Cannot Send, Rec, Delete or move email

Q: Cannot Send, Rec, Delete or move email

Using MS Outlook on Win XP sys. I suddenly found I could not delete an email. I found I can open and print but cannot delete, move or Send/Rec.
Error mess: "The messaging interface has returned an unknown message ....restart Outlook."
Rebooting does not help.
Thanks for any ideas.

Preferred Solution: Cannot Send, Rec, Delete or move email

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm a still-learning, self-taught, fairly new, computer student. I have a problem with an email that I received in my inbox on my hotmail account from a ?friend? recently. The subject line reads...Fwd: Fwd: Angels....size 617K. When I clicked the open box, I got a firewall alert (Norton) that instance of confidential info "block bank account" had occurred. I then tried to delete the email and got the same alert and then again when I tried to move to another folder within hotmail. After reading the email listed above it in the inbox and deleting that one...this email opened...had an attachment titled "application thingsar.pps". I did not open the attachment but tried to delete on the page and once again got the same firewall confidential info alert. I just can't seem to make it go away!!! I thought about disabling my firewall until I delete it...but if it's blocking access to my personal conf. info....seemed like a bad idea.

I also had another strange incident involving the sender of this particular email and my hotmail inbox a short while back. I received an email in my inbox addressed to him...??????????? Always wondered how that happened!! Any input and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This is an awesome site and forum!!!! Thanks!!!!!

My co-worker tried sending an image in Outlook 2003 (XP machine) that was too large to go through. It has now blocked up the entire program and he cannot send or receive anything. I have tried going offline to delete the file, moving the file, and I downloaded the MDBVU32 program from Microsoft to go into the actual Outlook files, but when I try to delete that specific message, I get an error saying it cannot be stopped. I set Outlook to try and connect to a dial up modem (we have none) so it wouldn't be trying to send the message, and I still could not delete it. Anyone have any other ideas? Any help would be much appreciated!

I have also tried starting in safe mode, but everytime I open Outlook it hangs and shuts down.

I know in Outlook Express I can just rename the .dbx file, but as far as I've learned, there are only .pst files for Outlook, and I have no idea where to access the outbox.

A:Email In Outbox Too Large To Send- Cannot Delete

Try this:

Close Outlook. Disconnect your PC from the modem, or if your modem has a standby button, press it once (so all the lights go out). Launch Outlook. It will fail immediately because you're not connected to the outside world. Go to the Outbox, and delete the problem message. Reconnect to the modem.

I've had this problem for about a week and it's putting me in a bind. I had a friend come over a few days ago to help and he determined that the problem was from having too many emails in my system which jammed things up. I tried to delete some emails but was unable to do so. I click on the delete button and nothing happens. When I try to send email I get a 0X800CCC0E error message, and when I try to recieve email I get 0X800C0133 error message. I did some searching on this website and tried a solution of clicking on Tools/Options/Maintenance Tab/Store Folder, copying the address and doing a Start/Run and paste the address to bring up the DBX files and then deleting the inbox from there. Although it did delete all of my unnecesarry emails I'm still not able to delete any of my emails in the normal fashion by clicking on the delete button. Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Jeff

I have a 500 GB hard drive from 3-2009 with Vista on primary 1 at 65 GB, XP Pro on the 2ND at 30 GB, and 7 is installed on my 3rd primary at 75 GB, and in the extended partition area are 2 Ubuntu Linux, swap file, and a couple of NTFS storage partitions which uses the remaining drive space. So I want to delete the old Vista and then either move 7 to that primary 1 after a temporary shrink to fit the 65 GB, or install Windows 10 on it, and then delete the 2 NTFS partitions and an older Linux to allow reducing the extended way down for more space for 7 if it is possible to move or copy partitions such as my XP and a Linux with a good partion tool such as the Gparted or Acronis Disk Manager. My NTFS storage areas are now empty so not needed, and I did create a exact full hard drive clone copy with Acronis True Image in a external enclosure connected by eSATA and my system does have the AHCI sata to allow hot connect. So any good suggestions for this?

I have a new ASUS notebook and it uses Windows 8. On my home pc I have Windows Vista and was able to set up multiply email accounts in Window Live Mail. (my charter, my hubby charter, 2 school google accounts and yahoo)
I was able to read mail coming thru our main email acct (my charter), if an email came thru that needed to go to my hubbys account or another account I was able to drop and drag it to the other account listed on the screen.

