outlook 2007 to Windows live mail 2012?

Don I might be way off track here mate but was the Outlook account the same email address as you have set up in WLM?

Just a thought you might try adding an account to WLM using the old address and password. I did this with my old account from my service provider then went to a Hotmail account.
Now admittedly it was still within WLM but worth a try.

What I will do is try and add my work account (Outlook) to my WLM and see if it works.

PS It added the account but I have to get the POP and STMP settings right first.

Microsoft is "upgrading" people's  @outlook.com, @hotmail.com, @live.com, and @msn.com accounts, to a new Outlook.com (built upon the latest Office 365 infrastructure), which is INcompatible with Live Mail 2012 (and presumably older versions as well):  Effective late June 2016, Windows Live Mail 2012 will no longer synchronize emails, contacts, and calendar events from these email accounts.
People who use Windows Live Mail 2012 to connect to other email services, including Gmail, Yahoo Mail, or other services that use POP3 or IMAP protocols, do not need to take action.
Is this another veiled attempt to force users to "upgrade" from Windows 7?
Users can still access their e-mail via their web browser(s).   Or they can use the new Outlook.com and/or a Mail app on Windows 8.1/10

I have several mail accounts.
I have now created 2 HTML mail signatures incl. a logo and attached them to 2 different mail accounts.
Problem 1: If I create a new email, then no matter what mail accounts is set, it will always put in the default mail signature.

So, I looked in forums and removed the auto insert signature in all emails, as someone suggested.

Problem 2: If I create a new email I have to insert it manually myself. (When I do it here, the insert menu has the choice of 2 signatures)

Problem 3: If I insert the one with the image, the image is not shown, only the object frame. And there is no image in the final email in the receivers inbox. (When I do it here, the insert menu has the choice of 2 signatures)

ONLY, if I REPLY on an already received email and then click insert mail signature.. THEN the mail signature comes correct with the image. (Here the insert menu only has 1 signature, the one attached to the mail account).

Has anyone found the reason and solution for this? MICROSOFT!!
PS: its on Windows 7.

I've had a problem ever since Windows Live Mail was upgraded to the 2011 version.

I've been able to receive e-mail regularly and send some messages, but apparently some of my sent mail never reaches the recipient. I've now had several people tell me they never got my messages. I have multiple accounts from different service providers, and it doesn't seem to matter which account I use to send - some recipients never get the messages, and they are NOT in a spam folder etc. particularly Gmail users have had trouble receiving my mail, but again a few messages have gone through. one person didn't get about 5 of my e-mails, but one came through so this seems quite irregular.

All my accounts in Live Mail use the same smtp server, which is my ISP's server. I have checked that its correct, and as mentioned it works half the time. I also use the same server on my laptop, and it seems to work fine. the server does not use authentication etc.

so the combination that doesn't seem to work is Live Mail and the outgoing server. is there anything I can do to pinpoint the problem further?

A:Windows Live Mail 2011 - sent mail leaves outbox but disappears

Thanks for the message. I found it through Google.

This feels much more complicated than using the Outbox in Window XP

After editing an email when you go to Send it
there is a little drop-down warning box that it will be sent automatically
next time you are connected to the internet.

This time can seem erratic even when you are on a wireless connection all the time.

So you cannot use Outbox to double check.

Server Response: 553 Sorry, over your daily relay limit.
Server: 'smtpout.secureserver.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC78
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 80
Secure(SSL): No

I don't send many emails and don't send emails with large attachments, so I don't know why the "over your daily relay limit" message appears.

Port 80 has worked for a long time and works (sends emails) from the other computers on the network, so it doesn't seem like I should need to select a different port number.

The "My server requires authentication" box is selected/ticked.

None of the settings have been changed for a long time.

Our ISP is GoDaddy.

Thanks for any advice.

Please need to solve, at this time, the following, and believe I need the server settings and other info. I am a dunce with Windows 7, and it never did play well with Comcast...just that with XP I could fumble it into place myself. Now, the Comcast techs are lost, or just do not want to help me reconfigure it into Windows Live Mail (as the whole problem was created by their instructions on how to set up pay on line! Incredible, hmm?)

The connection to the server has failed.

I use the new Windows Live Mail client to access two IMAP accounts, Gmail and one provided by my University. Gmail works such that whenever you send an email through it, it automatically puts a copy in the Sent Mail folder. So if the WLM client tries to put a copy there as well, you end up with two copies of the email in the Sent Mail folder. The University IMAP account doesn't work like this. A copy will only appear in the Sent Mail folder for that account if the client program puts a copy there.

So the problem is the way WLM handles this. Most IMAP settings are specific to the account. You right click on an account, go to settings, and then go to the IMAP section and specify the folders and stuff like that. However, the option of whether or not WLM puts a copy of an email you send in the Sent Mail folder can only be set for the entire client.

In Tools->Options->Send is the checkbox for this option. If it's checked, I get a single copy of sent mail in the University account and two copies in Gmail. If it is unchecked I get no copies for the University account and just one for Gmail.

Does anyone know a way to fix this?

edit: Oh, and a side question, is it possible to make WLM stop showing the number of unread emails in the trash or spam? They're in there because I have no intention of reading them. I don't care how many are unread.

Hi tech friends, I am helping an acquaintance who has installed Windows Live Mail and created two email accounts therein: one a regular Comcast.net account, and one for email sent to his domain, which is hosted by totalchoicehosting.com. However, he can't receive email sent to his own domain address. He is using the incoming and outgoing server settings prescribed by his web host, but the mail never arrives i n his in box in Windows Live Mail. Messages sent to the Comcast address do appear in Windows Live.

He is able to receive mail by going through mail2web.com.

What else can I try?

Our old XP machine harddrive has just died! This has OE6 on it... I'm now on a Win7 PC with Windows Live Mail... I am trying to find an import option to bring in all my old backed-up folders in the dbx format without any luck.

Any suggestions? I did try Thunderbird then gave up!!

A:Importing Outlook Express mail into Windows Live Mail

I did it a long time ago and cannot recall my method.

If you pound google, you will find numerous methods. If one doesn't work, move on to the next. I do recall that it is a hit and miss affair, so be prepared to experiment.

Primary advice: be sure you have multiple copies of your DBX folders and keep one copy of each folder safe and unaltered. Try the various methods you discover on a copy of the DBX folders.