I have most of my emails set up on my new ASUS notebook. Is there any way to drop and drag emails from one account to another? I can drag the email and hover over the new email account, but it does not drag it.

When I got BellSouth DSL years ago I had Outlook email account set up with BellSouth as outgoing and old domain as incoming so I could keep my email address from another domain. It worked fine until a year or so ago I had to add another account just for BellSouth and that worked fine.

Within last few weeks emails from my email address (old domain) would not send. I've been through it with ATT tech several times to no avail.

It seems that ATT has trapped me out and does not want me to be able to keep my old email.

There's bound to be a way to set up my email accounts so my outgoing email from my other ISP provider will send through BellSouth without changing my very old and reliable email address.

Also, I recently have acquired my own domain name and I fear emails from that email address will suffer the same fate.

I hope this is not too long, but PLEASE HELP if you can.

A:Can't send email using different domain in email address BellSouth trapped me out...

If your BellSouth e-mail service is provided by Yahoo, then you probably need to go through a registration and authentication process for each e-mail address you want to send through a non BellSouth/Yahoo mail server. At least that is what I had to go through as an SBC/ATT DSL customer. They claim that they do the blocking to prevent from originating from users within their network.

Hi, firstly please bear with me as i'm new to this. I'm trying to setup the email on our virtual server through cpanal and using Thunderbird 3 (although i did try it with Outlook 2007 and the same results.)

Using the given Incoming and Outgoing mail server info given (mail.domain.co.uk) and the mail server username, I get a failed to find error (using both POP3 and IMAP). If I change that too the SSL settings for Incoming / Outgoing (serverusername.miniserver.com), it works and autofinds Connection Security as STARTTLS and finds the ports too. With this I can send emails fine, but I am not getting incoming emails, and I don't know enough about it too see what I'm doing incorrect, any help would be great, thanks.

I posted this on yahoo answers first, but the only response I got was "restart your outloook and try later." *facepalm* Glad to have found a place more dedicated to such problems.

I have a word document that includes a form the user must fill in. I want to create a button that will do all of the following:
1. Update all fields
2. Attach the updated word document to an email
3. Enter an address I have stored in the macro into the To field of the email.

I have one module which does the first part:
Sub CommandButton1_Click()
Dim oStory As Range
For Each oStory In ActiveDocument.StoryRanges
If oStory.StoryType <> wdMainTextStory Then
While Not (oStory.NextStoryRange Is Nothing)
Set oStory = oStory.NextStoryRange
End If
Next oStory
Set oStory = Nothing
End Sub

I found that if I add this to the before End Sub it attaches the updated Word document to an email:
Application.Options.SendMailAttach = True 'Or False

However, I can't figure out how have it put a specific address into the To field of the document.

So I tried another tact. I have the email address as a hyperlink in the document, and set a bookmark at the hyperlink. Then I created a module that will go to the bookmark and open the hyperlink. However, this will not add the document as an attachment:

Sub Open_Hyperlink()
Selection.GoTo What:=wdGoToBookmark, Name:="hyperlink"
With ActiveDocument.Bookmarks
.DefaultSorting = wdSortByName
.ShowHidden = False
End With

Selection.Range.Hyperlinks(1).Follow NewWindow:=False, AddHistory:=True
End Sub

Hi guys,
I would like to be able to move an email to a sub folder of my mailbox and get Outlook to send an email to the sender of the email I moved into it. Hope that makes sense.

I found this archived thread http://forums.techguy.org/business-applications/439567-outlook-reply-email-when-mail.html which has proved very helpful and I've managed to get it working for me.

I would like it to send more than just a one line email reply but I don't know how, maybe get it to use a text file for the body of the email?

Ps. Don't mention the shift key as I hate all keyboards!

A:I want to make a send to option that will MOVE to specified library

This may be of use:

Context Menu - Add Copy To Folder and Move To Folder

Just to be clear, the Libraries are basically a 'shortcut' to the specified folder. I.E., My Pictures, so you will never have a file only in the Pictures Library, it will also be (by necessity) in the My Pictures folder.

I started out with the two previous posts about macros (post 1, post 2) that move rows into columns, but I'm having a little trouble getting it to work for what I need. First, I'm trying to do a data merge into Word, but in order to get the data merge to work/look the way I want it to, I need the XLS data to be in columns.

I'm attaching an example file that has one worksheet of the sample data (though my "real" data has about 300 rows) and the other worksheet is an example of the outcome I need.

Is there anyway I can do what I need? Exporting into another file or another worksheet within this file would be fine.

Thanks in advance.

Say I have 10 individual Email recipients that I often send the same Email to. I want to be able to bring all the addresses together into one Group, and send the Email addressed to say "Family" or "Social Team" etc.

Is there a way that I can lump all the common recipients together under one title?

A:How do I group common Email addresses together to send all the same Email?

Since your question is in the Windows Live section, I am assuming you are using the Windows Live Mail (POP Version). To add a group email do the following:

1. In Windows Live Mail, click the "contacts" button
2. Click "New"
3. Select "Category"
4. Name the Catergory (such as Family or whatever you want to call the group)
5. Check the email addresses of the list that pops up for those you want in the group.

Now, next time you want to send an email with this program, in the "to" field, simply type the name of the category you just created. All contacts you added to the group will now be sent the email you just wrote.

In our village in Spain, we have a very dodgy wireless internet access system, run by a company called NijarNet that is very difficult to communicate with - partly a language problem and partly because their customer service is dreadful. I have 13 clients with accounts here (I'm a management agent), and I manage these for them - they are all either wifi or wimax which pick up the signal from various antennae in the area. One such client was having no problem until something called Spamcop blocked his emails. Since then, he is unable to send emails from his 02 account, although he can send from his gmail account with no problem. He can receive on both accounts. O2 says it's not their problem, but that I must talk to the provider (which I have tried to do but they deny it's their problem and can't/won't give any advice on what the problem might be). I reckon it's something fairly simple that I might be able to sort myself, maybe a setting on the router? Can you offer any advice? He's tried it on several different laptops, devices etc with no luck. Any advice would be gratefully received.

They both use the same computer. When the husband tries to send email to his wife's email acct, she never receives it. Yet he can send emails to me and I am a Road Runner email address. So I know that his Windows Live is set up correctly.

His wife's email is working fine directly through Road Runner as she can send and receive emails.

SO... Seems to me the issue has something to do with using the same computer and he never signs out of Windows Live. (I personally use Outlook as I am a business and am not familiar with Windows Live)

He never gets any kind of Undeliverable mail message or anything.

Can anyone help me here. I'm am do back over to continue cleaning up some other issues with his system. And I'm not sure where to go from here.

Thank you in advance.

So weird thing just happened. I got 8 emails in a row which were along the lines of 'mailer-daemon return address' or 'out of office' replies meaning I sent emails, but the thing is I didn't. I then went to my sent email folder and no new sent emails show up except for the ones I did send over 3 days ago. This is a gmx.com email address. I then got a new email along with those other 8 from my gmx email to my gmx email but it was listed as being sent on april 8 so it was kind of lower on the page due to read emails being ahead of it. I have absolutely no contacts saved on that account so after looking through the bounced back emails I realized it may have sent emails to everyone I sent an email to since creating the account (a year ago). I even got one on my other email address from myself which I had once sent an email to. The email message is just an url that leads to some chinese website --> url here: sizenha.com/eitw9v.php I apologize in advance if I shouldn't have pasted that url. I use bit defender total internet security 2013 so I don't think I have any malware or spyware. I haven't clicked on any odd links or anything lately so I don't know what would have caused this. I ran malware bytes and super anti spyware to be sure and super anti spyware found a bunch of cookies which it said weren't really threats but it may track some stuff I do so I got rid of it anyway. I don't think that had anything to do with it. J... Read more

Just curious.

Avast found several virus a/o trojans. For each, the recommended action was to move to chest, as opposed to delete. Intuitively, I would think I want to delete something bad, rather than moving it to a chest, no matter where the chest is or how secure the chest may be. So, why am I being recommended to move to chest.

Ok, this is a problem that I've been having for months now, I can't figure out what's really causing it so far..

1 - When deleting video files (.avi, .mpg) they will do one of three things.
a. The file will delete fine.
b. The file will delete fine, then a few seconds, will re-appear in it's original location, and will be untouchable. Cannot be deleted, opened, moved, renamed, etc.. You will get an access denied error from windows stating that the file is in use.
c. The file just won't delete in the first place. See above 'untouchable'
2 - Moving files gives very similar results. I won't ever get the initial error that the file is in use. The file will move, but will then be in both locations. The folder I move the file to will be normal - deletable, openable, etc.. but the one in the original location will be untouchable. Sometimes, the file will appear to move fine, but in a few seconds, will re-appear, untouchable, in the original location, same as above..

Workarounds/more info:
1 - If I reboot, the 'untouchable' files will just be gone, and all will be well.
2 - I used sysinternals process explorer to find out what process was keeping the file open, and in all cases, it's explorer.exe.
3 - If I end task on explorer, and run it again, nothing happens.
4 - If I use process explorer and manually close the file handle(s) on the affected files, they will instantly vanish from the 'untouchable' locat... Read more

Not sure if this is security related or not... (it says it is "write-protected" *shrugs*)

I have been trying to compile a complete archive of a TV show and have been downloading the episodes onto my 'D:' drive. Of 111 Gigabytes I've only used up about 30.

I'm about finished downloading all the episodes so i decided to begin organizing the avi files into folders so that when i started burning them onto DVDs they would be easy to find rather than all mixed up in one folder.

I moved about 3/4ths of the episodes into folders before i noticed that the files that i moved into folders are now not accessible. I can't watch them, or move them, or delete them. The files that i have not organized still work perfectly.

The message i get if i try to move the file back into its old folder...

"Cannot move File: Access is denied.

Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected
and that the file is not currently in use."

---I really dont want to re-download like 200 episodes again :'(

Also, if i try to watch any of these files then Windows Media Player gives me this notice:

"Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be
in use, you might not have access to the computer where the
file is stored, or your proxy settings might not be correct."

Any help would be greatly appreciated---if i posted this thread in the wrong section please tell me where i should move it to.

I seriously logged onto my computer one morning after leaving it running all night long for a torrent to download ... and a porn file had downloaded itself into My Music folder.

This file has nothing to do with the torrent I was downloading and I do not know how it got through my updated Norton. (Please don't go on about how you personally may not like Norton or think it sucks or something).

This file has a pornographic name that is many many characters long. In fact, I cannot even view the entire name. The name is so long that I cannot move the file anywhere. However, it will not let me rename it. By clicking the mouse two times slowly, just gives me an error chime sound and nothing happens.

This file appears to be a "Movie Clip" although I do not know what exact type because of reasons I will get into in a second.

I cannot right-click the file with much success. When I do ... it opens up only the following options:

AVIcodec : detailed information
Add to Now Playing list
Add to Playlist ...
Add to Sync list
Add to Burn list
Open With ...
Send to ...

Nothing more. "Send to ..." only leads to AIM, Skype, Mail, Desktop, and Compressed Folder.

"Open With ..." leads to the typical window as with all other files.

Even if I double-click the file as if to open it ... it will open in Windows Media Player as a movie ... but then it will not play. I click the Play button but nothing happens although I can see the Pl... Read more

A:File won't delete, move, etc ...

Hi there...

try downloading and installing a little freeware program called Unlocker which can be found here. Once installed, right click on the file and select Unlocker, then if the file is locked by another process, you should be able to select Delete from the drop down box and then click Unlock All, this should force delete the file but you may get a message saying it requires a reboot to complete.

If that doesn't work, try moving all the files from your Music folder to another location temporarily and the delete the Music folder with the offending file inside.

Once complete, run your anti-virus and anti-spyware software to remove any relating files/folders that may be elsewhere or hidden in your registry.

Hope that helps :-)

I posted in the virus section because that's what I assumed I had but it's been a week since I posted and I haven't received a response. I don't know if it's a problem with the computer itself or if it's a virus

I noticed a problem when I couldn't delete files like pictures or software, some files delete and with others a message comes up :
'An unexpected error is preventing the operation. Make a note of this error code, which might be useful if you get additional help to resolve this problem:
Error 0x80070570 the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable'

Also, there have been two messages in the tray at the bottom which come up when I start the laptop. one says there?s a problem with C:\Windows\System32\GfxUI.ex and the second says persistwndname.exe is corrupted

when I tried to do system restore a message prevents it with : 'Windows has detected file system corruption on Acer (C:). You must check the disk errors before it can be restored.'

Then when I schedule for the disk errors to be checked when it restarts it never checks them on restart because a black screen comes up saying C: NTFS type file needs to be checked for consistency but it doesn't check it

The computer has crashed a few times going to a bluescreen.

Each time I switch it on it always goes to a blackscreen saying that C: needs to be checked for consistency and that a system restore is needed (but the issue is never resolved)

(I'm using Windows 7)

Sorry to make my first post a plea for help, but I'm hoping someone out there can throw some light on what's happening.

I'm running Vista 32 bit on an Acer Dual Core Desktop (purchased December 2008).

As of about two weeks ago, the following happens whenever I try to delete or move a file.

1. The dialogue box appears, but the task bar within it does not green out. Within the box it says 0bytes recognised. I cannot close the dialogue box.

2. I use Task Manager to close the box.

3. I find the file has been moved/deleted.

Unfortunately this is quite a serious issue, since the machine is used to manage our ebook database and the software we use (Calibre) won't function with this error.

I have performed a disc defragment and full disc check and repair but to no avail.

Any help/suggestions very gratefully received.

With any big or unexplained change it is best to start with a full anti virus scan and download and run a full scan with malwarebytes.
If you are infested, you will let us know and then go to the security forum

If you are clean, we will do a clean boot, in an attemp to diagnose the problem

I have a Dell 2350 PC with Windows XP. SP 2 is installed.
Recently I added a Maxtor One TouchII external harddrive with Dantz Retrospect Express HD backup software. When I attempted to do a backup of my C: disk, it started the process then stopped and gave me a message that the backup was unsuccessful due to file with a "malformed name". With some difficulty, I tracked the file down to file which resided in a folder on the C: disk. I understand that this type of file is created by <chkdsk>. This file is empty and was apparently created the first time I booted up the computer (Apr.2003). When I attempt to delete or move this file, I get this message:
"File0000.chk is inaccessible.
The directory name is invalid."
I tried deleting from the Command Window and got essentially the same result. I tried to use the SPYBOT shred tool to erase the folder. It appeared to work, but when I checked C: disk, the folder was still there only now the file in it was named . It is this file that now comes up as the offender when I attempt the backup.
How can I get rid of this file.

I ran a virus scan, (Housecall), the other day and deleted a couple of files that it highlighted, (mainly cookies and stuff, or so I thought). Now I have the unfortunate inability to move any files from one folder to another, delete any files or copy/paste any files. I also can't get files on or off external devices such as hard drives or usb keys.

I am under the impression that a format is going to be needed but obviously, as I am unable to save anything, I would prefer to try any possibility first. I have tried sfc/ but it asks for the windows disc that I don't actually have, (computer never came with one, just a restore partition).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just did a custom install of windows Vista and need to get rid of the windows.old file. I have an external hard drive and would like to move it there and not delete it just in case I have forgotten any files that are not immediately apparent. Can I just cut and paste it? Or will that mess something up in Vista.

A:Can you MOVE and not delete windows.old

It would be best if you left alone until ready to delete. When you delete the best way is with disc cleanup, from the c drive, including system files.. It will not hurt vista, but windows.old may not be the same.

My Email client, MSN Premium (not Hotmail) will not open to write an email when clicking on any website's button labeled "send us an email". Instead this action causes several instances (up to 5) of IE6 to invoke and then the Op Sys (WinME) hangs until I use Ctrl-Alt-Del to end the erroneously opened IE tasks. I thought maybe it was that MSN mail was not my default email client so I used the proceedure to make MSN mail my default instead of OE6 but each time I returned to the options to see if it had changed it still says my default client is OE. Interestingly, if I envoke the MSN explorer and go to my MSN email inbox I can send and receive my email perfectly. This machine has been up and running since last October. I do not know if the problem has always existed or started more recently since I don't often click on "send us email" buttons.
I have three other machines similarly set up and none of them exhibit this problem.
WinMe, MSN Premium, and MSN messenger 6 all are up to date and current.
McAfee AV is on and up to date.
CounterSpy and Spybot are up to date and actively running.
Firefox 1.0.2 is my default browser
